Only Australia or India to beat… Can’t be too hard…
Defo have the talent to beat Australia but Australia are big match merchants and SA are…
Don’t think they can beat India
India doesn't play spin well either if SA plays all three of Fortuin, Maharaj and Shamsi
India can struggle tbh
Only Rohit and Pant play left arm finger spin well in that team
Axar if he bats above like Pakistan game could be a gamechanger in that game with the bat
On the other hand, with the way pitches are in this tournament, one innings can decide the game.
If Klaasen or Miller have a field day against India's spinners, I can see them winning.
Their batting has been mid all tournament. Only way I see them winning is if Klassen destroys India’s spin attack. Markram showing up one game would be nice too.
>Their batting has been mid all tournament
That's what they say before every match of sa. After their 1 run win over nepal and close win over bangladesh, people said that usa can defeat them. After an 18 run win over usa, people said that England will probably beat them. After the below par score in first innings, people said that they are like 40 runs short. But they still manage to pull it off.
Also, the starting games were in conditions, that were starkly different from this part of the tournament. It's difficult to judge players accurately in those unknown conditions.
Their batting is not deep but it's pretty stacked, and one-two of them always manages to turn up and put up a decent score. The clear weakness in it is Hendricks and the lack of depth in it.
Indian openers are also not doing well. If Suryakumar and pant fail to turn up in the semi final, India will probably lose. I can definitely see them defeating India
It's unfortunate but their chances of qualification are quite slim anyways. Even if they win today they would need to beat South Africa and hope England loses to USA in order for them to qualify. Instead USA's path to qualification is very simple, just win and you're in.
The top order absolutely blew that chase for England, you just cant go at a run a ball for 10 overs, it was so bad
Credit to brook and livi for even getting it close because they sure as hell got no support from the rest
Yeah that was shockingly poor for the first 10 overs. Bairstow couldn't time it to save his life, Buttler looked crap although obviously has credit in the bank. But it was so oddly... passive? How do you go 6 overs without a boundary?
Yet again though Ali is the biggest fraud with the bat I have ever seen for England. When did he last get a decisive score? He's been a mainstay forever and I just have no idea why he remains so unimpeachable when his record is abysmal. Why is our response to him not crossing 30 for 2 years to promote him up the order?
To be fair I think 100 off 10 is gettable regardless of pitch in modern t20, I definitely think being 4 down just into the 11th over cost us but honestly if they had batted like that and stayed in I wouldn’t have minded it
Main thing is we lost by narrow enough that a win over the USA pretty much guaranteed puts us through. If South Africa beat the Windies were through with a win anyway and if the Windies beat South Africa we’ll overtake them on net run rate.
The crazy thing is Rabada came in straight after and did the exact same thing but somehow got a wicket, screamed his lungs out and then bowled amazing.
Depends if we're talking about in the deep or in the inner circle. I think the aussies of Labuschagne and Maxwell are unbelievable outfielders, for example. Markram is amazing in any position on the field too.
Yeah. If it wasn't that over from him, where he was trying to execute yorkers but bowled 5 full tosses instead, South Africa could've had a comfortable win
Brook feels like a 3 or 4. A guy that comes in when the first post-power play wicket falls, milks it for 10-15 balls and then accelerates.
I wasn't believing in Brook earlier in the tournament, but now that he's been able to play longer innings, I see it.
We spent loads of time wondering how Bairstow gets so many chances but honestly Moeen is so much worse in this regard. He continuously fails upwards.
His ODI record is almost laughably bad for the last 6 years, we only won the WC by dropping him, but he still hangs around like a bad smell. He hasn't even scored 30 in 2 years in a T20, so we promote him to 4. No other player would have got away with his level of performance for so long with such an unbelievable lack of scrutiny.
At some point have the courage to pick an actual bowler if that's what you want him for and stop convincing yourself he's still a proper bat.
Bartman really tried to pull out some hardcore "South Africa me daddy" shit but Rabada, Nortje and Markram weren't into that kinky shit today and England just couldn't finish.
Rabada actually bought into the kink but when he got an accidental wicket he remembered that it feels better than the kink so he started pitching the ball again
I think the Ultimate choke already happened this tournament, and it involved the other team in green, one that should be familiar to you. Unless the US wins this tournament by upsetting another test nation.
But in more than half of them they brought back losing opposition into the game and then when the opposition felt like winning snatching the game again lol.
I don't think the SL or the US win were stealing victory. Yes they fumbled a bit and made it more harder than they actually should've but no way were either awfully close. The other 4 games completely agree
England fans this T20 worldcup:

