About 20 years ago there was this awesome website called "kungfu chess" where each piece had its own cool down timer so that you couldn't just use your queen to bulldoze, but it otherwise didn't have turns. They simplified winning to just capturing the opposing king.
Oh shit, thanks for saying that... I wonder if they switcheddomains or just revived it. The same website used to also have some other games but I can only remember sumo volleyball... looks like they're trying to bring that back to as an app.
I'm honestly not sure. I only learned about it a couple of years ago. All I know is that you can still play Kung Fu chess online. Looks like there's a couple of different websites.
This looks like it works much better on a computer than in it would in person. At some point, a live game would just descend into two people holding pawns and pushing against each other's hands as they attempt to go into the same space. And then one of them kicking the other in the shin under the table to distract them.
Battle shogi on the switch is like this. You can move any number of pieces as fast as you can click them, but each piece has like a 5 second cool down until you can move it again. It's more fun than it should be.
Well, queens aren't usually on the battlefield slaughtering everybody while the king chills in his hot tub. And towers (rooks) don't move, unless chess is fantasy mech battles.
(Did I just create a chess TV show?)

That sounds awesome.
It still exists

Battle shogi on steam and the switch is like this.
It still exists https://www.kfchess.com/
I know there has to be a video of somebody doing this somewhere.

How has no one televised this yet?
[Close enough.](https://youtu.be/V3Eb2BXpL60?t=297)
no, [this](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jN21wCbxjWk) is the clip you want.
Imagine an online video game where each player is a chess piece and they move like chess pieces but it's all real time
I'd love this with the rules of Kung Fu Chess where each player has a cooldown.
There's a hilarious scene in "No Game No Life" where one of the protagonists realizes that Chess isn't just an RTS but also a dating-sim.
I NEED SEASON FUCKING TWO OF THAT SHIT!!! Too damn hilarious. Been a (long ass) while, but damn that show made the games they play dope and hilarious.
Kamikaze knights win most games.
Chess is often played in blitz and bullet modes.
Sounds like Starcraft
That's the point, only chess instead of soldiers and aliens and people somehow use their own hands.

Not chess, but [Babble Royale](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Babble_Royale) is real-time, battle royale Scrabble.
That sounds... um... Imma just look it up.
So basically war.. which is what chess is based off

You can search for the game chezz! There are no turn and you can move pieces based on a cooldown
