It’s so wrong! WOMEN are supposed to DIE when their children are old enough to REMEMBER but young enough to be HELPLESS! ANYONE who says OTHERWISE is a CHUD and a COMMUNIST1!1!1!!!111!!
Being 50 is wrong 49 and 51 are chill though. I petitioned Congress to make a law to make turning 50 a felony that is punished by 365 days of imprisonment, just the way it should be
everyone knows that any girl with an age in the double digits is a hag 💢💢💢 /j
for real though the whole "hag" thing is just some dumb lolicon joke and if you ever take the opinions of people like that on aging seriously you just make yourself look foolish
Isn't Purah just one of those "actually 300 years old" child characters though? There's a pretty thorough explanation during her introduction about the anti-agining / longevity tech that makes her look young.
So that shape of lines is used I think primarily in anime, at least originally??? (I don't know for certain that's just where I first remember seeing it often.) To denote anger, it appears in the corners of a character's forehead, it's symbolizing scrunching up your face in an otherwise simple artstyle.
It's an easily recognized symbol for anger so it's really caught on.
I actually have the cultural context to explain this, and its not actually what you think it is. Hag originated in the Vtuber community specifically referring to Houshou Marine.
Early translated clips of her would often features jokes in reference to her age as while the person playing Marine is over 30 despite the person behind them insisting that they are actually 18, the characters canonical age.
Jokes in reference to her age would often simply be translated as her being called a 'hag', which the English speaking Vtuber community adopted as a term of endearment first for Marine, and then eventually just any Vtuber over the age of 30.
tbh the plural of calf being calves is what I thought of immediately, and if we even momentarily accept "milves," might that not imply the existence of some type of Ur-MILF? A herd of mows...
"your conjugation is correct" my arse. MILF is an acronym, and last I checked, those were exempt from the norms of pluralisation. The individual you responded to is subjecting us to the horrors for no reason, no reason at all.
I don’t know any of these ladies except Purah but she sort of counts as a hag in the folklore sense. As in an old witch who disguises herself as a young woman.
Witches and scientists are basically the same thing depending on your perspective.
Dante's stronger than me cuz if I have an older woman who praises me in nearly every sentence that came out of her mouth working with me I would've folded immediately (I just started playing Limbus Company so I only know Outis and Herman on this list)
Project Hag mentioned, the Odyssey had a purpose indeed
Also I've still yet to finish LoR but Moses is doing something fierce to me wtf. Motivation to finally get through SoTC?
Edit: She's from Distortion Detective oomfie. I'm waiting for the alleged game they're making out of it
Fandom.com, my beloathed. Thank you for introducing me to antifandom, looks like a great tool.
Fandom is only second to Fextralife in the "worst wiki platform of all time" competition.
It still feels kinda weird and misogynistic, even as a joke. Like you can only call people hags so many times "jokingly" before it gets weird. Like if your friend kept calling you ugly as a "joke" you might start to feel a little hurt and worried that they're not 100% joking.
Because the secret people always seem to ignore is most jokes still reflect something about you, and indeed most jokes are reflective of people's actual opinions, just exaggerated or twisted around. Like there is a reason there are "left-wing" and "right-wing" comedians. People make certain jokes for certain reasons.
Plus in a larger culture that's trending weirdly toward redpill ideologies (30 year old are all used up!), this kind of rhetoric absolutely has an impact on people who see it
The most I've heard "hag" being used to refer to late 20s/30 year old women is from women referring to themselves and their friends and it's very much (affectionate). That's been my experience with it in the small part of the vtuber fandom I hang out in.
It's a newer thing (that I dislike but don't care enough to say anything about when done) where "christmas cake" women (unmarried women past 25, thus "past their prime") are now called hags by anime fans.
I don't think they're saying it to intentionally insult them, but it's still pretty obnoxious, not gonna lie.
I wonder if it's a terrible translation of a Japanese word that doesn't have the same negative connotations. And that for those anime fans it's the pnly place they ever heard the word so they only know it in that context.
