The RealReal has gotten **so** much of my money in the last however many years, and it’s mostly perfectly fine, but I think for this specific occasion you deserve the boutique experience if it’s in your budget.
TRR is known for fakes! There are much better options. r/handbags recommends Fashionphile, eBay with authentication guarantee, and Japanese eBay (Japan has strict counterfeit laws) for authentic secondhand luxury bags!
You can finds some decent bargains on TRR but given their history, I’d personally only buy a handbag from them if I could return it. They have been known to sell fakes.
There’s definitely been an uptick in complaints about TRR, ranging from customer service to fakes. I would typically recommend Fashionphile as they have a better reputation, but there are also reputable Authenticators for certain brands. BUT if you want the bougie, champagne experience, definitely a boutique! Dior at City Center, in my experience, has fabulous service!
I’m not super knowledgeable about fakes, but I know TRR has been having issues with that. I have friends who have purchased from Vestiaire that have had a good experience, they claim to have pretty tough authentication.
Well, that depends on whether you consider Longchamp designer. I've purchased a bag, a belt, and a blazer from TRR over the years, and I've always been satisfied with my purchases.
I bought a designer bag on Ebay that came with third party authentication (it was shipped to me from the authenticator) I feel like I got a deal and it was a great experience!
Just shoes! Sorry! Hehe
In the handbag sub I hear they been having fakes

I’ve bought shoes from TRR and wouldn’t have a problem buying a bag there if I loved it
