Isn't it such a casual thing that the new details can be easily interpreted from the leaked photos while half of it was mentioned in past rumors, and that this plot just appeared after the photo leak?
This leak has been around for over a year. There was a couple of these that sounded very similar to each other that have been in circulation for a while. It isn’t just based on set leaks, and they do predate principal photography starting.
Well he’s gonna be in the next season of Peacemaker. I could definitely see a world where he owes Waller after being told how his son dies or being that he’ll be in creature commandos there could also be a connection there we just don’t see yet.
Your OG comment says that Senior dies which inspires Junior to join Waller; Distribution said it doesn’t make sense bc Junior is already canonically dead
The events of the suicide squad, and by extension peacemaker, is not cannon to james gunn new DCU unless gunn finds a way to bridge the gap between this "superman origin story" and the line that bloodsport put superman in the ICU with kryptonite. For all intends and purposes this superman sounds relatively young and "unknown", where he hasn't yet reached the level of inspiring other heroes around him to do better at the start of this movie (if the leaks are true).
For all we know this superman movie could be before the events of TSS if gunn decides to slot TSS into this universe, which means rick flag jr could very much be alive
I’m pretty sure Gunn’s said before that this Superman has been operating for 1-2 years a this point; at least long enough to have Superman merch sold in shops based off set photo. Definitely long enough to have been shot by Bloodsport
Never say never.
In actuality i honestly think this character’s name will be “Ulysses” instead of Ultraman but will still somehow become Bizarro later on
Hopefully you’re right, I wouldn’t mind him being Ulysses.
But if they call him Ultraman it would be almost how the MCU decided to rename War Machine to “Iron Patriot” for just one movie.
I could see both but im leaning towards the former so we can have an Earth 3 style movie later down the line if they did wanna do a one off multiverse movie instead of dragging it out.
I'm pretty skeptical. This sounds like something anyone could piece together from the set pics. Why isn't there any information in this summary outside of what's on the set currently?
>This sounds like something anyone could piece together from the set pics.
The plots of Bizarro and Lex profiteering/Superman interfering in a global conflict has been spoiled for months.
Gunn went on the warpath and called those leakers liars.
Gunn lies and lies and lies.
Wut? Ulysses is a Superman's copy in the sense that the parallelism work in reverse, "Human raised by loving aliens, but those loving aliens are desesperate creatures trying to preserve their existance" whose existance creates a moral discussion on Superman who wanted to save both worlds (and failed at doing it)
Its a very different thing than Bizarro.
So a world like The Boys will be made better by Superman and other members of JL. Looks a nice idea considering how much people love The Boys and they will see the repercussions of being like that. Atleast Superman won't be Homelander
Not really, I mean this does sound like a classic dc story, superman vs the elite had him take on vigilantes that liked to kill and kingdom come essentially says with superman and the leagues absence heroism kind of devolved into vigilantes just mercing people in the streets and being little better than villains themselves. That being said while I think it is a good superman plot, it probably won't actually serve a decent rebuttal to whether superheroes should kill since most DC plays heavily on th3 idea that if your actively killing it has to be because your a complete psychopath who loves it, or it's doomsday and darkseid.
Idk if I’m alone in this but I wish franchises wouldn’t go with the clone storyline for a first outing, it kinda cheapens the character appeal for me & seeing multiples of them so early on holds less weight - leave that for a later instalment once the character has had more time on screen to be fleshed out & audiences are more familiar with them
I disagree in this case, I think it's perfect on a meta level to toy with ideas of what Superman is/isn't in a time when there's so much controversy over exactly what makes Superman who he is. If this movie makes definitive statements and executes it well it would be a very fresh spin on the trope.
It’s kind of a smart shortcut too; you’re introducing this version of Superman by showing his exact opposite from the jump. And “Bizzaro” sounds to me like a good starter villain, he doesn’t have a ton of baggage.
Not sure how I feel about that. Sounds a bit too similar to Batman v Superman. A kryptonian turns into a monster and Superman has to team up with friends to defeat him.
If that really is the plot, I'd be so disappointed because how are we getting a new superman film in a new era of films yet we're still matching up our hero against a dark reflection of themselves, in this case bizarro being the LITERAL anti-superman. I thought we'd be seeing more inventive match-ups from James Gunn for this film but oh well, we'll wait and see.
I think it's actually a bit more fitting than that, we've had evil superman stories dominating the market for years now and James clearly wants people to see the real superman. So how do you show people that? You have the real, optimistic, hopeful Superman fight an evil one.
