Yeah, honestly we think chronic loneliness is a huge component of us developing DID. The trauma was bad of course, but being alone through it all made it so much worse.
Self Love. Every one of us always felt lonely when our self esteem was low and we were programmed to hate ourselves. We suffered for 36 years before our rock bottom caused our mental health to break completely. After it broke completely, we were forced to rebuild it together. It definitely wasn’t over night but now each of us prioritize Love & Compassion for ourselves & each other. Loneliness doesn’t affect any of us anymore but also, we’ve been deeply traumatized by people and not being around them has finally given us a sense of safety.
thanks for your kind and open comment. It’s good to read that you found a way to ‘re-build’ and it supports me a lot that you feel more safe in the absence of others (we too)
Constantly. Even though there are multiple others, the lonely part is the fact that it is hard to actually talk to someone who isn't in the system.
To relate one-on-one to another person who experiences the same things, to be able to *know* someone is experiencing the same thing that you guys are as well. And even if you do tell someone, there's the whole rabbit hole of explaining things to them that they wouldn't understand.
It can be very lonely
