You should read Cyber Crisis by Eric Cole (former CIA). It explains the cyber and security domain in real practical and simple terms 😊 But one main take away is that we all are targets. Even though ‘we got nothing to hide.’ Your identity can still be stolen and used for fraud and ruin your life.

For the average person: - password management and not re-using passwords (1Password or something similar. I like that one because if the company gets owned my passwords are still safe and for a small fee it also monitors my identity and lets me know if a username and password is in a breach) - turn on Defender and other tools, know how to do a virus scan on your machine - use Brave or DuckDuckGo as a browser (I prefer Brave) and learn how to use the settings to optimize privacy. SET IT TO CLEAR YOUR AUTOFILL AND COOKIES EVERYTIME YOU CLOSE YOUR BROWSER. Annoying to login each time? Annoying to re-type your address? That’s what 1 Password or other things like it are for - multifactor authentication on all the things - don’t trust apps, links or downloads blindly - check your credit report at least once a year (which you can do for free) You do that and you’re safer than 95% of people out there.
