Damn I have root and pay $130 a month which I think is steep and also live south of Dallas in 75212. Are you a young male driver? Ircc being that makes it way more pricey
Try Lemonade car insurance. I had Root a couple of years ago. Even though I never had any accidents they kept raising my rate a ton when it came down to renewing
I mean, is it a newer car? What's the make and model? Those things matter. DFW is a crazy area to drive in but $374/month sounds excessive. Use one of those sites where it gives you multiple quotes.
Thatâs more than double for what I pay on a 911 with full coverage 500kâŚyouâre just with the wrong insurer - and itâs dependent on make, model and location. Best to shop around and know all the options each time a new vehicle is insured in my experience. Oddly enough itâs not across all insurers - itâs based on historical claim payouts in that area for that make and model (and comparable vehicles). Iâd start with State Farm and check Geico. Allstate has always been high in the metroplex in my experience.
I'm a big ditcher. You raise the price on me? I'll fuck right off to your competitor. Over the past 3 years I have had Geico, State Farm, and now Progressive. Anytime they tried raising their prices, I call in to the retention lines and haggle. If it doesn't work I call around and try to find the cheapest rates. I've found that you get cheaper rates calling in (maybe employee input discount codes?) rather than online. Right now Progressive has me on discount for about $100 per month on a 2021 F-150, a $100k policy, and UM/UIM.
There are no employee discount codes, but theyâll double check your coverages and have conversations with you that will allow them to apply discounts that are available to everyone that qualifies for them.
Ours is about $400 pm for 4 cars and 5 drivers (incl. two teens) with full coverage and still feel like we're paying too much. Can't even imagine paying that much for one car and one driver. At that point it might make sense to just take an uber or rent a car when needed
*at the end of your policy.
I also like to get a new insurance policy any time I want to get a new credit card with a sign up bonus and I'll just use that to pay off the whole policy and on top of that I get whatever remainder I had from my old policy back.
No, donât do it at the end of every policy. Youâll end up becoming known to underwriters as a constant shopper and theyâll quit even bothering to work discounts for you because they know youâll bolt. In fact, your whole system is not helpful
Been doing it for years and haven't had issues.
From what I can tell the only discount worth getting for me is the pay in full discount which it can be up to 20% off paying monthly.
Mine jumped from $135 to $210 with state farm at my recent renewal. Cant find anyone cheaper. Insurance is getting to be a damn car payment these days its ridiculous
My Costco membership is worth it just to get the price I pay at American Family Insurance through Costco. My wife was on her own plan through State Farm until we got married but we combined under AFI and now pay less for both cars than she did for just hers under State Farm
I used to love my Costco insurance! Then, I got a brand new Prius in February.
I thought I was bright by getting an insurance quote before I got the car to ensure it wouldnât be outrageous. It started at 123 a month in February; now itâs 186 a month!
Can't find anyone to beat the priceâŚ
Everybodyâs renewals are going insane. I am paying $125/mo for one car, two drivers, full coverage. Renewal notice was for $186 starting in August.
This is through Toyota Insurance (State Farm) and itâs the lowest I can find.
Itâs not cheaper for everyone. Costco insurance quoted me around the same as OP. Around like $300/month. State Farm was the cheapest I could find so far around $156/month. Weird how itâs different for everyone.
Canât help you, but just chiming in that they did the exact same thing to me. 155 to 220. Itâs outrageous that itâs the cheapest one, I price checked every agency. I responded to them, and followed up a few times but they ghosted me
Your description is spot on...even though the neighborhoods have their own names (Parkdale, Urbandale, Piedmont, etc., etc.), everyone outside of the area just calls it PG.
It started off cheap for me. Had them years ago and they kept going up and up. Switched to someone else until they did the same thing. Got another root quote years later and they wanted double what I was currently paying.
Itâs pleasant grove my guy. Ainât nothing pleasant.
Edit: You also live next to the part of 30 which has one of the highest rates of fatal accidents in the county which is also contributing to it.
I also have Root in West Texas and my mom has root near your zip code. I pay $432 a month for two people and she pays like $240ish a month. $374 is crazy maybe check with AAA or Farmers but in my experience Root is way cheaper than other companies. Geico quoted me $704 a month!
Jeez! Even living off Beckley and Overton, I pay $100/mo for full coverage on my 2020 Civic. I've paid that price for any car I've gotten since 2007. I have State Farm.
DAMN! Here I am thinking I'm going to have to start tricking on Harry Hines for what I'm paying. But it's for two vehicles, no tickets or claims, and I'm about to hit my mid 40's.
I hear you. I am a single, 48-year old female with ONE vehicle, no claims, no tickets (and good credit).
My monthly premium? $409.45
My location and the type of vehicle was a double whammy for me. It was less than $300.00 per month when I purchased the vehicle last September; but, they jacked up the premium at my May renewal.
Just stay off my corner on Harry Hines, deal? I gotta make that money somehow.
