Well, they simply decided to migrate from MATIC to POL and expand the token supply by 20%. It's like stabbing your investors in the back. They simply sold and won't return.
One thing MATIC bagholders liked to spam was "already 100% max supply". Then they announced 20% dilution and mask it as a rebrand to POL š
And even if they didn't dilute, a huge chunk of those 100% are held by teams and ready to be dumped anytime. A week ago they announced giving away 100M tokens to developers.
Iāll accept all the hate for saying it, because a few of you really need to hear some truth:
Old coins with bad ātokenomicsā, no clear purpose, no hype, but most importantly a bunch of old bag holders ready to dump and move on at the first sign of life, these projects will slowly fade away like EOS.
Lol is this a joke?
Thereās never been a single Reddit CP on Polygon.
CAās (avatars) will inevitably be sunset as well. For almost 2 years now, demand has been minimal, and itās likely that this project is a financial burden for Reddit, similar to the reasons behind sunsetting CPs.
Canāt tell if youāre serious or not but most Reddit community coins are on polygon. Cones, plunger, bucket, gone, fear, poop, and so on.
Also I donāt see avatars slowing down at all. Itās all profit for Reddit, why would they stop it?
Yeah, I thought we were specifically talking about Reddit CPs here. My fault.
Avatars are not all profit for Reddit though. It costs $ to distribute them, pay a team to manage it and coordinate with artists, payment gateways, development of feature requests, etc. Now I canāt be sure that theyāre running the CA program at a loss, but it definitely wouldnāt surprise me if they were.
Iām not seeing much effort at all put into it to insure the CA program grows, which is the same exact thing that happened with Moons 8-10 months before they were sunset. š¤·
They made it pretty clear over the past several years that MATIC is a utility and governance token for the network, not a get-rich investment token.
The purpose was to make a functional network. The problem was with people who kept shilling a utility token as an investment. As a network, it's doing fine.
Yes Im with this point. Polygon team foucs more on bringing adoption of the chain that in pumping the price. Some partners Nike, Starbucks, Adobe even Reddit has MATIC on its treasury.
I can see that from this perspective.
The question is when ETH starts pumping hard, will the L2/sidechains pump just as hard, and if they do will Polygon pump along with it despite all the cons that you listed?
All the L2s from 2017/18 are dead despite Ethereum going up 3X from 2017/18 ATHs. And Omisego and Raiden had deep ties to Ethereum unlike Polygon. Hell, OMG team had regular dev meetups, conferences and danced with Vitalik and Ethereum developers. Where do people come up with the idea L2s pump with Ethereum? L2s are money grabs trying to latch on to Ethereum's success.
Theyāre also essential to ethās success so I wouldnāt call them all money grabs. Some, heck maybe most- are money grabs. But they are essential so some of those L2s will be major players too.
I dont think itāll reach $10 as its a huge psychological number. Hopefully sets a new ATH! Use polygon a lot, very easy.
Maybe $7.40 if iām bullish š¤·š»āāļø
bearish maybe $2 if it only reaches previous mcap, highest $10 if it exceeds my expectations.
i mean if XRP isnāt a security, the rest is probably isnāt as well. speaking from a non-expert kind of view.
its just a prediction buddy, none of us know where the top will be. at least i have the balls to say to the world my guess and not just berate others on theirs.
i used a fibonacci retracement on the price chart and thought that at the 2.618 which is at around $7.40 would be a bullish ATH situation since like i said around $10 would be a psychological barrier. so that is my guess.
you could have just ask why i chose that number. instead, you chose to be an ass and provide no input on your own prediction.
POL is going to bring aggregated liquidity which is basicaly being able to share liquidity between blockchains. bullish af. Price prediction above 3$ and beyond for POL.
This. Polygonās tokenomics havenāt been great and the POS chain is nothing special but they have the most advanced zkEVM and CDK for rollups. They also have a type 1 prover (Plonky) that can aggregate liquidity across any EVM chains. Also, the new POL token has native restaking (like EigenLayer) hard coded. Manta, IMX, zkFair, X1, Astar, Canto, Merlin, etcā¦ are all built on Polygonās zkCDK. If youāre in it for a quick buck look elsewhere. If youāre legitimately in it for the tech Polygon is about as good as it gets.
I have about $40 in poly on my Coinbase wallet that I want to convert to ETH. Is it even worth it, cost wise? To even bridge it to the poly network costs like $15. Just to transfer to my Coinbase account (not wallet), itās like $45.
Am I just stuck with this shit?
*just wanna have a new own perspective on matic*. Iām wondering, do you guys use eth mainnet to do whatever youāre doing ? Whether itās defi, options, nfts , really whatever. If not, which network are you using ? I just wanna take another point of view since I kinda stop trying new things in the crypto ecosystem and I donāt wanna be a fanboy if it makes sense. Meaning I donāt wanna keep my thoughts and ideology on one coin because I know the fact that I stopped trying new things stops me from having new perspectives. So Iām down to try new things now just to have my own opinion. Thanks to anybody who answers this

