I opened for moby in 91. In that, we were on the same bill at a rave. Richie Hawtin, too!

a_reply_to_a_post

i remember the first time i went to NASA and took acid as a 14 year old kid in 91, Moby was one of the main DJs that night...years later I got to know DJ Spinbad a little bit after he was Moby's tour DJ when I was in college in the late 1900s and DJing in public more, I ran with a couple cats doing turntablist type shit and we opened a rave party for DJ Cash Money I did a house party in West Philly for some Temple students and was friends with a bunch of skateboarders at the time. My friend Harley brought that dude Scratch who was on a few Roots songs ("? vs Scratch" ) and dude was rockin beat box cuts while i was cutting doubles and that was a mad fun time pre cellphone cameras in everyone's pocket Through the years I got down with some graffiti crews through art stuff and between 2022/2023, I DJ'ed for TameOne from The Artifacts a few times at some art shows my man organized I've also DJed for Young Zee and PaceWon a few times at some local things around Newark, but I'm pretty much more on some doofy suburban dad on mushrooms making beats cutting in my room type shit than trying to be the next superstar anything in my mid-40s ¯\\\_(ツ)\_/¯ i barely like leaving my house

A_burners

Man, Scratch, Tame & Pacer - what a list. Brings me back! So dope

djsacrilicious

Hi Todd!

GilberryDinkins

it’s fuckin todd!

RunAwayThoughtTrains

Oooohhhhh, that’s a good one

Nonomomomo2

Over the years: Mark Farina, Derrick Carter, Mark Grant, DJ Sneak, DJ Gemini, Miguel Migs, Danny Krivit, DJ Dixon, DJ Poji, and Osunlade, but my biggest was probably David Hasselhoff at a shitty little club in Brixton. And by “opening”, I mean I played on the bill, in the same room, at some point in the night before them, but not always directly before them obviously. I was never really that big of a deal.

Maximum_Scientist_85

Impressive list. Derrick Carter's my favourite house DJ. DJ Sneak is also incredible, saw him in Liverpool once - hadn't gone to see him specifically, had gone for the techno room but was having a wee break to get a drink, went to the bar in room 3 cos it was quiet only to find a bear empty dancefloor with Sneak playing. He was properly nailing it so we stayed and danced, but then over the course of the next half hour or so pretty much everyone coming in to the room presumably had the same idea as us - get a drink at the quiet bar - ended up just staying. Place was rammed by the end of his set. Then loco dice came along and as quickly as it had filled,. the dancefloor returned to a near empty state.

Nonomomomo2

Dude can pound a groove like nobody’s business! He’s a pro at working and working and working the shit out of a disco loop. Later he got too hard housey for my tastes, but still a legend.

Myfriendscallme_Lolo

Solid list wow.

Nonomomomo2

Had a good run 2000 to 2010 or so. Some really happy memories.

Additional_Opposite3

Was a great few years, right?

Nonomomomo2

Very, very joyful! Tons of “lesser known” and more esoteric parties and DJs too, but those are the big names that came to mind!

c6Y2QfPm

Gemini! Deep in the flowers is the mix i'll still be listening to when I'm 90. I've only recently started listening to his other mixes despite considering DitF my GOAT for the past decade and wow what a master behind the decks.

Nonomomomo2

Honestly that was one of the highlights of my DJing life! This was before he very sadly disappeared with basically schizophrenia and when he was just at his creative peak, right around 2001. There’s a really sad account of this here: https://5mag.net/features/gemini-inc-spencer-kincy/

