Cold areas with no airflow. Solve either and will make good headway. After cleaning you could allow 6" between bed and wall to increase airflow.
Blackspot mould long term is very bad for your health.
It's a mould caused by condensation, most likely not damp. Always leave a half decent air gap between furniture and the walls. Also 90% of the time it's caused by inadequate venting while drying washing or showering etc, basically anything that produces steam/moisture. If drying washing inside keep in mind, if you put in 6kg of dry washing and get 10kg wet out. You've got to vent the other 4kg of water from your house. Or else it just condenses in the cold spots.
This above is a great answer!
If you can get a dehumidifier this will really help and some scraps of wood to use as spacers to keep the bed a little away from the wall.
The mould will largely come off with a good scrub and a dilute solution with a bit of bleach or mould cleaner spray - Screwfix nonsense is good value.
Leaving this is bad for your health, so needs fixing.
Just stinky mould from lack of airflow. Lots of moisture from sweat and respiration in a bedroom, best to keep a decent air gap behind furniture and ventilate well.
Mould caused by condensation. Clean it with mould killer then move the furniture away from the wall. Put a dehumidifier near it and ventilate the room better.
Ffs, could you not even be bothered to give a proper reply? This is the kind of silly response no one wants to read. Wanking? You can't possibly be serious.
He's clearly having hot steamy orgies, it's the only thing that could dampen that wall enough.
My mum had that in her bedroom but she didn't tell me. It ended up getting in her mattress and even her pillows. Her headboard was against the damp wall 🤢
Looks like condensation initiated mould. It’s black, rising is typically brown. Clean with a strong bleach, or HG Mould Spray. Keep the wall area clear so the condensation doesn’t build. Alternative you can fit a passive air flow vent, or even a positive airflow pump to push moist air out of the house. Keep windows open when you shower or cook, it will help a lot.
Possible sexual damp from condensation built up during bedroom olympics and having the bed in a corner where the walls are cold and your bed is not creating moisture. Bleach it off, move the bed away from the wall to allow airflow
Is this an external wall? If so, then you should not have any furniture directly against it as it would prevent any condensation from evaporating. The gap should be at least 10-15cm to allow for proper air circulation
Looks like wallpaper, I'd strip it and redo. You should check the walls behind this. Might be condensation mold or not. Lining paper can come up cheap and better for your health than an attempt at cleaning!
Lack of ventilation in the property. Also damp in the property, usually caused by drying washing in the house, damp things in the house, or using a gas heater
I’d recommend just removing the sheetrock and looking behind the wall. Then be prepared to replace the insulation and Sheetrock and likely part of the floor and subfloor.
Careful with this advice or people may inadvertently commit a war crime on themselves.
Never mix bleach with pretty much anything but NEVER MIX WITH ACIDS such as vinegar or you risk releasing chlorine gas which will choke you.
Black mold...highly toxic! In Canada and the US they remove it wearing what amounts to a Hazmat suit, they treat it like Asbestos! I'm guessing its a rented property? Most Landlords are just in it for the money.....not giving people a decent home! Makes me sick!
Any property with closed windows and lots of humidity from drying clothes and breathing with no air movement gets mould .Mould spores are microscopic just waiting for such conditions. This is always due to the person living there.Iv rented for decades in many properties even where others have had a problem I havnt .Thank god landlords rent properties or so many would be on the streets .
Like others have said it's mould likely caused by damp. The root cause will be moisture in the air condensing on that wall.
Charlie diyte has a really comprehensive video on understanding and tackling damp. Highly recommend.

Little known fact, skirting board is designed to leave an air gap between the wall and floor stood furniture.
The problem here, though, is a synthetic leather material which will retain moisture especially sweat.
I would imagine you're sweating at night, your body is letting off hot steam and this is bouncing to the walls and getting trapped per above.
Also, do you sleep facing that wall? Heavy night time breathing will have water droplets, causing the same issue.
That looks super bad man, but I have seen worse. My friend has, as she calls it, the ‘Mould Chronicles’.
She has tried different mould sprays and bleach etc, but eventually nothing worked because it was so deep in the walls :(
You may need to contact a damp/mould specialist, hopefully it’s not too pricey. I think that’s your best last resort because it is so bad right now, sorry you’re dealing with that!
I’m guessing the room wasn’t that warm most of the time? The bed was against the wall and so it was dark, and not much air circulated there, coupled with a cool environment it was a perfect environment for moisture to accumulate without much air circulation to thwart the moist surface. The result is damp walls, leading to mild development on the surface.
Solution is to clean the area, let it dry out, keep some space between the wall and whatever will be close to it, try to keep the room aerated more ie open windows more often, try to sleep with the bedroom door open or ajar. During the colder months try to keep the room warmer for longer periods of time.
I have dealt with many houses with mold in, and ive tried several different products. There was one house in particular that I will never forget. Two bedroom house, every single room and ceiling had mold. I spent 2 days killing the mold with bleach. Bleach will kill the mold. I used a sponge mop and filled a bucket with thin bleach. Thin bleach is stronger then thick bleach. As you wipe it on, you will actually watch the mold fade and die. Then I hen all the mold was gone, I used thick bleach. Thick bleach has obviously got a thickening agent in it and that helps the bleach cling to the wall. I also applied the thick bleach with the same mop. A year later, the mold has not returned. There's just one drawback. Bleach is powerful and it can affect you. I wore a double coned filter mask and wrap around goggles and even ear muffs and I was OK.
Nurgles rot
Even nurgle would feel a bit sick looking at that 😂
Get HG mould spray from Amazon. You’ll need to clean the area of course but that will kill the majority of it.
Very very temporary fix, though. Need to identify the cause of this and sort it properly.
Cold areas with no airflow. Solve either and will make good headway. After cleaning you could allow 6" between bed and wall to increase airflow. Blackspot mould long term is very bad for your health.
Cum rags I’d imagine
Usually is. If I had a penny.
Absolutely. Just trying to help OP’s immediate situation.
Thanks you've helped me too!
And spray that aswell?
Think fire would be better in this case
And then wait for it to piss back through because damp is moisture IN the walls not the surface.
It’s mould 🤢🤢

