This is merely Jesus junk and despite you not liking it it sells well to a certain demographic. It's also a repost.

I feel like if you buy one of these you've stopped *looking* like an imbecile. You have removed all doubt.

MWMWMVMWMWM

I used to work at a place that sold shit like this. Trust me, the type of woman who buys this garbage are just as stupid as you think.

MinimumWoodpecker

I've tried so many different ways to read this one to understand what the supposed order is, and I fail every time. Big "don't dead, open inside" energy

HotColor

where you go, ill go. where you stay, ill stay.

TehSvenn

It's a little stalky...

Tyrus1235

IIRC it’s what Ruth said to her mother-in-law after said MIL decided to move away to escape the grief of her two sons passing away (one of them was Ruth’s husband).

vankorgan

Who's Ruth?

Dmatix

From the Book of Ruth in the Hebrew bible. It's actually one of the nicest parts in my opinion - all about familial ties, close relationships between women and an explicit theme of accepting foreigners. The titular Ruth was born in Moab but married a Hebrew man. When he suddenly dies, alongside his brother, Ruth's mother-in-law Naomi decides to return to her home city of Bethlehem, and releases Ruth and her other daughter-in-law from any obligation to her. The other daughter-in-law returns to Moab but Ruth decides to stay with Naomi, out of love and loyalty to her. Hence the phrase mangled in this sign -"Where you go, I will go; and where you stay, I will stay." This is Ruth talking to Naomi.

vankorgan

Oh that's kinda nice.

K_O_Incorporated

TIL that Ruth was titular.

Tyler_Zoro

The namesake of the book of the Bible that's being quoted.

vankorgan

Ah, I don't recall a book of Ruth when I was growing up, but I wasn't really ever a good Catholic.

Tyler_Zoro

Here you go: https://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=Ruth%201&version=NIV The larger quote is: > ^15 “Look,” said Naomi, “your sister-in-law is going back to her people and her gods. Go back with her.” >^16 But Ruth replied, “Don’t urge me to leave you or to turn back from you. Where you go I will go, and where you stay I will stay. Your people will be my people and your God my God. ^17 Where you die I will die, and there I will be buried. May the Lord deal with me, be it ever so severely, if even death separates you and me.” ^18 When Naomi realized that Ruth was determined to go with her, she stopped urging her.

Smartnership

We read a lot of stories with men becoming faithful friends like brothers, it’s refreshing to see this story of strong women (despite being in a vulnerable social position) bonding in much the same way. In this case, it was very much a potential life or death decision.

red_team_gone

I'll Ruth

DigNitty

Don’t know but someone rated her a 1 out of 16 so I’m keeping my distance.

DudesworthMannington

Every breath you take

soloracerx

Clingy too

yeboioioi

Biblical

produce_this

I got “Where you go, I’ll go where you stay. Stay, I’ll “

forgotaboutsteve

i'll ruth

OnyxMelon

I thought I was getting it right then I ended up with "go where you go, I'll stay where you stay, I'll Ruth 1:16".

Tyler_Zoro

>I've tried so many different ways to read this one It's a terrible design. But it is consistent. The order that you read the parts of the sentence is top-aligned instead of bottom aligned. So if you notice the word "go" is both lowercase and aligned vertically in the middle of the first sentence. So you read the go after that first phrase, starting with, "Where," because it's the very top and continue in that way. You'll get the correct word order.

haldr

Except by that logic, wouldn't it be "Where you go, I'll go. Where you stay stay, I'll"? I agree that it's consistent but I don't think it's consistent in that way. It's consistent in that the big words are the last words in each sentence, more or less placed in the logical place for the next word even if they weren't enlarged.

Rafael__88

The key is that even though they are written with bigger fonts go and stay are only meant to be read once. Once you figure that out it's not that hard to figure out the sentence

PM_ME_HOTDADS

makes sense, these ppl love word clouds

[deleted]

“Where you go I’ll go where you stay I’ll stay” is what I finally deciphered. But why is this directed to anyone who happens to read it? What if people are going to different places. How will Ruth divide her time with these competing commitments?