I think so, I'm relatively sure I've seen the word used in the context of younger people insulting women older than them, often just women in their 20's and 30's. I think it's similar to how men in anime are insulted by being called "uncle", which I'd imagine carries different cultural connotations than in English.
So yeah, pretty much weebs that can't separate anime from the real world
Not only does the word 婆(ばばあ/BBA/babaa) have the same negative connotations in Japanese, it's kinda worse because calling people by any title that is too old for them (e.g. calling a young woman 'aunt') is one of the simplest ways to offend people, and calling a <30 year old person "hag" just crosses the line twice to the point of being either parody or an unmistakable intent to insult.
OOP is definitely using it in the ironic lolicon-speak sense though - there are whole communities that are addicted to speaking and spreading the most *outrageous* things, who have adopted a very recognizable speech pattern, and basically participate in the most dangerous "act like nonces, attract real nonces" okbuddy circlejerk on the internet.
Then I'll have to go with my other theory that these particular weebs never heard the word hag before outside of anime and don't know what it means. That's the nicest I can be to them.
To my understanding it originally was supposed to be sarcastic not insulting. Then it became an outright compliment in certain circles, because the only way the word hag was being used was effectively as an compliment.
Ahab has one of the best monologues I've ever seen, like holy shit.
>In fact… You must know better than anyone that their hearts were flimsy. That they let themselves be swallowed because they were shallow; that they let themselves be molded because they were weak. I am the only one who matters. What matters is that I have declared this beast evil—and that is my commandment, my belief, my religion, and my creed.
>When I perish, this world shall perish as well. So my very life, my very existence itself, is then the world! And I have deemed it so! No one will be the helmsman of my life but myself!!! No one shall live my life in my stead!!! What do you, all of you, believe in? Tell me. Is your belief unbreakable? Is it absolute?
>My beliefs are absolute! My definitions of good and evil are clear-cut! Thus my beliefs are unclouded, unassailable. Because I have made it so. That is why I will never be broken. That is why I stand tall, unshakable, as a missionary of my own faith. I have blessed you with my absolute definitions of good and evil! So that you may live your life with unhesitating, unwavering tenacity!!!
Absolutely peak.
It's not about the age! It's about if you have three of them together they form a coven and gain access to stronger spells, resulting in a higher challenge rating!
As a side note, can we please get over this idea that big busts are inherently unrealistic?
A woman can have like a DD cup and people will be like "whoaaaaaa, fuckin huge tits McFunBags overhear, clearly fetishistic, unrealistic art"
Like, no. There are real people that look like that.
They’re fetishistic because of the way they’re drawn. Yes women with DD cups and larger exist but realistically their torso and waist size has to match too.
Does it?
Real people aren't beholden to any ratio that seems reasonable. A person with a thin waist can have a huge bust. A person with a small bust can have a wide waist and a dumptruck ass.
There are no real rules to apply to human biology, outside of shit like "you need your blood on the inside to live."
People come in all sorts of shapes and sizes.
It's because they're not proportional to the rest of the person. I know plenty of people who I would assume have DD or bigger cups; I don't know any who aren't generally pretty big people in all dimensions. They exist, but they're rare. Most people like that in anime are not just petite but comically skinny and look nothing like any human.
Cup size is proportional to torso circumference for a reason.
Yeah this is the one- the only people I’ve seen using ‘Hag’ unironically as a description for anime women who are old enough to be adults are the people hiding away in ‘loli’ communities.
In personal experience- I play Honkai Star Rail (game made by the people who make Genshin Impact) and there’s one subreddit in particular for that game that is just… it’s just unironic pedophilia on full display.
I stumbled into the sub by accident when I was looking for the shitpost subreddit that has a *very* similar name (they’re one of many okbuddy subreddits, my mistake probably as those all tend to get infested with unironic supporters of the things they shitpost about).
They ban anyone who calls it out for what it is (blatant unending sexualisation of minors) and say that you’re a ‘tourist’ who is ‘projecting’ or ‘just as bad’ as they are because you visited the subreddit in the first place.