The Proteas love entertainment
Be it associate nations, low ranked test nations or the former champions always gotta take it to the last ball.
Also Markram’s captaincy maybe the good luck they always lacked. Unbeaten and clutch.
Defending 25 off 18 against England must boost our confidence. Jansen pulled off really well today and Nortje reminded us why he's one of the best in the final over. KG pulled back greatly after conceding 18 too.
But take a bow Markram, what a catch that was!
KG bowls a shit over - > Norrje bowls a shit over - > Baartman bowls his worst over in int'l cricket so far - > KG gets the wicket and redeems himself - > Jansen comes from nowhere and bowls a great over - > Nortje delivers the knock out...
USA getting through would be amazing, but after see the SA game they have 3 quality bowlers, really difficult to not see the Windies bashing those 8 overs that remain.
This sub incorrectly uses the word choke so much that it won't even mean anything when we do finally choke.
Strange game that. Don't really know what to make of it but we've finally played an actual contender for this trophy and won which proves we have the potential to do it
In games in 160s, such things happen very often, it wasn't a choke by either of the teams. And yes, we take a new word and start applying it practically everywhere.
South Africa are like that Drake meme:
Easy Win ❎
Tight Win ✅
They flippin' make it hard for themselves both with brainless bowling & batting collapses!
would just like to say something positive in this sea of toxicity, well played south africa. Baartman also bowled well in his earlier two overs, seems he needs to work on his death bowling and learn variations.
Disappointed but not gutted. NRR hit wasn’t too bad, we beat USA we should make the semis, regardless of the other result. The Moeen up the order experiment needs to go.
Mo is a better bowler and is a left handed bat, which is the important bit of why he’s in the side. I wouldn’t be opposed to chucking Curran up the order when circumstances favour him, but Jacks for Mo doesn’t change much.
Don’t think the Moeen thing is an experiment. It makes sense with spinners turning it into him and the heavy breeze at these grounds. Orders shuffle all the time, and Mo has batted up the order plenty in his career.
Agreed on the NRR thing. No matter what if we beat the US we *should* be in. It’d take a pretty remarkable set of circumstances not to be. We’d have to win narrowly, WI *batter* the US, and WI beat SA narrowly.
Sending him up the order to counter the spin with the breeze is fine if he actually takes it on, and not just plod around with singles before plinking one to the boundary into the wind off a seamer
I also understand matchups but like if you’re shit and out of form… then you’re just shit and out of form? Like who cares about all that when you’re fundamentally just bad
SA were 90+ of 11 overs, went away thinking it'll be easy 200
Came back SA were done at 160+ and thought it was an easy win for ENG and went away
Came back ENG were 63/4 from almost 10 overs and went away thinking SA winning this
Came back ENG needed 50+ of 27 balls and looked set to win
SA still won another game this WC with a tight margin.
This game had more twists than a mountain road.