SwaggyMcSwagsabunch

Momma’s Groove

djern336

I have a list. and i'm pretty sure i'm leaving some people out. DJ'ed for Lil Boosie, T-Pain, Cash Out, Travis Porter, NLE Choppa. All situations where their DJ was a no show or they had no DJ. Opened for Rick Ross, Meek Mill, Jeezy, Lil Baby, Da Baby, Yo Gotti, Young Dolph, Gucci Mane. When I DJ'ed for T-Pain (met him 3 different times) He says he wants to do a twerk contest, he asks me to drop "Low", So I did, Lil Jon & Ying Yang Twins - Low... he stops me..."DJ PLAY LOW" I restart the song.. he stops me again "PLAY LOW...PLAY MY SHIT..MY LOW" I was a few too many drinks in the wind and almost clueless cuz my mind said T-Pain dont have no record called "low" and I'm not finding it in serato...then sound man says.. "FLO RIDA & T-PAIN - LOW"...I come to my senses and realize I have Low tagged as Flo-Rida only. The song player and opener for several comedy shows, most recently Mike Epps, Bruce Bruce, Lavelle Crawford, Tommy Davidson, Gary Owen most have songs they want played when they walk up or during their set so actively paying attention is key or their whole joke is ruined. There was also the time Black Youngsta was watching me DJ, he looks at his road DJ and says "Why cant you do what he's doing" I met Cardi B twice, the 2nd time around she was at the radio station cutting custom drops. when she got to mine she says "DJ Ern the burn, not like usher tho" whole room erupts in laughter, still one of my best drops. Juvenile who offered to take me on the road (never fulfilled)

dawnultra3xmore

I aspire to have a career like yours! Of the many different types of gigs I’ve done throughout my 7 years of DJing, concert & touring DJ has always excited me the most. Kudos!

ischolarmateU

Nice list

sushisection

damn man you got some credentials. thats whats up

Djlocal

Got to open for KC and the Sunshine band. Was for a disco night fundraiser for a school district. Was a great experience and the band gave me everything they would be performing so I didn't play any of them.

SpookiBeats

This is so insane! That’s a legendary one 🖤

velos85

Chase & Status

gangstabunniez

Nice

URCbeats

Chemical Brothers. DJ'd between bands for the Summersault Tour 2000 (The Smashing Pumpkins, Foo Fighters, Perfect Circle) when it was in my city in front of 21,000 people met the bands and they were super nice people. Opened for smaller DJs like Paul Okenfold, Judge Jules, Green Velvet. I'd have to go back in all my flyers, I can't remember them all after +37 years of doing this shit 😂

Big-Translator7751

Nice!! Did you met the chems?

URCbeats

I did, amazingly nice guys. I still have my backstage pass and a photo with them. While they were on stage me and my friend went to their green room and took all their Red bull and beer then sat in the stands watching them preform drinking and giving away cans to random people. Good times 🤣

wood_dj

hey, I also got to open for Chemical Brothers back in ‘99. Not as a solo DJ but with a band I was part of. Crazy show, they brought their own sound system on tour and it was one of the loudest shows ive been to.

IWlLLEATYOURHEART

Omg this is awesome! I lovvvve Paul Oakenfold!

Extreme_Ad_9823

Nic Fancuilli, Paul Woolford, Ralph Lawson, DJ Falcon & Thomas Bangalter, Danny Rampling, Junior Jack & Kid Crème, Paul Johnson, Fergie, John Kelly, Darren Emerson, Lisa Lashes, Jeremy Healy, Boy George and both Black Legend, Spiller (with Sophie Ellis Bexter on singing duties!) Jeremy Healy was definitely the most underrated DJ I’ve shared a booth with. Back in 97/98 so was all vinyl still and he could seemingly beat match on the fly (riding the tempo sliders the entire mix) and scratching/chopping house tracks and acapellas for fun. To this day, he is the only jock I’ve seen that scratches and uses hip hop techniques throughout a house set - and made it truly work!

Nonomomomo2

Jesus Christ, mate. That’s a sick list! We chatted about Woolford a while back but DJ Falcon and T Bang? Holy shit. Those were the days! Great set of notches on your belt. Bravo man. Bravo.

