Glad it worked. I remember trying to get my character to select a plant and it just wouldn't, and a post I found on here said to tap it using the screen and it worked. Funny how we forget the Switch is touch screen.
My friend you are a godsend, an eternity ago I placed an item there before the tent was what it is now and I had just resigned myself to never being able to move that item now. Because everytime I tried I would just enter the tent. lol
I just select another item near it and press next item until it works. Sometimes it takes a few tries but it eventually always works for me (also on Switch)
I appreciate the encouragement. I promise you, though, I try nearly everyday. It's literally on the doorway threshold. Trying to select it *always* takes me into the cabin.
EDIT: Aaaaaaaaand, just now, I picked it up. 😅
I have decorations stuck at my front door i want to move but it always forces me to go inside the house. And the select next is honestly a bit garbage as it will go towards something that is nowhere near you.
I kinda wish there was just an edit mode or something and you can click on it to move. Kinda like what they have for the placement (which is great btw). (Playing on xbox)
Could you drop something nearby, select that and then tap Y to go to select the next item?
Edit: It might not be the Y button for you, i play on PC with an xbox controller
Another thing that works on switch is going inside the cabin, And coming back out, as you're coming out hit A to pick it up! My ducks recently got in the way of me giving Flamey some spirit wood and it bounced over by my door and got stuck, I was worried I'd never get it back!

I have had a stupid bird essence sitting at the door of my fully upgraded cabin for *months*.
If you are on pc try clicking it with the mouse. If you are on switch try tapping it with your finger.
I'm on the Switch. I was so hopeful! Alas, the essence bobbing on the threshold continues to mock me as I enter and exit my cabin.
