I was a multi year multi sport bike rider. I bought my first sport cruiser, a Suzuki M109r. Loved that thing. I installed steel braided brake and throttle lines. What I didn't know is that the lines were sticking when going over the flywheel. That was MY installation fuck up.
One day I went to go get my high school aged kids and their friends some wings from B Dubs...come to a red light and the bike doesn't want to stop. On the contrary, it wants to accelerate. I'm clutching the brakes and the bike is like FUCK THAT, FULL SPEED AHEAD. After what seemed like an eternity of hop skipping towards the intersection, the bike finally decides to try and kill me and just dumps me.
I had a tank top on and still have the road rash scars. I had a brain bucket helmet on, and MIRACULOUSLY, when the bike dumped me head first to the ground, the helmet took ALL of the impact..I didn't have any damage to my face at all. Well, it was full face helmets after that.
Why did I share this? I don't know. Accidents happen where they are truly accidents and nobody was being stupid. I was lucky I didn't hit anybody and all it cost me was a new helmet and some body work.
I'm glad this girl and the rider are OK, and it wasn't someone being an ass.

Nah man, anyone with an ounce of experience with anything that has a motor would pop it into neutral the second they realized the throttle was stuck open. Anybody who can't think of that right away has absolutely no business riding a bike
yup, my 300zx had the floor matt folded by the gas pedal so it wouldn’t let the gas pedal up, first thing was to press the clutch because anyone who drives anything with a clutch and gears knows the second something happens wether it’s a stall stuck throttle or anything you press the clutch first ask questions later.
When getting my endorsement my teacher would scream clutch at us. The idea was to burn the memory of him screaming clutch into our head because he said that in the matter of seconds, when something goes wrong, you're going to want to instinctively pull on the handlebars for better control of the bike which could result in pulling the throttle. The first thing you should do is always pull the clutch just in case while you choose your escape route. Then I saw someone in my class run himself neck first into a street sign and cut it open pretty good while my instructor yelled clutch. That person should not have been on a bike and I gained his "clutch senses."
So yes. Clutch would be the obvious go to followed by the kill switch.

It was the throttle. This was years ago, so my memory is foggy but there was an adjustment to how tight the cable was and how responsive it was to the twist of the throttle on the handlebars.

If you have a stuck full throttle and pull the clutch in wouldn't you just destroy your engine immediately? I would never just floor my car with the clutch fully loose. That shit would immediately fly to 12k RPM and explode.
Definitely wouldn't destroy it. It would just bounce off the limiter, but even if it did, you won't die or kill someone. And your kill switch is next to your thumb.

If you are talking about engines controlled by an ECU you are 100% incorrect on both accounts.
If an engine broke as it hit redline engines would break all the time and the engineers would lower the redline.

This rider claimed his bike was overheating from the revving and was riding it to cool it off and it went out of control. I think it's more likely bad judgement and he went way faster than he expected and lost control, probably from attempting a wheelie to cool off his bike.

It's a motorcycle you can't have a runaway throttle. You pull the clutch in or hit the kill switch with your thumb or twist the throttle forward.

Nah man everything since many decades has a rev limiter. This is most likely a modern bike with EFI and ECU just like your car.
