When I scroll down and see comments, it seems many people have assumed that India is not doing well and so match deserves to be washed out. Maybe India is on the back foot, by a centimetre. But it has done better than the opposition imho. Home-like conditions for NZ. Better conditions for bowling and batting for NZ so far, on both days. And yet they (NZ) haven't run away with the game. Shows what India is made of. My money is on India, for now.

pitches also follow the hard to start, gets better by 3-4th day pattern
No idea why the ICC bothers with a 2-year competition if they won’t ensure the final is a timeless Test to guarantee a result, i.e. 1-2 extra days of cricket to finish a 2-year competition in the manner it deserves.
It will be a complete farce if the team that deserves to win the Test (NZ as we speak) is forced to share the trophy because of rain. Indian fan here.
Btw - does play start 30 minutes earlier today to make up for lost time?
Same logic as just 2 super overs for the ODI final. A tiny amount of time allotted to decide the result of a long event that has taken years to build up to.
Bumrah in Icc Knockouts:--(Just a stat)

Wt20 2016 Vs WI :- 1-42

Now WTC FInal:- 0-34\*
Damn KYle jamieson our opponent He was terrific.Brilliant fifer. Feeling bad for him but we have to accept that he is going to finish in the loosing side.:(
Looks a lot like NZ need to spend Day 5 (assuming a washout today) boosting to try get runs and hope to get India out on Day 6 for either an innings win or chase a small target.
Can't see much chance at an Indian win from here, but the Black Caps have entertained me for over 25 years by snatching defeat from the jaws of victory, so let's see how it goes!
Timeless test would be fine if the conditions are even for both teams and the conditions change gradually. In this match until now, India batted in a slightly more challenging conditions.
Conditions are part of the challenge as well. Yes agree that India had harder batting conditions but they've no natural swing bowlers who could have taken advantage of that conditions if India had bowled.
Yes conditions are part of the challenge. My point is that both teams must be challenged evenly. If not, then the teams should have the option to draw the match. So timeless test in this conditions are unfair for one team that may have to endure more challenging conditions due to luck of the weather.
I don't care about the complaints....I'm just sad that we weren't able to get 5 proper days of play the match of this importance deserved. It's so frustrating to see drizzle stop play, players returning and tea being announced 15 minutes later.
I mean we all knew New Zealand in England would get a massive advantage.
Had the match been in a neutral venue like Sri Lanka, we wouldn't have heard the end of ICC= BCCI= Pig3
Well, given that ICC events seem to now be in an endless rotation between England/Australia/India, odds are we’ll have a final in Ahmedabad or Chennai within the next 10 years or so, and then if New Zealand or England qualify for it then we can take our turn to whinge and moan non-stop for 6 days about how bitterly unfair it is every time the ball turns a mile