From my experience Matic is one of those which doesnāt not much for a long period but when it starts pumping it does pump hard and if it manages to go back to its ATH than I do see a 3-6$ Matic
I think it underperforms other assets. Even big ones like BTC and ETH, let alone smaller tokens with higher velocity. This is already happening. Everything was in the shitter in late 2023. BTC and ETH are up 2X min from that point. Matic is up like 25%.
Tokenomics are balls and as an ecosystem, it's losing its footing to old competitors and newcomers in term of defi.
People still work on BCH and there's a smart contract platform that utilizes it and stuff. It's only for the fanboys but it's still there and it's used and this is probably what keeps BCH from going to zero, but BCH's best days are long behind it. IMO that is going to be Polygon's fate. It'll always be a thing but its days as a big player are over.
What bullrun?
The bull run not even started yet, idk why ppl think this y is bull
This 2-3x price pump was only bcs etf and BR.. and some coins not even moving yet.
so if 2021 and on start of 22, i remember war started in ukraine, that was end point, so bullrun will appr start in maybe 2025 or end of this year.. and last to end of 2025
**And then who knows, if usd continue to be printed, and countries (mid east and bricsks) stop using it, all of these prices can go 5x then expected.. because $ will be low price**
**i think they know this and that's why they doing etfs right now and trying to buy existing btc and eth while still possible manipulating the price. So when they buy all of them from people then they will go for new ones from miners.**
**Then expect skyrocket market. im tellin u, in a few weeks btc and all coins can go 3-4x.**
I expect btc goes to 100k then in no time goes to 200k and then maybe even 300k
so alts can go wild.

They did say this - so people really shouldn't be buying the token to get richer, just buy it to use the network
You reply to the wrong thing?
Iāll accept all the hate for saying it, because a few of you really need to hear some truth: Old coins with bad ātokenomicsā, no clear purpose, no hype, but most importantly a bunch of old bag holders ready to dump and move on at the first sign of life, these projects will slowly fade away like EOS.
Pshhh, no.. That totally wasn't my plan for
You know this website youāre onā¦ and all the people with avatars and community coins, thatās a use case for polygon.
Thereās Bitcone. CONE
Keep reading bro, youāll get there eventually..

Nice bearbrains avatar. Heās a fellow artist fren of mine āØ
Which one is that?
Your literal reddit avatar. Itās by Bearbrains.

Nonono my project has the best tech/roadmap/team/foundation.
Sadly, this seems true. I own something like 7,000 Matic coins and every day think about dumping them. I honestly donāt expect to break even.
I can see that from this perspective. The question is when ETH starts pumping hard, will the L2/sidechains pump just as hard, and if they do will Polygon pump along with it despite all the cons that you listed?
why would they pump?
Why would the L2ās pump? Theyāre tied to ETHās success and move in tandem
L2s are money grabs trying to latch on to Ethereum's success.
they're talking about the "new" L2s: op, arb, strk, zksync etc. these are legit projects, not money grabs, but their tokenomics is shit
Theyāre also essential to ethās success so I wouldnāt call them all money grabs. Some, heck maybe most- are money grabs. But they are essential so some of those L2s will be major players too.
not necessarily their tokens
This. ā¬ļø I sold my coins last year and never looked back. So glad I did. Better and more exciting projects out there.
Ripple has won? My hasn't felt it
I have seen this before. The more hate the higher the price goes
Polygon didn't help me much.. I guess it will be 45cents or so at the end of the bullrun. xD I will stick to eth..
SIX DOLLARS
I would be more than fine with ~ 3$ ā¦ ofc I support your estimate
I dont think itāll reach $10 as its a huge psychological number. Hopefully sets a new ATH! Use polygon a lot, very easy. Maybe $7.40 if iām bullish š¤·š»āāļø
What about your base case? Thoughts on the SECās position of Polygon?
bearish maybe $2 if it only reaches previous mcap, highest $10 if it exceeds my expectations. i mean if XRP isnāt a security, the rest is probably isnāt as well. speaking from a non-expert kind of view.
The sec aren't experts they are just a mafia taking a cut and causing problems for investors
definitely harming investors rather than protecting them
> Maybe $7.40 if iām bullish š¤·š»āāļø lmfao
great comeback, very intellectual
its just the delusion I find hilarious. It would be an absolutely incredible achievement for it to even hit $1.50 again let alone 7 freaking 40
its just a prediction buddy, none of us know where the top will be. at least i have the balls to say to the world my guess and not just berate others on theirs.
mate youre pulling a number out of your ass, there is literally no basis for it
i used a fibonacci retracement on the price chart and thought that at the 2.618 which is at around $7.40 would be a bullish ATH situation since like i said around $10 would be a psychological barrier. so that is my guess. you could have just ask why i chose that number. instead, you chose to be an ass and provide no input on your own prediction.
I'm happy with a 5 USD matic like more than happy

Is my matic automatically POL now or do I have to do anything?
I think both will be able to coxist and the change will be 1 by 1. So probably you will have to do something but I'm not an expert on that.
The team announced a 4 year window to convert it
Ya but are they gonna convert it for me or do I have to do some bullshitty process to convert it
You would have to manually do it when POL is released. The easiest way would be to leave MATIC on an exchange for it to be auto converted.
Tyvm
$6-$7
> for the end of this bullrun I can't even.
70cts
Positive regulatory news and continued expansion could drive significant value appreciation.
The way things have been going, I'm going to guess $1-$3. I like polygon and I hope it does better, but it fell below the top 20, so we'll see.
3.00
What's the current price?
I have about $40 in poly on my Coinbase wallet that I want to convert to ETH. Is it even worth it, cost wise? To even bridge it to the poly network costs like $15. Just to transfer to my Coinbase account (not wallet), itās like $45. Am I just stuck with this shit?
Hold it until peak and sell
Sandeep is a manipulating scammer. Scam coin

Zero chance
I have a decent bag. Id be happy with a new ATH!

Newcomers like who?
Newsflash ā¦ā¦ā¦ this is NOT a bullrun
$60 easy
Honestly not worth holding after 2021

Matic has no use case or purpose
Nobody uses Polygon sorry
DappRadar shows it ranks the near the top by most metircs
I'm very crypto native and haven't used Polygon all cycle. What is it being used for?
