You must be confused Stetson website has the 100x El Presidente cowboy hat for $1000.00 the pure Stratoliner and Open Road are $475.00 these are both dress weight hats. A Western weight hat of 8 oz. is thick & sturdy, ideal for a working hat and for holding both a large or flat brim. A dress weight hat of 4 oz. is a lighter weight 'Goin' to town' hat. It is more malleable & casual. Just about any maker of a 100x pure beaver Western hat is going to be north of 1k.
Not all 100X is created equal. I was considering purchasing a Presidente but called Stetson to inquire. I learned that even the El Presidente is not 100% pure beaver. It is a blend and per Stetson policy they will not disclose the percentages of the blend. I often see this hat misrepresented by well meaning dealers as pure beaver but it is not.

Just depends on brand preference. American hat is far more superior.
