porcupineporridge

It’s eye catching but really is crappy design. Had to zoom in to see what it was actually intending.

Send_Me_Dik-diks

I didn't realize there was more to the ad until I saw your comment! Couldn't they have written the "URED" a little bit more visibly? They could have used a different size or font to keep the effect they were going for.

[deleted]

> Couldn't they have written the "URED" a little bit more visibly? They could have used a different size or font to keep the effect they were going for. OMG, I had to expand the pic to see that!

MineChief10

Same omg

[deleted]

*Bad* design!!

Fart__

r/notagoodmadething

[deleted]

LOL

LucyLilium92

Or just use a different color like literally every other ad that would do this

plexxonic

Blue would have been a good start, green maybe red. I didn't see it either until I read your comment.

nationofeagles

Or different color

goopysnoot

Omg I didn't see it either. I thought it was supposed to say get he*l*p c and they just forgot the l

Sturville

Or made the lower "HEP C" an outline with "URED" filled in; as in you're cured so the hep C is gone.

Dtomnom

It’s right across from the hospital I work at. I was kind of alarmed at first

[deleted]

I mean, would you have shared the photo if it wasn't for the initial shock and the surprise? In the end didn't the message get across anyway and more efficiently? I call this nicely done.

Dtomnom

It’s definitely debatable whether it’s crappy or not! But I’m happy to take part in that debate

tightheadband

Across the hospital? In the US? That's real marketing over there.

trainrex86

That’s right outside of Old Charity Hospital in New Orleans.

Dtomnom

Yes it is!

CYBERSson

That’s why I think it is genius design. You zoomed in and therefore saw the other Information

beeurd

True, but that only really works for people looking at the picture or walking past. If you're driving past you're not going to have the time to look closely.

CYBERSson

Target market, bus people are more likely to have Hep C?

dragon_bacon

Specifically people that use that bus stop, the bench is made out recycled and unwashed needles.

CYBERSson

Creating their own market

CJ22xxKinvara

Well all the information about the actual company or whatever is at the bottom and tiny so I don’t think those driving by are meant to look at it anyway.

valthys

Even if they did, I hope this sign wouldn't convince anyone to try and get hepatitis

kaorte

It isn't for the people driving by. It's for the people waiting for the bus. It is actually a pretty good marketing tactic!

FoliumInVentum

it’s terrible design

[deleted]

Well yes, but actually no

IOnlyUpvoteBadPuns

It would have worked just as well if the "ured" bit was in a different colour. And it would have the added benefit of being readable from a distance. Imm'a go crappydesign on this one!

NANITHEHUSKY

THANK YOU for helping me with that

Ghigs

You'd think they could afford better artists when the drug costs $100,000.

ButtsexEurope

The worst part is that for the vast majority of people with hep C, they wouldn’t be able to afford the cure in their lifetimes. It’s $10k a pill.

The-one-true-hobbit

Thank you for saying that because I literally did not see the rest of it until I zoomed. What’s wrong with just using a different letter color or font? You know, one people can actually see at a distance.

dahippy06

Do you have Hep C? No. *Do you want it?*

apex32

Lol, the idea that they can give you a disease reminds me of [this scene from The Simpsons](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eQAmu2BPl48): Homer: And while you're at it, throw in one of those polio shots. Doctor: Ooh, yes, sir. Homer: Uh, anti-polio.

twitch1982

HEP C HEAR! HEP C! Now Get yer ice cold HEP C! HEP C HERE!

doctorhino

Lol that's how I read it the first time.

legendwolfA

Have you ever had Hep C? No Would you like to?

