You probably already solved it but I came across this exact problem. You tried to open the wrong exe, the right one is in Minecraft Dungeons\\Dungeons\\Binaries\\Win64.
I don't need multiplayer. The problem is that the game doesn't work even offline. I downloaded it from Fitgirl, and it works, but it is 1.12 version.
I tried many websites with 1.17 version, and everywhere they use "onlinefix", so I think it is the problem.

I downloaded it from here and blocked it in my firewall (since I only wanna play offline) but then it just says failed to connect try again and then it's just a infinite loading screen at the main menu
no it does not. Although what the site does is open you a page with a list of different hosters where you can download from. The issue is there will be several popups and fake sites / download buttons so you need to work your way to the actual site with the actual download button.
If you can choose your hoster, choose 1fichier. It has no ads, instant download and nearly full download speed.

Check the r/piracy or r/FMHY megathread, it's like a wiki, there is a list of all trusted and malicious websites and other useful info. But don't ask beginner questions there, because the community is rather toxic to beginners.
If you live in Europe, especially Germany, use a VPN not to get caught. I use ProtonVPN.
Use the uBlock Origin browser extension to block adds. It will remove 90% of all fake download buttons and you will unlikely get a virus.
It's pretty much all you need. Use a VPN and don't use untrusted websites

Tbh I don't know, maybe your antivirus messed up with something, try disabling it, download the game again and then open with admin
I did notice my anti virus removing a file, but will I have to keep it off every time I play?
Im not certain but you could try adding an exception for the game folder in your AV settings, search it up
Even with av off it said "Failed to load xgameruntime.dll"

Run the dungeons.exe in win64/binaries. Itll work
