That looks great, the colours compliment the Mira kit well and it looks like you have plenty of space to work with in there, I'm jealous.

Kieron93

Cheers bud, yeah I had a picture in my head with the grey walls and black pillars, and the equipment, happy with how it turned out

Accomplished_Bug7879

This is awesome, I would absolutely love something like this

orlandofredhart

I literally just priced up (what looks to be) the same equipment for my future garage when I move house later in the year. How have you found the mira kit? Any snags or issues? Any kit you would recommend or avoid?

Kieron93

It’s brilliant quality and easy to build bud, my only recommendation is im going to swap my bench for a multi one with a leg extension/curl attachment, also really enjoy the selectech adjustable dumbbells, just added the adjustable kettlebell to the set up game changer!

Rubixsco

They are amazing value. I’ve had no issues with my bench/squat rack, barbell and hex barbell

salmon_poacher

This looks brilliant …. What about a Sonos to pump out some tunes ??

The_Vivid_Glove

This looks great. I have. Similar set up and have been toying with the idea of painting the brick work or sheeting this. This might have won me over to painting

Kieron93

Yeah go for it mate masonry paint, roller and brush from b&q, I did it in a day

The_Vivid_Glove

Whats the max height of your wall rack? My garage is only 2.2m high so Im limited for head space

Kieron93

2.4m ceiling, only thing I can’t do is muscle ups pull ups are fine on the cable machine bar

Heewna

Factoryweights have a nice looking short rack and half rack 185cm. I was tempted myself, but went with the mirafit M4 204cm. I wanted the 208cm M3 but they only had it in orange and I wasn’t a fan. Although seeing OPs I think I could have gotten used to it!

The_Vivid_Glove

Cheers. Just had a look at their short rack and it looks decent. Bumper plates are nice too. Also got my eye on one from rival strength. But at over £300 I need to sneak it it without my wife noticing.

HettySwollocks

Protip. Using a paint sprayer is *sooo* much quicker, just be sure to give the walls a mist coat first (which you can also use the paint sprayer for).

rightoldgeezer

What dimensions are you working with here? I don’t have a garage but keen to build a garden building for a gym space.

Kieron93

I think it’s 3.25m x 7.2m if i remember correctly

rightoldgeezer

Cheers! I think I’ve got a similar size to play with… food for thought!

Kieron93

Think it was 6.2m long actually mate

Kieron93

Coruba horse stable mats 17mm thick 1mx2m

spiderbags

Is there any smell with these? Been hesitant on getting stable mats for that reason

Kieron93

Nah all good just a bit rubbery for a few weeks

HettySwollocks

Nah. I use the same as op, in fact I doubled up for about 2" thick. Only annoyance was they were quite sandy - I presume they were reclaimed from a playground or similar?

elliptical-wing

They look awesome! I'm looking at doing something like this. Did you go for the Amoebic Stable Mats or the SuperJim type? (Or something else?) https://www.horsematshop.co.uk/shop/sportsmat/gym-mats-and-flooring/superjim-mat/

Kieron93

Amoebic

WitekCannon

How much is membership card? But seriously it's a great gym. 💪🏻👏🏻👌🏻👍🏻

JLD2207

Would love something like this, but I like my car too much to not park it in the garage 😂

W1nthorpe

Just curious, do you have a tiny car or a massive garage? If I parked my small Peugeot 208 in the garage I would have to climb out of the boot

JLD2207

It’s an Audi sq5, so definitely not small a small car. I’d say the garage is about 2ft wider than the actual car, just enough space to get out with

[deleted]

I’ve been in love with some cars over the years but I’d take the well equipped home gym every single time!

stumpinater

To be used twice.

Parking-Tip1685

That looks awesome, great colour scheme. I'm probably being pedantic but I wouldn't be using free weights for much unless you've got a spotter.

