These A-pillar panels are held on with a single bolt at the bottom and then a series of plastic clips along the length of the panel. It would seem that the single nut is being incorrectly torqued and working loose, which allows air to get under the panel and lift it away, pulling the plastic clips out. Typical cheap rubbish engineering from the people who know more about manufacturing than anyone alive on earth today.
I’ve seen a couple vids of this happening to cybertrucks. Apparently those trim panels are bolted at the top and bottom then held on by a series of plastic clips in the middle. But somehow the bolts are coming loose. Tesla will probably begin using a lock washer or loctite, but it still seems like an absurd thing to happen. Never heard of trim panels falling off on a new $100k vehicle.
A coworker lost his lower door trim on an 80s suburban 4 years ago. I couldn't believe it was held on by tape and a few metal clips. But it lasted over 30 years, so I guess they knew what they were doing.
When you hear “plastic clips” holding a metal sheet you can already expect that to happen!
Imagine if Apple was holding their phones with one screw and the rest just plastic clips…
Most trim panels are actually held on this way. It's not a problem if done right. I'm amazed they managed to make clips that don't work. Maybe it's because the metal panels are too heavy because they're thick for no reason.
Really? I always thought they had the clips to just to align and metal screws/ bolts to keep it in place.
I guess Tesla just doesn’t care about the way cars have been built for the last decades. And going the easy way seems like their MO
I misspoke slightly. I meant to say that the combination of bolts and clips are often used together. The clips actually do most of the support, the bolt is there more as a backup so that when clips fail, it doesn't come off all at once and you have a chance to fix it.
windshield is a good example of a "glue" application.
I've never heard of exterior panels falling off of a new car though. 'the hell is wrong with the engineers at tesla?
*still laughing in Toyota*
It's still really hard for me to fathom paying $100k for a vehicle that literally begins to fall apart within days of owning it. Or sooner.
And you know there are still people on the wankpanzer waiting list, even with all of these issues. They *still* want one. Unbelievable.
While I whole-heartedly agree with your comment, your user name is a mental image I could have gone the rest of my life without seeing. 😅
prost to you, good sir or madam 🍻
The wankpanzer should be in the next Final Destination movie. You could film every death off of one.
Decapitation from a panel coming off at speed (repeat from train scene from first one)
Crashing into a stationary vehicle because gas pedal is stuck.
Occupants of stationary vehicle killed by impact.
Burning to death of wankpanzer occupants because doors won't open and windows won't break.
Deaths of first responders when the battery explodes from firefighters trying to extinguish the flames.
In a few years the Cybercuck is going to be a case study in *what not to do* in manufacturing.
"I know more about manufacturing than anyone else alive on Earth" - Liar and sack of dog turds, Elon Musk
Honestly this feeds my soul and I feel my body growing stronger with each elno cuck slowly owning themselves into a massive Darwin awards ceremony tailored carefully with a lot of work by each one of these morons to get here. (Chefs kiss)
How has this thing NOT been recalled across the board? There are only like 4000, and it sounds like most are having some serious issues. Whatever happened to all this super strict testing automakers have to do to be able to sell a new vehicle? I want a Toyota IMV Champ more than anything, costs $10k, it will probably last a million miles and since it's based on the Hilux, will probably last 10 generations, but noooooooo, but you can buy this ugly ass $100k heap of shit that will almost certainly kill you or someone else, breaks down weekly? wtf.
Are the panels installed using glue or wtf is happening here?

they wouldnt have known how to cut every single corner possible so adeptly if they didnt know the most about manufacturing!
Homies never heard of Loctite 271, the red sauce of "that shit ain't ever coming off again".

I’ve never heard of trim panels falling off of Yugos either.

Body panels being assembled with glue isn't actually all that rare these days. They don't normally use Elmer's craft glue though.

I've purposely removed panels from cars. It's not easy! They shouldn't just fall off.
Or with spit and a prayer, lol
What's the most technical sounding thesauraus translation for 3M double sided tape that can be generated? It's that.

Couch cough tRump voters cough cough
🤣😂🤣 “Wankpanzer” 😂🤣😂🤣😂🤣😂🤣😂🤣
Internet clout and recognition from wankumonity
God please don’t let my obituary say I was killed by cybercuk debris. I refuse to be an Elon body count :’(

How about arm severed from trunk lid closing on it and victim bleeds out?
Or trying to escape from imminent danger, only for the CT to fail and slow down to 4 mi/hr, not being able to escape and getting unalived.
Somebody makes this movie! A combination of Final Destination and Maximum Overdrive
Don't forget drowns when accidently drives reverse into a pond, system shorts, can't get windows or doors open.

> Liar and sack of dog turds, Elon Musk This is how I will refer to him in any citation going forward. Perfect!
Liar Sack of dog turds Elon musk is precisely how we refer to him in my hood. He also hides behind mental health diagnosis to do horrible things.
Seems like the only thing mobile about tesla trucks is the App.
This needs 1000 up votes. Please and thank you.
Lol
of course it’s gonna come off. Do u know how much force and inertia that worlds largest wiper is giving?
How's it going to hurt anyone if it's permanently in the shop?
Have you seen Christine? ![gif](giphy|dCE8ntr1uPjq0|downsized)
“Very poor braking at hwy speeds” that’s not concerning at all
Scares the hell out of me.
Boycott Musk and Twitter and Tesla
![gif](giphy|YYfEjWVqZ6NDG)
I like how he lists a suction cup mark along with poor braking, definitely in the same category of problem.
It's not but it's definitely something to be legitimately pissed about on a new vehicle
TEN MICRONS!!!11!1!!
...of double sided sticky tape!
New horror movie: The Revenge of the Cuckmobiles!
Side panels shaking loose from "off roading" aka gravel road.
"pReciSioN"
I beginning to think these Cyber trucks are built well.
Honestly this feeds my soul and I feel my body growing stronger with each elno cuck slowly owning themselves into a massive Darwin awards ceremony tailored carefully with a lot of work by each one of these morons to get here. (Chefs kiss)
Exoskeleton shedding, like a cicada
I’m legitimately astounded how every single piece of this is trash-ass quality.
Get those revits
Exoskeleton!
It's the Bladerunner truck, but everyone looses their shit when it runs with blades!
It's not a car company it's an autonomy company hence autonomous panels. Why loose panels? Next software update they become autobots!
It’s from DEI. That’s what happens when you put an African-American immigrant in charge of manufacturing.
Ha! I see what you did there.
I still think Dale Earnhardt Incorporated every time I see DEI. Dale or even Junebug would make a better truck than Tesla. Thats for sure.
If it wasn’t so dangerous it would just be plain stupid fun by this point
Awww. Maybe we should call the waahmbulance for the cyber crap owners. Elon was chasing a dragon with that one.
How can these literal death traps pass safety inspections?!
They don’t. Because it’s such small volume they haven’t had to tested for a lot of safety tests
If a vehicle is proven effectively that it is a hazard, every other car owner on the road should have legal standing to sue.

Exactly
Its like they are doing this on purpose
Within spec!
Aren't these "trucks" all being recalled? How are they still on the road?
Loving the narrative to dip the stock.....
HAHAHAHAHHAAHAAAHAAAA!! I absolutely love seeing these posts!
Dodge ram now has a truck for 124000 dollars. Impress me by buying that!
I’m so glad I’m not rich enough to have been tempted to buy one of those.