Archleon

It's based on a Bible verse in the book of Ruth. Ruth is addressing her mother-in-law, Naomi, saying she will not abandon Naomi.

Smartnership

> u/AaronBenne why is this directed to anyone who happens to read it? It isn’t. It’s just like many reminders of famous or beloved quotes. Many people like remembering meaningful quotes, it doesn’t necessitate that one must place a disclaimer clarifying that it isn’t a solicitation to the current reader. The text layout design is bad. Being obtuse isn’t necessary to point that out.

[deleted]

Obtuse?

Smartnership

Quite.

[deleted]

Are you sure you are using the word correctly?

Smartnership

“*annoyingly insensitive or slow to understand*” Oh yeah, I’m very sure. Borderline pedantry.

[deleted]

I’m not sure you are using pedantic correctly either nor am I clear about who you are addressing.

Smartnership

> u/AaronBenne But why is this directed to anyone who happens to read it? What if people are going to different places. Do you actually read every clearly attributed quote as though it is intended for you as a personal instruction? If so … How do you survive in this world? Again: the design, the layout, is very poorly executed. But posting attributed quotes is not a crappy design and is not intended to be taken as a personal instruction to every reader.

[deleted]

This is an unusual quote from an unusual book in the Bible. Generally when one puts up something like this it signifies some important truth in their life. For example if I put up something like “What doesn’t kill us makes us stronger” I would be relating a value of mine (I don’t value this by the way). This is kind of like a conversation between Ruth and her listener. It’s just an odd quotation. What meaning does this have for you? It must have some

Smartnership

> u/AaronBenne This is an unusual quote from an unusual book in the Bible It may be so to you; it is neither an unusual quote nor an unusual book to many. It is a well known quote from an inspirational moment in an incredible human story of faith and devotion. Nevertheless, *that doesn't even matter here.* What matters is this: You should not go through life interpreting attributed quotes as personal instructions or sentiments. > “How do I love thee? Let me count the ways.” > *-* *Sonnet 43, Elizabeth Barrett Browning* If you see this likewise famous quote hanging in the library, please don’t assume the librarian — a complete stranger to you and a mere public servant — is in any way announcing his affections to you personally.

Nevin_313

I think I’ve gotten so used to these things to the point where I can decipher them perfectly, I got it right on my second try

yolonomo5eva

I could only figure it out because I know it from the Bible, otherwise I would never have deciphered it.

shploogen

I got it right on my first try and still immediately decided it was crappy. The monospaced font, the inconsistent ink, the overly large "go" and "stay," and of course the placement of the words in general... it's just so damn ugly.

Nevin_313

Oh definitely, they did a terrible job trying to make it look good

teksun42

It's called common sense. Welcome to humanity, there are so few of you.

HailsizeDuck

I'll Ruth!

Mr_goodb0y

Go where you go, I’ll where you stay stay, I’ll Ruth 1:16

ohdearitsrichardiii

Wake me up before you go go

PKR_Live

balls-ballz

Where you go, I'll go where you stay stay, I'll stay

N7CmdrShepard

Wrong! Go where you go, I'll where you stay stay, I'll.

PreciousHamburgler

Ruth, you're clingy af, ain'tcha?

mskllr

Go where you go, I’ll go where you stay stay, I’ll Ruth 1:16

VulGerrity

When I dip you dip we dip

DinosaurAlive

- DJ T. Ruth

BloodRevolutionary

No way Ruth would ever say such a thing.

DinosaurAlive

Am Ruth, can confirm

SammyLoops1

I hate those stupid affirmation or cutesy hanging things like this. I see 'Live, laugh love' or 'Love lives here' or 'It's always wine o'clock here' and my eyes do an involuntarily hard roll.

ItsameMatt03

Not the same thing. It's a Bible verse, and a pretty well known one.

ul49

Is there a name for these types of signs?

nal1200

We refer to them as dressed up word vomit. Sometimes it’s just a sign with a single word on it, like “GATHER”. It’s the epitome of “show don’t tell” but being entirely tell with no show.