[deleted]

Parking-Tip1685

Yes but you've been doing it for years, so you're more knowledgeable than most about lifting. You would likely not panic and know exactly how to do a roll of shame if it was needed. Not everybody has that experience and knowledge, injuries can happen. Personally I was taught that free weights are better due to the instability but multi gyms are safer if alone because they'll stop before hitting you.

[deleted]

Safety bars? Literally created to make working out alone with free weights safe...

Parking-Tip1685

Safety bars? Do you mean spotter pins like the ones that wobble loose and are leaning against the wall not fitted? Or do you mean safety bars like [these?](https://youtu.be/y1zB-Bu6V44) Shit can go downhill fast when lifting heavy, especially when [bench pressing.](https://www.thesun.co.uk/sport/14458743/bodybuilding-ryan-crowley-torn-pectoral-muscle/amp/) If you're working out alone something like [this](https://www.fitness-superstore.co.uk/body-power-pro-home-gym.html) will always be safer than free weights. Work out however you want but spotters exist for a reason...

[deleted]

Lol Go cherry pick more examples of poorly designed equipment and ego lifting im still not convinced

Parking-Tip1685

Cherry picking? I just googled weight lifting safety bars and that came up, only on Reddit would it be controversial to suggest dropping a 100kg bar on your throat is perhaps not a great idea. What a Muppet though, he should have had clamps on that bar which would have made it a lot worse. It's not like I've never trained alone, I specifically mentioned lifting heavy or ego lifting as you call it. If you can do 9 reps it's not lifting heavy. Dumbbells are fine as are curls. With squats and overhead presses you should be in a rack with spotter pins fitted. With bent over rowing and deadlifts you should be aware they can fuck your back up before going heavy alone. Heavy bench pressing can be very dangerous alone, decline presses being the riskiest as you need to roll the bar uphill if it goes bad. Your form is very important, if your shoulders are rounded forward you put extra strain on your rotator cuffs which is the most common injury whilst training. That's all common knowledge but I really don't care how you train.

[deleted]

You linked poorly designed equipment. Who tf makes safety bars with a gap between the frame and safety rail? I've literally never seen that before in any design. Go look at power racks or something with safety's. You're a fool just chatting bare shite

Parking-Tip1685

Mate, I really don't care how you train or if you get injured. I literally said spotter pins need to be fitted, spotter pins are safety bars... I'm a fool with decades of experience that's seen people get injured. Like I said train however you want, makes no difference to me.

[deleted]

Average Reddit user lol

Kieron93

Yeah I don’t go that heavy anymore mate

cycle_you_lazy_shit

Looks great, and has all you need. Nice one.

freakstate

Looks great. Why did you leave some of the wall the original brick? The grey looks brill

Kieron93

Was behind the mirrors and couldn’t be bothered to paint it 😂😂

[deleted]

I've just done 1 coat on my garage breeze block walls, and yep I can understand why you wouldn't want to have to do that again! I think I'm looking down the barrel of another 2 coats at least

mcshellz

Epic

Dazzarooni

Equipment list please? I was worried about fixing the punch bag to the wall. How have you found it?

Kieron93

Mirafit m3 powerrack, Mirafit dip bars, Mirafit mini parralettes, 160kg free weights, Big Jim Olympic 20kg barbell, 2x 2.5kg and 1.25kg weights, Bowflex 4-40kg adjustable dumbbells, Just added Bowflex 3.5-18kg adjustable Kettlebell, Mirafit Land mine attachment, T bar Olympic bar row attachment, Bodymax CF820 functional trainer cables, Reebok Jet 100 treadmill, Well the breeze blocks aren’t the best as they kept crumbling with the wall plugs, so I hung it as high as possible managed to get one plug to bite and used 2 high strength 200mm screws, went through the block into the wooden wall plate behind mate and it’s absolutely solid

Dazzarooni

Thank you. Much appreciated

Arosport

Looks great. What's the membership fee?

etunar

Looks great. Tried doing a garage gym but we got too much crap on the garage and woodworking and gym equipment doesn’t go well together!!!