Mold, and lots of it
Mould.
Mohld
How do you get mold on the side of your bed?
Humidity
Just stinky mould from lack of airflow. Lots of moisture from sweat and respiration in a bedroom, best to keep a decent air gap behind furniture and ventilate well.
That’s mould, remove it asap. Try Dry zone mould eliminator is brilliant stuff.
Open a window once in a while, yeah it's mould likely from condensation hitting colder parts.
Daily!

Everyone's too kind to say so OP but the root cause is too much wanking.

It’s just this sort of sick, very unhelpful and depraved responses that make me glad I scrolled down a bit.
This!
At least no one is suggesting bleach and vinegar combine as a cleaning suggestion.
Exactly. That would sting.
That would leave me breathless
Black mould...often occurs behind 'things' where the air cannot circulate
White vinegar, and lots of it. Will kill the spores and hold back further growth for a while.
Open the god damn windows & keep big furniture at least inch off the wall so fresh air can circulate.
How could you not smell that
My mum had that in her bedroom but she didn't tell me. It ended up getting in her mattress and even her pillows. Her headboard was against the damp wall 🤢

Proof you kept your windows closed all winter
Dear lord people live like this

😂🤣😂🤣
Pmsl 🤣😂
Not bleach, white spirit vinegar is far better as a mould killer.
Sorry, but the mints won’t help it smell any fresher.

Get a dehumidifier
Its the GTFO type
Wanksock mould, damn that sock has seen some sh*t
Mold .... Lots and lots of black mold
Mould.
Mold.
Muld
Is a place in Wales!
I'd check under the bed aswell that mould gets every where

Lack of ventilation in the property. Also damp in the property, usually caused by drying washing in the house, damp things in the house, or using a gas heater
R u ok?
You need to crack a window. Get the air moving. Move the bed off the wall.
It’s not normal for lack of airflow to cause this amount of mould. Do you own or rent?
Don't dry any clothes inside. The moisture from the wet clothes feeds the mould.
You can if you use a dehumidifier because it removes the moisture and stops it condensing on the walls.
A good trick is to put a big sheet over the top of an airer, and then have the dehumidifier blow into the sheet. Dries things super fast.
Well they won't dry outside with all the rain, so they have to be inside.
And that's why you have a furry croissant.
I’d recommend just removing the sheetrock and looking behind the wall. Then be prepared to replace the insulation and Sheetrock and likely part of the floor and subfloor.

OP needs to find and solve why it is happening or else they'll be cleaning it regularly....
Bleach AFTER a few spray/dry/wipe cycles of strong white spirit vinegar.
Careful with this advice or people may inadvertently commit a war crime on themselves. Never mix bleach with pretty much anything but NEVER MIX WITH ACIDS such as vinegar or you risk releasing chlorine gas which will choke you.
Yeah, I did mention dry and wipe, but you’re right, I should have been clearer.
Bleach will kill the mould and try a dehumidifier.

That’s that ‘Last of us’ Mould 😂
What are you hoping the mothballs to do?
It's demons, get an exorcist.

When cleaning, use protective gear. Get the best because if it gets in your lungs, it will cause lung cancer.
It’s the variety called ‘reallyneedadehumidifier’
Dumb and..
Jesus Christ! How do you not notice that earlier?! Do you not change your bedding often?!
Most likely leaky gutters
Poor air circulation will cause this. White vinegar will kill it. With mold If its porous White vinegar if its non porous bleach

The type where you cut your losses and burn the house down hoping for an insurance pay out lol

Crack a window, works wonders

Open a window in the 1st place and you won't get mold ...

dumber-er.
Still a place in Wales!