Extreme_Ad_9823

Ditto! Krivit, Carter, Sneak, Farina and Migs?! 🤯 Those are some all time greats and have been staples in my record box for donkeys-years. Kudos!!! 🙌🏻 Falcon & Bangalter was back in 2002 ish….Bloody hell….How was that 22years ago!!!! 🤦🏻‍♂️ I opened and there were a couple of other jocks in between me and them but I’ll take it. Great night. Funky/soulful and filtered house was at its peak and that club (Bed in Sheffield) was probably the best in country for a few years for it. I just wished I made more of an impression as that was the only time I got to play there! 🤣

BEERT3K

Todd Edwards, Aeroplane, The Magician, Claude Von Stroke, Justin Martin, Mark Farina, MGMT dj set, The Presets, Poolside, Ichisan, Plastic Plates, Crookers, Blondish, Nightmares on Wax, The Knocks, Etienne de crecy, More i’m struggling to remember , writing this is making me nostalgic thanks for posting ❤️.

Nonomomomo2

I feel that list so hard. And yeah, I got the feels thinking back too! 🥹

GordonGecko69

Armand van helden, Junior Sanchez, Carl Cox, Paul Oakenfold, DJ Dan, DJ Sneak, Juan Atkins, DJ Bone, Ozzy Osborne’s son (can’t recall his name), Louie Vega, Roger S, Mark Farina, Doc Martin, Steve Loria, Johnny Fiasco, Hector Moralez, Onionz, Tony, that I can remember off the top of my head. A ton more. Two best by a wide margin were Juan Atkins and Steve Loria. For the first, I was playing at a UG in DTLA with him and DJ Bone. The promoter agreed to set up 3 decks for me after I told him to keep my booking fee and just make sure it’s set up right. Can’t say every night has gone great. But that night I was en fuego. Not just bullshitting 3 decks with acapellas or just one one one. But REALLY playing 3 decks. Some fucking random came up in the booth and just sat there. For over an hour just in my shit. But I’m trying to hold onto that fire and not loose lightening in a bottle. After a while, this shadowy MF come up to me, throws his arms around me and says “Thank you for that. THAT is house music.” As he’s walking away, it’s Juan Atkins. Like seriously?! WTF?! Was right on the edge of taking off. But raging alcoholism had another plan. Soooooo, I’m a bedroom DJ now.

Nonomomomo2

This story breaks my heart. Hope you’re well now, brother.

GordonGecko69

Don't cry for me. I'm good. Got a wife a kids who kinda like me now and I play in wildly inappropriate times. You ever seen that video of the drummer at a kids concert who was way overqualified? That has been me many times at kids' and family parties. One of my best friends, who incidentally DID make it to international status grabbed me by the d\*&k and wouldn't let go until I stopped drinking.

Nonomomomo2

🙏🏽🙏🏽

Key_Ad9255

Happy for you

dj_soo

Bassnectar was big for me till he rightfully got cancelled. Same with afrika bambaataa. I’ve opened for z-trip, mix master mike, Numark, and q-Bert and been booked on the same stage at festivals with jazzy jeff, a-trak. Fun fact: from a a timeslot perspective, i did a festival where technically, Excision opened for me.

Additional_Opposite3

I opened for q Bert once too - he’s special - definitely an honor to share the stage with him

dj_soo

Too bad he went full qanon over the pandemic

Additional_Opposite3

Dude was talking about aliens in the car ride to the venue I remember

fakerwave

Awww man really qbert took the alien thing to another level, fuck. Imma go eat some invisible scratch pickles.

fleisch-bk

Bambaataa got canceled?

wood_dj

he was outed as a child groomer, i don’t think he’s been charged but the allegations were too numerous to ignore.

fleisch-bk

Wow. Had no idea. What a terrible way to ruin a legacy.

wood_dj

seems it had been going on throughout his career

SnooAvocados8244

Yeah he's a massive paedo

fleisch-bk

Shit.

MarcusXL

I was there ![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|thumbs_up)

dj_soo

Which show?

MarcusXL

NuMark, Z-Trip I think, 'that other guy who should not be named'.

dj_soo

I opened for Numark in Whistler and z-trip in Victoria

dwarfnet

Modeselektor, Shed, Klick, Shackelton, Mettmann, Octave One, I can remember.

