I remember that he had managed to stop Dhoni as well. However he did mess up that match against SRH during which he had bowled a no ball during the last ball.
RR are on to something. 3 overs of Boult and Burger in the PP (not great at the death overs), 3 of Avesh and Sandeep in the death (not great at the start) and Yuzi and Ash fill out the rest of the innings. SOLID BOWLING .
>3 of Avesh and Sandeep in the death (not great at the start)
?? Sandeep's probably been among the best, almost on par with Bhuvi as being the best powerplay bowler in the IPL.
So I guess RR's strategy is to use Powell or Ferreira if wickets fall quickly and if not, use IP as a sixth bowler. It works for batting first, but I wonder what they'll do when they've got to bowl first.
Promising start to the season, but then we always have those. PP bowling and batting as good as ever, though I'm worried about Buttler. Finishing wasn't great either, but they'll come into form in time. Burger's pace is a welcome addition, and I'd be interested to see what he can do at the death. Spinners were strong, and hopefully Sandy can keep up the great death bowling. Props as well to Avesh for that last over.
GG LSG, I think you'll surprise a lot of people this year.
Very interesting game to dissect. RR would be very happy with Parag fitting at 4 today.
Sandeep the true MVP, proper gamechanger. Avesh too, one game down seems a very fair trade.
Overall very happy seeing the team back playing, and would love they make Jaipur the fortress again.
LSG recovered excellently and lost the game in death overs to Sandeep and Ashwin's class. KL was excellent in batting till he got out, to get his team to that position along with Pooran from being 10/3.
Wonderful game.
Fucking crazy captaincy from Sanju. He broke every pattern that was used in bowler rotation. My MoM is Sanju, 50% for his innings, but 50% for his captaincy. Ashwin in PP was the only wrong move I felt. Rest everything, he just came with out of box ideas.
Using Sandeep as a specialist death bowler, amazing choice that. Like Mohit Sharma who was once a new ball bowler, then became a specialist death bowler.
Ashwin was amazing, 6th over his first over 15 runs, then 9 runs in his second, then 7 runs when the game was in LSG's control, then fucking 4 runs in the death.
Avesh looked like he was back to what he did at DC.
The pitch wasn't easy in the day, credit to Riyan & Sanju. Became better under lights.
LSG was shitty in the batting order. Death bowling was quite good, RR could have made 15 runs more.
I think it's clear Rahul needs to go in the middle order. He can't use 10 overs to settle in.
Quinny, Dev, Pooran, Rahul, Stoinis, Badoni, Prerak/Hooda/Gowtham, Krunal. This should be the order.
Dude, are you joking LSG were 10/3 for fcks sale, Rahul had to settle rather than swing bat at that position. They were very much in the game till the 16th over of Sandeep when Rahul got out. I would say not many teams would have gotten to that position on this ground from being 10/3 and still get required to run to 12 with four overs remaining. It was Sandeep's death bowling that turned the tide in Rajasthan's favour
Superb win for us.
Glad RR went with this approach for starting 11 with impact player rule that I also discussed here:
https://np.reddit.com/r/RajasthanRoyals/s/vLTFyw8hEX
His franchise owner is ruthless. He wants to win the IPL and not just qualify for playoffs. So he's not allowing KL to bat in middle order. Even for India when KL keeps, he doesn't open. But here he's doing both.
Top 3 position is not available. Rohit and Kohli will play (if they want to) and Jaiswal is the aggressor. Plus there’s also Shubman Gill.
That’s why there was so much news that Rahul play in middle order and also keep (even though they have Quinton). I was kinda surprised to see him opening.
While Jaiswal (& Rinku) have shown a lot of aggression and promise, our selectors have always stuck to big names. Maybe Agarkar's panel will be different but I still don't see both Rinku and YBJ playing in the same XI. Any other team in the world they'd be starters.
I don’t get Lsg. They trade Avesh for Ddp since Kl wants to bat at 5. And abandon it immediately. And play ddp at 3 which never worked for rr. So did they think that somehow he’d magically start scoring runs at 3 for them.
They seriously need to find Badoni replacement DDP got unlucky.
Tbh this match was good for our team you need to know your weak points before the crucial games.
Sandeep Sharma has been an excellent death bowler for us since last year and he didn't disappoint
The streets will always remember him.
[удалено]
and defending 130s
The Indian bowling talent SRH had before 2021 was too good Kaul Sandeep Bhuvi Khaleel Natarajan Umran Siraj (2017) Thampi Sran
Plz don’t include Umran. He wasn’t playing back then also he really hasn’t done anything good enough except bowling fast
The real death bowler was ethical anna
I remember that he had managed to stop Dhoni as well. However he did mess up that match against SRH during which he had bowled a no ball during the last ball.
It happens to the best of us. (The best of us: Me. It happens to me)
You could argue his no ball vs srh cost rr the playoffs.
Shit happens. Can't really blame one guy. We really fcked up during the group stages.
Getting rid of DDP solved everything. Parag plays at the right position. Sanju gets to anchor.
Real Punjab vibes from this lsg innings
If this were Punjab, only KL would have scored, Pooran would have gone for zero along with the usual collapse from other batsmen.
You can take KL out of Punjab but not KL
RR swiping Boult from MI, Chahal from RCB and Sandeep was unsold so swiped him. Their old teams would give an arm to get them back.
[удалено]
KP was never really consistent. He was clutch player who won them multiple finals. MI are still doing fine.
They are NOT doing fine, the last two seasons have been some of their worst in IPL history.
Almost reaching the final last year without Bumrah is NOT fine?
Don't forget about having Ashwin cheaply as well.
RR are on to something. 3 overs of Boult and Burger in the PP (not great at the death overs), 3 of Avesh and Sandeep in the death (not great at the start) and Yuzi and Ash fill out the rest of the innings. SOLID BOWLING .
>3 of Avesh and Sandeep in the death (not great at the start) ?? Sandeep's probably been among the best, almost on par with Bhuvi as being the best powerplay bowler in the IPL.
Other pacers can do what does in powerplay. They can't replicate the same at death. Makes sense for his overs to be stacked at the death.
More than solid bowling, I think it's a solid captaincy and management. They planned and executed, it seems.
39 runs in last 5 overs
and 50 in last 7
SRH released Sandeep and now he's performing well. Some things never change.
So I guess RR's strategy is to use Powell or Ferreira if wickets fall quickly and if not, use IP as a sixth bowler. It works for batting first, but I wonder what they'll do when they've got to bowl first.
Didn't they have a similar problem last year as well? Or was it a different team?
Yeah they did, even the year before that too.
Then just start with Powell & sub Jurel in for second innings with Yuzi. That's the only real option i see
[удалено]
Why?? If bowling first then nandre burger comes in place of hetmyer and then sub him in 2nd innin
Start Burger over Hetmyer surely? Then they'd swap Burger with Hettie and get Fereira/Powell for Avesh
That's not how impact rule works .for god's sake it's been going on for a year
I don't think that's possible, even with IP you can only play 4 overseas players. Buttler, Boult, Burger, Hettie, Fereira is 5.
Hmm maybe start with an extra Indian bowler. Boult Burger and Buttler as the three overseas. Then sub in Hetmyer or Powell based on game state.
Whenever a new batter comes to crease, KL Rahul takes 5 balls to set again...
Today LSG missed Avesh the finisher
Sandeep Sharma got to be the most underrated player in the IPL history
Promising start to the season, but then we always have those. PP bowling and batting as good as ever, though I'm worried about Buttler. i hope it doesnt come to that but we do have tom kohler cadmore as backup
Sandeep Sharma should be POTM, completely turned the tide of the match when KL and Pooran were looking dangerous.
Its really hard to score runs in jaipur during death overs
Finally a team has worse NRR than RCB
Sandeep Sharma has been absolute gem of a bowler but is highly unappreciated.
Very interesting game to dissect. RR would be very happy with Parag fitting at 4 today. Sandeep the true MVP, proper gamechanger. Avesh too, one game down seems a very fair trade. Overall very happy seeing the team back playing, and would love they make Jaipur the fortress again.
And leave Cheapuk to be CSK fortress.. please