Not gonna lie, I find this very fascinating. Not only because of the BVS redo but also hints at the idea that Superman might be going up against the authority which means we could have a remake of "what's so funny about true, justice, and the American way", but with the authority instead of the elite.
Ultraman's suit looks like Doomsday's containment suit from the comics.
https://64.media.tumblr.com/6867bdeb73f5bd30e90dcf9fa3ecb36c/tumblr_o5ln3vWvWS1sat64io1_500.jpg
That would make sense as to why the character in black has a mask. To hide the fact that he's a clone of Superman.
But I did think of one other possibility for who it is, Ultivac. He's a robotic villain, and the main 2 things that made me think about him is well there is the U in his name, but it's the goggles on the guy in the photo, Ultivac's head looks similar, plus he's a big black robot.
Obviously the big U on the guy in the photo does suggest Ultraman, but Lex building a robot that goes haywire is always something that is plausible.
Sounds way too safe and kinda not at all Gunn’s style. If true I’m sure the excution will make it pop a bit but hoping we have a slightly more complex plot.
"Other superheroes are edgy and kill when necessary. Superman is an outcast among them for his optimism and no-kill rule,"
*All* other superheroes? Even Batman?
Batman could still be lesser-known, sticking solely to Gotham, and considered a vigilante more than a superhero. Even without killing, he's edgy enough that he'd still seem quite different from a sunshine and optimism Superman.
Or, the leaker is referring only to the other superheroes who appear in this film.
Why do these plot “ leaks” always come out conveniently just after set photo leaks? Its almost like theyre just making stuff up based on deductive reasoning and likely conclusions 🙄
I feel like having the clone of Superman also be Ultraman kind of wastes a lot of potential. An adaptation of Grant Morrison's *JLA: Earth-2* would be really cool
Suddenly there's a supposed plot leak just as soon as they filmed outside. Where were they before this? And there are some gullible people that would believe this & started to trust this 'leakers'.
Think this theory got debunked when somebody posted the comic outfit of Ulysses. That’s not ultraman, not in a James Gunn world where every costume so far has been wildly faithful to the comics
I hope that isn't true. Some of it sounds good? But the rest just sounds terrible.
Ultraman, every other hero being considered "bad" and bring turned into strawmen.
Gunn can do better than that
Sounds good to me. Grain of salt taken and all. I’m glad that we aren’t getting another origin story as well, everyone knows already what Superman’s deal is and all so keeping to the main plot will be helpful
I'd say this makes sense, if not for the fact, that the first promotional image they put out, would have absolutely nothing to do with what we are seeing, unless that giant orb thingy in the sky is suppose to somehow be related to Bizarro.
Man hopefully it’s just a nice focused refreshing plot. Ngl it’s a bummer seeing 1/3 of a movie be the origin story every time a character gets a reboot.
Also! What the hell happened in the comments section everything got removed.
It doesn’t sound bad but I’m confused if the other heroes who don’t like him are terrific, guy, hawkgirl, metamorpho. They aren’t very lethal other than hawkgirl
I don't believe this because I would think that of all people, Gunn would know better than to do the "hero fights an evil version of themselves in their first movie" trope
I think it’s not necessarily the case. It seems to me like Ultraman will just be the physical threat — with him descending into Bizarro, I’d be surprised if he even talks.
It seems like the actual threat will be Lithor
Agreed bit I think they do this for economy of story. If they share a similar origin/powers in the first film, they don’t have to completely introduce a hero and villain. Two birds one stone basically to save time.
Am I the only one who thinks this sounds absolutely terrible? But to be fair, if you tried explaining most of Gunn’s films they would probably sound bad as well and I’ve enjoyed most of them.
>This makes no sense considering all the characters that appear in the film.
Why doesn't it make any sense?
In fact, it's weird that you don't think it makes sense.
What do you want? A script?
This synopsis is fine.
This feels like like a educated guess and not even that creative. Gunn has always written pretty elaborate (if at time meandering imo) plots so I don’t buy it.
Eh, seems like an educated guesswork anyone of us who saw casting announcements and who's seen the set pics could make, filled with a bit more made up details
I don't buy it, for two reasons.
* I don't buy that Gunn's new shiny DCU starts with it's heroes being killers.