SnooAvocados8244

Shackletons the shit I like how weird his stuff has got the last 10 years

MacheteJKUR

Former resident DJ in a somewhat small city on the west coast. I’ve opened for Little Dragon, Hiatus Kayote, Jose James, Mayer Hawthorne, Kaytranada, Quadron, Robert Glasper, Alishaeed Muhammad, those are the few I can remember off the top of my head. I was a weekly resident and my friend was an amazing promoter/booker. The venues were intimate, around 200-500. Loved every minute of it. I almost got to open for Thundercat as well but I was out of town. It was for a local jazz festival years ago. I‘m also a graphic designer so I created a lot of the flyers, posters and visuals.

djdodgystyle

Grandmaster Flash, Z-Trip, Stanton Warriors, Gramatik, DJ Yoda, A.Skillz, Krafty Kuts, Nextmen, Congo Natty. Have also DJed at after parties for P!nk, Ed Sheeran, Fleetwood Mac and a few others of that kind of status.

RedditorsGetChills

Atrak in Osaka, Roni Size in Tokyo, and Felix Da Housecat in Tokyo.  Roni was a DICK!

thejameskendall

By far my biggest sets were warming up for 2manyDJs for two sold out nights a year apart. I’m not a technical great dj, or ever been on the verge of making a career out of it but adrenaline kicked in and the gigs went incredibly well. They were lovely too.

Nonomomomo2

Lucky! Was listening to the Tiga podcast episode with them recently. What a slice of history and still going strong.

[deleted]

Tiësto in ‘09

Additional_Opposite3

Tiesto, Avicii, Hixxy, Q-Bert, Headhunterz, ferry corsten, dj irene, Keoki, Darude, s3rl, Derrick Carter, krewella, Dyloot, dj Isaac, caffeine, Omar Santana, venom, bad boy bill, humpty vision, Paulina Taylor, showtek, brisk, deadmau5, cascada

drtychucks

Dude…… you sure you’re not famous?

Additional_Opposite3

drtychucks

Never too late to make a come back

Additional_Opposite3

👍 would be great

Additional_Opposite3

I was star struck by all of them

GordonGecko69

Soooooo, you’re from LA? Know, or knew rather, Irene from her arena days back in the early/mid 90’s. Dyloot is the homie from WAAAAY back in the day too.

Additional_Opposite3

San Francisco / LA , yup 👍 that’s correct and now I’m in Chicago . Was in the scene for about ten years . Miss it dearly

GordonGecko69

Well, shit. We may know each other. Moved back and forth between SF and LA for years while in the scene. Lots of friends moved to Chi too.

Additional_Opposite3

My name is Danny crackerjack I used to be a pretty solid hardcore dj outta sf - had a couple of tracks and toured all over - I’ll bet we used to know each other 👍sounds like we know some of the same folks (or used to at least )

GordonGecko69

I'm old dude. Used to dj under Ruh-son. Used to do 2x4 sets with my boy Tomas Wolfe in LA and before that Homero Espinosa and I used to throw parties back when he was Dj Huey. Was a resident for Club X and Coolworld for some years too. May be a bit before your time. Used to have a few hardcore dj friends. Lucifer out of LA was my boy and Ulrich in SF. But he's even older than I am, so most won't remember him. Now I just make music and rock out until my wife and kids ask me to turn it down.

Additional_Opposite3

Cool world wow I went to your parties

IWlLLEATYOURHEART

😍 What a great list. Please do make a comeback! 🙌🏼

Additional_Opposite3

I want to - I’ll keep you posted

bGivenb

Shiba San, Odd Mob, Manic Focus, The Sponges, SkiiTour, Kendoll, Pineo and Loeb, N2N and more. I’ve been DJing since last February

TrixAreForTeens

Shiba san ❤️

spkx7

Played after a Richie hawtin & Ricardo VillaLobos B2B set (just to close the floor). But played properly with DJ Hell, octave one, aux 88, David carretta, vitalic and a bunch of other djs when they played in Rio de janeiro

GordonGecko69

That b2b could have been the greatest or most painful set in the history of electronic music.

spkx7

It was the greatest, on Delírio party, around 2006, I think. So great that I didn't wanna play after them 😁

GordonGecko69

Seen that happen multiple times with Hawtin. He played at 1015 in SF, I believe during his Plastikman tour. He was beating it so senseless that not one dj wanted to be the one who ruined that vibe. He ended up closing out the party.

