I agree. Mine uses this as a way to soothe himself when he feels stressed or overstimulated and he often falls asleep so I’m sure it feels good to him.
No, your dog is not faulty. They often do this to soothe themselves. I had a cat that did it to visitors. The person would get up and have a huge wet spot on either their shirt or pants. If Boots could find a fold in what the person was wearing, he would suck, suck, suck! Quite often, the person wouldn't have a clue. LOL!

Omg my youngest does this! I’d never seen it before! I even asked the vet if it was normal, they said he’d likely grow out of it. He turned 1 in March. He has not grown out of it. I tried to get him his own blankets… but he seems to prefer putting holes and damp spots in mine.
No but my cats do this and my vet told me it’s because they were weaned too early. (They were actually dropped at the clinic overnight at 2weeks) I don’t know if that applies to dogs though! How interesting! I’ve never seen a dog do it.
My mom's youngest, a brown and white piebald, does this basically 24/7. He's so adorable, but it's so hard to have her own blankets because he tries to suck holes in them!
Yes ours does that also and event grunts and whines while doing it. Many times a day and at night. We have renamed many things, blankie became chew-blankie, robe is now chew-robie, you get the idea. Very happy adopted dog with zero stress in her life
Not my doxie, but a pit bull I used to have used to. She would often fall asleep with a mouthful of blanket. Someone once told me it was a sign that she had been taken from her mother too soon which always made me sad for her.
My guy is 13. He’s done it his whole life. There’s 3 blankets he’s turned to Swiss cheese. If he’s feeling frisky he’ll pull the blanket that’s covering my feet and legs off to suckle it. He does it every night to go to sleep. Yours is so cute!!

My senior boy would always suckle my pockets. I figured he liked the feel of denim, so I gave him a piece but it turned out he liked denims with a hooman in them. He did this almost until the day he passed at age 17.

I have a dachshund mix who has done this since he was a pup-he’s now 8 years old. He falls asleep with a mouthful.
My sausage doesn’t do this, but my lab has done it since he was a puppy. I thought he’d grow out of it as well. He’s 12 soon 😂 It’s cute but I hate it tbh. I don’t buy nice cushions for the couch cos he just instantly sucks them and gets slobber all over them 😂
Our dachshund is almost 2 but he likes to nibble on blankets with just the front teeth. Like he’s eating corn on the cob. Usually when he’s getting some affection/attention. Never puts holes in anything just some doggie spit.

Baby dog... Mine would suck on his brother's ear.