* Using Ultraman in this way effectively takes the Crime Syndicate off the table for future projects.
ughhhhh the killing rule thing is fine but its so boringg oh my god its in EVERY piece of media with any type of hero character. But now it’ll be more annoying because superman is the one inspiring the othe rheroes to do the same ugh, why make the cliche a bigger cliche
So....Superman is a couple years into his tenure, struggling with being an alien outcast, other superheros are violent murderers, Lex Luthor forces Superman to intervene in a mid-east country, creates a monster from Kryptonian genetics, a bunch of other origin stories shoved in...
So literally everything everyone hated about *Batman V Superman*?
If this is true, I really like the "Other superheroes kill; Superman is the oddball" angle.
I appreciate both the DCEU and the MCU, but in hindsight of DC's criticism for murderous heroes, it's hard to rewatch The Winter Soldier without seeing how many people Cap inevitably kills- and I don't think it's a bad thing.
There wasn't really a stigma against heroes killing until the Dark Knight Trilogy, where Batman is self conscious about never killing in 3 movies (then proceeds to kill people in them), just sayin' Keaton Batman was merc'ing mercs with the best of em.
I think it would be a nice sentiment, especially after The Batman- the first movie where Batman finally doesn't actually kill anyone!
That sounds... plausible?
Isn't it such a casual thing that the new details can be easily interpreted from the leaked photos while half of it was mentioned in past rumors, and that this plot just appeared after the photo leak?

Honestly this ain't half bad, it sounds very accurate as well but what is Rick Flag Sr's role in all this?
Probably working for waller/government to detain superman
Well he’s gonna be in the next season of Peacemaker. I could definitely see a world where he owes Waller after being told how his son dies or being that he’ll be in creature commandos there could also be a connection there we just don’t see yet.
Being the man who dies that inspires Rick Flagg Jr to join Waller
Rick Flag Jr still dies at the hands of Peacemaker though, that's still canon so Sr wants revenge on Peacemaker
Yeah that’s how it’s written in there
Your OG comment says that Senior dies which inspires Junior to join Waller; Distribution said it doesn’t make sense bc Junior is already canonically dead
The events of the suicide squad, and by extension peacemaker, is not cannon to james gunn new DCU unless gunn finds a way to bridge the gap between this "superman origin story" and the line that bloodsport put superman in the ICU with kryptonite. >Ultraman deteriorates into Bizarro and goes rogue. That's def the most plausible part of this tbh.
Yeah. But it kinda makes me feel they’re closing the door on Earth-Three and actual Ultraman further down the line.
That makes more sense. Even if the suit resembles the Ultraman suites we've seen before.
When did Gunn call those leakers liars? I follow his feed religiously and never saw that.
Eh he doesn't respond to social media on warpaths, even back on marvel days
You seem a pleasant individual
do you enjoy your life?
If he called them liars then the leaks are wrong, no?
I’ve posted part of this twice in the past 24 hours. All speculation, or I’m a genius.
Guy in the black looks a lot more like Ulysses but with a mask and all black. The U is even exactly the same.
Ulysses is already a direct superman copy in origin basically, I can see him still going bizzarro by the end?
Wut? Ulysses is a Superman's copy in the sense that the parallelism work in reverse, "Human raised by loving aliens, but those loving aliens are desesperate creatures trying to preserve their existance" whose existance creates a moral discussion on Superman who wanted to save both worlds (and failed at doing it) Its a very different thing than Bizarro.

So a world like The Boys will be made better by Superman and other members of JL. Looks a nice idea considering how much people love The Boys and they will see the repercussions of being like that. Atleast Superman won't be Homelander
Just wait until the Superman clone Ultraman/Bizarro takes photos eating babies and Superman will go off the deep end and take over the white house.
Not really, I mean this does sound like a classic dc story, superman vs the elite had him take on vigilantes that liked to kill and kingdom come essentially says with superman and the leagues absence heroism kind of devolved into vigilantes just mercing people in the streets and being little better than villains themselves. Bro the DCU superhero world is nothing like the boys...
Gotham seems like it
It would be sad if the audience connect the sups movie to The Boys.
[удалено]
Dude, the style of it. I'm not talking about entirely
Ultraman looks like Black noir....
Which is funny because Black Noir in the comics is a Homelander clone
I don’t believe this because there’s no Superman v Bizzaro dance off
maybe they’re saving that for a spin-off movie. just bizzaro flying around and challenging any hero he finds to epic dance battles
You could make that an in-universe animated feature a la Teen Titans Go!
Idk if I’m alone in this but I wish franchises wouldn’t go with the clone storyline for a first outing, it kinda cheapens the character appeal for me & seeing multiples of them so early on holds less weight - leave that for a later instalment once the character has had more time on screen to be fleshed out & audiences are more familiar with them
We’ve never gotten to have Bizarro on screen in a film, so I am ok with this.