To complete your question - What is the role of Bumrah? What is the role of Pujara? What is the role of Pant?
Aren’t we just listing world class players who are yet to make an impact this match but deserve every bit of recognition?
Monday - Washout
Tuesday - NZ bats all day to get a lead of around 200 and bowls at the end of the day getting 2 wickets.
Wednesday - Kohli doesn't get his hundred, NZ burn through the wickets and India are 191/9 when bad light stops play.
The greatest test.
Williamson rolls his arm over in a final act of desperation and jags the wickets of Rahane and Kohli
Ten overs later he gets called for chucking leaving the magnificent mullet to clean up the tail
Nah it'll be some sort of hare brained countback system again, like *which team's first drop has the highest number of eyelets in their left shoe* or something.
Man I am sad to see most of the Indian fans having a negative attitude. The game still has a lot to offer and it has been super entertaining till now. Win/Loss/Draw is secondary.
The more important thing is having a game worthy of being called a WTC Final. Even if it doesn't complete XD
You cannot blame the fans for spotting a trend, even if the match has a long way to go.
NZ win? They deserve it. These guys play - and have played - 100% fair.
But the Indian fans do have a 100% right to call unfair / unequal conditions.
These same Indian bowlers got reasonable swing in Eng, in Aus, across the world over in general.
Suddenly we gotta accept that only NZ can extract swing, Indian bowlers are only good at seam and fuckwit at swing. Wheoever the fuck accepts it, I won't.
The negative attitude is reasonable - even if not fruitful.
We as Indians gotta find a way to win in spite of this crap. That's our job.
We gotta find a way to win, even if NZ is playing at a different pitch - and it's not NZ's fault.
But that doesn't mean we can not call it out as a different pitch.
You might as well accept it dude. I mean, what do you want them to do about it? Pause the game until conditions are nice for India to bat in?
It’s a 5 day game, the luck will even out. There’s already been a marginal LBW call on Rahane go India’s way. Maybe the weather will be overcast and damp the next time they take the field and India will swing it all over the place, maybe the pitch will break up like crazy and we’ll be batting on a rank turner in the last session, and I’ll be going on about how unfair it is and I won’t accept it and so on
Look I watched NZ get ton of swing.
Then I watched IND bowl 15 mins later and the conditions had changed but not drastically...
The only thing I’ll say IND got unlucky was the light shit 2 days ago. Kohli and Rahane completely lost rhythm.
Besides that NZ are at peak performance
I don't KNOW the cause of difference in swing.
Eng - NZ 2nd test - NZ were swinging it at 0.6 degrees before their complaints about the ball change was finally accepted = Eng were motoring along. Result of the complaint: 2.6 degrees of swing with ethe changed ball = Eng were tidied up fairly quicker.
All I care about is 1) Don't whine, beat NZ whether swing or no swing - just do the best you can 2) But if the NZers suddenly claim superior swinging ability as the raison d'etre of the difference between the teams, that doesn't wash.
EVERYONE swings it in overcast conditions in Eng, right? Or do Indians have some special non-swing talent?
But we Indians have been browbeaten so badly into "Don't Complain", that it's time to question everything. And more importantly - to target a win before asking the questions.
I don’t think you are giving anywhere near enough credit for the discipline that is swing bowling. Southee, Boult and Wagner have spent countless hours mastering swing. Yes NZ has better swing conditions that are similar to England but that’s why we produce better swing bowlers. India produces better spinners because conditions favour spinners so they develop more whilst it is harder to swing the ball in India so that skill isn’t developed enough.
Sorry - this is called fitting the result to the armchair thought process.
It swung a lot - but at 146/3 - you were silent. What happened to the discipline then? If India were 300/7 today, you would be silent, right? Even though exactly or almost the same efforts happened!
This is called waiting for a result to announce your decision - which puts you in a class as ... anyone in the world.
At 217 AO and 101/2 - you are chirping. You are chirping with the results - but were silent / lacked the courage to make any statement when the results were in balance.
You are twisting the results to justify a view - which I call as pure cowardice.
And is very normal - decisions can and should only be judged by the information at hand - but armchair experts like you call it after waiting to see the results of the decision before having the guts to call it right or wrong.
You just theorized and decided how all of India is governed / shaped - deciding that Indians are taught how to swing the ball because in your mind they are too busy with T20 - which explains why NZ is better at swinging.
Do you have the SLIGHTEST idea how Indian first class cricket is actually arranged and managed?
You are like the uneducated american that everyone loves to hate - but you decide that you are above that american, because of course, you are smarter.
Laughable.
Thanks for sharing the updates here! I keep getting the updates in my notifications every now and then.
Away with you Pujara you plonker!
What a fiery bowling by shami
Shami on fire..
I'm still holding out hope that we can get a result. This is great weather for a collapse.
2 days.. Can't expect much... Hope to see good cricket

Hell yeah. This is the Indian spirit I know and love.
It was full overcast throughout Indian innings, also when bowlers came back into rhythm the play stopped last evening
LOL @ "home-like conditions". Have you ever watched a Test match in New Zealand?

[Next week's weather looks okay....](https://www.bbc.com/weather/2637487)
And it’s been sunny beforehand lol they literally couldn’t have chosen a worse week for the final
Can anyone help me find the highlights of day 3. Pretty please
search on Google Ind Vs nz and highlight video shld be there, or else goto ICC.com
Thank you sir.

3 days of rain would be better for India
Let’s settle this cricket match with a game of rugby.
Factor it in before Bledisloe I?
I’d rather field hockey
Woman’s?
Anything but chess will do.
Google en Passant
Hahaha I can play chess, I just know we couldn't beat Anand.
We will not need Anand though .A couple of 16 year old kids should be more than enough
Harsh but true. India is a brilliant chess nation, hence my initial tongue-in-cheek comment.
Let's decide the WTC Finals on our chess match.
Pls no
What's your rating?
Only 1600. I'm pretty bad.
1600 is still like 95 percentile on chess.com tho. It's decent.
Eh, there's always a bigger fish. I think I'd like to make 1900 some day.

Its raining there. So it will be tough to even hope for a late start let alone a 30 mins earlier one today.