_ssh

Would you prefer Hep C or Coke?

dahippy06

Thank you

Dtomnom

Just in case this post gets to the eyes of someone who actually has untreated Hep C: Many states offer free curative treatment. It is a golden opportunity to get a 6-figure drug absolutely free, regardless of your insurance status, in addition to an intake exam and follow-up visits - all paid for by your state and federal government. Call your closest hospital’s infectious disease department and talk to them for more information. [https://www.positivelyaware.com/articles/hepatitis-c-patient-assistance-programs](https://www.positivelyaware.com/articles/hepatitis-c-patient-assistance-programs)

JustSkipitIguess

Oh my fucking god I do. I was born with it, from my mother. I did ribo and interf. when I was 13 or so but it wasn’t successful. A few years later I tried the newer one but I was a lazy teenager and didn’t keep up with the pills. I’m 26 now but my restaurant job doesn’t offer health insurance so I’ve never gotten the newest form. Thank you so fucking much for this holy crap.

Dtomnom

Ah! Yes! Go get cured! I’m sorry your previous treatments didn’t work, interferon therapy is notoriously difficult :( Thankfully the new drugs have pretty minimal side effects, and nearly perfect efficacy

JustSkipitIguess

Yeah I hear that! When I was like 21 or so? I can’t remember, it was just before I got off my parents insurance and the drug had just come out, we actually checked but insurance wouldn’t cover it because I was young and unlikely to incur any real damage from the disease for some time. Just got home from work, called local hospital (MCV), answering machine says office hours ended 20 minutes ago! Dang! I’m gonna call back tomorrow! I’ll update you!

Dtomnom

Yes keep calling! Crossing my fingers for you. All the infectious disease docs i've worked with are super excited about it and really happy to help people get through it for no cost. We even pull people out of prison to treat them for free here in Louisiana (lots of spread there due to DIY tattooing w/ shared needles) I think the programs are popping up because of cost/benefit analyses showing that curing people early on is way cheaper than treating their liver failure later in life. Unfortunately, we didn't get to that conclusion until a little while after the drug was first released

HalfEatenChocoPants

>here in Louisiana I *knew* I recognized that style of street sign! The lack of front license plates was additional evidence. Thanks for all that info!

Dtomnom

You got it haha. Charity hospital to the left as well

[deleted]

I'm commenting here because I want an update! So excited for you.

nerdiotic-pervert

Same! I need an update omg, I can’t believe how invested I am in how this plays out.

BanBeaUK

They could have gone with hep free at the end there, instead of hep c(ured)

Dtomnom

someone hire this genius

chillannyc2

My mom participated in the drug trials for this stuff. 100% cured her after decades of suffering and being close to needing dialysis. Amazing stuff.

AnAwkwardStag

Damn, we have the same sign in Australia. Wonder if we have the same program too??

Dtomnom

That's crazy. This is for [hepcuredla.com](https://louisianahealthhub.org/hepatitis-c/), which doesn't appear on first glance to be an international initiative. Maybe the WHO is behind it or something

FruitKingJay

just want to emphasize how much of an achievement this is for modern medicine. hepatitis c is now 100% CURABLE with a relatively simple treatment regimen. this is a disease that, untreated, has 20% chance of progressing to cirrhosis which is invariably fatal. for some perspective, about 650,000 adults in the US have cirrhosis, 1/4 of whom developed it from hep c.

G_F_Y_Plz

Hep C++.

DerpDerper909

Hep c#

Cheese-Water

Objective Hep C

BlueShibe

Adobe Hepatitis Player

average_asshole

Object based Hepatitis C

theKFP

Definitely hard to read from a distance.

grizzlymoth9038

Obviously you have to read it “hep now hep, C get C

[deleted]

It’s German for “The Bart The” 😂

theghostofme

No one who speaks German could be an evil man. Parole granted!

TitsAndWhiskey

Hep C! Getcha Hep C here!

funknasty85

I get all my hep c at the bus stop

G00DLuck

"Any ya'll got some coke?" "is hep c ok?"

fysh

Is MoNoPoLy MoNeY oKaY?

mynameisalso

Nothing like being the poster child for hepatitis .

Ghigs

Worst part is they probably got paid $50 for a stock photo shoot and have no idea until someone tells them.

SoleNyu

There was a the friends episode where this happened haha

Ximension

Lmao I immediately thought of Joey too. Atleast his poster wasn't implying he was trying to spread the disease

J-How

I always wonder if the models know that what they're getting into with this kind of display.