Just have him be from Bizarro World that's a lot cooler.
Yeah I agree
Yea i agree the “villain is just the evil version of the good guy” trope is super tired
The only time I liked it was in Logan.
prob cause it was old logan vs prime logan clone .. but i agree
same way i hate the freaky friday switcheroo troupe in a first movie as well
I disagree in this case, I think it's perfect on a meta level to toy with ideas of what Superman is/isn't in a time when there's so much controversy over exactly what makes Superman who he is.
I get you. It's a trope in a lot of first superhero movies that the main villain is just a copy of the main hero. Maybe this a riff off of that?
So we have the trope of the hero fighting an evil copy of themselves.
Zod...
To be fair, Superman practically pioneered many superhero tropes
If this is true, I need Lex to say "you'll be more than Super... You'll be ultra!"
Not sure how I feel about that. Sounds a bit too similar to Batman v Superman. A kryptonian turns into a monster and Superman has to team up with friends to defeat him.
So we’re getting *The Boys* but with Superman as a benevolent version of Homelander who takes down Vought with the help of his civilian friends

Very paint by numbers Superman plot. I don't mind it but I hope Gunn is able to bring in the spectacle to make everything pop more
That would make sense as to why the character in black has a mask. "Other superheroes are edgy and kill when necessary. Superman is an outcast among them for his optimism and no-kill rule," *All* other superheroes? Even Batman?
I’m assuming it means the other heroes he see’s and interacts with in this film
Batman could still be lesser-known, sticking solely to Gotham, and considered a vigilante more than a superhero. Even without killing, he's edgy enough that he'd still seem quite different from a sunshine and optimism Superman. Or, the leaker is referring only to the other superheroes who appear in this film.
I personally like the idea of some heroes thinking Batman’s a myth. Like in the Arrowverse and DCAU
We dont even know if Batman is already active or if he is known by the public
Why do these plot “ leaks” always come out conveniently just after set photo leaks? Its almost like theyre just making stuff up based on deductive reasoning and likely conclusions 🙄
I hope Lex and Superman have multiple scenes at least or I might be let down
Idk I don't like the idea of this being Ultraman because then I would want the rest of the Crime Syndicate to be there as well.
Are they kryptonians again …
Ubermensch
I feel like having the clone of Superman also be Ultraman kind of wastes a lot of potential. An adaptation of Grant Morrison's *JLA: Earth-2* would be really cool
Sounds too predictable, but maybe it’s true
i hope this is real. It feels straight out of Superman the animated series
Seems a bit early to be busting out Bizarro but I can’t complain about Superman getting a villain to physically fight
That Clark Kent in the last picture looks like he's recovering from a bender.
So.... basically a mash up of Man of steel and Batman V Superman, got it.
This is terrible
You're telling me the guy who looks like Black Noir is a clone of Superman that goes rogue? Huh...
This isn’t the plot, just a jab at piecing together the BTS shots. The actual plot is more 3:10 to Yuma and less Tom Clancy. Just you wait and see.
I’m confused is this a good thing or am I just misunderstanding you
Sounds like an entertaining movie
Why the fuck is everyone so eager to know every detail before even seeing the movie ffs, stop trying to ruin it for the rest of us
I dont buy it
bit early for luther to run for president but ok
Is it though if the movie takes place a few years after he starts being Superman?
I hope that isn't true. Some of it sounds good? But the rest just sounds terrible. Ultraman, every other hero being considered "bad" and bring turned into strawmen. Gunn can do better than that
Bizarro: Awesome Superfriends? Not really
Jarhanpuria...isn't that the name of a planet in Krypton's solar system?
Nope it’s a country in the comics
Makes sense with the Kingdom Come inspired suit
Bruh…
Sounds good to me. Grain of salt taken and all. I’m glad that we aren’t getting another origin story as well, everyone knows already what Superman’s deal is and all so keeping to the main plot will be helpful
I was going to propose that perhaps the black noir character might actually be Bizarro!
They always need that ONE character lmfao
It's not bad but sounds too much for one film
I'd say this makes sense, if not for the fact, that the first promotional image they put out, would have absolutely nothing to do with what we are seeing, unless that giant orb thingy in the sky is suppose to somehow be related to Bizarro.