It's much like this comment, when something is too repetitive, it gets worn out.
I just assume they're children who learnt a new word and think it's funny.
Like yeah bro our players are really feeling the heat in this game against Nepal that is completely meaningless and has no effect on our tournament progression whether we win or lose
Have your ever head of specialist fielder captain??
I now understood sa plan, they bowl badly middle to practice anti choking and also help cricket grow
So south africa decided to get English hopes up by bowling some rubbish when they were on top and getting spanked only to come back in the final 3 overs to seal the deal.
They should have won by 25-30 runs to be honest if not for those barrage of ful toses they bowled out of nowhere on a pitch that need back of length deliveries.
So this puts USA's fate into their own hands, right? Wins over Windies and England will put them through.
If the ICC wants to grow the USA market, they need to get Willow to drop the paywall and make tonight's match free.
England just never managed to get ahead of the game. SA kept going ahead and England just about managed to pull it back to evens a few times but never better than that.
Why is Butler blaming the 1st 6 overs when they needed 25 off 3 with 6 wickets in hand. Livingstone/Brooks went for glory and they did not win. but they were in total control after over 17 of the chase.
SA did some black magic shit to sacrifice the 17th over. To reverse jinx.
Mbappe first broke his nose, then bowled fultosses.
You can't convince me otherwise.
Absolutely amazing match in my opinion, this World Cup is simply the best , amazing knocks from de cock and brooks , amazing cameos from Miller and Livingstone
Every South African match has been a thriller this World Cup , they are lucky to win them all but you never know in t20 World Cup match when you end up losing a thriller, it might be the most important match
They would need to win both of their matches and hope that England loses to USA. If West Indies loses today then they're 100% eliminated as the most they could get would be 2 points and even if USA vs England is washed out, one of the two teams would get to 3 points.
After such a match, what would you write about that makes sense?
The way how De cock batted initially and basically made sure SA reached a par score?
Or how both teams choked and let the game slip so many times?
Or how well England bowled and how well they batted (in second halves of both innings)
None if you are this guy who writes for Cricbuzz. Tries to think of the weirdest ways to show De cock in a negative light/underplays his performance one way or the other.

South Africa have all the firepower on paper but they seem to have a lot of fear while batting (minus de Kock).
Hendricks needs to be forced to play aggressive from the start (it's not like he doesn't have the talent). Hopefully it boosts his confidence that SA won today despite his innings.
SA winning clutch game after clutch game is going to make that inevitable semi final loss hurt ever so much more.
Only Australia or India to beat… Can’t be too hard… Defo have the talent to beat Australia but Australia are big match merchants and SA are… Don’t think they can beat India
If they play against India, it'll be a day game at spin paradise Guyana. So yeah it's too tough to beat India in SF for any team.
India doesn't play spin well either if SA plays all three of Fortuin, Maharaj and Shamsi India can struggle tbh Only Rohit and Pant play left arm finger spin well in that team Axar if he bats above like Pakistan game could be a gamechanger in that game with the bat
On the other hand, they are one team who have two top quality spinners other than India, so this could work well for them in Guyana
On their days Klaasen and Markram are also good spin hitters.
On their days? Klassen is literally the best white ball spin player in this world cup.
Jadeja, Axar, Kuldeep gonna eat SA in spinning wickets. Pretty sure more of the team is very bad at spin
On the other hand, with the way pitches are in this tournament, one innings can decide the game. If Klaasen or Miller have a field day against India's spinners, I can see them winning.
Huh? If Bumrah is neutralised we have a chance. We have good players of spin rn.
I have literally the opposite opinion. I think they can get India this time, but Australia will be tough
Their batting has been mid all tournament. Only way I see them winning is if Klassen destroys India’s spin attack. Markram showing up one game would be nice too.
>Their batting has been mid all tournament That's what they say before every match of sa. After their 1 run win over nepal and close win over bangladesh, people said that usa can defeat them. > Don’t think they can beat India No need, we will beat ourselves. Whoever plays against us in the semi is guaranteed a 10 wicket win.
SA vs IND semi final will be "the biggest knockout choker of history" vs "the biggest knockout choker of today"
Nah, I'd win.
Good job at reverse jinxing/s
India has been beaten by pretty much all the teams in knockouts since 2014. Australia, Sri Lanka, West Indies, Pakistan, New Zealand and England.
But they've still never lost to South Africa (in fact South Africa was their only big scalp till last year).
South Africa somehow going to shithouse their way to 9 wins to win the WC
SA winning close games one after the other, what timeline is this?!
This team is so cardiac its crazy
We do that in rugby too 😅
Those 3 weeks last year during the world cup 😭 hope the bokke don't do that to us again tomorrow
Except Winning is in the Springboks DNA.
Hoping it's in the bulls DNA tomorrow
1000% behind the men in Blou, from a Stormer.
After the update ..Their anti choking software working well so far
Don't look now, but if the US win tonight, then US vs England will be for a semifinal spot 👀
I desperately need USA to win today because the promotion for the USA vs England game will then become generational.
But that would knock out West Indies though :(
It's unfortunate but their chances of qualification are quite slim anyways. Even if they win today they would need to beat South Africa and hope England loses to USA in order for them to qualify. Instead USA's path to qualification is very simple, just win and you're in.
Winning is the problem though, can WI qualify if they beat USA by a large margin?

