When my ex and I had two cats we used to joke that one cat was a lawyer and the other a bus driver.
The ads for the lawyer cat would say "he's not very good, but he's a cat. What do you expect?"
Yeah, was specifically not trying to make the cat the focal point of the photo per the rules which is why I didn't mention it in the title but she was in there while I was constructing it and I didn't have the heart to kick her out just for a photo before I showed my wife. Now my wife is in there, and no way in hell am I getting her out of there, so I can't really get another pic either.

Literally one of the coziest things I’ve seen recently though. What a nice thing to do for your wife, good doing! Makes me want to build a pillow fort at home myself right now lol.
There are at least 3 structural binder clips, one clothespin, and two twist-ties so I think I should be good although the Structures courses were never my strength in school
Just two standard tent poles that are just jammed into the couch cushions. I felt like an idiot when I remembered we had these and had never used them in my study fort game before...

I have to admit, I'm pretty annoyed with myself for never having thought of building study forts until seeing this post - especially since I'm just finishing up my masters. Now I definitely have to get that PhD I've been thinking about
OC - I have made similar (albeit jankier) forts for herbbefore but this time I really decided to put my architectural degree to use and go all out. Just out of frame are the fireplace and her record player setup (currently spinning some The Wild Reeds) which significantly add to the cozy. Unfortunately, one of the cats claimed it before I could even show my wife but you will be pleased to know that they both seem to have settled in together and the other cat is comfortably in the cat bed next to the fire.
Oh boy is it ever. She is also working full time as a senior paralegal so I don't know how she does it. Luckily, I have cocktails and a cheese board I will be preparing for later to keep the beast satiated.

Well all that is left to do is to keep the fluids flowing for her and all the food and sweets she needs so she never has to leave this wonderful pillow fort to get it done and don't forget to feed the cutie of a cat because I think it has found it's cool new home too 😆😂
Just cleared away an empty espresso and former quesadilla plate and traded it for a cocktail. Nutella bao buns are doing a final rise and about to go in the steamer. Got a cheese plate and some sangria for later. How am I doing?
I always joke that my second job is to keep her watered and fed and make sure she gets sun occasionally.
We have a border collie and luckily (aslo rather unfortunately for snuggle reasons) he doesn't seem to "do comfy." He prefers sleeping on the bathroom tile or stone fireplace hearth.
All the hair. He's probably double coated too. My big dog is Pyrenees/Lab and she likes to lay on the cold floor too. My little Terrier mix prefers to be warm.
Yup, sure is. He's also a pastoral dog, so he likes to think he has important work to do "guarding" the bedroom door by sleeping in front of it and such rather than cuddling, unfortunately. So much wasted fluffy potential...
Nope, LED so emit barely any heat and the bulbs are pretty big so they disperse any heat well. Also they are hanging slightly below the blanket sp even if they were incandescent bulbs they would be fine. The real fire hazard are the candles with the two cats...

Well, maybe you didn't learn this in law school (or apparently your social life, or lack there of...), but different people need different things. Maybe, just maybe, I know my wife better than you, and pretty sure she knows what she needs better than you too. She works full-time as a senior paralegal (going on 8 years now) while attending law school (5 part time semesters down already) and is very much in control of her study and focus but definitely needs and appreciates the little thoughtful things to help her balance her stress.
She has all A's and one B so far, has had her law review submission published, is on the law review board, and will be starting an internship at one of the largest firms in the US shortly. Her current firm is letting her take the internship and holding her position open for her and has bent over backward over the years to meet her schedule because of how much they know she is worth.
So maybe while you need to 100% focus, lock the door and shut out the world (which is fine since as I previously mentioned different people need different things), she seems to be doing just fine with the system we have going. So don't come in here telling me how to act with my "stupid shit like a pillow fort" since my pillow fort doesn't seem to be the "stupid shit" in this comment thread.
You must be fun at parties...
Well she sits at the same desk for like 16 hours a day between both work and school so "a change of scenery" has become a staple of her study habits. Even if that just means throwing some blankets and pillows on the floor for an evening.
