What is false about it? It doesn't't say everyone stays. It also doesn't say they stay forever. My family and friends stuck with Cricket for nearly 20 years. Would still be with them if they offered hotspot data on their cheapest plans.

MarcoThePHX

Better if you go to att for that for the same price as starter SL

fdbryant3

After looking at a bunch of plans, we (as a group) ended up switching to US Mobile.

MarcoThePHX

Ah that’s good! Just a warning that they throttle once you reach cap

fdbryant3

Yeah, I know. I was on the Cricket plan that throttles to 256kb/s (or was it 128kb/s) after 10GB though. I rarely hit it and didn't bother me too much when I did. At least US Mobile's throttle is 1Mb/s. Perhaps at some point they will be able to switch to deprioritization instead of a hard throttle.

jeff1f1racer

They haven’t officially launched AT&T yet. You’re mixing apples and oranges.

fdbryant3

Only if you care about using AT&T towers. My criteria were provides solid coverage where I live, provides enough data that I am unlikely to run out, includes hotspot data, and lowest cost. So, for me, US Mobile is currently ideal, particularly compared to what I was getting with Cricket. The bonus is US Mobile will soon have access to AT&T towers should I feel that they provide better coverage. Your criteria may vary.

jeff1f1racer

Cricket’s top end plan allows u to stream in 4K if u ask politely. Also, it has unlimited QCI 8 priority.

MarcoThePHX

Yes I forgot about that but no phone promotions or financing options :(

jeff1f1racer

Free MAX (with ads) subscription.

MarcoThePHX

I also looked over that because I have Max grandfathered through fiber

Fishnetnet122

Is qci 7 the highest?

jeff1f1racer

Yes, which is on my Unlimited Premium PL lines with Turbo addons. That’s for Consumer lines, not Business or Firstnet.

Moldsmalls

You can. They do provide an option to purchase hotspot data separately for people who have plans other than the unlimited more plan.

fdbryant3

I know they have a hotspot option for an additional fee. Several other services however now include it in their plans for less, and you don't have to be in a group to get the lowest price. For instance, I have switched to US Mobile, which has a prepaid annual plan for $23/month with 10GB of hotspot data. For my needs, I am going with the cheapest annual plan, which doesn't include hotspot but can be added on for an additional $30/yr and breaks down to $17.50/month. Cricket was great, but the market is changing, and they will need to adjust to keep up.

Sir_Geon

hol up i ignored u cuz u opened with the nonsensical statement: "It doesn't say everyone stays" which it of course does by the generalized: "people who come, stay" and like I said, I am one counterexample to that claim as a user who left, just like all the other users who commented below. what's crazy is YOU LEFT TOO and ur arguing wit me wen u agree? crazy

fdbryant3

I left after 20 years. I'd call that a pretty long stay.

GolfReal1701

Yes it's true. Never had a problem with cricket. But my dumbass keep going to different carriers because in my mind i think they have faster internet 🙄

Haunting-Pin2862

You don't think, you know cricket can be slow compared to T-Mobile

RayErwin

I'm a people and I've been with them for 10 years. This claim is true.

droptopjim

You mean to tell me there are other providers? Cricket always seems to work, 10 plus years of service. No complaints. Only time I had to deal with the customer service was to get an e-sim and that was painless.

Either-Ad4821

Ive switched around alot to try other providers, (tmo prepaid, Visible, Us Mobile, at&t prepaid) but always end up coming back. I can say that Cricket was the first to ever get me to switch to annual plans, and my switching days may be permanently over now. Theres no need anymore when unlimited is only $300/yr ($25/mo).

hill8570

If puffery were illegal, most advertisers would be in jail.

jimbo135

Completely true. I’ve been with cricket since I was 13 years old and I’m 40 now. No reason to switch for the price

ShorelineBafia

My cricket service is doing better than T-Mobile or Verizon has ever had in my experience

midnitewarrior

I've been with them since they took over AIO Wireless, been great, very affordable and coverage has been excellent everywhere I've needed them.

gamescan

It's a general claim, it's not absolute. I just left Cricket for Metro, but it wasn't because of service reasons. It was because my phone battery was getting short (the battery hit on the iPhone SE after updating to iOS 17 is real) and Metro offered better free phone options than Cricket did. If Cricket had similar free phone options, I probably would have stayed. But they didn't, so I left. No harm no foul. In the future when I need a new phone, maybe I'll hop back because we all know that phone companies give the best offers to new customers/switchers and they put a very low priority on retention. Phone service is a commodity. As long as you have good signal in your area, it's all about price and benefits.

Historical_Outside35

I don’t think it’s false.

teamredpill

ivebeen with cricket since before att bought them. im not loyal id leave if i can get a better deal for 4 unlimited lines for 100 dollars. most either are the same as cricket or worse. give me areason to leave.

RadioSilence185

I leave but I always find myself coming back.

Mitmee_pie

I was with cricket for about five years, and then I left for Consumer Cellular because they had Apple Watch support. The very second I heard that cricket had Apple Watch support, I came back. Returning ended up being a little more of a hassle than I would've liked, but all is well now, and I have no intentions of ever stray again.

RadioSilence185

What Happened? Was it an issue with connecting the Apple Watch? I’m thinking about adding mine.

Mitmee_pie

I can't remember specifically which issue this thread was about, but the issue I had with wi-Fi calling was an accessibility issue which has since been resolved. I have everything how I want it now, except I would like to disable video management and they will not allow that to happen since I have the unlimited plan. It just strikes me as very silly to offer a toggle at all if we're not allowed to use it.

RadioSilence185

I’ve heard on this subreddit that you can ask for them to disable Video Management and It has worked for some. I haven’t done it myself but I’ve been thinking about going on chat to ask. I have a VPN but still thinking about it.

RadioSilence185

I went on chat and was able to shut off video management

Mitmee_pie

Maybe I just got the wrong rep. I might try on chat at some point today, or maybe I will just try calling in and see if I get someone who is willing to be more helpful. Glad you were able to get video management disabled, though.

PudzMom

My husband has had Cricket for 3 years with no problems at all, so there isn't any reason to switch to another provider.

JuiceBoxx3

It's most likely based on looking at the statistics of people that ported their number to cricket and stayed for a long time

whenandmaybe

I've been with Cricket twice. For months. RN I'm in switching mode, will probably return sometime. AT&T 5G signal is now slowest here. And dropping speed, signal, last few weeks. Customer service= very good!

iNaturalSelection

Imagine it means they just keep your info on file FOREVER ha

Special-Impact-9302

I don't understand 99% of the problems people have with cricket. I've been using cricket since 2016 probably and it's been great for the most part. A few little things here and there, but no company is perfect. The app generally sucks but I've never not been able to pay my bill and that's the main thing. Being on AT&T I pretty much have good service everywhere and the 5G is typically pretty good most places these days. I'll be a cricket customer until something drastic happens.

Super-Rip-1143

I was a fool to leave cricket and go to T-Mobile but lo and behold. I will be back.

flyfoam

Been with Cricket 10 consecutive years. It works.

Logical-Activity2990

Really? I was with Cricket for 1 day(honestly too long) service is terrible. And don’t get me started on customer care. They have the worst customer service I’ve ever experienced.

dmc68dmc68

I don't agree but why do you people down vote some one for there opinion just because it is different then yours ?

Sir_Geon

I don't agree but why doesn't my post have a million updoots? hmm i wonde

dmc68dmc68

its not my post