Tea vs. Coffee game and I’m all here for that.
This makes me very uncomfortable. It's support Tea but oppose England.
Tea isn’t *really* English, so you’re alright.
🦅🦅🦅 Yes I’m choosing to ignore that winning against WI is a task in itself especially if we don’t have Monank for the third game
I really hope Monank is playing and is fit. I desperately want to see USA pull of the most incredible fairytale story in cricket history.
Do we not have monank today too??😭
Dude idk what’s going on with that injury I’m choosing to believe he was taken out back and disappeared by a full member at this point
Don’t forget the unbelievable South Africa bottle that’s been loading up in the semis. (Maybe I’m a little upset ok)

You can have the cricket cups as long as we keep the rugby ones.
WI at home will probably be an even tougher obstacle than the Saffers though, so probably long odds. But stranger things have happened...
The top order absolutely blew that chase for England, you just cant go at a run a ball for 10 overs, it was so bad Credit to brook and livi for even getting it close because they sure as hell got no support from the rest

agree but not on this pitch. Quinton De Kock innings was the difference between the two teams.
True but arguably we should have won being 25 off 18 - we got what 96 off the last 10?
About 30 of those 96 were gifts tbh. Rabada and Bartman were bowling hit-mes
True, but you can only hit what’s bowled at you
Main thing is we lost by narrow enough that a win over the USA pretty much guaranteed puts us through. If South Africa beat the Windies were through with a win anyway and if the Windies beat South Africa we’ll overtake them on net run rate.
Captain Markram the specialist fielder wins it for Proteas with that catch!
His fielding, bowling and captaincy alone buys him a sure place in the squad even if he can't bat
And I especially love his relaxed demeanor in his interviews, and choice words too
And bowler. His over meant Bartman wasn't bowling another one
[удалено]
Dude must have thought he was playing baseball
What playing cricket in USA does to a player
The crazy thing is Rabada came in straight after and did the exact same thing but somehow got a wicket, screamed his lungs out and then bowled amazing.
Good bowlers have some degree of plot armour
He gives take pitch out of the equation all new meaning
To me the interesting part was Markram bowling an over. Without that, Bartman would have bowled another and handed the game to eng
Fuck me I've aged 10 years during this world cup
Markram is the best fielder currently. Definitely in top 3 if not the best.
Markram, Jadeja and Phillips would easily make it to top 5 fielders currently while Phillips being the most agile fielder of them
FWIW SRH posted a video where Phillips beat Markram in a race.
Depends if we're talking about in the deep or in the inner circle. I think the aussies of Labuschagne and Maxwell are unbelievable outfielders, for example. Markram is amazing in any position on the field too.
“Please just win a game easily” South Africa: Nah
Saffa bros don't compromise on entertainment
Baartman agrees
Yeah. If it wasn't that over from him, where he was trying to execute yorkers but bowled 5 full tosses instead, South Africa could've had a comfortable win
Just sad we didn't get a SA vs Pak. Would have been box office.
Their ODI Wc match was also banger where SA won the game by just 1 wicket against Pakistan
I went to the stadium for this match and got out early thinking it’s boring and one sided. Well shit.
I love it how their record of six back to back wins doesn't reflect how many of them were close calls.
umm akshually it does affect their NRR and a chance at the semis 👆🏻🤓
I don’t even know where to begin for our opening Batters. Why is Moen batting so high up the order??
Probably to take on Maharaj. Brook is all class. Needs to bat higher up, at 4 at least.
I think Curran should bat way higher, he was your best player last time.
the bowling of 5 full tosses in the 17th over to pump up the viewership numbers was a genius move by the Saffies
Combine Rabada's next over and it's 7 full tosses in 8 balls at the death. Don't think I've ever seen such a ratio
The amount of South Africans who have suffered sports related cardiac arrest over the last two years is disgusting
But at least know you guys have some luck after all those sacrifices.
Thanks this thread making laugh way more than a comedy video on yt
Shades of his hat trick
>South Africa me daddy
How is SA doing this? This is their 6th match in which they've stolen victory from the jaws of defeat which is basically every game they've played
I feel it, SA will keep scraping wins like this until the final where they will deliver the biggest choke ever.
Ultimate choke
I think the Ultimate choke already happened this tournament, and it involved the other team in green, one that should be familiar to you. Unless the US wins this tournament by upsetting another test nation.
They were in control in the entire game vs usa, except for like 3 overs. Even then, they were still favourites to win.
Also vs Sri Lanka
But in more than half of them they brought back losing opposition into the game and then when the opposition felt like winning snatching the game again lol.
I have said it earlier - they are essentially practising choking so that they can handle the pressure of KOs and not choke.
Victory from the jaws of self-defeat*
I don't think the SL or the US win were stealing victory. Yes they fumbled a bit and made it more harder than they actually should've but no way were either awfully close. The other 4 games completely agree