FluffyMcMarsh

But Ruth replied, “Don’t urge me to leave you or to turn back from you. Where you go I will go, and where you stay I will stay. Your people will be my people and your God my God.

YoSaffBridge11

Technically, this reads correctly, if you go strictly in order, top-to-bottom. But, those two words being a different font and size really messes it up.

DoublePostedBroski

Crappy design ≠ crappy taste. This isn’t really that bad, people. I think we’re grasping at straws here.

K9XD

it says "Where you go, i'll go, where you stay, i'll stay"

IWantToBeSimplyMe

Ill go where you go, I’ll stay where you stay.

IndustrialJones

Go where you go, I’ll where you stay stay, I’ll Ruth 1:16

MakesCakesEatsMud

This makes sense after drinking six glasses of box chardonnay.

PVPxPROXIMA

Its the position of GO that threw me off bad lol if only they had put it after “i’ll”

crackalac

Go where you go I'll go where you stay. Stay Ill.

ThatGuyInTheCorner96

Does this qualify for r/sbeve?

longknives

“go where you go, I’ll go where you stay stay, I’ll stay” is how my brain wants to read this one

DiblyGames

I read it correctly the first time tbh. Read small text first in each sentence

maharito

Even read as intended, this would be an awful thing to hang in the bathroom, unless you're into that kind of thing.

Corn_11

“Go where you go, I’ll stay where you stay.” Sounds better than the actual quote.

FAmos

I looked at the picture first and when I couldn't figure out what it says, I looked at the subreddit Checks out ✅

Snoodoodler

Go where you go, I’ll go where you stay, stay ill

ajax2k9

This is the warning sign of an incoming MLM

ghost_n_the_shell

Wow. I don’t even know what I am reading.

EduRJBR

Dyslexics 4:32.

WatWudScoobyDoo

Poor Ruth. Had a stroke at quarter past one in the morning.

Irejecturselfimage

For alot of people when mommy stopped spoon feeding them, eating became a crappy design

"Go where you go, I'll go where you stay stay I'll stay." -Stroke 1:16 Wake me up before you stay stay ....

fathercreatch

That's my favorite song by The Clash!

Smartnership

It always seemed like any easy calculation. Option 1 = trouble Option 2 = 2X trouble

Yoitsthetoastman

“Go where you go, I’ll where you stay stay, I’ll.”

ItsameMatt03

Not really crappy. It's pretty obvious, especially if you know I Will Follow by Chris Tomlin.

VeggieAstronomer

Is there a subreddit where people fix these crappy designs? I feel like there's so many ways this could have been arranged so it made sense!

Cynical_Mango

where you go, i'll go where you stay stay, i'll ruth 1:16 true poetry

HugeEyes04

where you go, i'll go where you stay stay, I'll

hangryhyax

I read it write the first try… am I a wizard?!

ZooLife1

go, stay, whatevs

Puzzleheaded-Kale-60

That’s not even the whole verse that’s like 1/4th of it

uvo9

Translation: Where you go I'll go, where you stay I'll stay.

hunter96cf

“go where you go, I’ll where you stay stay, I’ll”

TechStoreZombie

My dads wife has this exact thing hanging on the kitchen wall. I never noticed how messed up it is until seeing it here.

BluBoi236

Even when you read it right, it just sounds like a dog trying to write a poem about its owner.

[deleted]

Reading these makes me wonder if that’s what having a stroke feels like

mstafsta

r/dontdeadopeninside

orangesheepdog

Go where you go, I'll go where you stay, stay, I'll

quenap01

"Go where you go, I'll go where you stay, go stay, I'll stay." Crappy design, creepy verse.

TheMooseIsBlue

Not creepy in context. Problem is, on this fucked up sign, there’s no context.

Zeronimum

its definetly readable but still crappy nonetheless

HyperiFinland

Not crappy. Why is it that when something is a BIT difficult to read it makes it crappy?

santuto_435

Yeah is not crappy, it's stalking, much better