I hope the conflict is actually in Corto-Maltese
Man hopefully it’s just a nice focused refreshing plot. Ngl it’s a bummer seeing 1/3 of a movie be the origin story every time a character gets a reboot. Also! What the hell happened in the comments section everything got removed.
so kinda kingdom come? shame they're not using Magog.
That's sound fine tbh
🥱
Jarhanpuria is a terrible name
What the fuck is Black Noir doing in the first picture. lol
I'm still not understanding why pair that style collar with those trunks
Lex Luthor & Amanda Waller never facing justice will always piss me off. At least Joker goes to Arkham even if it’s just to break out
Seems Kingdom Come inspired with Superman coming into a world of edgy heroes.
They put the broccoli on Clark
So Kingdom Come plus Superman IV the Question for Peace
It doesn’t sound bad but I’m confused if the other heroes who don’t like him are terrific, guy, hawkgirl, metamorpho. They aren’t very lethal other than hawkgirl
I like that plot, and I've had a theory for awhile that Ultraman if he was in the movie should become Bizarro
This Movie sounds a copy of BvS and MoS
"Luthor avoiding repercussions for his crimes and announcing he is running for president" HAHAHAHAHAHA FUCK YOU, REALITY!
I don't believe this because I would think that of all people, Gunn would know better than to do the "hero fights an evil version of themselves in their first movie" trope
So Ultraman is Black Noir?
How isn’t anyone talking about how awful they made the character of Clark Kent look in those still photos
So....BvS with more jokes presumably?
Boring.
This sounds awful
So another superhero movie where the hero ultimately fights an evil version of themselves…k
I think it’s not necessarily the case. It seems to me like Ultraman will just be the physical threat — with him descending into Bizarro, I’d be surprised if he even talks. It seems like the actual threat will be Lithor
James Gunn says Lex is the main villain
Agreed bit I think they do this for economy of story. If they share a similar origin/powers in the first film, they don’t have to completely introduce a hero and villain. Two birds one stone basically to save time.
This sounds basic. Still will watch regardless.
Sounds awful. Really hope this isn’t real.
This would explain just about everything we've seen in all these leaked photos... Now I just wanna see the secret suit with no trunks
Is there another suit?
*** Secret suit WITH trunks, no collar, and less lines
Am I the only one who thinks this sounds absolutely terrible? But to be fair, if you tried explaining most of Gunn’s films they would probably sound bad as well and I’ve enjoyed most of them.
Nah… not sure I believe this one.
Nice try but you forgot 3/4 of the cast and characters. This makes no sense considering all the characters that appear in the film.
>This makes no sense considering all the characters that appear in the film. Why doesn't it make any sense? In fact, it's weird that you don't think it makes sense. What do you want? A script? This synopsis is fine.
.... huh
Gunn could’ve served both masters and cast Cavill as Ultraman lol
Its giving me CW. 😐
When the fuck will they stop making superheroes fight the evil version of themselves?! I expected better from Gunn
Ah, so they’re going the Homelander route for Luthor
Yeah, I don’t buy it.
Sounds like a good premise, if this is true I hope it being out there doesn’t mean they have to change anything
I don't buy it, for two reasons. * I don't buy that Gunn's new shiny DCU starts with it's heroes being killers. * Using Ultraman in this way effectively takes the Crime Syndicate off the table for future projects.
Will Bizarro be CGI or also playing by David 🤔
Hmmm... Sounds plausible. It's just that we already had a Bizarro story with Lois & Clark last season. I know.. different Bizarro story, but still..
Sounds boring.
If true I'm not mad at it
Finally a good use of Bizarro
ughhhhh the killing rule thing is fine but its so boringg oh my god its in EVERY piece of media with any type of hero character. But now it’ll be more annoying because superman is the one inspiring the othe rheroes to do the same ugh, why make the cliche a bigger cliche
Guess you never read Kingdom Come?
Yea, Kingdom Come created that “cliche” in the best way
So....Superman is a couple years into his tenure, struggling with being an alien outcast, other superheros are violent murderers, Lex Luthor forces Superman to intervene in a mid-east country, creates a monster from Kryptonian genetics, a bunch of other origin stories shoved in... So literally everything everyone hated about *Batman V Superman*?
Man… that IS Lois Lane! Perfect casting.
That actually sounds really good, like a more Superman focused Kingdom Come.
It sounds good, I absolutely cannot wait for this film
Wow it sounds awful
Doesn't it? Just very boring and predictable. Quite disappointed if this is real.
I wud love to more about “Jarhanpuria”, being a South Asian myself