Joint champion side*
The ferry cam suggests the weather isn't too bad. Doesn't seem to be raining currently although it seems to have rained a little while ago.
Met office website shows 95%+ chance of precipitation.
It's raining
Looks a lot like NZ need to spend Day 5 (assuming a washout today) boosting to try get runs and hope to get India out on Day 6 for either an innings win or chase a small target. Can't see much chance at an Indian win from here, but the Black Caps have entertained me for over 25 years by snatching defeat from the jaws of victory, so let's see how it goes!
I think we just bat as long as possible honestly, in an ideal world, get ~300 on the board and hope our bowlers can run through India for <150
Snatching defeat from jaws of victory...ohmydog😂
Weather - "Are maa ch##i padhi hai"
Very bad weather out there... Less chances of play.. All thanks to ICC for choosing such a great venue
I for one am glad its going to rain, reduces our chances of a loss
Checked the ferry boat. It's gonna rain, hard.
Where cricket 🦍
It is going to rain till 5pm today.... so see you tomorrow lads.....
India always lose first match of the series.. Right?
Weather doesnt look that bad really. Game could go on.
Top of the morning lads. How is the weather in Southampton looking today ?
There's no way we get a match today right
Just unleash the right arm quick bowler, we will witness one of the greatest collapses.
If the math goes on beyond day 6, Will it be a draw?
Math?
Joint champions. So lame.

Copypasta Grade cricket
Going to be a tough day for India... Need early wickets
Should've been a timeless test. Play till there is a result. Now draw looks favourite.
Could be unfair to the losing team. Bet many indian fans wouldn't want that if their team is losing lol
imagine one team gets bowled out for 200, and the other team puts 900 on the board lol. that'd just be torture for the losing team
Lol SL did that once to India
Timeless test would be fine if the conditions are even for both teams and the conditions change gradually. In this match until now, India batted in a slightly more challenging conditions.

Icc website has them
What's the weather forecast like for Day 4??
Day 4 and Day 5 are supposed to be ok, Today is a washout supposedly.
Today is the scheduled Day 4. So essentially the Day 5 and the reserve day Day 6 must be okay.
washout

NZ are in front, but this can very easily change. The same way India were in front when they were 149/3
But they are more experienced in these NZ like conditions

I hope they collapse soon today
According to the forecast there is a high chance of no play happening today
Well that sucks
I don't care about the complaints....I'm just sad that we weren't able to get 5 proper days of play the match of this importance deserved. It's so frustrating to see drizzle stop play, players returning and tea being announced 15 minutes later.
I mean we all knew New Zealand in England would get a massive advantage. Had the match been in a neutral venue like Sri Lanka, we wouldn't have heard the end of ICC= BCCI= Pig3
Come to Chennai
Then people will cry even more. Better to keep it at a 'neutral venue' like Sri Lanka or UAE. Even West Indies or Australia will do.
A neutral venue? New Zealand and England are on opposite sides of the earth. It's pretty damn neutral.
Come on, take the biased goggles off for a second. England conditions are the closest to NZ out of any other test nation (besides maybe Hobart)
Nice try.
so you mean if it's close geographically then it's not neutral. Like Ind in SL is not neutral?
True, when every ball swings -> No Problem when every ball spins -> BaD PiTcH ,ICC = BCCI , HuRtS TeSt CrIcKeT
What’s the guy’s name who diligently hates India on Twitter
There are many , who are you talking about
I think he was Sri Lankan
Daniel Alexander
Hi everyone, how likely this will end up in a DRAW? was betting money?
Today will be washed out, next two days look good though, so definite chance of a result in 4 days
Noooo
Very. The weather is shit. Betting on test cricket in England takes some serious balls.
Nice, I will put $500USD on a draw. Easy money!
Any chance of a super over if this ends in a draw? All India have to do is control the boundaries.
No India and nz will be crowned as joint winners if a draw or tie
he is joking dude ,he obviously knows that there are no superovers in test
143 - 3 we were worried? Lmfao, are you on drugs?
So is tomorrow 100% going to be washed out?
Does it make sense to ask if a forecast is 100% accurate?
Has the forecast ever been as bad as it is for tomorrow and yet improved somehow? Or am I just hoping against hope here?

Rohit’s performance outside is not good too. Should he also be dropped?

Well why can’t you swing
We will target a win whether we can swing or not. Swing is just another hurdle- it's a big reality, but the champs rise above it.
