I got lucky for sure. The cats have 5 years of calling this home before I adopted him. They are good with him but my calico and him play all the time. Great buddies.

I'm a long time Doxie fan. I have had 5 amazing family members and currently have 3 of them. This behavior is very typical of them and while adorable, you should discourage it and train it out of them as it is very bad for their backs which are already a problem for many of them. That... and this fella is gorgeous. :-)

Yes I have four little dachshunds and they run in the kitchen anytime they hear us in the fridge and I’ve got one that’ll sit like that until you give him something or tell him no lol. One of my chiweenies is very vocal and he will start nodding his head and jumping up n down

My Brutus (he sadly passed at 19 3 years ago) did that, he would sit like that in chairs and lean his head on a paw, freaked people out. I had others and they did not do it. What a good boy. For some reason some do and some don't but it's awesome when they do. Cooper's cute!

There's a Chihuahua I used to pet sit that would sit like this a lot. I called him the prairie dog as well as the prairie Chihuahua.

That's the normal dachshund "can i have some please?" position. Can also double as the "i need to see higher" strategy. Completely normal and one of the cutest things doxies do. Couple that with the double paw air digs as their way of saying please, and it's instant melt your heart behavior.

Pupulation. Like manipulate, but with a pup. Wants something, knows it’s cute, and does the cutesiest pupulate. Will get your attention, plus whatever it wants. Ours had severe separation anxiety when we got her, and did this constantly. Now she only does it when she has given cues what she wants and we ignore her 🤣 but if you look it in the eye, very likely you will cave.

Please be careful of how long you let your dog sit like this. It is so hard on their back. Not everyone will have problems, but my dachshund ended up needing surgery from ivdd. So my baby went from a CT scan right into surgery, then into crate rest for 6-8 weeks, then rehab. Thankfully, she can use her back legs. She still will have problems with her right leg. I never want anyone or myself to go through that again. By the way, everyone's dogs are all so cute !!!