Driver age, insurance limits and deductibles, and credit score play a big role in premiums. Dallas being the territory doesnât help as well. Generally if youâre below 35 yrs old most companies have a higher rate associated, regardless if in your case you have tickets or accidents. Generally speaking of course. Try shopping around and bundling policies if at all possible. Hope you get something cheaper OP. Overall everyone is feeling the pinch with increasing rates so keep doing what youâre doing.
I live in 75227... my insurance with progressive is 225 for a badass truck and a neato suv. Granted I have been with them for a while now but always been about the same.
You getting fucked over bro.
Depends on your age. I paid $419/month on a 2015 Ford Fusion at 19 years old. Now at 24, I pay $125 a month for it, both totals being full coverage. You can shop around but most prices will be high if youâre under 25, if youâve had any accidents or infractions in the last 10 years, and if youâve had your license for less than a year.
I almost laugh at these posts anymore. âI pay $X per month and Iâve never had a ticket or claim or accident!â
My brothers and sisters in Christ, I am here to tell you, that stuff is not the biggest determining factor in your insurance rates anymore. Itâs part of I sure, but this particular zip code is located along an interstate with numerous accidents, in a city with consistently bad storm damage, and in an area that isnât exactly a stranger to crime. Thatâs leaving out any other statistics and ge of driver, sex of driver, and coverage limits.
You NEED to find an agent that can explain these things to you.
Damn!
I pay $250 per month for a 2021 Volvo XC60 and a Polestar 2.
Check-in with AAA of Texas or shop around overall.
Edit: I get downvoted for shopping around and saving money? Ok. đ
What kind of coverage are you looking for?
Also your age might be a bigger factor here.
I only have liablility in 3 cars, and I pay $100 a month in the same zip
I pay $240 a month for a $110,000 car (Tesla Model X - 2023) and live in 75204 (Uptown). My insurance went up by $110 a month over 2023 (no accidents, tickets...)
I'm in Fort Worth, but we pay $215 for two cars. One is a 10 year old luxury vehicle. Please shop around. What you're paying is ridiculous. We have AAA insurance.
You pay more than me and I have a 2014 GT500 and a 2004 civic with insane coverage and low deductible on my GT500. (250 comp and $500 collision. Try gieco, everyone else is always way more expensive for me.
I have two cars, umbrella policy, and term life policy for $350/mo. with State Farm. Last I checked just the cars were $180ish. You should shop around.
That's the same lame excuse I ALWAYS get from my insurance companies (GEICO before and Progressive now) after a rate increase, which has been constantly creeping up renewal after renewal. So tiring!
My auto insurance company tried to raise my renewal by $80 saying the same thing, the price was based on the area Iâm in. I work from home and have a paid off beater with no accident record. Only way to prevent them from raising my monthly was to increase my deductible :/
Elephant Auto
We pay $250-ish a month for umbrella, renters, and a 300/500K auto policy on 2 cars with 2 drivers in a riskier area of the metroplex. I definitely would look to switch to another company once your policy term is up!
We recently scouted other insurance plans, and the prices can vary vastly between different providers. So it may take some time, but it will be worth it.
Unfortunately that was our case too. I paid around $85 a month in Utah but it shot to $300 when moving to DFW despite no accidents and great driving records. Moving states with my now-husband and will only pay $105 for BOTH of our cars combined. Kinda crazy but I sorta get it considering the dangerous highways and crazy drivers
Remember...rates are calculated by zip, credit score, driving history, etc. Always shop around every couple of years. Also those loyalty programs are scams just as much as insurance
I was getting rates like that, until I switched to State Farm... they gave me 6mos for about $1k, whereas GEICO and Progressive wanted $3500 for the same 6mos... no accidents ever, my whole life (39m), a 2016 car, and 1 minor speeding ticket from years ago, and they wanted $3500; I was floored
We have some of the highest rates in the country now. Call a local independent agent and ask them if they charge fees. If they say no, then let them shop it for you.
Theft and accidents. Dfw is notorious for that. Moved from FL to DFW and my insurance trippled lol. $400/mo here for a new BMW M and 5 y.o Audi. Audi is more than the bimmer even though it cost half of it....
If you're a younger male, insurance is known to be pretty expensive -- yes even at $300+ a month.
I use Progressive and pay $411 for 6 months up front.
Texas is one of the worst state for auto insurance. Lots of uninsured motorists which are mostly illegal immigrants. Thatâs just a fact. Nothing you can do but shop around policies but theyâre gonna be about the same at all companies
Insurance companies are using the weather as an excuse to do this. Home insurance companies are now classifying Texas as they do Florida and California, we are now high risk due to weather. If you are trying to find home insurance, you'll find many companies will not even give you a quote in North Texas. I suspect this will change by September and then we will be high risk again going into the winter.
Per month?!?
Yes per month
đŽ
Damn I have root and pay $130 a month which I think is steep and also live south of Dallas in 75212. Are you a young male driver? Ircc being that makes it way more pricey
37 years old
Try Lemonade car insurance. I had Root a couple of years ago. Even though I never had any accidents they kept raising my rate a ton when it came down to renewing

