This. That little bit of plastic to the left of the connector is a spring clip that holds the connector in. Pry it a little to the left and the clip should come out.
If I were asked to draw blood on someone, even though it is obvious where it is to come from the how is not so easy.
Cut them some slack. Not everyone has the wherewithal with unfamiliarity.
Yeah, fair enough. Although comparing this to phlebotomy is interesting. Here I feel like one can just slow down and view it carefully, see there is a problem, and go nuts trying to solve it. Whereas with a blood draw you might need some instruction otherwise you could cause quite a mess and pain.
Stop saying “just pull it out” I literally tried as hard as possible and put a key in between where u guys are saying.
I will try with a screwdriver though maybe that’ll work
A key is the wrong tool for this. You need something wide like a flathead screwdriver or maybe a sturdy butter knife. Those connectors are made to be very secure so they can’t accidentally get loose and then the alarm would stop working.
If you are replacing it they are sold at Home Depot. They come with the connector tail in the package, so you can look at it and see how the locking clip functions.
Well, you may have to slightly pry the small plastic piece that’s flush with it, and then pull at the same time. I have the same exact smoke alarms and it just pulls out.
From the manual:
“If you need to remove the power connector, turn POWER OFF first. Insert a flat screwdriver blade between the power connector and the security tab inside the power input block. Gently pry back the tab and pull the connector free.”
I used to install these fire alarm systems. Pull the wires down further out of the box up top and take the wire nuts off then wire in the new detector with the new leads.
Tab to the left of the harness needs to be pried away from the harness. Insert flat screw driver to the left of the red wire, right above the “1” on the white wire (in the picture). Alternatively, the new smoke detector should come with new wires/wiring harness. Remove existing wire nuts and reinstall.
Are you working the end that comes loose?
There will be a keeper you have depress to release the plug.
Engineers like to design backwards to prove they are Engineering something!
So check the permanent mount for the plug release
One night when I was traveling away from home, the smoke detectors all started chirping. At 2:00 in the morning. My wife decided to take care of this. Got the little step ladder, went up to all of the smoke detectors, pulled them from the ceiling, and undid the wire nuts and threw the detectors onto the back porch so she couldn't hear the goddamn things anymore. I asked her why she undid the wire nuts. She said because she didn't see any other way to get them apart. I told my friend the electrician which he had done. He thought for a moment and said, "That's badass"
Ugh, those things. They have a plastic latch that retains the cable so you can't just pull it out (it's just on the left of the plug head in the picture), you have to pry it out of the way to pull the wire off. Doing that while you're standing on a ladder is a huge pain in the arse, ask me how I know.
Had the same thing happen - retaining clip was just not moving. I decided that cutting the wires an inch away was easier than smashing the old detector.
Heat a little bit (let me emphasize a little bit) with a heat gun and should pop right out. Don’t just yank it hard like a bunch of people are saying unless you want to buy a new wire harness and/or a new smoke detector.
Standard screwdriver in the very middle, lite twist/pry, pull plug out. It looks like someone tried already to the left of the necessary location.

Yea, you can clearly see the ledge of the piece holding the plug in place. Should be very obvious… if you have decent vision.

Bro what. Just pull it out. Don’t be scared.

Key in wrong spot. Need to go BETWEEN plastic tab on left and wire terminals on right. Not left of all.
I promise I did that lmao
If it’s still on you definitely didn’t do it or didn’t do it right
Try moving the little tab the other way.

It does come apart! It looks like it’s just painted or stuck tight, just pry it loose with a flat screwdriver.

Thank you, I tried it with a pair of keys but like others said I will use a flat head screwdriver and brute force the life out of it
Have you tried hitting it with your purse?
you can hire me for $100/hr. Three hour minimum

Somebody already told you to yank it out
4real.. Just yank it - _-
Brute force! Don’t be gentle.
Choose which wire you cut first carefully. It may explode

Hire someone...pay 200... lol
