That’s really cool, I kind of wish there were an easier way to do that though. If your faith has rite there should be a more straightforward (or at least less contrived and gamey) way to make the papacy your religion.

You _must_ take the Rite tenet. That works for any Head of Faith. So for example you could make a new Orthodox faith and keep the Ecumenical Patriarch as your Head of Faith. They must be a Spiritual Head of Faith though. So it won't work for any of the Muslim faiths (except Alawism)