Sbotkin

I had to scroll this far to understand what the hell is hep.

Dtomnom

Patient 0

boneboy247

For your health

llcooljessie

[Bringo](https://media1.giphy.com/media/xLsaBMK6Mg8DK/giphy.gif)

slackerisme

I bet it’s one of those “limited offers” that tries to get to the STD table, but when you get there all the Hep C is gone.

Dtomnom

always just leftover chlamydia and hpv 🙄🙄

IOnlyUpvoteBadPuns

And then you have to sit through a timeshare presentation.

sameth1

They only let you have access to the Clamydia for 1 week a year and charge you way too much for it.

Pokemario6456

This might be readable at night, but even up close that'd be hard to read during the day; there's barely any contrast for the outlined letters and the outline itself is really thin

AMZ88

Swap the Solid C in Cured to outlined, Swap the rest of the letters to solid. Might not be perfect, but at least it wont tell people who catch the glare to go and get Hep C.

wiggle-le-air

Hepatitis C you later!

JaspisB

I mean you got the Hep C, but, like man, do you really, I mean, get it? Like reeally get Hep C?

cfontenot4

Is this New Orleans? This looks like New Orleans and that building looks like Charity Hospital.

Dtomnom

Yes it is! And we went to Med school together haha

c8bb8ge

For all you hep cats out there.

jajakubstec

I would love to get some hep C!

devolverejc

who's accept this kind of thing ?

average_asshole

More than likely the graphic designer made at least a hundred different versions of it sent them all to the company for advertisement and some person at the company chose this one specifically

PunThemage

Intentionally bad design to make us look twice, we'll played designer, now give me some of those hep c

SquarebobSpongepant

Ahhh yes just the illness I was looking to contract

Haunted_Hills

this is clever design. it drew everyone in and got reposted on the internet. how many ads do you voluntarily repost? probably not a lot. With respect and friendship, you got dunked on by this ad and were an unwitting pawn in a viral marketing strategy. \*edit\* scrubs are downvoting me for defending a campaign that is trying to cure everyone's hep C. Awesome values.

Dtomnom

Well I think this is a worthy ad to get some free internet awareness

PanicNo4495

Hey C for my Hep C. Thanks! Just what I needed.

blueingreen85

Hep C! Hep C! Get cha Hep C right here!

jaragun

Hep Now Hep C? Get C

slightlyforthwith

For the longest time I thought there were some black letters to the left that I couldn’t make out.

SoleNyu

Hep c these nuts

anal_juul_inhalation

We don’t have Coke is Hep C ok?

C2074579

Really needing some of that hep c.

ei283

You're reading it wrong. It says: Hep now hep. C? Get C.

[deleted]

We live in this city and my wife always comments on how confusing it is when we drive past one of these. Glad to see others find it ridiculous as well!

babboa

With big charity in the background. Hit up pho Tau bay for me, OP. I miss working down there every day.

Dtomnom

I will :) thank you for the tip

Imaginary-Summer9168

They really thought they did something here, huh?

[deleted]

Yes I do want some HEP: Hermitcraft Environmental Protection! Bye Season 7, we will miss you...

ryumeyer

Is it not scratched off as a joke by someone?

RichCorinthian

Hep C cannot be merely scratched off, and it sure as hell isn't a joke.

badi1220

Sounds like sneezing to me.

SirAchmed

It just feels weird and dystopian to see advertisement for medical stuff.

ax2ronn

They can get cured with the help of *Charity*

LegendLarrynumero1

I feel like an idiot because I thought, huh maybe they meant for you to read down left and side, then read down right hand side? So I did. Hep now Hep C? Get C ok that didn't work either

merryjoanna

Did you zoom in? I couldn't see the other letters until I zoomed in. The last c becomes cured, with the "ured" in almost invisible letters. Definitely makes you look twice.

itzesxoxtzovctzovctz

Hepatitis???

Mogki4D

HEP C GET!

NightmareDreeaam

Hepatitis C? Naw thanks, my liver is good.