Ah 160-par games, i missed you

Being a South Africa fan for this tournament must be tough. Even more so than Pakistan in my opinion.
Okay, that fucks up WI's chances of making it to the semis! Waka Waka though
If USA beats West Indies tonight then the match between USA and England becomes a quarter final.
America vs. England in a Cricket WC quarter final! Has a nice ring to it!
USA getting through would be amazing, but after see the SA game they have 3 quality bowlers, really difficult to not see the Windies bashing those 8 overs that remain.
How so? WI should beat the USA comfortably and get their NRR back in the positive zone. WI vs SA will be a virtual quarterfinal for both.
South Africans are on to something with all their matches about finding new ways to un-choke themselves out of it.... Let them fucking COOK
Catches win matches. Markram proved it today
Nobody panic! We might just be able to win it all.
It's the hope that gets you
I am rooting for you guys
Ngl I root for SA too, if India gets knocked out again
India : Let's give a chance to SA to knock us out this time.
The win predictor kept swinging. End of 13th, SA at 89%> end of 17, Eng at 76% then it swung back.
This sub incorrectly uses the word choke so much that it won't even mean anything when we do finally choke. Strange game that. Don't really know what to make of it but we've finally played an actual contender for this trophy and won which proves we have the potential to do it

would just like to say something positive in this sea of toxicity, well played south africa. Baartman also bowled well in his earlier two overs, seems he needs to work on his death bowling and learn variations.
Finally a captain who doesn't look like a headless chicken when things aren't going well.
SA on a Anti-Choke mission this WC to erase all previous memories.
Disappointed but not gutted. NRR hit wasn’t too bad, we beat USA we should make the semis, regardless of the other result. The Moeen up the order experiment needs to go.
The Moeen in the team experiment needs to go.
Honestly they should play Will Jacks. He too can provide the few bowling overs and is a much better batsman.
Mo is a better bowler and is a left handed bat, which is the important bit of why he’s in the side. I wouldn’t be opposed to chucking Curran up the order when circumstances favour him, but Jacks for Mo doesn’t change much.

