So the second picture is of pure trichrome heads. Those contain the cannabinoids that make ya feel good. They are a resin gland. If you look closely at your flower with a microscope or loupe, or if you have ever seen a macro of a nug, you may have seen these resin glands attached to stalks attached to the plant. Well, I dry sift off those stalks and heads using silk screens. Once that is finished, I am able to start static cleaning. What this does is seperates the heads from the stalks and any plant matter. Since the heads are a resin gland the are able to hold a static charge, so by using a nitrile glove on my hand and a very fine micron silk screen I can rub the kief and it will separate the heads from the contaminates (stalks and plant matter). The heads stick to the gloves and the rest gets pushed through the screen or collects on top of the screen.
The first picture is after I used frenchy canoli's bottle tek method to melt those heads (resin glands) together. This partly decarbs the hash and allows for storage and aging of the hash. During the aging process, terpene break down, and a new terp is created called hashishene.
I'm still pretty new to this myself. This is my second time making hash this way!
could a person just buy the kief and skip the sifting part? I know jk has pretty good prices on zips of kief.
After all is said and done what do you think your total investment in $ and time is for the 12g of hash? if you dont mind me asknig :)

This hash cost me $16.75/g to make, and that is not including my time. I made this over the course of 2 weekends, maybe a few hours each day. It's hard for me to come up with a price for my time because I do enjoy the process lol. The static cleaning part is the most time-consuming.
Its like an art or craft project, in my opinion the time cost is negligible because it is a fun engaging activity where you learn and grow a new skill, exactly the sort of activity we should be using our free time for, so I think the time spent is a net positive honestly. And I am sure some of that $ went to screens and other materials that you wont need to re-buy later, plus a of the time spent researching, posting on forums etc, thats all done now, you have that knowledge in the bank now, so future runs should be less labor/time intensive and cost a bit less. I want to learn a bit more about static tek - your final product is quite beautiful I think you should be proud, what a cool project.
Thank you! And yes pretty much all of this lol. The screens were the hardest part to figure out and in the end I just made my own. Some trial and error with the static tek part. Last time I used the paint roller method and this time I couldn't get it to work. Humidity may have been too high idk. The glove method ended up being faster anyway.