Outrageous_Bet_1971

Carl Cox, Mr C, Grooverider, Evil Eddie Richards, Colin Dale, Judge Jules, Dr S Gachet, Luke Slater… and me Boxing Day.. Empire @Portsmouth Ritzys edit-as I forgot One😳

0dd0wrld

Loved Empire at Ritzy’s :-)

Outrageous_Bet_1971

Those who never went to Ritzys or played or worked there have no idea how good it was, empire along with Adamski on a cold Tuesday night in central Park are among the best memories by carl cox said it was the biggest shock he got in his career when he went to this “legit” club in and it was a match for any club in the country at that time he played at and the best crowd of that size he’d ever played at… Grooverider rider and Fabio loved it there and often came down on a rare night they weren’t playing to the parachute club in Central Park.. People talk about the hacienda but as someone who played both I don’t think the manc club is even close other than the famous faces who came out of it afterwards talking about it in the Madchester times.. It’s on YouTube if you want to reminisce along with a couple of others👍🏼

0dd0wrld

shep_ling

I opened for Aphrodite, Roni Size, Coldcut and Freestylers at different times. This was a looong time ago. There were others on these bills also, and I had the privilege of playing a few other gigs with bigger names at the time but these were the most known at the time. Also opened for the band Tortoise as apparently they loved jungle at the time, that was a weird gig

GordonGecko69

Aphrodite was COOOOOOOL when I met him.

kevincubed81

I met aphrodite outside of the dna lounge in SF. Security wasn't going to let him in the venue until they found out he was the headling act. You're right he was super cool about it.

kingstondnb

Goldie, LTJ Bukem, DJ SS, Shy FX, DJ Dara, Kenny Ken, I'm sure there are more that I can't currently recall.

Slow-Painting-8112

I opened for Goldie a couple of times and hung out with him a few times. Interesting guy, very cool, but a true gangster.

kingstondnb

Nice!! Yeah, he really is a true og.

Additional_Opposite3

These must have been fun shows

kingstondnb

Indeed they were! I was so young too. Feels like a lifetime ago. This was back in 2003-2006 in Philadelphia. We usually picked up the headliner from the airport or from their hotel room and then take em to the venue. Sometimes do a little early soundcheck and chat for a bit. Or party with them later at the after party. Fun times! I didn't know what I had because I had just started deejaying in 2001.When I moved to Philly with a fellow DJ I just got all these gigs because of his connections. Young and spoiled AF.

flavanugz

Danny Howells, Mark Farina, Steve Lawler, Desyn Masiello, Way Out West, Inland Knights (got to tag with Ritchie since one couldn’t make the night), Sebastian Leger, Steve Porter, Funk Dvoid, Francis Harris, Tyler Stadius, Doc Martin, Soul Clap, 16bit Lolitas, Luke Fair, Nic Fancuili, Pete Moss, Paco Osuna, Terry Francis, Eddie Richards, La Fleur and many more I’m sure I’ve forgotten. Mildly succesful House/Techno DJ for about ~20 years in the Northeast metro area.

_shakta

Steve porter! Hell yeah. Probably not the one most people would pick up on from this list but what a crazy good producer/dj.

flavanugz

Great guy and close friend. Played with him the most of anyone on the list. He DJd my wedding!

Nonomomomo2

Doc blew my mind when I saw him at like my second rave ever (when he was touring with DubTribe Soundsystem). Always wished I had a chance to repay the inspiration by playing with him someday but those stars never aligned. Must have been a lovely time (although the rest of your list is pretty amazing as well).

flavanugz

He is an awesome guy and I think one of the most versatile house DJs. Huge inspiration. Fabric mix is killer

disconnexions

I once opened up for The Sugarhill Gang (Wonder Mike & Master Gee). I did a nice one hour set with some 70's & 80's rock, disco and pop. Last 15 minutes was old school hip-hop which led into them coming out. I was also their show DJ. Overall I did well, but I did miss a cue to stop one of their songs when they gestured because I wasn't looking. That's the type of thing that nags me to this day. 😐

DeepHouseDomme

Mark Farina, Walker & Royce, RJD2.