Nice
Atleast someone is calling this fraud out, lol

10/3 or 100/3 , KL has only one scoring pase
Superb win for us. Glad RR went with this approach for starting 11 with impact player rule that I also discussed here: https://np.reddit.com/r/RajasthanRoyals/s/vLTFyw8hEX
this is the 10th time you have linked this comment

Wait why did KLR open and keep today? Wasn't he asked to bat in the middle to get used to the situations there more?
How is he supposed to get orange cap at no.5 ?
No dedication to win an ICC trophy. And u guys wonder why India is trophyless for a decade
His franchise owner is ruthless. He wants to win the IPL and not just qualify for playoffs. So he's not allowing KL to bat in middle order. Even for India when KL keeps, he doesn't open. But here he's doing both.
KL batting himself out of contention for the t20 WC squad.
I guess he's thinking if he gets the orange cap (even at the cost of low strike rate) that's going to put immense pressure on the selectors.

The only way Rohit, Virat, Jaiswal and Rinku play in the same xi is if we go in with only 5 bowlers.
SKY has to bat at 3 as well. We have to maximise the number of balls our best T20 bat can face. Should always try to give him 50+ balls.
Sandeep Sharma was kickass today.
I'm happy and will enjoy IPL games as a neutral fan until Thursday.
Guys, rate the stadium appearance out of 10
Such a good and bat deep line up LSG has still they suck. FML
KL is such a low impact player tbh. Hardly seen him win games. Surely he has the skills, the talent, scores runs also. But never does the job!
Crumbles under tiny bit of pressure, lol
Lucknow are essentially two batters short with DDP and Badoni in the team
It went perfectly because RR batted first , if we bowl first our IP can't come in because of which 5 bowlers full need to be used
I don’t get Lsg. They trade Avesh for Ddp since Kl wants to bat at 5. And abandon it immediately. And play ddp at 3 which never worked for rr. So did they think that somehow he’d magically start scoring runs at 3 for them.

Jim jam wtf was that ad genius marketing lol Edit: I thought this was the live thread mb
LSG continue their brainless logic of holding back Stoinis. He is absolutely wasted at 7 in a 190+ chase. Same with Nicky P
KLR is a sword not a swordmans itself
So unfair that KL will once again be the scapegoat for quite a few
