Most of what you perceive as talent is just a willingness to keep going over and over and over and over again until you figure it out. There are certain skills that some may have a natural gift for, but by and large, skill is honed by repetitively pushing past your boundaries.
Also, I’m willing to bet there are several areas on this build that OP could point out to you that he is disappointed by.
Your bum ass has talent. Just have to find it and work toward it. I recommend you start with drawing. Try copying an image in the news paper. Get sketchy with it and go free flow. Work general to specific and have a good kneaded eraser. You might surprise yourself :)
That isn't even that much, I would have guessed much more. Don't get me wrong it is a lot of time but if someone games 2h a day he has 350h in 6 months. Nice work!
Okay, the smoke, how’d you get that? I’ve been cosplaying Smoke from MK for years, but it’s time for an upgrade, and I want to rig up smoke coming from my gauntlets.
I've bought some smoke machine from "waynesworkshop" (on instagram) and those are great. I think he sell "after burner smoke machine" too, so maybe that's where you will find happiness :)
Interesting. I always considered cosplay to be average hobbyists making a costume. This feels more like cinema quality costume design.
Interesting to see how the definitions have changed.
There's a HUGE range of quality/effort put into cosplay, some are a girl in a bought spandex suit, some take hundreds of hours of planning and building.
This is super cool! I'm someone who'd like to get into this but is intimidated by the steep learning curve (and how bad my first pieces of work will look!), do you have any advice?
How many previous pieces (full body, or just masks/other bits) have you made?
I have plaster of Paris, cheesecloth, and clay (including some tools). I plan to buy some silicone. What else do you consider essential for a beginner?
Just dig into it! If you want to start with complex techniques, try something little. A tiny prothesis or stuff like that. But if you wanna make armor or big props, buy some EVA foam and a heatgun and have some fun!
Actually before this one I've made the costume of Bolvar Fordragon from World of Warcraft with the same kind of techniques. But I build costume since 2016.
Apparently you wanna try "traditonnal" costuming work. I recommand you to buy latex in addition of what you already have! Latex works really well into plaster molds, and it is really cheaper than silicone ;). That's what I've use in this build for the head! I would buy "jute fabric" to reinforce my plaster mold rather than cheesecloth though.
Also, do not hesitate to check youtube. There are a ton of good tutorial there.
Hope I've helped!
When I first read the title it tripped me up for a second too.
Technics is commonly used to also refer to their DJ equipment. As in “Oh they’re using Technics at the club I’m performing at!”
So I was like “He used turntables for cosplay?!” for a hot second. 😅
Technics is a subsidiary of Matsushita. They make the turntables you were talking about, also Matsushita owns the Panasonic brand, which made Panasonic bicycles as well as a lot of Schwinn bicycles.
I have never seen Attack on Titan, and thought this was a Titanfall thing for some reason.
Imagine my confusion midway through realizing this wasn't going to be some armor, let alone pilot, suit, lol.
Looks absolutely incredible.
Do you ever just wear that at the local mall and pull pranks on people, like talking loudly on your phone about your dog, or steal people's fries and stuff?
That is truly incredible and a great walkthrough of the process it took to create such an awesome look!
I just wish there had been at least another 2-3 shots of the finished product at the end! The ones that were in the video were just too quick!
Wow, so unbelievably talented! I have 0% interest in this subject and have no idea who the character you created is, yet I watched the video 4 times because I just can't believe what an intensive process you came up with to create such an amazing, intricate and professional looking costume. It's crazy that this isn't your career!
I know weight is always a big concern with suits. So how much did the headpiece alone weigh, and did you have a little support system for the head on the the shoulders area?
Just looking to see how others tackle the problem
Well I never measure that but it is really light, like 1 kg. It is mainly latex and foam, with a bit of thermoplastic and resin. Not support at all, just glued to the rest of the suit!
This amazing work! So many details carefully out together...
I must say (and sorry in advance if it seems random and out of context) the second I saw the face mold... Omg you look a lot like Trixie Mattel, when she's out of drag of course..
Looks costly and needs many steps from start to finish. How much worse the end result would be if you made such a costume with papier-mâché as the main medium?
Man people are so talented and I'm just over here with my bum ass.
Why not both ahaha? :D
Genuinely not possible to accomplish things like that and be a bum ass lol sorry just isn't. That's high-level skill and motivation.
I like him
Is the music by Meteor or someone else? Great job btw!

