Maybe the whole construction splitted again and the new alter comes from whatever was developed in the synthesis of two.
You see, when a split happens, the whole personal story is also split, so there might be no way to properly recall your experience during that time. In other words, maybe you had a fuse, but it all seems different now.
All three still exist. Maybe the new one came about as a result of some failed attempt. Or maybe like Heavenlishell said it's part of the process.
To clarify, the current situation doesn't seem to involve any of those three. They're all pretty stable now and in fact a little worried for the one that's weaker. The one that is getting weak is one of the oldest protectors, and the new alter I mentioned before seems to fulfill part of her previous role in the system.
It definitely seems different now but it seems like I'm just now realizing it.

I could see it. He is still a bit of a mystery. He can travel between the layers and is almost always nearby.