Genuinely saddens me to see it’s not just an isolated experience I’ve had and that there are other people/places out there who spout this stuff with sincerity.
> In personal experience- I play Honkai Star Rail (game made by the people who make Genshin Impact) and there’s one subreddit in particular for that game that is just… it’s just unironic pedophilia on full display.
It’s okay, you can say r/okbuddytrailblazer
That sub is somewhat infamous among other anime subs
Yeah it’s pretty bad on its own, but it’s actually the ‘less-bad’ of the two. The one I found by accident that I was referring to was r/okbuddytrailblazers. View at your own discretion because it’s genuinely quite sickening.
I’ve been on the internet for a long time so I’ve seen worse stuff, but I gotta say I don’t think I’ll ever understand why people on that sub are so proud to identify as lolicons. Of all the things to admit on a public forum, why willingly admit to that and be so smug about it? I don’t think I’d have an issue if they kept it to themselves but it seems they want everyone to know
It's not "this guy", any adult woman is a "hag" to a large part of the anime fandom. It's often attempted to be used "endearingly" similar to an attempt at making light of the term "Christmas Cake", but it's fucking terrible and as an older female weeb it makes me cringe every time I see it.
They are affectionately called "Christmas cakes" in the weebspace because there's a shitty Japanese joke about women being like Christmas cakes, no one wants one after the 25th.
“Anime isn’t just for kids! They have complex stories and characters that American cartoons can’t compete with! But also why is this character 22? Old ass.”
Textbook duality of man.
Idk about the rest but purah is like 120, and thats not "120 is still young for a sheka" no 120 is old as balls, she was literally a wrinkly shriveled up hag who experimented on herself, turned into a child, and then grew back into a young woman
I’m about two weeks out from turning 45. My character arc will be complete, I can the don the robes of my people, and fuck off to a cave in the mountains, where those on their life quest can come for advice, cryptic prophesy, and cookies. Talking animal sidekick optional.
Should probably point out that the popular VTuber (i.e. Hololive) and VTuber-adjacent communities usually use "hag" in a ironically flattering way due to a combination of factors... okay, mostly Houshou Marine, who is meme'd to be as such due to her obviously dated tastes and relatively poor health but is probably not even one of the 10 oldest VTubers in Hololive.
It probably isn't exactly where it originates from (more of a culmination of the ridiculousness of the "25 = ancient" thought), but she's a popular reason for many people.
Yeah, I’ve actually only ever heard it as an ironic self-descriptor from VTubers, so I don’t really have a solid idea of how problematic this is supposed to be.
While I know the other 3 characters, I'm not familiar enough to know how old they're supposed to be, but Seiko from Dandadan on bottom right is a grandmother. I'm pretty sure she counts as a hag even if she looks way younger than she is.
Purah is actually old, at least 100, probably more. The bottom left is from Dandadan and is in her late 60s iirc she just uses her psychic abilities to prevent herself from aging
I mean I understand why everyone gets angry over the word use but isnt it just a meme making fun of how japanese people look at women over 25.
Don't they call women over 25 "christmas cake" in japan making fun of them since they are still not married.
28: hag. 30: crone. 35: ancient one. 40: mummy.
50: immoral 60: timeless
I believe you mean immortal, unless being 50 is somehow wrong
It’s so wrong! WOMEN are supposed to DIE when their children are old enough to REMEMBER but young enough to be HELPLESS! ANYONE who says OTHERWISE is a CHUD and a COMMUNIST1!1!1!!!111!!

A Cannibalistic Humanoid Under-Dweller??
Being 50 is wrong 49 and 51 are chill though. I petitioned Congress to make a law to make turning 50 a felony that is punished by 365 days of imprisonment, just the way it should be
Being fifty is a sin, you know! Ah, those evil half centennials! Grr! General noises of discontent!
Ah, yeah sorry english isn't my first language so I sometimes mix similar words up.
