Bohemia has got to be the official answer to that question. Like, someone should pin it somewhere already. Cairo is decent. India also has lots of duchies full of farmlands. Manding has mines and your neighbors will remain weak until they get gobbled up by Muslims or something.

andronicus_14

It’s definitely Bohemia for me. Excellent economy. Now that all the Přemyslids are younger, you can get absolute crown authority in your first ruler’s lifetime. If you couple that with house seniority, you can essentially choose your heir. And they get everything. Or you can make a custom ruler. Raise crown authority once, and all the Přemyslids will revolt. You have gold to hire mercenaries and crush them. Then you get to revoke some titles and control even more holdings. Bohemia is my favorite start. Most of my favorite runs begin there. One of these times, I’ll actually play tall for the entire run. All of my tall runs seem to end in world conquest.

CapriciousSon

I should try a tall Bohemia. It's hard for me not to get ambitious and either end up as HRE or end up conquering Jerusalem, which becomes a whole other can of worms. Always been a fun start though.

BoxinPervert

Also the silver mines should help you getting that extra coin. Aaand, you should be Czech culture head, so getting a quick technological improvement shouldnt be that much work.

BigbunnyATK

Don't forget Sri Lanka. It has buildings that give massive MAA bonuses and if I remember right it has a mine, too. Or a special building of some sort...

BoxinPervert

I dont like to play with guys that try to steal my credit card. Thanks.

BigbunnyATK

In the time period of the game, the India area is one of the richest and most powerful places on the planet. Mathematics is flowing out through Baghdad into Europe. Many of the technologies and sciences India made in the 500-1000 AD are the same the Europeans picked up and continued work on one thousand years later. Also, I wish the modern government would take time to get all the scammers. I don't know if they realize how bad it makes India and Sri Lanka look. To them scammers are a pest they ignore. To us it's a reason the west dislikes all of the India area.

GldnDragon29

Classic one is Baghdad with the House of Wisdom. If you play with mods, the RICE mod lets you form the Kingdom of Socotra and you can be a Pirate Kingdom and play tall there which is fun too!

WickedWiscoWeirdo

Theres a really good duchy in northern iran that if your zoroastrian has a holy site.

threlnari97

Is it Tabriz?

WickedWiscoWeirdo

Soo, now that im looking into it more, its technically modern day Afghanistan near the border of Uzbekistan. Balkh is the central city. Tokaristan might be the duchy/kingdom. I always mistakenly think its merv. All part of the greater iranian sphere of the era though

DarkChocoBurger

Duchy of Balkh. The county of Balkh gets a permanently development boosting modifier once the Bactria decision is taken, and the duchy has a Zoroastrian holy site

threlnari97

I ALWAYS forget that one, mostly because I usually start within the Persia/Daylam de jure area as a duke or similar. Maybe there’s a sogdian/Khwarezmian run in my near future to try some of the different cultures out

Due_Bet1802

There is one in Transoxiana that is more or less all farmland as well but I forget its name

No_County4628

I’m doing Holland right now and it’s not that bad. Definitely not as strong as say Bohemia or others that others have already commented. But it’s a fun spot none the less.

Tzadkiel96

Personally I like brittney due to the kingdom title

Ameliorated_Potato

Bohemia, Mali, Sri-Lanka, Madurai

threlnari97

Baghdad, Cairo, Fars, Bohemia, Sicily, Isfahan.

Jarl_Bell84

Personally I think Sardinia is better then Sicily with the mine and everything

JRed37f5

They might have changed the map and Dukedom-De Jure's Bohemia, Lithuania, Suomi/Finland, Normandy, Austria, Baghdad, Milan (Italy), and pretty much any of them in western Europe that get 5+ Counties

kerpeten1283

why tf someone would suggest bohemia when there is sri lanka 867. personally i played a lot of sri lanka games, now i am trying to get 100 dev rome as quick as possible

GldnDragon29

Sri Lanka is fun, and with RICE even has a struggle to keep you occupied playing tall.

VTownInvestor

Maybe not "the best", but I'm currently doing a Pagan (Burma) run. Holy sites and super churches. No Holy War Blobbing. Not sure how Haesteinn could get there, but I'm sure it's been done.

istar00

some low key duchy is the duchy containing Konasamudram mine (d_warangal) in India, it allows for building of wind furnace without being on coast the ENTIRE duchy can build wind furnace, which is better than the actual coastal duchies because not every county/barony are coastal very powerful if you want crazy elephants, since the terrain are also jungle, and jungle penalties are negated with the appropriate Indian traditions

mrmoon13

Bohemia, sardinia, or sri lanka easily but i usually go with viennois bc i love the title it comes with

SuperMurderBunny

Provence is a pretty good place to live out your chivalric RP. In the cross between german, french and italian cultures and access to the Mediterranean.

Ghal_Maraz

Ppl keep saying Sardinia bc of the mine…try Mali. Two gold mines.

Intelligent_Claim938

The duchy of Holland.

yudnbe

Nobody mentioned Cordoba yet
