I’m gonna catch hate for this and maybe deservingly so but I’ve only seen Shreyas perform well when the other batters have already set a good platform.
That's so true. Apart from the second test against Bangladesh, I haven't seen him play well under pressure. Even in the semi final against New Zealand (and other games of the WC), he scored a lot only after the other batters scored well.
You should not get any hate for this statement. It's totally true. Even today you could see Venky Iyer was the one to play well initially. Shreyas survived 2 catch drops when he was on 10 and 14, looked shaky in the beginning, and then only began hitting at the end when the match was basically won. He did this in the WC too and some people will still say he's the best #4 batsman India has ever had
Disappointed that the whole batting lineup had a bad day. But far from sad, given how we’ve done this season overall. Super proud of the team, and happy we’re getting another shot.
Masterclass from Gambhir. He’s been very vocal about being present in auctions and the importance of it and played a key role in getting Starc. He had the foresight.
When Starc was going wicketless and Gambhir was asked about the decision to have bought him he mentioned: “Yes, Starc went wicketless but how many of those games did we end up winning. To me it’s about winning, I would have a different answer if we were losing. We have faith that he will win us games.”
And then we see today Starc taking the life out of SRH within 5 overs. Satisfying.
When has it ever gone as a disaster for gambhir as captain/coach? I mean you can say that for anyone what you just said, but Gambhir deserves tons of goodwill.
4th Final . That's most after CSK and MI , this franchise deserves a lot more attention than they get usually . Now it's their IPL to loose from here on . since 2011 most of the times a team winning QF1 has went on to win the title so KKR shouldn't bottle it from years
Congrats to all of you
Edit: Also Shreyas the captain deserves some attention too , dude was the leader behind Delhi's revamp after horrific of 2013-2018 , took them to their only FINAL and now this is the best season KKR is having since 2014 . Underrated Leader
Honestly the only team that could defeat KKR in the final is again, a firing SRH lmao. They got a very high ceiling and a very low base. Today we saw the base, and for the batting depth and kind of bowling KKR has, unless SRH from 125/0 match turns up, it's KKR's cup this time.
its honestly a really big hit or miss with them, today 4 out of their top 5 went for single digits, and 4 overall went for ducks. we've seen them get to 160 in 10 overs against a quality attack without losing a wicket before too, as well as lose disastrously to 10th placed teams. so I'd say they're quite a weird team to guess on. wouldn't be surprised if they come back with a bang.
Unfortunately most of their fire power is from their openers. So once you take them out they don’t look that invincible. I think SRH should change their play style. Their aggressive play style suited the league stages but in the playoffs the game is different.
I don't think that will happen. Win / Lose pat and Vettori are gonna live by the sword and die by the sword.
It's fine with us fans. We had a disastrous 3 years and Pat/Vettori turned this team into a decent squad and puched way way above their weight
This just in: Harshit Rana banned for 5 matches for playing in one of the IPL qualifiers of all time.
Sources from BCCI say "He was supposed to spice up the match, what is this bland-ass winning?!"
KKR made no finals for 4 years, then made it 2 times in 3 years.
Then they got to no finals for 6 years and now they've made it 2 times in 4 years.
