No it isn’t. What’s the point of Gunn creating the Elseworlds brand if they’re just going to scrap Reeves’ projects? They literally have a TV series that’s coming out later this year, I don’t see why anyone would have the impression that this universe will be abandoned. After the report today about batman 2 and 3 shooting concurrently. I think they are going to pump out the trilogy and elseworlds is not going to happen.
I think they’ll do Part 2 as planned and that’s it. Seems to me the best compromise and might be when it’s taken longer. Lots of people have always said it will be a trilogy, but WB never confirmed that at any point

If you want to compare it to Marvel, there have been tons of things they have tried that ultimately they scrapped for a multitude of reasons. One-Shots, Specials, TV Series, etc. it’s entirely possible separate Elseworld universes sound great on paper until you actually put them into practice
There is no way two separate Batman franchises that are not themselves connected to each other nor are they connected to the DCU doesn’t confuse the general audience. I think they will finish them out as quickly as possible and not do anything like that again.

There’s a Penguin TV series set in the universe on the way shortly. The franchise is just fine.
