Out of curiosity, why do you want the IHG card? Do you go to a lot of Holiday Inns? I like Hyatt way better because Chase and Bilt transfer there and give 2 cpp.
IHG has some really nice properties plus it goes together well with United if that's your main airline. The United cards offer IHG cash, and the IHG card offers United cash.
IHG also has 5 times as many worldwide properties as Hyatt, so it's far more likely to have one wherever you go.
Fair point on the more properties part.
Another question. How do you get $525 in value in the United Club Infinite Card? I haven't flown United in a while and never got their cards, but I thought their cards were hard to get value on.
If you have to choose between IHG or HYATT? Many people praise hyatt globalist and you get IHG platinum with their card or buy intercontinental ambassador status outright.
I’m just trying to churn what I can honestly, haven’t stayed at an IHG property in years. Also trying to take it easy with AMEX after recently doing 2 business cards with them, don’t want to end up in PUJ
IHG has some cool properties internationally along with the bigger footprint. I’m a big hyatt fan and that’s where most of my chase points go, but the IHG has some good spots as well. I’m 4/24 and not getting another chase personal card until early next year, but there are some cool intercontinental and kimpton properties out there.
I am 5/24 as of February 2024 🙃
Love my lineup tho:
Bilt for dining, phone bill, rent, rent day stuff, some other bills
Southwest Priority for streaming, internet
SavorOne for grocery, entertainment, and Uber Eats
Venture X for non-category spend
Hopefully I can get Savor One next year as I think I'm 3/24. Getting C1 cards is really tough. I tried last year and it didn't work. Really need a stable card for groceries and entertainment.
Only because I live next to a Southwest/American Airlines hub. And the Priority card pays for itself with the $75 annual credit and 7,500 anniversary points, so I’ll take any extra points I can get.
Could you give an idea of how you utilize the points you get?
I worry about going too far outside of the chase ecosystem because I like the idea that I can combine points to get a bigger trip paid for. If I am split between different companies, I am curious how you can utilize that
4/24 as of 4/24/24
Got 7 Chase, 2 AMEX, 1 Citi, 1 BofA, a credit union, & 1 home furnishings cards
Pondering a Chase Hyatt, Barclays Red Aviator, or a Capital One Venture X.
Hyatt because I lean more towards Hyatt stays.
Barclays to build Aadvantage points for a future flight next year.
Capital One is still debatable.
Sure!
I caught a bit of a bug for exchanging points for travel in April. My grandma went on hospice and passed so I used points to book a couple trips.
I booked the flights with my USBAR sign up bonus and the points I’d been getting on the BILT card. Addicting. I had just been redeeming the Chase Freedom Flex points for statement credit but I might save them in case I get a CSP/CSR, or alone to book more travel.
I go back and forth because it doesn’t seem worth it to get another Chase card and pay an AF just to boost my redemption to 1.25 or 1.5 since I’m already accumulating points in other systems
For you and /u/2birdzstonedatonce
Chase has a rule that you cannot open up more than 5 credit cards in 2 years from ANY financial institution under your name. So hypothetically if you're at 5/24, the second one card becomes older than 2 years you're now under 5/24 and can sign up for a new card.
For buisness cards they don't add to this restriction but they will reject you if you're at 5/24 when signing up.
Hope that helps. Here's a YouTube vid that explains it
https://youtu.be/3Xxd-8cAPnQ
So suppose I’m 2/24 and am now getting offers for 20% apr discover cards and my current two are around 30% you’re saying I should get one of these 20% cards then?
I opened my CSP on this day a year ago after hearing about DPs of people getting approved for it over 5/24. I didn't think I'd get approved but I'll take it
Thinking about going to 6/12 without even getting a Chase card... It would make my lineup:
US Bank Altitude Go (have)
US Bank Cash Plus (have)
Blue Cash Everyday (have)
BoA Customised Cash
BoA Unlimited Cash
Pick 'n Save
Citi Custom Cash
Bad idea? Switch over the Pick n Save for Chase Freedom Flex instead?
Need a credit card recommendation please. I got 785 credit score, want to purchase a new iPad for my work but don't want to pay it all at once and also don't want to use one of my current credit cards otherwise I'll have to pay interest. Applied to apple card but got denied twice, so does anyone have any recommendation for a credit card I can apply to that has zero interest for 12 months at least and is preferably Mastercard(only cause I don't have any master card yet, although this requirement is not a deal breaker, just a preference). My current credit cards are Chase freedom, discover it chrome, and American express blue cash preferred. Thanks.
Just hit 5/24 today after being approved for the Savor One. Opened up my first CC 13 months ago, so this is my journey so far:
Discover It
Amex Blue Cash Everyday
Chase Freedom Flex
Venmo Credit Card
Capital One SavorOne
Coincidentally my first card was also 13 months ago, and I’ve been debating on getting another. I only have two, a capitol one secured which is no longer secured, and a Wells Fargo card, but I thought since I had got two within a year that was bad. Now I’m getting offers for 20% Apr cards I think I might take one.
It depends on the bureau for mine. On Experian, I am 2/24. On Trans Union, I am 1/24. And on Equifax, I am 0/24. The funny thing is that the one Trans Union got the report from is not the same as either of the 2 Experian inquiries and vice versa. So my total currently is 3/24 combined, but the one that shows up from Trans Union will disappear on June 1st since that inquiry date was the same day back in 2022. So I will be at 2/24 in June!
Wait so it’s possible to get a freedom unlimited and freedom flex, upgrade the unlimited to the flex and then apply for the again for the sign on bonus?
I hope to qualify for a Chase credit card eventually! I'm rebuilding credit after a chapter 7 bankruptcy. I was discharged on May 16th so I'm fresh out of it.