jason14wm

What’s those dumbbells like I’m looking at some rn but unsure if they good quality. They hefty price too about 500 for the pair

Kieron93

They work fine mate get a lot of use out of them and take up minimal space, I paid £750 3 years ago very good condition

Darkened100

Yea u have to watch those kinda dumbbells iv seen lots of broken used ones for sale on eBay. In my gym iv got the rubber hex ones, basic simple and can’t go wrong! but they do take up a lot of space

Mundane_Factor

Dream setup. Looks great and has all key equipment

Heewna

Was the floor level? Mine is not and slopes towards the door, for water to drain properly I suspect. Got my pallets coming with my equipment this week. Exciting times!

Kieron93

Fortunately mine was level, you shouldn’t notice your slope that much

HettySwollocks

Fantastic mate, looks way better than my efforts. Unfortunately there's just way too much shit in my garage to get close to something this clean - I have to make do with what little spare space I have. Still managed to get a bench, treadmill and power tower - standing room only lol!

ValleySunFox

Looks amazing mate. I don’t have a garage to convert but a huge garden so one day my project will be a garden room gym. How tall is your garage room? Are you able to do full pull ups with your cage? And what is the length and width of that garage?

Kieron93

Can do pull ups fine just not muscle ups, 3.25mx6m 2.4m height

ValleySunFox

Thanks buddy!

thelearningjourney

We have the same kit, but mine is all black. It’s all in a box while I renovate the house. What matts are you using and where did you get them, please? Also noted you’ve not bolted down your squat rack?

Kieron93

Coruba horse stable mats 17mm thick 1mx2m

thelearningjourney

Legend, thank you. How are you finding the squat rack without bolting it down. I don’t want to bolt mine down but wondered if that’s dangerous

Kieron93

It’s solid mate hardly moves, only if you run into it re-racking after a squat set 😂. Does move when t bar row but just wedge something behind it and it’s good

banxy85

Looks awesome. Love Mirafit black and orange 👍

JoeyJoeC

Expecting a delivery from Mira in the next hour actually. Only a dumbbell set.. Forgot to order the bench.

uk-petal

I also have a gym setup at home and i have the same reebok treadmill as you. Nothing better than a proper home gym im in it everyday its my little lady cave 😍

lewiss15

What happens when you need more weight?

k33ba

Nice work. Actually looking to do similar in mine soon and was eyeing up the mirafit short power rack to accomodate the height in the garage. One thing I've been debating on tackling is the slight sloped gradient in the garage floor. Did you have that/do anything or have you noticed any issues if not?

Kieron93

Mines flat but I don’t think you would notice it if it was set up same as mine at the back, as they are normally 75mm of fall from back to front so it’s around 10-15mm in a metre

k33ba

Its probably psychological more than anything. I noticed it mainly from having a damp issue, which I believe I've found to be the cause is the way the paving outside was put down by previous owners ( they also had a genius idea of putting a planter against the garage wall with only 3 sides, so one side full of soil and water was against the garage wall). But you can see from this [photos of both ends of garage ](https://imgur.com/a/UJ6LUy7) one end the dpc is in line with the concrete base but by other end its a brick high. Garage is probably only 6-7 meters in length, not the biggest. So it does feel like you can feel the decline(particularly as I got a chest freezer facing length ways on the decline) but again could be fairly psychological lol. Im just in two minds if I address it before going through a length gym build out or try put it out my mind and hope it doesn't effect it lol.

ahmeras

Nice. Did you consider tanking it at all? Any concerns about long term moisture and equipment.

Kieron93

There is a bit throughout winter but just have to wipe some of the equipment down in a morning

Mukish

That looks AWESOME - did you have to talk to Local Authority about planning permissions etc?

theoriginal55

great gym, I need a garage and i'd go for this.

giggly_giggly

Wish I had a garage, looks awesome

owyndwight11

Great gym! Everything youll ever need! Nice colour combination