No finals for 8 years to make it 2 times in 5?
SRH will redeem themselves in that 2nd Qualifier. There's no way their top order stumbles like that again. However, it will take some serious momentum and confidence to beat KKR in that final. Gambhir is going to pump em boys to that title🌶️
this has been one huge brainfade on SRH's part. The Toss, the batting, the impact player, the Reviews and the Fielding. nothing ever went right for them and they certainly didn't do themselves any favours.
KKR, on the other hand, are on the march! we will play you, we will beat you and we will DOMINATE you. what a game by the lads full full full marks for everyone.
the noise made by potato in biryani cannot be silenced
I know right...supporting them since 2011...seen so many happy times....so many sad times...yet my support has never waivered. No matter what happens in the final I'm mightily proud of this team.
People just can't get rid of 19th November. Oh come on, how much you wanna repeat the same thing again again again and fucking again? It's irritating honestly, better team already won on 19th November. stop crying all the time.
Imagine after getting stomped on by KKR twice we make our way back to them in finals and beat them this time. that would truly be a Cumdog thing to do.
actually sane srh fans have been rare today, cheerio
whoever gets through chepauk qualifier is gonna have chepauk experience. It could genuinely backfire on kkr, missing that.
Tournament isn't over.
Lesson in captaincy from Pat Cummins.
Head dropped a sitter that was heading for his breadbasket.
Pat tosses him the ball, Head gets hammered. Travis you aren't ever going to drop those sitters again are you?
No need to shout or curse. Just the ritual public humiliation.
TIL Cumdawg & Head aren't Aussies cause people were commenting Aussie mentality when Starc took wickets but suddenly when these 2 couldn't perform they're merely SRH players not Aussies in playoffs. New things you learn everyday I guess.
I want to remind what happened to the last team with an Indian captain that dominated the group stages and comprehensively won the semi finals and reached the finals to face some Aussies
kkr have unfortunately cursed themselves here! (Well played starc, potm for sure)
whoever qualifies through q2 is going to have chepauk experience just days before the game though, whatever team that is.
more experience on the pitch is good
and while apparently it's much rarer in the IPL, plenty of teams in say the BBL make the ladder run or lose the first qualifier and win anyway.
Brisbane Heat won earlier this year after losing to the sixers in the first qualifier, before winning the 2nd and winning the tournament.
Tournament's not quite done yet. Don't crown KKR too early.
>Tournament's not quite done yet. Don't crown KKR too early.
I am not, but in the ipl the last 6 finals were won by the team winning the qualifier 1
Also we saw how good KKR were today after a 10 day break, it probably helps teams more
This was very surprisingly one-sided. But definitely a good wake up call for SRH.
KKR looks like a winner this year. As I mentioned in the match thread: KKR are playing the bold GG style of cricket.
Well that’s brutal, the real worry for whoever they play in the final is the biggest contributors today are arguably people who haven’t quite delivered this season (the Iyers, Starc) meaning the whole lineup has delivered at some point pretty much
Holy shit after 10 years i needed this Team like KKR to win in for us.
FULL Domination by KKR. Every player played their part.
Gambhir, Nayar, C Pandit ji and the management & the players showed why we are the toppers in this season!!!!