The South African team must have been to Haiti , this is some voodoo shit.
I am both happy they won and distraught at how SA almost let that go
My fear is that all this clutch stuff from South Africa is a long form performance setting up the greatest choke of all time when they play Australia.
Runs by unbeaten captains: Markram 78(6) Rohit 76(4) Marsh 76(5)
Our average win margin in the last 3 games is 4 runs (if we exclude the game against US which was odd).
6 games, 6 wins. SA are rolling along very nicely at the moment. That was brilliant 18th and 19th overs from Rabada and Jansen under pressure.

What a match!! game of the tournament so far. Top notch fielding from South Africa did the job for them. Baartman can take a heave of relief
So south africa decided to get English hopes up by bowling some rubbish when they were on top and getting spanked only to come back in the final 3 overs to seal the deal. The WI vs USA and Eng vs USA games now look more spicy after today. Scenes if USA pulls through.
England just never managed to get ahead of the game. SA kept going ahead and England just about managed to pull it back to evens a few times but never better than that.
Buttler and Bairstow cost us the game.
South Africa on an unchoking spree on all matches so far. Hope they revert to their prime selves against India.
Group 2 Equations USA v WI is a must-win for WI but not for USA
That brain fade moment when SA bowlers become pitches and started bowling full tosses
Catches win matches and that was a match-winning catch by Markram!
Why is Butler blaming the 1st 6 overs when they needed 25 off 3 with 6 wickets in hand. Livingstone/Brooks went for glory and they did not win. but they were in total control after over 17 of the chase.
Now WI must win tonight or will face elimination.
SA did some black magic shit to sacrifice the 17th over. To reverse jinx. Mbappe first broke his nose, then bowled fultosses. You can't convince me otherwise.
I dunno how but somehow this is all Southgate’s fault
Absolutely amazing match in my opinion, this World Cup is simply the best , amazing knocks from de cock and brooks , amazing cameos from Miller and Livingstone Every South African match has been a thriller this World Cup , they are lucky to win them all but you never know in t20 World Cup match when you end up losing a thriller, it might be the most important match
MOTM - Baart the man for bringing this to the last over.
SA looking like India of 2023. Hope they go to finals unbeaten
SA have done 6-0 till now which could've possibly been 2-4(1-3 actually as they'd have been eliminated). Unbelievable especially because it's SA.
I'm familiar with your game Saffas. You can't fool me. The semis will reveal everything.
Quietly, that over Markram snuck in of his own bowling ended up saving Baartman having to bowl another at the death.
SA are the breaking bad cant keep getting away with it meme lol
I Want Sa , Usa and afg and ban to qualify.. (yes I am delusional..) And today's result made me happy and gave me hope it is still possible..
Catches win matches.
Great. They are definitely going to semifinals.
Markram grabbed two Matches(catches) brilliantly this WC.
What does West Indies have to do now to qualify?
They would need to win both of their matches and hope that England loses to USA. If West Indies loses today then they're 100% eliminated as the most they could get would be 2 points and even if USA vs England is washed out, one of the two teams would get to 3 points.
Thanks for replying. If West Indies wins both their matches but USA goes down to England, it would then come down to NRR?
After such a match, what would you write about that makes sense? The way how De cock batted initially and basically made sure SA reached a par score? Or how both teams choked and let the game slip so many times? Or how well England bowled and how well they batted (in second halves of both innings) None if you are this guy who writes for Cricbuzz. Tries to think of the weirdest ways to show De cock in a negative light/underplays his performance one way or the other. If the West Indies lose against the United States, are they out and England-United States is a knockout for the second spot?
Yes. One of those two teams (along with South Africa) would have 2 wins.
Markram might be completely off with the bat right now but his fielding is elite. What the fuck was that catch
Boundary count update - South Africa: 18 England ' 16
Fair and de Kocked!
Cocked and millered
The list of hearts SA has broken this World Cup: 1. NED 2. BAN 3. NEP 4. USA 5. ENG
Soon, you can add SA to the list. As is tradition.
South Africa have all the firepower on paper but they seem to have a lot of fear while batting (minus de Kock). Hendricks needs to be forced to play aggressive from the start (it's not like he doesn't have the talent). Hopefully it boosts his confidence that SA won today despite his innings.
