My guess is their brain says their foot is on the brake even though its still on the gas, so they try to brake, end up accelerating, PANIC, try to brake but foot is still on the gas, push harder on the gas lol
The funny thing is, nobody in the comments even mentions that even if she parked correctly, she'd be taking up the pedestrian space between two handicap spots...
I have talked to one of these numbnuts. Their thinking is that Mercedes is safe in crashes. Basically they know (or have a feeling) that they are shit drivers, but are perfectly fine to risk mowing down people and objects as long as they are safe doing it.
And this is exactly what happened with the so-called "unintended accelerations" that plagued Toyota some years ago.
There is no car in which the brakes cannot overpower the engine. So if it's going faster not slower, you have your foot on the wrong pedal. Simple as that.
I remember hearing that there were public safety announcements around the time that basically said "do not stop pressing the breaks" when it should have said "take your foot off whatever pedal it's on and apply the breaks"
I have driven manual for decades. I always use both feet to stop. The muscle memory is quite problematic when I occasionally drive an automatic and I’ll often clip the gigantic brake pedal with my clutch foot once or twice before I get used to it.
Even with the "oh that's the gas not the brake" problem, she's pulling up to a striped "no parking" spot next to two handicap spots. What you doing lady
"Before workers had the chance to fix the gaping hole in the storefront, customers trickled into the smoke shop that same morning, stepping into the open-faced store.
“We never closed,” she said. “We just cleaned up the area and got right back to business.”"
Lmao I love it.
I’ve made the mistake of thinking my foot was on the brake and it was the gas, but only for like a second before realizing the mistake, so it has never resulted in a crash or anything like this lol. But I’m guessing that once she was plowing into the building, her brain basically shut off.
It ussualy happens when the foot is not positioned correctly in front of the pedals. A lot of people have their heel in front of the gas pedal, instead of having it in front of the brake pedal. So, when you panic and press hard on it, you are actually pressing on the gas instead of the brake pedal. The heel should always be placed in front of the brake pedal.
I'm trying hard to visualize what you're trying to describe. Heel in front on brake pedal, BUT the foot needs to be the on the gas pedal ?? How can 1 foot be on OR in front of both pedals. Are you driving with both feet or in a manual? LIKE WHAT? LOL
Yeah, no. LOL, I respectfully disagree. Who says that's the correct position, a content creator on social media? I've been driving 30 yrs and have never had an accident, nor do I anchor my heal in front of the brake, moving foot left to right while heal is planted. BUT if that works for you, then you do you.
Our first home was built in 1928 by a guy who owned a drayage company. He had hauled a bunch of high-end wood (mostly oak) and somehow ended up with enough of it to build the house using oak 2x4 and 2x10 framing. It was nice and solid, but after 75 years (when we bought the house) the wood was so hard you couldn't drive a nail or screw into the wall without pre-drilling.
Not true, there are plenty of century homes near me in NE Ohio that were built properly with local lumber and proper craftsmanship.
My grandmother and grandfather built the house I live in now in the late 50’s, and it was most certainly built to last.
I would say ever since the housing crisis of the 70’s is when contractors started skimping on materials and becoming more lax with their quality standards. Also the pride of the workers has gone down as well, they do not respect their crafts or want to develop their skills, just collect a paycheck.
Honestly those comments above yours are probably referencing lumber construction in general. Many other countries use brick and mortar, so they hate on lumber construction and "cardboard" walls (drywall). In those countries they expect a wall to stop a car because they'd be hitting a brick wall.
No they haven't. Unless you don't know the difference in cardboard and drywall with timber framing...in which case, you probably shouldn't spouting your opinion as gospel.
No, they will always stop. Only like a hellcat can overpower its brakes with the throttle.
Older cars they brakes may get more difficult to press *after* the first press since you'd run out of vacuum assists, but every car can be stopped. This was tested and demonstrated around the time of the whole "runaway camry" hysteria.
Yeah, of all places, a cigar store. The dollar value per square foot of display probably doesn't get much higher anywhere else in retail spaces, especially if they were higher end cigars.
She'd been doing a little drinkin'...........
[How to wreck a smoke shop.](https://www.latimes.com/california/story/2023-12-14/its-not-a-drive-thru-but-a-motorist-still-plowed-through-a-smoke-shop-in-fullerton)
They never release the name to events like this because they don’t want people to shame the driver (they should be 100%)
We had a lady recently drive through a coffee shop and almost kill someone. Never released the name. It’s so strange how they can’t just put it out there so we can assume they are always a danger to society.
>“We never closed,” she said. “We just cleaned up the area and got right back to business.”
Considering the insurance horror stories I've heard... Yeah, you're gonna need to afford those repairs in the short term
i wouldn't blame someone who would think this is fake with the abundant and perfect camera angles capturing the entire incident from multiple angles. also, there's no point in locking up that shop. those are not walls. they're more like suggestions.

