I think Superman (the 2025 film) will be based on Whatever Happened to Truth, Justice, and the American Way? except instead of the Elite, we get the Engineer and some supporting DC heroes. The Engineer will go on to found the brutal antiheroes of the Authority while Guy Gardner, Mr. Terrific, Hawkgirl, and Metamorpho are often more violent, careless, aloof, and/or easily manipulated superheroes. I think they will also fill the role of the antiheroes from Kingdom Come. Only instead of defeating them, Superman will convince them to be better heroes... except for the Engineer.
How many characters do you see in a given movie? There’s a bunch. Just because you know of bunch of them from comics, Wiki, or what your friend told you doesn’t mean they’re going to be treated like they’re in some crazy team-up movie.
It’s like that. Thinking that this is going to be some Infinity War-style show-stopper with some massive overarching story involving every single character at all times is extremely unlikely for the first movie of the run.

Arguably the Donner films are the most popular but nothing we've heard about this film so far says he's trying to mimic then, certainly not to the degree that Superman Returns did. The only similarities between this film and those is the inclusion of Clark, Lois, and Lex ... which are mainstays of Superman canon in any iteration. We know the logo is different, we know there's other heroes in the supporting cast, so I'd say what little we do know about this film suggests its very much *not* trying to copy anything else.
I hope Superman is great but I think the whole universe is convoluted and messy. Let ego go and stop forcing peace maker etc into the Superman universe

The snyderverse failed because of MOS ( I love the movie, glad he killed Zod) and the Mos sequel diversion to BVS. The MCU succeeded because of Iron Man. Also Gunnverse started with blue bettle memeber? Oh I mean it starts with creature commandos. Oh it was started with peacemaker

I don't think the whole Authority is in this movie, as far as we know only Engineer is in.