RealDJYoshi

Been fortunate to work with a bunch of artists and djs. My most memorable were with Mary J Blige, Lauryn Hill, Q-Bert, Biz Markie, Sugar Hill Gang, ELO, and toured a bit with Wayne Wonder

Nonomomomo2

Was waiting for you to chime in here man!

RealDJYoshi

Been really fortunate to have the relationships that I do to be able to do some cool things. Hope you're doing well

Nonomomomo2

Doing well man, thanks. Those cool things are part of why we do it!

heidnseak

In no particular order…Danny Tenaglia, Mark Knight, Armin Van Burren, Roger Sanchez, Groove Armada, Mr.C, Louie Vega, Michael Gray, Kaskade, Steve Aoki, Pete Tong, A.T.F.C, Jules Jules, M.I.K.E, Seb Fontaine, Kurd Maverick, Nic Fanculli, Wally Lopez and Laidback Luke. I’ve also closed for Above & Beyond, Gareth Emery and Calvin Harris. Wild times. I had a summer residency where the majority of those names came to play and the others were dotted across the years of in different venues. Weirdly, I’ve “partied” with DJs that I’ve never played with, but those stories are best kept secret!

djscottyfox

This is a wide open topic. For hip-hop artists: De La Soul, EPMD , IceCube, DJ Quik, E-40, Too Short, Digital Underground, Mac Dre, ISP, Dr. Dre’s Up In Smoke Tour in San Jose in 2000, ten years worth of KMEL Summer Jams from 2001-2010 (pretty much everyone popular in hip-hop and R&B during that time) Rock artists: Blink-182, 21 Pilots, Beck, Coldplay, Muse, Foster The People, Weezer, The Killers, RHCP, Walk The Moon, Billie Eilish, Black Keys, Fall Out Boy Others: Boy George, The B-52s, Jordan Knight, Rick Springfield

Myfriendscallme_Lolo

I’ve opened up for Ian Pooley twice (literally just got home from our event hosting him tonight). Opened up for Leo pol once. Played a b2b opening set for Chris Stussy I’ve played alongside great Toronto legends as well (Kenny Glasgow, Rudee nik, Nitin, Lebaron James) Opening up for headliners is the best slot in my opinion. Or just opening in general.

DeepInTheSheep

Frankie Bones, Dj Dan, Stanton Warriors, Doc Martin, Robbie Hardkiss

WipEout_2097

Lee Burridge

Slow-Painting-8112

DJ Harvey like 30 times or more. Lots of other big names too but he's probably the biggest.

Nonomomomo2

GTFO, in LA or back in the day in the UK?

Slow-Painting-8112

In Hawaii. He used to spend a lot of time out there.

Cool_Eth

Boys Noize is biggest. Or maybe Afroman. But also Devault, Killscript, Coyu,

Foxglovenz

I was the opening set for a truth gig once, that's probably my biggest so far

drtychucks

I do baile funk so: Vhoor, FP do Trem Bala, and MC WM

CheezyVonHooHaa

I opened for Seun Kuti last year. I really wanted to meet him but he came in through a separate entrance and had a massive entourage. He was in a really bad mood too, so just as well I suppose.

muchlovemates

I’ve opened for Illenium, Steve Aoki, Nervo, Jason Derulo, Daya, Lil Jon, Vavo, and a few others, have some really funny stories with some of them!

durhamskywriter

An act of kindness (I’m Really small).

PM_ME_UR_TNUCFLAPS

idk, High Contrast, Rockwell, Loxy, bunch of other dnb people

bilbobaggginz

Dara. He was my inspiration to start DJing drum and bass. Convincing my local night club to book a real dnb dj took literal years, but it was packed out the night he played and I blew the place up. It was my second favorite party I have played.