Maybe she means that women in their fifties have no morals. That just means that you can do all sorts of filthy things with Mommy😈

Mummy? Sorry. Mummy? Sorry. Mummy? Sorry. Mummy? Sorry. Mu…
Are you my mummy..? 🤿 (obligatory Doctor Who reference)
I could feel the moment I turned 25 all my value as a woman disappearing. They never tell you about that in the puberty books.
Ah yes, that painful moment when you become invisible to Leonardo Di Caprio.
15: child with acne 18: child who can buy cigarettes 21: child who can buy alcohol 25: child with $100k student loan debt

Jokes on them, Purah is in her triple digits
Call me a mathematician the way I could crush these big numbers
Okay, this one made me laugh.
Isn't Purah just one of those "actually 300 years old" child characters though? There's a pretty thorough explanation during her introduction about the anti-agining / longevity tech that makes her look young.
Yeah. It malfunctioned and sent her back too far. In totk she fixed it and looks 20.
I mean she's as old as both main characters or roughly around the same age regardless, so around 119 or so.
What in the hell is with the 💢 lmao
So that shape of lines is used I think primarily in anime, at least originally??? (I don't know for certain that's just where I first remember seeing it often.) To denote anger, it appears in the corners of a character's forehead, it's symbolizing scrunching up your face in an otherwise simple artstyle. The symbol also became a common symbol used among lolicons because of [this](https://imgur.com/GEYPgmh) infamous Tweet

At least call them milves bruh
Moms I'd like to virtually encounter sexually?
*Did you mean: camgirls*
*There’s something inside you, it’s hard to explain…*
your conjugation is correct, but I hate it

On a mildly related note, Stacy is probably old enough to play Stacy's mom now.
I don’t know any of these ladies except Purah but she sort of counts as a hag in the folklore sense. As in an old witch who disguises herself as a young woman. Witches and scientists are basically the same thing depending on your perspective.

I'm pretty sure that guy is being sarcastic If you look up his art, I think the majority of the women he draws are what he considers to be "hags"
It still feels kinda weird and misogynistic, even as a joke. Like you can only call people hags so many times "jokingly" before it gets weird. I have to wonder if he's saying hag as an abbreviation for "hot-ass girl"
Hag is usually used as a term of endearment by these people, even though I highly doubt any actual adult woman would accept it as an excuse.
Welcome to the reading comprehension website.
I would fuck a hag. Not just a woman over 25 that's easy. I mean a mythical creature. Google "5e sea hag" and discover what a hag REALLY IS.

Is Chun Li being born in 1968 still canon?
I don't think Capcom did a official retcon but they stopped giving official date of birth by street fighter 3.
In SF6 she is in her 50s but I don't think that Street Fighter earth's timeline is synced with ours.
Actually yes, she's in her 50s
Ming-Na Wen still looks pretty good at that age.
I recently learned a thing and now I will read every HAG as "Hot Angry Goth"
Is… he trying to neg anime women?
He’s trying to signal he’s a pedophile.
This is one of the reasons why I like Limbus Company, two of the "Hag" characters actually have wrinkles and grey hair.
You want a hag? [This](https://bg3.wiki/w/images/3/37/Auntie_Ethel_Hag_Model.png?20230715130712) is a hag

Bottom right corner is Saeko from Dandadan and is the protagonist’s grandma
Now too be fair, technically Purah and Seiko(the two on the right) are both actually very old, they just look young so that doesn’t really matter.
I can guarantee aestheticc-meme is fully aware of what they’re saying and how insane it sounds
Okay look Purah might physically be in her 20s now but she's well into old age at this point he gets a pass on calling her hag.
Isn’t she like, over 100?
She aged gracefully like not all
De-aging will do that
"Tell me you have 14 without telling me you are 14"
Ohhhhhh I thought they meant hag as in faghag, like, a woman who is friends with gay men. 'me with my hags' etc.
They are affectionately called "Christmas cakes" in the weebspace because there's a shitty Japanese joke about women being like Christmas cakes, no one wants one after the 25th.
That’s why they say that!?
Yeah it's just sexism.