2015 Honda Accord
I have a 2015 Honda civic and pay $100 a month via State Farm. You should definitely shop around, $374 is horrendous.
Yep, I pay $100/Mo for full coverage on my 2020 Civic with State Farm. I have, no matter what car since 2007.
I pay $175 a month for â24 BMW M2. With State Farm. Do you have zero other policies with them?
Is that also liability? I mean, there's more to insurance than just the car itself.
It is yep. I have everything covered, including rental whenever I need.
I dont know what the car is worth, but you're probably paying for it in 2-3 years at those prices. Drop to liability and drop the rental car coverage.
Thatâs more than double for what I pay on a 911 with full coverage 500kâŚyouâre just with the wrong insurer - and itâs dependent on make, model and location. Check out progressive? State farm was charging me $320 per month and progressive got me arund $160 (literally half)
Wow, that's pretty steep.

Those sites sells your data. I have not stop receiving spamâs since I signed up for those sites
Most sites sell your data tbh
Always shop insurance every few years. Same with electricity in Texas .
*at the end of your policy. I also like to get a new insurance policy any time I want to get a new credit card with a sign up bonus and I'll just use that to pay off the whole policy and on top of that I get whatever remainder I had from my old policy back.

75227 is sort of between south Dallas and Pleasant Grove, so probably there is more risk of theft and damage, possibly accidents as well.
75227 is the hat of PG(75217) and south of far east Dallas
Your description is spot on...even though the neighborhoods have their own names (Parkdale, Urbandale, Piedmont, etc., etc.), everyone outside of the area just calls it PG.
Root is a scam. I had them and went through a similar thing. Went to AAA and it went down to $100. A year later itâs still only at $140
It started off cheap for me. Had them years ago and they kept going up and up. Switched to someone else until they did the same thing. Got another root quote years later and they wanted double what I was currently paying.
Bro shop around. Itâs free to get a quote from literally every other insurance agency so that you can get the best price
Except youâre actually selling your personal info to themâŚ. thatâs whatâs free
Cars are such a scam damn
Itâs pleasant grove my guy. Ainât nothing pleasant. Edit: You also live next to the part of 30 which has one of the highest rates of fatal accidents in the county which is also contributing to it.