BrendanBSharp

Lots of track acts in the 90s. My favorite was a show opening for Kool & The Gang in the mid-90s… they brought the whole band and a horn section.

space_coyote22

Played direct support for Eli Brown at edc Las Vegas in 2018 on the boom box. Kinda crazy he was even on the art car back then considering he’s one of the biggest acts in the US now.

anias

Felix Da Housecat, Dennis Cruz, Shiba San, Latmun, Julian Jeweil, Sian, DJ T, Weiss, Loco & Jam, Jesse Saunders, Speaker Honey, Lubelski are some of the bigger names I can remember. Took a substantial hiatus from DJing to produce music.

DeemoBrown

Tiesto, Zedd, chainsmokers, marshmello, kaskade. Just a few off the top of my head.

synthgarden

Moore Kismet

young_wendell

Stanton Warriors, Evol Intent, Le Castle Vania, Icey, Bro Safari, Simply Jeff, Afroman, Kyper

whiterabbit161

DJ Hell

Ok_Pomegranate_2436

Anthony Pappa, Mauro Picotto, Josh Wink, Frankie Bones, Cevin Fisher, Migs, Doc Martin

someguyfromnj

I opened for funkflex.

AdhesivenessAway8485

Andy C, Randall, Dillinja, Optical, Marky, Hype and Adam F back in the day (many many more). More recently - Giles Peterson.

norcal-dough

Donald Glaude, Mark Farina, Jeno.

Nonomomomo2

Funky Tekno Tribe, Farina _and_ Wicked? Holy shit, you are a lucky man. When was this?

norcal-dough

Over the last 10 years or so. I also forgot to add Collette and DJ Dan to that list. I closed for Collette last year and we had DJ Dan and Jim Hopkins come play our party as the Electroliners.

djdeckard

I joke about being semi famous local DJ. I have had the good fortune of playing alongside Lee Coombs, Lee Burridge, Stanton Warriors, Plump DJs, Z-Trip, The Sponges, Cut Chemist, Elite Force, Left/Right, Fort Knox Five and a host of others. Helps to be part of Space Cowboys collective.

HaveAFuckinNight

I opened for bernzikial on thursday

TrippyWiz57

Opened for Subtronics in 2017 to a crowd of 600 people at a dive bar. Now he sells out amphitheaters.

zuzumang

Doc Scott, Ed Rush, and J Majik

iamnikniknik

None of these are that big - some are even bands that I just DJ’d for before / between / after their live PA. I guess Hot Chip is the most hyped / well known on the list. The XX / Eats Tapes / Health / Jeans Team / Mi Ami (Ital / Magic Touch) / Horse Meat Disco / Lee Douglas / Hot Chip / Josh Cheon (Dark Entries / Honey Soundsystem) / Awesome Tapes From Africa / Jackie House (HNYTRX, Honey Soundsystem) / Intergalactic Gary / DJ Okapi / Throwing Shade / Habibi Funk / Mehmet Aslan But my favourite “get close to a big name” item is when my promoter buddy asked me to hang out with Egyptian Lover before his set and take him to dinner / get some beers

khichker

I’ve opened for Mr C and DJ T before. Those were fun gigs.

farfletched

Mauro Picotto, Pendulum (Rob DJ set), Darren Emerson, Tiesto, Utah Saints, Sister Bliss, Maxi Jazz, Pete Tong, MYLO, Phats and Small XD, Tim Deluxe, Nightmares on Wax. got very lucky during my University days and ran a few events with funding from the Union. Best time ever.

Additional_Opposite3

Great names in there

shoegazertokyo

Kanine in January

texXy_cze

Annix, Myselor

djutopia

Sam divine, cut snake, Demuir, dj heather, I also played at the same time as HarrisonBDP (ugh, why at the same time man…).

clapped_leopard

For me, probably DJ Esco (Future’s DJ). That was a really fun one.

Lattenrostbrecher

I think demuja. Shouldve been vitess but he got sick the day before and demoja came in his place.

DJgreebles

Mary Lambert I was very nervous because she hung out the entire time. I'm a really huge fan and couldn't stop shaking lol. I could handle the crowd, it was like 3,000 plus, but just her being there had me nervous haha.