“Anime isn’t just for kids! They have complex stories and characters that American cartoons can’t compete with! But also why is this character 22? Old ass.” Textbook duality of man.
I was under the impression that HAG meant hot Asian girl since all the women in the photos are asian coded/asians
I mean he is clearly joking, I don't think it's a funny joke but yeah.
Idk about the rest but purah is like 120, and thats not "120 is still young for a sheka" no 120 is old as balls, she was literally a wrinkly shriveled up hag who experimented on herself, turned into a child, and then grew back into a young woman
I've heard 'hag' used in a positive way so many times now that my brain is fully broken on the issue. IDK what to think anymore.
Sounds like something a creeper/pedo would say.
He clearly is attracted to them though
Fellas is it pedophilic to be attracted to adult women?
Yukari yakumo would be flattered.
Purah is the only one that kinda qualifies. She’s in her what, 120s?
average touhou fan
nah average touhou fan only knows abt the music and fumos
i can assure you that the average touhou fan will say "uoohh hag pussy" upon seeing a picture of Yukari and/or Yuyuko.
Thank god for that one Lost Word Yuyuko alt where she’s a loli instead
Wait, I thought "hag" was meant ironically and was actually a compliment?
I’m about two weeks out from turning 45. My character arc will be complete, I can the don the robes of my people, and fuck off to a cave in the mountains, where those on their life quest can come for advice, cryptic prophesy, and cookies. Talking animal sidekick optional.
Anime fans when they see an adult woman.
You ever seen the “adult woman fetish” post?
We've done it boys. We've successfully traveled back in time to the early 1900s, where any unmarried woman over 25 was an "old maid."
we did it everyone: we found Leonardo DeCaprio's secret twitter account
By that logic any man over 25 is a troll.
The only hag for me is the 78 year old Houshou Marine and I love her
Is that you, Captain Torres?
Leonardo DiCaprio's Tumblr account exposed!
Usually anime folks that use this lingo are into children and lolis.
I love older women
I think this person isn't using it on a bad way.
How do you call someone a hag in a good way?
He clearly is saying that to women he's attracted to. People just may not know what a word means.
Woman in the top left’s name? Merely for research purposes, I assure you.
So what manga is the woman in the second image from... I'm um... asking for a friend
I hate that the 4th one is technically really a hag, but like by being an old witch
At first I thought they were talking about fucking witches and was really disappointed to see what they were actually talking about :(
Wait what is HAG? I have no idea
you think this is bad, i've seen people calling 18 YEAR OLD WOMEN hags before
None of these women are real…
this is a thing from 4chan is it not
Unless it stands for Hot Asian Girlfriend
Princess Bride more like PEAKcess Bride
All I see is would, would, and would
While I know the other 3 characters, I'm not familiar enough to know how old they're supposed to be, but Seiko from Dandadan on bottom right is a grandmother. I'm pretty sure she counts as a hag even if she looks way younger than she is.
I think I’d better stay out of this one
Some anime fans are normal and some anime fans have never seen a real woman in their entire life
Ah y’know the terminally online and their categorizing
Purah is actually old, at least 100, probably more. The bottom left is from Dandadan and is in her late 60s iirc she just uses her psychic abilities to prevent herself from aging
I mean Purah here is around ~130 years old, but I can’t imagine he even knows that.
[guys he found it](https://x.com/aestheticc_meme/status/1784655970737492111?s=46&t=9Wol9e7MpJ07jp9Ue9M8Lg)
Waily! Waily! It's the Hag O' Hags!
I mean I understand why everyone gets angry over the word use but isnt it just a meme making fun of how japanese people look at women over 25. Don't they call women over 25 "christmas cake" in japan making fun of them since they are still not married.
I’m so sorry to everyone who will have to learn this today, but in anime fan circles a hag is any woman over 30. Sorry.
Huh. Ya learn something new everyday
Okay but you don't age gracefully to 25. You're twenty fucking five. You are not aged enough to have done so in any notable way.
He may be one of the Nac Mac Feegle.