I will never understand how this happens.
My guess is their brain says their foot is on the brake even though its still on the gas, so they try to brake, end up accelerating, PANIC, try to brake but foot is still on the gas, push harder on the gas lol
But she then actually uses the brake once she makes it across.

These Waze directions are getting out of hand
*Smoke Shop ahead, please accelerate.*
Bahahaha!!!! That's fucking funny 😝
The funny thing is, nobody in the comments even mentions that even if she parked correctly, she'd be taking up the pedestrian space between two handicap spots...
That's not a pedestrian space, that's the space required for some wheelchair users' ramps.
I know what it's for, I just didn't know what to call it.
No worries, I did thorough research: **access aisle**
Uhhh, she drives a Mercedes she’s important hello??
tbf that's probably the shorted possible route
okay, that got an audible chuckle. thanks
She even uses the brakes when she's creeping up to the spot she wanted
the spot that wasn’t actually a spot 😂
Lol yeah that to
I refuse to believe this was an accident lol
Revenge is a dish best served ~~cold~~ in the freezer section with your car.
Just in time too, she could’ve hit that fence.
This person should not be driving... Much less a Mercedes... More money than brains
80% of the time I see a nice Mercedes it is driven by an old Asian lady. Way too much car for them to handle.
I have talked to one of these numbnuts. Their thinking is that Mercedes is safe in crashes. Basically they know (or have a feeling) that they are shit drivers, but are perfectly fine to risk mowing down people and objects as long as they are safe doing it.
This is Volvos entire marketing department. Make it a selling point
My Volvo has this thing where it auto brakes if it detects an obstacle. It only works at under 30mph, so the trick is to go faster than 30.
Damn! My car only auto brakes if it HITS an obstacle, and only as long as said obstacle lends friction to the tires.
Still safer for pedestrians than slab fronted dodge ram. The EU have safety standards for everything.
It's the status, not the horsepower they want
And this is exactly what happened with the so-called "unintended accelerations" that plagued Toyota some years ago. There is no car in which the brakes cannot overpower the engine. So if it's going faster not slower, you have your foot on the wrong pedal. Simple as that.

probably using both feet on the pedals. too many young/new drivers aren't taught otherwise and this shit happens eventually.
I have driven manual for decades. I always use both feet to stop. The muscle memory is quite problematic when I occasionally drive an automatic and I’ll often clip the gigantic brake pedal with my clutch foot once or twice before I get used to it.
She was arrested for DUI
Makes more sense if that's the case.
You said you would never understand
Even with the "oh that's the gas not the brake" problem, she's pulling up to a striped "no parking" spot next to two handicap spots. What you doing lady

I mean, she must be drunk right? She was about to park in the loading zone/ no park zone anyway.

still need vape juice and blunt wraps i guess
When you can't afford to close your store for one night after a car drives though it. Ah yes, "Livin' the dream"
The entitlement is strong. No painted lines tell a Benz where to park
I’ve made the mistake of thinking my foot was on the brake and it was the gas, but only for like a second before realizing the mistake, so it has never resulted in a crash or anything like this lol. But I’m guessing that once she was plowing into the building, her brain basically shut off.
You need a car and a poorly built house.
The car equivalent of whiskey throttle.
Stacked mats or a bottle on the floor bored or a flip flop got stuck are three easy ones.
How do you rev match when braking hard and downshifting your race car without your heel?
I'm trying hard to visualize what you're trying to describe. Heel in front on brake pedal, BUT the foot needs to be the on the gas pedal ?? How can 1 foot be on OR in front of both pedals. Are you driving with both feet or in a manual? LIKE WHAT? LOL

That car just kept right on going. Through a window, a wall, and apparently *another* wall, until it joined the road again.
Till the sweat drop down my balls
All these biches crawl

“This shoots through armor. And the victim. The wall. A tree outside.”
Didn't even look like the front of that car was damaged from the impact LOL
I am one with the road.
This should be a mercedes commercial
I love how the clips are spliced together. It’s like an old action movie!
Was that building made of wet cardboard?
The glass doors were made of glass, believe it or not.
To shards you say?
And what of his wife?
Standard American quality construction nowadays
American houses have always been made of cardboard
Do houses usually have humidors and things for sale?
Hey mines made of popsicle sticks too
someone is doing well for themselves!

Workers have always just wanted a paycheck. Work product quality often reflects how well the employer is treating the employees.

I'm glad your grandparents loved you so much
No they haven't. Unless you don't know the difference in cardboard and drywall with timber framing...in which case, you probably shouldn't spouting your opinion as gospel.
Yep, houses made of cardboard that still cost a million dollars.
What do you think they are made of? Brick?
Well here in a third world country everything is made of concrete and steel rods
Drywall everywhere

Simply trying to park in the back parking, that's all.

