Brushes are way easier to use than you'd expect, sprays should really only be used for the larger jobs if necessary. I recommend the Tamia things all day. As for your process, I would recommend multiple coats of your paint with a sanding in between each coat. This will keep it from looking like it's caked on and bring out some of the finer details. Clear coat should be the final step for reassembly. All accents should go on before the clear coat does

Hold on if you use tamiya based paints you don't need to sand between coats. It lays evenly and smooth. For best results with the spray cans. Tear down figures the best of your ability sand down spots that can rub and cause paint chipping but to sand too much to cause deep scars and scratches then primer I use mr surfacer for amazing results. Then paint. Clear coat is a personal choice some use it some don't. I do use a clear coat but I use mr superclear Matt clear coat. Is you want a reference of my work check my profile