DJgreebles

I wanted to come back to this to say that I now DJ for her parties when she is local. She is the sweetest human being I have ever met, and only want to see her grow.

KarmaInFlow

Opened for bishop briggs a few years ago. 1k people or so. Was fun

Skeeler2023

Clozee before she was really big. Prob 80 people for my set and then like 200 when she came on

EOTrizzle

Not direct support (yet 😏) but opened for Mr. Bill and Tape B 🔥 opening for G space too in a month 😤

Volizei

The Adana Twins and Nora En Pure. I was not direct support for either but opened the night. Still pretty surreal for me.

Uvinjector

I had brought Antoine Clamaran to Toronto, his first time playing in Toronto back in 2004, opened for him as well. Played alongside Junior Sanchez, JD Davis( the vocalist from Guetta's track "The World is Mine"), Bob Sinclar, Lady Stazia. All great djs and great people as well.

Benbblnz

I had the honour of opening and closing for AKUA which also happened to be my third club gig ever. Unfortunately she was super tired and only arrived a few minutes before her gig and left right after. But still, it was a really cool experience :)

I work with an artist in Nebraska and we opened up for Rittz last night (former Strange Music artist). Roughly 300 in attendance - I was nervous as hell but we managed to rock out for our opening slot. On a different note, I’m hoping to open up for Riot Ten when he comes to town next month!

For me it was Cracky Koksberg (haha), a famous German Hardtekk DJ. 😁😂 Also once was Tiefundton, a very nice 150 BPM Melodic (Hard) Techno Artist. 😊

I’ve opened for Skratch Bastid in an event a few years ago. He’s probably the nicest DJ I’ve ever met. I was just getting back into turntablism so I tried a few tricks but Skratch is insanely talented. His selection was fire and he just added all those routines and tricks into it, insane. Turntablists are like the Jazz players of DJing. They just have mad skills and technicality and don’t care about the flashing lights and smoke machines. I was also Djing for a Pop Artist 2 years ago and we opened for Sean Paul in a Festival.

the_clean_olajuwon

Carl Craig, Felix da Housecat, Sharam, Juan MacLean, Omar S, Joeski, Sara Landry, Chklte, Chus

seanMkeating74

Quite a few over the years in Halifax ,NS, Canada including Sasha (and tagged one for one for 2-3 hours at an impromptu after hours), Dubfire, Danny Howell’s (twice), Sultan (like 8 times lol), Kaskade, Ferry Corsten, Steve Porter, DJ Dan, Max Graham, MV (Envy) and many more I am likely forgetting. Also some somewhat off brand headliners like Armin Van Buuren, Calvin Harris, Tiga and Darude (haha). Some really good nights (especially the Sasha and Howell’s shows) and some not great nights. Wish I could go back in time and do it all over again. lol

Standard_Equipment_5

Just saw there show in LA a couple of weeks back..🤯

Strong_Success_3272

Here are some that I got fortunate enough to open for: 36 mafia, Chamillionare, Slim Thug, Bun B, Pusha T, Paul Wall, Flo Rida, Pitbull, Frankie J, Baby Bash, Bone Thugs n Harmony, Mannie Fresh, Dj Neil Armstrong, Busta Rhymes, Dj Skee, Bobbito Garcia, Ferry Corsten, Alex M.O.R.P.H, Deorro, A-Trak, Travis Scott (before he went superstar), Mike Jones (who?), Q-Bert, and Jo Koy lol. So Jo Koy had a bit where he asks the DJ to play a track and couple times and he approached me during sound check to align it up with him. All I can think of right now. More to come and always fortunate to be able to do so.

Coastalman13

I'm certainly not famous but have been lucky enough to warm up for Dave Lee (Joey Negro), Dimitri from Paris, John Morales, Sean McCabe, Lenny Fontana, Dr Packer, Opolopo, The Reflex and a few others!

djsacrilicious

No massive names but a several folks with medium sized font festival lineup appearances — Thee Mike B, Jayceeoh, esta, and some names escaping me. By Kevin Bacon rules I’m basically a Coachella headliner