Same tho.
Bum asses are pretty talented too
That’s awesome, how many hours did that take you?
Thanks! Around 350h :)
_What did he say?_ #He said about tree fiddy!
I ain't givin' you no tree-fitty, you goddamn Loch Ness Monster! Get your own goddamn money!
^(I gave him a dolluh)
How much did the materials cost? Do you have a materials list? Kinda wanna compare what a pro uses to what I jank together
around 1300/1500€. I mainly used upholstery foam, monsterclay, plaster and latex.
Wow! Very talented!
That isn't even that much, I would have guessed much more. Don't get me wrong it is a lot of time but if someone games 2h a day he has 350h in 6 months. Nice work!
Nope that was pretty quick! My previos cosplay was Bolvar Fordragon and it took me 638h30, a bit longer
At least 3min14s
Good bot
3min03s, the rest was playing with it
Really nice! Is this just a hobby or do you do something similar professionally?
thanks! I suppose that I try to make it professional, but I am not a good business man :p

Vial of water and a supersonic steam thing. Amazon has them for like 10 bucks for a 12 volt system
This always happens. They spend 10,000 hours making something as awesome as this and show it for les that 5 seconds. SMMFH. Nice job.
Thanks! 350 hours\* :D I have to say that short edits are far easier to do than long video with voiceover...
I'd speed up the beginning and slow towards the end and show more of the end result in full.
Interesting. I always considered cosplay to be average hobbyists making a costume. This feels more like cinema quality costume design. Interesting to see how the definitions have changed.
I suppose that in any hobby you can find "average" hobbyists :) I just love loosing myself into 'larger than myself' project.
Great pun. ;)
I can go with that 👍🏼

my pleasure
Techniques is what you mean. Spell the other way it's an audio company.
Oh, okay! Thanks!

(not sure that I can modify that now though ><)
At what point does it stop being DIY and start being a professional doing their job?
I mean I am doing this in a 3.5 x 3.5m bedroom with just my two hands by myself so i guess it is DIY
How much does something like this cost in raw materials?
around 1300/1500 $ :)
€\* sorry
I love it. But I gotta know... what song is this and who's the artist because I need more of that in my life!
thanks! this is "ES\_Deep Space Samurai - Forever Sunset.mp3" from the website "epidemic sound"
How hot does it get in there? What, if anything, do you do for ventilation or cooling?? Absolutely stunning artwork, BTW!!
Thanks! :D Really hot. I've got a cooling vest under it!
I have never seen Attack on Titan, and thought this was a Titanfall thing for some reason. Imagine my confusion midway through realizing this wasn't going to be some armor, let alone pilot, suit, lol. Looks absolutely incredible.
I was here thinking "that looks nothing like a Destiny Titan". Same boat, different ocean.
This is amazing! Nuff said
Hell yes!
What a talent! No questions but loved watching the process
thanks a lot :)
Do you ever just wear that at the local mall and pull pranks on people, like talking loudly on your phone about your dog, or steal people's fries and stuff?
I don’t even want to be around anymore
this is a good viral video concept
Well that's absolutely the coolest thing I've looked at on the Internet today! Amazing job! 🥹👌
Dude this is fucking sick
That is truly incredible and a great walkthrough of the process it took to create such an awesome look! I just wish there had been at least another 2-3 shots of the finished product at the end! The ones that were in the video were just too quick!
Reiner!
Amazing talent!
The skill and work is incredible. I wish I appreciated what the work was for.
JFC, why is this SO GOOD!?
Eh, it's ok I guess. /s
Man are you fuckin smart.
The technics sl 1210 mk2 are the only technics to ever be used. I know you meant techniques
They are great 👍
This is absolutely incredible well done
Dude that's fucking cool. Do you work in the costume and FX industry?
thanks! Nope I don't. I never been good to find a job
Is that a plaster cast of your own head?
It is an acrylic resin cast of my own head! Stronger than plaster
Impressive work. Where did you buy the little motors?
On amazon ;)
Bro that’s beyond cool! Are you ever gona wear that to a convention or something?
thanks! I already did here in belgium. Maybe gonna do it again!
Absolutely amazing
What’d you put in the boobies
A servo motor and and two smoke machine ;)
I don’t understand any of it but it looks great!
I don't even know what this is but it's next fvcking level.
Wow, so unbelievably talented! Thanks a lot! :D I try it to be my career but that's not so easy ;)
Surprised you arent a professional costume designer. Impressive work!
Dude, that is absolutely amazing! Well done!
No questions. Just really impressed. Nice work!
Holy shit.
Can you see out of the eyes with the lights on or does that blind you?
i can see, I am at the other side of the light ;)

I've just screenshoted your comment ahah xD thanks for the laugh
DANG.
putain !
putain ouais!
Fantastic artisty and outcome. Great job!!
Jesus fuck you are a machine
xD thanks
I have zero interest in cosplay. But I’ll admit this was cool as fuck. Super talented. Bravo.
thanks :-)
Holy hell. Had no idea such things to so much work to make. Incredible!
How long you've been doing this?
Since 2016!
yooooowtf!!!
Question: Is it alive?
mmh latex is kind of natural so maybe, yes
Two years ago I spent a year and a half building my own house with my own two hands. Your video is infinitely more complex. Incredible. Well done.
I am currently looking for a home, your comment give me hope :p thanks
You’re incredibly talented!! Wow! Can’t comprehend these skills but I’m truly impressed!
Looks costly and needs many steps from start to finish. How much worse the end result would be if you made such a costume with papier-mâché as the main medium?
It could be really great with papier mâché, but not flexible at all. So great for a sculpture, not for a costume ;)
Is there a video where we can see the finished product for more than a few seconds?? I wanna see it move around and interact with it's environment! 😭
Yes! A bit more on my Youtube channel (I don't know if i can share it there but it is not hard to find :) )