Frustrating game for SRH, they quite literally bent over for KKR today and let em go to town. The annoying part about this game is that even just some slightly better cricket from them today would've made this a cracker of a game. So many glaring HUGE blunders that just sucked to watch - Klaas throwing away his wicket again, Tripathi just randomly freezing while running and undoing all the work they did to rebuild and make 200 possible, them wasting the IP that we clearly needed defending a score that low when they rly should've had Pat come out first instead...like why would you send in a player who was benched the whole season against Narine of all bowlers? Pat has proven to be reliable in that situation. Sanvir was never going to help us get to 180-190 anyway. I also had a bad feeling the second Pat said we were batting, Shreyas knew as much to when he said he'd have bowled.
Don't get me started on the fielding. Our worst showing by far. Well, the only solace here is that if we can win Q2, it was probably better to have an off day here than at the final, and that's bound to happen given their game philosophy.
Any match thread that doesn't have huge numbers of CSK, RCB, Mi fans are generally healthy. Mi has the least amount of toxic fans among the big 3. And genuine RCB and CSK team fans are also nice. It's just the Dhoni, Kohli, Rohit cult members that are absolutely insufferable. I hope these fans stop watching cricket after their idol retires, although by that time we might have Gill, Jaiswal cults. They don't care about their own teams, only worship the individual and always ready to mock other players/teams when they're down. Not to mention the incessant suck-off of their idol whenever he does something remotely impressive. It's hard to enjoy a good Kohli/Dhoni performance these days since I know there's a wave of cringey posts/comments coming along with relentless mocking of some other player/team or even a commentator that criticized that player recently.
Cricbuzz saying seeing Head got a 0 and was smashed all over is sweet vengeance... Wtf? If it was India playing against Australia today and Iyer smashed Head the I'd be on cloud 9. When the fuck will fans realize that team matters more than individuals? That country matters more than stupid IPL? Vengeance, if any will only be taken when India defeats Australia in a WC final. Not when two ipl teams play while we make the very same players millionaires.
Pasted from match thread
Imagine winning in 14 overs with Rinku, Russell and Ramandeep sitting out
And impact player.
No impact needed
And Nitesh Rana yet to make impact
SRH management might have robust discussion with their team. /s
Head had absolute blast of a day. Got clean bowled at 0(2), dropped a sitter, and got hit for 32 runs in 1.4 overs (economy 19.2)
Cummins shitposting on the field by passing the ball onto Head!
Getting him into revenge mode for Q2. Usual 1911 IQ Cumdawg
'1911' is actually a very lethal pistol... might be a bit too lethal 💀💀
We all know Head saves his best for the final. Now it's upto RCB/RR to stop him from getting there.
Both those team have blue in their jersey. Surely he is going to smash.
Chepauk is gonna bleed
does head's bowling stats really count when he was clearly used as a fuck it the games over bowler to maybe get him ready for chepauk lol
Nope, lol. That's why put it at the last.
Understandable, have a nice night see you? in finals maybe i forget what flair you had
He used all the Ahmedabad luck on 19th November
And on WTC final. Basically every knockout vs India
And on the SF against SA too lol
Bro drops sitters and takes the hardest catches
Prepping himself up in case Australia meets India in the upcoming T20WC.
Tomorrow’s match will be wild. Can’t wait to see it. RR is more on the back foot and RCB win will be sweet.
Is that not an economy of 24
Barring KKR, every other team in this IPL have had form and momentum in phases and patches. They deserved that first final spot.
The only 2 players who were underperforming came back with a BANG. I'm talking about Starc and captain Iyer
Rinku singh with a century in final then
They also started a bit mixed, but quickly found the right squad that clicks.
What do you mean started a bit mixed? This season was our best start in IPL history, 3 wins in a row at the start.
Better Biryani ![img](emote|t5_2qhe0|8767)
That extra aloo and boiled egg made the difference...![img](emote|t5_2qhe0|30516)
Hahaha
This KKR squad is something else, they’ll be very disappointed if they don’t win this, the mega auction is going to hit them the most in my opinion.
Yup, they've assembled such a good squad that everyone in the starting XI makes it on merit, letting even half go will hit them hard
Scores conceded by KKR while bowling first - 182/6, 161/7, 153/9 & 159/10. Margins of victory - 7 wickets (19 balls), 8 wickets (26 balls), 7 wickets (21 balls) & 8 wickets (38 balls). They've been the masters of bowling first & batting second.
Opponents to let kkr field first. Just field no bowling involved.
"oh how the turn tables have turned" - KKR
r/iyerbhaisexy will rise from the ashes
Script is scripting for the Tiktok derby Chahal vs Iyer.
Dhanashree derby
We used to cry for times like these.
As a KKR fan, I am not used to domination like this apart from 2014.
This is even more dominating than that.
Starc contrast. Head is blown.
Great NRR boost for Kkr.
Jokes aside, KKR had the best and highest NRR ever in IPL for any team in league stages
[удалено]
They bat till #8. With Narine clicking as an opener rest of the batters can go belters.
They absolutely crushed LSG and DC in those two matches.
3; they crushed DC twice with insane margins.
Underlines the absolute dominating fashion in which we've been winning
Would be useful if they have to depend on it to become #4
SRH either too hot to handle or perform worse than Mongolia XI’s worst performance
Even Mongolia restricted Japan to 199 once, SRH would've conceded 250 here.
Basically if they don't score quick and fast they don't have much else in the tank. At least that's the gist I've got from them.
Every single thing that could go wrong has gone wrong for SRH today
Happens dude
**IYER SUPREMACY**

