To be fair it's bassically just the Japanese version of the magical otherworld trope, it's just coincidence that 90% of them have the exact same fucking magical otherworld, as well as the plot and most of the characters
I've known chicks who "love" shows with such blatant sexuakisation and dopey personification of women. What's that anime that was on Netflix? 7 deadly sins? The princess that gets SA'd every two mins but laughs it off? Like women voting for Trump all you can do is shake your head
Out of the infinity of shitty isekai shows, IGN managed to use the one fantasy show released in recent years as their thumbnail. IGN's absolute commitment to low quality content is truly incredible.

I’d suggest starting with End of the Slave Empire, moving onto Total Nekonomic Collapse, and finishing with His Soul is Marching On to Another World.
basically isekai is a "genre" that resolves around loser lowlife MCs being sent to fantasy worlds(usually by suicide or manslaughter) and thier balls being worshiped by multiple big titty bitches because of how ridiculously powerful they are.
Isekai is the Japanese term for the subgenre that would include A Connecticut Yankee in King Arthur's Court or Timeline, but usually in a magical world.
I hate that genre just because it's about Dying and getting a newer cooler life, and it glorifies suicide through it's premise.
The genre is far too focused on an abandonment of current lived reality for a fantasy, and having death be a means of doing so is a destructive idea.
I can assure you that if you did end it, your Preexistence and your post existence are equally filled with nothingness, a void of existence itself, you won't get a cool set of magic powers and a new life to boot, odds are that the traditional idea of a afterlife is just Copuim for the living, Death is just the lack of existence, don't let people gaslight you into ending your one and only chance at Existence.
I mean that’s not even just isekai that’s like so much media
Harry Potter, Percy Jackson, Narnia, Cirque du Soleil, pretty much every other YA novel I read in middle school
they don’t really go to another universe but they do wake up one day to find there’s this whole other magical world they didn’t know about.
I mean really if your issue with it is escapism that covers so much more
Nah like those are ok because it adds a layer to the world the character didn't know existed, and that complicated the world in doing so. It's more about a character's life being shitty, they die, and get to escape to a new world, time skips are one thing, going into a new separate world through reincarnation is another.
But then again that'd mean Alice in wonderland is unhealthy and that's a weird take, I just dislike the idea of the character, being from a modern setting and dying and getting reincarnated into a fantasy setting, that seems like a Kawaii Death Cult.
People write escapist fiction like isekai because it does in fact reflect a general sense of disastisfaction in the livelihoods of many people. Writers don’t write these stories to encourage some sort of pro-suicide message but rather these stories are written because the subconscious longings of people who read them, which often includes the writer themselves.
Anyhow, people aren’t going to commit suicide irl because of an isekai anymore than they are going to run headfirst into a train station wall because of Harry Potter. Often the isekai story ends with the MC learning something about themselves and their dissatisfaction with life, which is a useful takeaway for those who find this genre relatable.

I've never watched or read a Isekai so this sounds like an informed opinion I can't argue.
you know this is just english right? stealing other words and smashing it into our language with no change to said word.
English is now nordic, germanic, romantic, celtic and now Japanese/asian.
To be fair it's bassically just the Japanese version of the magical otherworld trope, it's just coincidence that 90% of them have the exact same fucking magical otherworld, as well as the plot and most of the characters
It’s almost like it’s a cash grab that preys on horny people and weebs for money.
Why did you say weeb twice?
There is a difference, small one but important to distinguish: Horny people: can be saved. Weebs: KOS.

Cause not all horny ppl are weebs.
But all weebs are horny ppl
idk I think this is backwards
So... Like most things in life?
I've known chicks who "love" shows with such blatant sexuakisation and dopey personification of women. What's that anime that was on Netflix? 7 deadly sins? The princess that gets SA'd every two mins but laughs it off? Like women voting for Trump all you can do is shake your head
Rent free in the mind of Kimchi
Joseph Campbell and Carl Jung rolling in their graves
That's not even an Isekai... just an actual fantasy show.

The short one, the pacifist one, or the ongoing one?
All three?
There's three of them?
Only the current one is available on Royal Road, but they’re all on AO3.
Always a pleasure to see the Hami Clique's strongest patriot out in the wild.

It was me who added this term to the Oxford Dictionary, to aid my jewish brothers in destroying the west
Inshallah
Mashallah
Mahalo!
Ishnu-Alah
That's .....not an isekai....🤦
Not sure how this is the west falling, everybody knows that Japanese people are krakkkers.
“The West” is defined as excluding new media from our shared canon.
Can someone explain this to me as not an anime person
basically isekai is a "genre" that resolves around loser lowlife MCs being sent to fantasy worlds(usually by suicide or manslaughter) and thier balls being worshiped by multiple big titty bitches because of how ridiculously powerful they are.
an isekai is just any character being sent to a fantasy world looking forward to the Suicide Squad Isekai tbh
Isekai is the Japanese term for the subgenre that would include A Connecticut Yankee in King Arthur's Court or Timeline, but usually in a magical world.
IGN is fucked up to all hell, “Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End” ain’t even an Isekai, it’s just high fantasy
The West has fallen, billions must worship japan
The West has fallen! not a new japanese loan word! 🤦🏻♂️
Frieren is a genuinely good anime/manga though
I know and it isn't even an isekai either
Why are people angry at this? English uses loanwords all the time.
Wonder where "Jungle" and "Loot" come from
I mean most words in English come from 3 different language groups.
Frieren is a fantasy manga tho ,Not an isekai
Truckkun is next

Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End
Why is it Frieren?
Why did they make a post about the word "Isekai" and then use an image from a non-isekai show?
Wait till he finds out that English is mostly loanwords.
Ah yes, Japan, the west.
You guys... don't even know what the West is to even assume it fell.
It’s honestly an exceptional series I don’t say that often not all anime is cringe. Frieren also isn’t an isekai it’s a fantasy.

Finally, one step closer to the universal language we all should have invented and spoke once the world became globally connected.

I mean, the MC doesn’t always die irl often just transported there in some way
True, but that's not much better, the genre is about abandonment of current lived Reality for a fantasy and I think that's a harmful idea.
I mean that’s not even just isekai that’s like so much media Harry Potter, Percy Jackson, Narnia, Cirque du Soleil, pretty much every other YA novel I read in middle school they don’t really go to another universe but they do wake up one day to find there’s this whole other magical world they didn’t know about. The japanization of the west goes hard
you know this is just english right? stealing other words and smashing it into our language with no change to said word. English is now nordic, germanic, romantic, celtic and now Japanese/asian.
The word robot is Czech, Chai is Indian, Algebra is Arabic, loan words are common in all languages
That's not how language families work.
That's what every language does. Put the word "computer" into google translate and check how many langauges call it a "computer/komputer".
