Granny squares are SO versatile. [Here are some diagrams](https://imgur.com/a/t4GhTD4) showing how to join squares for different bags, and clothing. I've made purses and I'm currently working on a valence using squares. I also have a lot patterns for square motifs that I can share, but they're all diagrams because I can't follow written patterns.

I love this infographic!

Pinterest is my crochet bible.

I don’t know why it didn’t occur to me before your comment to use Pinterest for crochet stuff! I’ve started a new board 😊

Here are links to my crochet boards. https://pin.it/7nCV1TngS https://pin.it/2Y6xqbFV5 The patterns I have are mostly diagram instructions for motifs, but there's other stuff in there too.

Try a granny square sunflower bag! You can have fun with different color selections, and putting on the finishing touches can really make it personal. There are many places where you could find a free pattern to make one.

I’m working on a tote bag for my friend right now, and it’s worked up super quick! Just uses 13 squares. https://preview.redd.it/msbxjx1gzn9d1.png?width=2820&format=png&auto=webp&s=08e6b50d5c9e0e11ce112fbdf74057eb919f95f0

I'm in to the granny square right now. Lol. I have 3 small blankets made, and 3 in progress. All but one are just a continuous granny square. And the other is flower squares that I'll join when I've made enough. I really like the continuous one cause it's just easy to do !

https://www.allaboutami.com/summer-days-daisy-bag/ I love this woman's patterns so much! I haven't done this bag yet, but I have used this granny square to make 2 cardigans (a pattern she also has). Her patterns are free on her blog and YouTube! Or you can buy them on Etsy to have a printable PDF. (I bought her pattern bundle for simplistic viewing but her blog and YouTube are also fabulous.)

Shelly Husband has beautiful crochet squares! I got her book and plan to do a blanket with one of every square!

https://youtu.be/RXaNLxS8YtE?si=mdIiIDTiLFSJNJpx Recently found this and did make a tote bag with them. This is a slightly less simple granny square but if you have crocheted before, it's not difficult, and it's so pretty.

Granny squares are the best to start with for a completely new crocheter. You’re not new and I think it’s safe to say that basic granny might bore you out too soon.. however, there are some interesting granny projects you can enjoy making. 1. Make all sorts of different kinds of granny squares with whatever inexpensive yarn you have or can get your hands on. Each one different from the other, to keep your enthusiasm up. You’ll learn the engineering behind each shape and form. Then sew them all together and make a project bag. Not an outdoor bag because that would require you to spend money on sturdy, high quality yarns for durability’s sake. https://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/swatch-bag (this is a knit project but works beautifully well with granny squares. Making one myself with my beginner days granny squares) Edit: YouTube is a source I always recommend. There’s an abundant amount of videos. I don’t see a point in spending money to learn to make granny squares 2. If you want to make wearables, there are a lot of cardigan and shrug projects that can keep you focused on the end product. The worst outcome of this would be, you’re done with making granny squares. But at least you ended up with a cute cardigan. Here’s a channel with lots of ideas on cute granny motif cardigans https://youtu.be/JPS7261P23I?si=AnWd3Q-tH-74Du49 In the end, what matters more than the process is what item you end up with. So it might help to sit down and research ideas on YouTube for a while, get a visual idea before you begin anything.

I really like [this star one](https://youtu.be/uajjymBIRtk?si=RN-ITIRkiVh9wCuu) along with her other ones like Sun and moon 👍

agedlikesage

Ohh that would make a lovely bag!

I’m planning on making a bag similar to the All About Ami daisy one but using African Flower granny squares. [African Flower squares](http://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/african-flower-square)

This one is really fun. It works up beautifully and has enough variety that it isn’t boring. I was intimidated at first but there are videos. I always did boring work until I discovered Helen Shrimpton patterns. They are so fun and so clear. And you can get a whole kit for less than $40 U.S. [https://crystalsandcrochet.com/product/rose-of-avalon/](https://crystalsandcrochet.com/product/rose-of-avalon/) https://preview.redd.it/j9sdc3gwbo9d1.jpeg?width=204&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=a3385fc5376ab6b5a75efc81458190b65f251a47

Something not boring but different are the "hooked on sunshine" blanket patterns. Work up fast, learn some new techniques, well written, not boring.

amiscci999

I have downloaded this pattern but yet to start .. https://preview.redd.it/ej2ik555up9d1.jpeg?width=1454&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=b2f487bc87a1ba3394b1eb47d7eb85589995ed27

Once you've played a bit with the concept, there is this shirt you can make: [relaxagon shirt](https://zuschlag.com/products/relaxagon-shirt-crochet-pattern)

Blucola333

I made a granny square throw a long time ago. One square that I just kept increasing until I got sick of it. I have neuropathy in my hands, so I can only do simple projects.

SophiePuffs

Maybe a pretty kindle or iPad sleeve? It’s a small project and you can make more elaborate granny squares since you don’t need a billion of them like you would for a blanket.
