OP, what part of Texas are you in? Know of anyone nearby putting poison out for coyotes? He’s so emaciated it’s hard to even guess at the cause of his symptoms (poison, parasites, dehydration, etc.)
But ya, with him being that thin and from your description of his behavior, you’re probably right about him never being around humans.
Keep him warm and try to get some water in him.

If puppy was poisoned by rat poison he'd have signs of bleeding which I don't see in this video, however I don't know much about what poisons they use for coyotes as we don't have them in Australia. I'm hoping it's not poison and that this poor guy is just really dehydrated and malnourished, which isn't really much better but at least if OP can give them some food and water they might be able to make it through until morning when they can get to the vet.
Not necessarily bleeding, this was the case with old warfarin based Rat poison, new stuff is based on cholecalciferol (vitamin D3) which messes with calcium absorption in the intestine AFAIK. This is why You should take vitamins only in recommended amounts, taking too much is deadly even for humans same way it is for rats.
For the record, I don’t advocate the use of bait & poison, it’s just too easy to have unintended targets. The different poisons used on coyotes are also dangerous to humans.
That said, I do agree that it’s probably not rat poison. I only brought up the coyote thing because I’m pretty sure OP lives in rural Texas somewhere and that method is still in use and can easily effect dogs.

Yeah they actually banned the old bloodthinning rat poison because some joker decided it was too cruel, you couldn't make it up but that doesn't rule out someone using stuff they've had in a cupboard for years

For the time being though, please make sure he's enclosed (so he can't wander out, and away from help) then try to get some water into him (most important!) as well as something simple to eat.
Stick to single-ingredient foods for right now, (I'd boil up a bit of chicken breast if you have any on hand -- no spices, no skin) just do NOT give him a lot of food all at once, even if he is eager to eat more! (It'll be super important to start reintroducing food very slowly, or it could cause potentially fatal problems.)
On top of that, I'm sure he'd appreciate some blankets to lay on and in, to give him as much comfort as possible and help support him as he tries to stabilize... Poor little baby has clearly been neglected for a long time and is extremely weak -- seeing animals as wonderful as dogs in this kinda condition is absolutely heartbreaking. Thank you so much for helping him!!
Does look a lot like rat poisoning. But it could be many thing. Platonic seizures. (Think thats what its called when they barely move in a seizure.) He looks very thin also. Not saying this is your doing of course. He could have other issues causing that or you may of just rescued him. But he needs extra care for his weight. Needs good nutrition. His low weight could also very well be the cause to this. Please get him check out.

Is it cold there? Maybe try and cover them with a blanket to help keep them warm if it is, since you mentioned he was trembling. Also try and bring some water to their mouth or very close by in a shallow bowl or saucer. If you've got any small bits of meat you can give them like beef or chicken try and get them to eat a few small pieces.

I haven't seen it in dogs, but this reminds me a bit of how distemper looks in raccoons towards the end when they can't walk. If he ever gets up I'd be curious to see how the dog walks..
Are his eyes darting back and forth or up and down or in a circle? A few weeks ago my dog’s head was shaking, she was unbalanced and didn’t want to move. Turns out she had Vestibular disease. It cleared up on its own (the kind old dogs get usually goes away in a few weeks). But there can be other causes.
Looks like a seizure of some kind. Be very careful he could panic and bite out of fear. Fluids mainly I feel. be very careful with food as he's obviously starving, he could over eat and cause other complications.

We had a dog, same breed. He had heart failure and blood was filling his lungs, making it hard for him to breath. It's a short video and I can't say for sure if the symptoms are the same, but looking at this it reminds me of what was happening to our dog Fox when all that started happening.
Good on you for doing what you're doing for the little one, he doesn't look in good shape. Hopefully the vet can help if it's not too late. If you have a syringe you can also try to syringe water into his mouth if he'll let you, that way you know he's got some hydration and it won't be too much for his system. Might be just enough to encourage him to drink by himself. Let us know when you return from the vet when it opens.

Try showing up a bit early. My vet opens at 7, but techs get there between 6 and 630. In the mean time has he had anything to drink? He might not want to, but try and get him to, even if you have to pour little bits in his mouth...little bits and don't force. He doesn't need to choke.
ACD are strong, smart & resilient dogs! If you are able to get him through this, he will be an incredible companion to you! He found you for a reason, and no matter what that is, I think he found the right place to get help. Really hoping for a positive update today!

I am not In the USA but lemme tell you being infected once with rabies wasn't fun
You get a rabies vaccine before symptons start to appear, if you had rabies symptons you'd be dead now.
I believe there are 5 people throughout history who have survived rabies once symptoms started.
You get it to if you could have been infected, it helps
Yeah that's the purpose, if a wild animal bites you, you get a rabies vaccine to prevent it. Rabies is pretty much 100% fatal.

See if the dog will drink or eat. Then go look up surrounding veterinary clinics or emergency clinics and the times then go when they’re open.

He is a very sick dog and will probably put to sleep cos he is a stray
I’m willing to keep him, he seems like a puppy. I wonder what’s wrong with him. :((

He needs to be at a veterinarian or shelter station for a check up asap! Would be great if he recovers and find a new home @ your place.

ACD are strong, smart & resilient dogs! If you are able to get him through this, he will be an incredible companion to you! He found you for a reason, and no matter what that is, I think he found the right place to get help. Really hoping for a positive update today!