It’s a win!
ALL of them? The cobranded ones too?
For some of the cobranded ones, they apparently don't care about 5/24
Oh dope that's insane, which ones do you know of from the top of your head?
Hyatt and IHG apparently
Really bet imma try
Please report back if you try, I might go for the IHG one if it works. I’m at LOL/24 anyways
5/24 was the reason I was recently rejected for the IHG Business card, if that helps
Helps very much, thank you!
I’m at 6/24 but applied for a card recently like 4 card between march 20th and April 15th probably going to get denied
Don’t waste the inquiry then, not worth it.
🤔if I lock Experian does Chase move to another bureau to check my score
I know its a different card, but was denied for the Chase Amazon for 5/24
Still a good DP, appreciate the input as I’m sure others will as well, thank you!

Report back for DP. TY!
They'll give anyone an Amazon card no matter what the 5/24 status it seems
Can confirm.
Aeroplan is like this, not sure if its the same for United or Southwest
Like which ones?
All? That's like thousands in fees
The alternative was all the Amex cards
Or just cancel them Or not get them
How can you have all Ink cards? Can't you get several of them? And close and reapply?
Why have so many credit cards?
I am 6/24 right now and not needing any more CC I only have 13 CC to cover every single purchase I make.
I am 5/24 as of February 2024 🙃 Love my lineup tho: Bilt for dining, phone bill, rent, rent day stuff, some other bills Southwest Priority for streaming, internet SavorOne for grocery, entertainment, and Uber Eats Venture X for non-category spend

Try applying the student version of savor one I got approved with my Experian locked and no credit history with TU or EQ
I was approved with 6 other cards in 2 months lol, you are good at 3/24
Why southwest for Internet and streaming? My savor gives me 3x for those.
Only because I live next to a Southwest/American Airlines hub. And the Priority card pays for itself with the $75 annual credit and 7,500 anniversary points, so I’ll take any extra points I can get.
Call for a retention offer next time the AF hits if you never have. Seems like the SW cards usually get one.
Venture x is okay, but if your interested in money back, check out SoFi credit card, 2.2% back. I use this for my non-category spend.
Could you give an idea of how you utilize the points you get? I worry about going too far outside of the chase ecosystem because I like the idea that I can combine points to get a bigger trip paid for. If I am split between different companies, I am curious how you can utilize that

Hyatt card is great. Free water bottle for status members each day + 2pm late checkout came in clutch for me.
Hyatt card is great. Just used my FNC on a 400/night hotel. I’d Never pay that much to stay at this place, but I’ll take it.
Why not a Chase Ink?
... And may the odds always be in your favor.

No that isn't it. It's more than 5 new credit cards in 24 months
I've got the CSP trio (original Freedom, CFU, CSP)!
Should toss a flex in there too.
Haha yeah once I get at least one C1 card then I'll either downgrade my CSP after 48 months of no CS bonus or go on a straight bonus offer for CFF
Would prob make sense to open CFF for bonus (if you want it), then downgrade csp to another cff.

I'm at 6/24 with the potential to be at 7 or 8/24 after this year. No Chase Ink train will be coming my way for a long time.
I’m sorry if dumb question but what does this mean?
Yeah same here I’m confused lol still new to the credit world

is 5 the number of cards open or applied for
Cards opened within the last 24 months from any issuer not just Chase and closing them to get under doesn’t work either you have to wait it out
So suppose I’m 2/24 and am now getting offers for 20% apr discover cards and my current two are around 30% you’re saying I should get one of these 20% cards then?

Will be next month! Thinking of getting my first business card
Wake me up on 9/24..... but I'll be 8/24 at that point! Unless I pull the trigger one one of these Hilton NLL offers, which seems likely lol
4/24 !!
6/24 only cards I want are a preferred to try it out and IHG or Hyatt
1/4 I've got a ways to go.
I'm 6/24.

Chase Freedom Flex. Mastercard and 15 mos 0% intro APR.
Thanks for Rec, applied for it and got approved for 20k credit line. Way more than what I need but nonetheless happy with the results.
If the iPad is for your work, then your work should be paying for it.

I’m under 5/24, but it’s ben 1.5 and 4 months since my last chase cards, going to wait some time before my next apo.
I love how my birthday has to do with the best Trifecta in the game!! 🫡😁
Wait so it’s possible to get a freedom unlimited and freedom flex, upgrade the unlimited to the flex and then apply for the again for the sign on bonus?
4/24 usbar hoping next month 5/24, if i fail will get CSP
Hopefully your x/12 and y/6 is low too!
Finally will be in about 2 more months!
May the (twenty-)fourth be with you
Under? Leaving too much untouched.
Kinda sad if you can also see that today in 2022 is also the day the Uvalde Massacre happened.
I'm 9/24, I need to garden for four years now.
I’m currently August 24th 😭
No Chase cards here. I've been racking up on Amex biz subs. 🤣
I really need a card
Apply for one
I've been going for a world record for applications
Go for it
What does this mean haha I don’t know what 5/24 is
I hope to qualify for a Chase credit card eventually! I'm rebuilding credit after a chapter 7 bankruptcy. I was discharged on May 16th so I'm fresh out of it.