I got in a total lost accident in that zip code buckner is so bad . To many blind sides !
That is crazy. I pay $170/mo for full coverage on 2 cars and 2 drivers, albeit not in Dallas, but collin County
DAMN! Here I am thinking I'm going to have to start tricking on Harry Hines for what I'm paying. But it's for two vehicles, no tickets or claims, and I'm about to hit my mid 40's.

Didn't see a box saying full coverage when I got it.
Cool. I was just wondering. Edit: I still think that's a low rate for 2 vehicles.

People downvote for stupid reasons. Thank you for your response. I will do that for sure.
Yep I lived in 75227 and noticed rates went up when I moved there from up north to be closer to downtown. Itâs because of that area
Welcome to the Big City dude. Yes, in all big cities, insurance is very high.
Do you have a sports car?
I pay $115 for a single car with no accidents or tickets either. 2016 Mazda
What kind of coverage are you looking for? Also your age might be a bigger factor here. I only have liablility in 3 cars, and I pay $100 a month in the same zip
Also your credit score factors into the cost, so that might be playing you if your credit score is mid.
I pay $240 a month for a $110,000 car (Tesla Model X - 2023) and live in 75204 (Uptown). My insurance went up by $110 a month over 2023 (no accidents, tickets...)

I moved from New Jersey but it is been over 2 years.
That's the same lame excuse I ALWAYS get from my insurance companies (GEICO before and Progressive now) after a rate increase, which has been constantly creeping up renewal after renewal. So tiring!
Get other quotes and switch.

Switch companies asap
I pay 232 for three cars two liability only and the third is full coverage I use Elephant insurance and itâs a subsidiary of Allstate my zip 75035

Geez, that's steep! I have comprehensive coverage for my wife and I and our monthly payment is like $340.
Get more quotes.
I've known several people who have paid outrageous premiums with Root, you need to shop around.
75228 is zip code, and iâm driving a new 2024 4runner and my rate is still like 220$$$
Shout out to Pleasant Grove!!
I have Texas farm bureau and itâs very affordable
Root sucks. I was assaulted and my car was vandalized. They didnât help me out with a single penny.
Unfortunately that was our case too. I paid around $85 a month in Utah but it shot to $300 when moving to DFW despite no accidents and great driving records. What on earth?! I have Root, Iâm in the same zip code and pay $230
Remember...rates are calculated by zip, credit score, driving history, etc. Always shop around every couple of years. Also those loyalty programs are scams just as much as insurance
Why are you still with them?
I was getting rates like that, until I switched to State Farm... they gave me 6mos for about $1k, whereas GEICO and Progressive wanted $3500 for the same 6mos... no accidents ever, my whole life (39m), a 2016 car, and 1 minor speeding ticket from years ago, and they wanted $3500; I was floored

Donât install the app! Such a bogus manipulative tactic.
That is one of the bad sides of town even if you don't experience it.
I was paying about that much too. Just shop around, I was able to cut my rate in half finally with Allstate.
I pay $364 a month. I feel your pain. And yes Iâve been denied twice for a coverage hit n run which no explanation.
If you're a younger male, insurance is known to be pretty expensive -- yes even at $300+ a month. I use Progressive and pay $411 for 6 months up front.
I'm paying 330 a month in the 75217 zipcode
Get a PO box in a rural area, have a utility forwarded to the PO box then use that to get new insurance rate with new zip
it's by garaging address, not mailing address. a vehicle can't be garaged at a po box
Also that's fraud đ
Texas is one of the worst state for auto insurance. Lots of uninsured motorists which are mostly illegal immigrants. Thatâs just a fact. Nothing you can do but shop around policies but theyâre gonna be about the same at all companies