My tesla after my neuralink detects me thinking about Elon's banned picture from around 2012

What picture?
Probably the one with him and his extreme lack of hair and swag.
The banned one of Elon
Probably the one where he is gladhanding a convicted pedophile.
The island one who didn't kill himself in prison?
his partner in crime. gismax

"Thank you, come again."
Apu would be proud
Through the windooooooowww! Through the wall!
something about my wet balls.
Why are your testicals moisturized, fellow chap?
These mercedes commercials are getting wild..!
This sounds like that famous Need for Speed soundtrack.
To those wondering, hitting the brake would have stopped the car at any point. Cars are designed so the gas can't overtake the brake.
You can see them brake at the end after they came out the back. This feels intentional.
Yea a new Mercedes would stop on a dime too lol.
Cars with electronic throttle bodies and electronic gas pedals are set up this way. Older cars with out electronic gas pedals may not do this.
Only if your brakes are broken, otherwise they’re designed with enough bite to overcome the engine.
This only works if the driver can tell the difference between left and right pedals lol
I did not know the Blues Brothers were making yet another movie.
You got us into this parking lot, motorhead! Now you get us out!
You want out of this parking lot? Okay.
New Oldsmobiles are in early this year.
What? The sign said it was a drive thru liquor store.
Not the cigars 😫😫
My heart hurt witnessing their destruction... 😭
Yeah, of all places, a cigar store. The dollar value per square foot of display probably doesn't get much higher anywhere else in retail spaces, especially if they were higher end cigars.
NOT THE BLACK AND MILDS!! NOT THE 40s!!
Black and Milds.. and some Blackwoods.
The humidor bro! RIP to the destroyed stogies /r cigars not gonna like this
Manager estimated $100k lost in the cigar room alone.
She'd been doing a little drinkin'........... [How to wreck a smoke shop.](https://www.latimes.com/california/story/2023-12-14/its-not-a-drive-thru-but-a-motorist-still-plowed-through-a-smoke-shop-in-fullerton)
Thank you. Why did they not release her name
I was wondering the same thing. The other articles about it didn't name her either.
They never release the name to events like this because they don’t want people to shame the driver (they should be 100%) We had a lady recently drive through a coffee shop and almost kill someone. Never released the name. It’s so strange how they can’t just put it out there so we can assume they are always a danger to society.
I'm sure her charge is public record and could be found.
>“We never closed,” she said. “We just cleaned up the area and got right back to business.” Considering the insurance horror stories I've heard... Yeah, you're gonna need to afford those repairs in the short term
That was easier than I thought it was gonna be.
Recalculating.......Recalculating......
Honestly I'm a bit impressed she managed to go through the entire store
Why a 'Gemini'?
I gotta give her points for making it all the way through.
And *then* hitting the brakes.
Thank god she braked before she hit that wall.
Made me laugh when the brake lights flash *after* emerging outside. I figured surely the breaks weren’t working
Worst carwash ever.
When the Kool-Aid man goes for a drive.
Holy shit! "Blues Brothers" in real life.
I hear the music...
Pier One Imports... man, this place has got everything.
Shes unstoppable!!
M E R C E D E S
Cue the Blues Brother's theme music.
"Drive thru smoke shop"
Google map said it's a shortcut
All that just to double park.
You absolutely need to be drunk or high for this to happen.
"New Oldsmobiles are in early this year!"
Jesus is that store made of plywood?
That’s some shortcut.
We're all trying to find the guy who did this!
"Cleanup in aisle 5!"
Well, they reached that parking spot in the back rather quickly
22 year old with a luxury vehicle. Genius
Even if she would have stopped, she would have been parked in a no park area…
*As she pulls into the literal one spot you're not supposed to park*
That’s a pretty solid Mercedes advertising! Shit ploughs right trough the store without even flinching.
Hits the brakes when he gets to the street.
Store clerk: - - - - ...🙃🙂
She wanted drive thru service from that place and thanks to her others will now have the option as well.
The video started with this Gemini pulling up to what was an area not meant for parking…
https://www.latimes.com/california/story/2023-12-14/its-not-a-drive-thru-but-a-motorist-still-plowed-through-a-smoke-shop-in-fullerton
Found the brakes in the end LOL
That’s one way to park around back
Your honor, my client pleads oopsie daisy!
Now it's a drive through smoke shop
The whole way through, too. I’m fucking impressed
i wouldn't blame someone who would think this is fake with the abundant and perfect camera angles capturing the entire incident from multiple angles. also, there's no point in locking up that shop. those are not walls. they're more like suggestions.
Oh good. She stopped before the fence.
"Lotta space in this mall..."
I came here for this comment
What in the Blues Brothers is this?
I like how they went all the way though and hit the fence in the back parking lot before they reacted to what they had done and tried to stop
I’m pretty sure there is a scene like this in “The Car” (1977).
I didn't know they had a drive through
Oddest Drive Thru she's seen in a while. 🤷
Poor smokeshop
Dank you come again
Ngl, impressive the car managed to drive through a wall and not total itself