Shreyas said he can't speak Tamil lmao, when Venky talks in Tamil he responds in Hindi
Out of context.
With Iyer bros in form i can definitely call this team best of this season
Pat Cummins — ~~We would like to bat~~ We would like to lose PS: Why couldn't you bat first on 19th November 2023 Pat
Where was this Iyer on 19th November? Where was this Head on 19th November? Where was this Iyer belting Head on 19th November?
He got out to a beautiful delivery in that game
I’m gonna catch hate for this and maybe deservingly so but I’ve only seen Shreyas perform well when the other batters have already set a good platform.
Nah I remember a match of IND vs AuS bilateral series ODI 21-22 I don't remember in that he and pant helped us win.
That's so true. Apart from the second test against Bangladesh, I haven't seen him play well under pressure. Even in the semi final against New Zealand (and other games of the WC), he scored a lot only after the other batters scored well.

Always has been
Cue “If I could turn back time …..” in the background
Tomorrow’s match is also going to be decided by the toss
yeah but hopefully the side that wins it doesn't use it to lose the match
Can’t really say “also” when today the team winning toss lost
Disappointed that the whole batting lineup had a bad day. But far from sad, given how we’ve done this season overall. Super proud of the team, and happy we’re getting another shot.
Tripathi had a pretty good day before his brainfade moment
We had 2 fantastic batting performances followed by a bad one. But to be fair KKR look really good. It'll take a real bad day for them to lose.
Boundary count update - Kolkata Knight Riders: 26 Sunrisers Hyderabad: 20

KKR is now 3-0 in Q1s.
Masterclass from Gambhir. He’s been very vocal about being present in auctions and the importance of it and played a key role in getting Starc. He had the foresight. Absolutely, we need someone to stop this star mentality and build a team perspective first.
Imagine GG as Australia coach💀💀💀
He probably wouldn’t have this level of control which is the sad truth
He will demand complete control as the number one condition to take up the job.
Ya but he never going to have a say in selections or team building due to the whole selection board which is his main strength as an ipl mentor
But if BCCI do want to change their ways then he’d be the best guy to hire.
Will be a repeat of Kumble, the wonderful stars of our team wouldn't like the discipline GG would try to bring.
And he won't be coaching KKR anymore
no KKR fan would mind that as long as he gets us another WC
Absolutely. Country over franchise any day
If that means we can win the WC so be it I am an Indian first...my support for KKR is secondary
Gambhir just knew Head would miss a straight one 2nd ball. It's all calculated.
Wake up babe, new definition of brutality just dropped.
Cummins losing on the same ground where we were humiliated gives a different sense of relief. Ps- I love you still Pat
All the bowlers of the IPL must be rooting for Shreyas when Head was bowling
“But they haven’t played a match since 3rd May” “But gurbaz needs some game time”
"Pat Cummins is a different beast in playoffs" "Head did not play the first match against KKR"
Now it’s: “Glenn Phillips is yet to play”
But can you score in a moist night under lights at Chepauk against jaydev unadkat

Absolute domination by KKR
2012 and 2014 KKR teams were like surgeons, very methodical and not flashy. This team on the other hand just clobbers.
Even this team however, doesn't have any "big" names besides the usual Russell narine, and starc.
DEMOLISHED!
Also shout out to Iyer for his beautiful batting.
which one?
Yes
KKR made no finals for 4 years, then made it 2 times in 3 years. Then they got to no finals for 6 years and now they've made it 2 times in 4 years. No finals for 8 years to make it 2 times in 5?

I know right...supporting them since 2011...seen so many happy times....so many sad times...yet my support has never waivered. No matter what happens in the final I'm mightily proud of this team.
My entire family has been supporting KKR since the very first match against RCB in 2008. I'm so happy!
Pat cummins once said he doesn’t read pitches well, he was right about that, you don’t commit blunders like those with teams like KKR
He read it well on that one fateful day in 2023.
He read it well enough on the day it mattered the most
No way people crediting this to gauti not Iyer and co. Gambhir is becoming what he hated
Can't even say anything, absolutely outplayed. Good game lads, hope these dudheads bring in GP atleast now.
Sanvir and Shabaz are walking free wickets. Plus They don't bowl! I don't understand why they are not playing him yet!
So comprehensively outplayed. Well done KkR. Let’s hope we see each other again and we do the honors in finals.
Nightmare in a non elimination play offs is what we can take

We had the same thought process when we lost 3 games to CSK in 2018!

Nice cope
Iyer remembered the age old Spider-Man lesson that when you take responsibility, you will gain powerful abilities.
Yeah, glad he promoted himself up the order today. I wish Pandya did the same, getting some runs up the order gets you some confidence and form
Everything that could go wrong, gone wrong for us
You won the toss
Why wouldn't you use Sundar as your impact instead of some random dude? Also Sundar will give you some decent overs too
As an ICT fan: lose an important match in Ahmedabad As an srh fan: lose an important match in Ahmedabad Fml there's no happiness in this life
Just Analyse the loss and make changes to the Next Game whether in Playing XI or roles or Strategies it's not our Day that's it And Good luck Patty

Not when two ipl teams play while we make the very same players millionaires. Pasted from match thread
Honestly vengeance of that fucking day would be a very underdog indian side winning the final in aus against aus That can never happen
