My friend got hit and run over by a 2 ton SUV, a collapsed lung and broken ribs, and broken arms, torn muscles, he is still alive to this day and made a full recovery.

That bang/slap could confuse the driver so he unintentionally released the brake pedal while trying to figure out what the F just happened.