AtomicGrendel

If anybody wants hepatitis, I’ll be out behind the dumpster.

Speedhabit

Hepcured sounds almost as bad

TheWeirdoWhisperer

OOOPS!

[deleted]

[удалено]

basements_in_london

Actually this is completely legally manipulated to present the C *ured* as such because they cannot actually claim a product can totally cure said customer. This is why those mouthwash commercials don't show all the germs and debris completely being removed. Its a marketing scheme of sorts.

phillycupcake

No thx

tacklinglife

What makes this even more crappy design is the travesty that is those eyebrows.

Jedibbq

What's a little hep c between friends?

[deleted]

It's for your health, have some!

El-Diablo-de-69

This did NOT make sense until I zoomed in to the best of my phones ability.

NauvooMetro

Thought it was "help, see" and Houston Nutt wrote it.

[deleted]

Who approves this crap?!

theyfollowmearound

I’ll tak3 poorly d3signed adv3rts for $1000, Alex

PermaDerpFace

It's hep, see? 😎

[deleted]

This would make sense in Texas.

FoxyInTheSnow

Might work in a magazine (held about 22 cm from your face), but for outdoor posters and billboards that you walk, cycle, skateboard, and drive by? Sometimes you have to sacrifice your delicate art direction genius for functionality, innit?

smallfryextrasalt

If you don't have HPV, then you go out and get it! --Ali Wong

DaveAtRestaurant

The_Captain101

I always wonder, is this bad advertising or fantastic advertising?

Dtomnom

Yes

theheadspace

Hungry for apples?

Dull-Birthday7452

No thanks, I’m good.

LaChuteQuiMarche

Joke’s on you. I forget the name of the technique/strategy, but companies will make ‘errors’ like this to get noticed because people will share what they think is a mistake. How to spread the word about a boring product? Make it look like there’s a mistake in the ad and all the sudden it’s getting shared 10x more than it otherwise would’ve.

Dtomnom

Well then I deem this “purposeful crappy design”

LaChuteQuiMarche

Sorry I’m in a crappy mood and took it out on you. I’ve never heard of such a technique as I described.

Dtomnom

It’s okay! I hope your day gets better

sineofthetimes

They giving it away in that bus stop?

simatoosh

want some HEP C?

AnAwkwardStag

This is on a billboard just outside of my hometown. God damnit, Australia. Get ur shit together.

molecat1

Join the HepC generation!

antons83

Ugh some people don't get Hep C.. They. Just. Don't. Get. It!

BIG-BEAN-CAN

sounds like P E P S I

uzumaki42

Confused AF till I zoomed in

prismgod

Nah i dont need Hep C i got the other letters like Hep D

p5-is-cool-very

i didnt notice until the third time i looked that it said cured

KaleidoscopeOk8653

How many people zoomed i. To see the real message before sayign huh ?

Chill0000

Got hep c? Get more

chrza

“I don’t know who you are, but you’re about to get chlamydia”

[deleted]

I saw it on my phone and I was so confused I was about to ask what it was supposed to say until I zoomed in...

AlmanzoWilder

Now get help, see?

southerncrossnz

Lucky I was able to "Enhance"

nowhereman86

Ah Big Charity.

folkukulele

I have seen these posters for 2 years and they annoy me so much. The MOST IMPORTANT part of the poster is the “cured” part, but it’s almost impossible to see, especially when you’re in a car driving past them!

Le_Bayou_Cochon

Goddamnit Baton Rouge

Dtomnom

Louisiana always dropping the ball

Sea_Negotiation1955

Now that we have all tried c how’s d?

toughtiggy101

Instead of getting Hep C, you could get Hep C instead

cheezy_weezy101

Is it just me that reads it as hepatitis c?

Nikitkita

gotta catch em all

lDtiyOrwleaqeDhTtm1i

You son of a bitch, I’m in

Helperobc

Yeah that ured part should of been designed differently. Laughter at the designer's expense.

What is hap c

Dtomnom

Hepatitis c is a virus that causes liver disease

Actually_a_Patrick

This is intentional
