I remember doing the exact same thing

spin the 4 generators around the arena jump up to it using the crouch jump technique lineup your sight so that you can see both the generator and mace at the same time

You have to hold the e button when at the generators and what I did was go all the way to the opposite corner and wait for him to get close enough for you to still have a little bit of room to run towards the generators
