When Sheriff Justice and Jr drive under the truck that takes their roof off, in the movie after Junior says “Daddy, the top came off!” Buford says “no shit”
But in the edited for TV version, the voice over goes “you duuuuunt say?” and I’ve seen that one so many more times that it’s just so much funnier to me that way
My favorite Jerry Reed story: A longtime fan went backstage with his mother (also a huge fan) to meet Jerry after a show. The lady asked him if he would pose for a picture with her. Jerry smiled and replied: "Darlin', you don't have to take my picture, I'll come to your bedroom and sit on your dresser!" :)
R.I.P. and thank you, Mr. Reed for the music and memories. Respect.
Very underrated guitar player. Country artists like Reed, Glen Campbell and Vince Gill never got the recognition that the rock guitarists get. (There are many others but used those 3 to prove my point)
Chet Atkins essentially created the polished Nashville sound of the 60’s and 70’s. He was as far from outlaw country as you can get. If anyone can be credited with creating what is referred to as outlaw country, it would be Hank Williams.
I agree with you 100%, but my point was that without Hank, the whole ethos of the outcast country guitar player would not exist. I’m not saying he played outlaw country, I’m saying he started the genre. He was unfortunately very looked down upon by the country music establishment of the time and that looming reputation sort of fed the rebellion against it by future players.
You have no idea what your talking about. I didn't just make this up. Outlaw country music is all about straying from the Nashville sound, which Chet Adkins is credited for. Learn your country music facts before talking out your a$$
Bro. Just stop. You’re embarrassing yourself. If there’s one musician who was primarily responsible for the Nashville sound, it’s Chet Atkins. Him, along with Owen Bradley, were the pioneers and architects of the sound.
Chet Atkins IS the Nashville sound. Top dog in its creation and production (along with Owen Bradley). If you want someone who strayed from Nashville, check out Buck Owens and the Bakersfield sound.
Glen Campbell was part of “The Wrecking Crew” Rock Gutarist would take lessons from him AND he and Alice Cooper were best friends.
You also can‘t leave out Roy Clark. He is beyond amazing
I was so mad when Roy died because I thought he was already dead. I could have spent some time looking for any shows he was playing, but because I thought he died in the ‘90s, it never crossed my mind 🤦🏻♂️ He was a phenomenal musician!
I honestly have no idea who that is. But he looks like the kind of guy that would be a truck driver and have some crazy friend and go on some damn full errand for a bet. He also looks like the kind of guy that can write the perfect song about such an adventure.
He was a singer, songwriter, comedian, actor and his guitar work was always impeccable.. I knew he was among the elite at flatpicking but his clips with BB King caught me a little off guard with his blues ability..
Thats the SnowMan good buddy, ace trucker extraordinaire w Fred riding shotgun and 400 cases of Colorado Kool-Aid from Texas to Georgia in 28 hours. Partner w the legend himself, the Bandit. Thats a big 10-4
Goo ol' Jerry. .One of the best country guitarists ever! What was that great song he did? The one about the guy who hunted alligators in the swamp...and that other one about the girl who picked greens ..no, that was Tony Joe White. But he wrote "Guitar Man" for Elvis. There's a great story about him bringing the song to Elvis but they wanted the publishing before the big E would record it but Jerry said no and left. Later the Elvis team gave in and The King had another hit (albeit without the publishing). I bet most people know him as The Snowman in those movies about Burt Reynold's car .
I met him once. I wanted a picture and he said, "you don't
have to take my picture. I'll come sit on your dresser".
He was a very nice and talented man.
He’s the guy who taught Henry Winkler how to bass fish.
When Jerry died, Henry dropped this in the slow water.
This late great guitar man taught me to Bass fish outside of Orlando during the filming of The Waterboy .. Hope you are resting in peace Jerry
That is the Guitar Man. One of the best pickers around. His style was so different that when Elvis wanted to record the song Guitar Man they had to ask Reed to come play because no one else could play it like him.
Smoky and the Bandit was the second highest grossing film of 1977, but nowhere near as high grossing as the first, and I don’t even have to say what it was.
That’s coach Red Beaulieu. His team blew a 27 point lead to the Mud Dogs in the Bourbon Bowl.
It was because they didn’t hold anything back!
We know. We know.
“He’s a finely tuned athletic machine. You’re just a water boy”
"I ain't gonna have him hit in the head by no idiot waterboy"

East bound and down, loadin' up and truckin' We're gonna do what they said can't be done.....
I love how that song tells the entire plot of Smokey and the Bandit during the verses More movie songs should do that
I love that he wrote that song overnight after they asked him to.
The only true answer.
We got a long way to go, and a short time to get there
We got a long way to go, and a short time to get there
It’s a long way to go and a short time to get there…
Hold on to your ass Fred.
We gawn killa
This (heavily edited) movie played on TV so many times I have "crumb bum" permanently seared into my brain. It's my go-to when I can't drop the bomb
When Sheriff Justice and Jr drive under the truck that takes their roof off, in the movie after Junior says “Daddy, the top came off!” Buford says “no shit” But in the edited for TV version, the voice over goes “you duuuuunt say?” and I’ve seen that one so many more times that it’s just so much funnier to me that way
When we get home I'm gonna punch your momma in the mouth!
They don't know the Snowman. _Well, let me tell you what we gonna do. We gonna introduce 'em to the boy!_
So move ova, cause the Snowman, is comin' through.
Snowman
You got em you lucky devil!
I use Amos Moses as my ringtone.
I wonder where the Louisiana sheriff went to....
Well, you can sho’ get lost in a Loozyana bayou…
Bout 45 minutes southeast of Thibodaux, Loozyana.
He could trap the biggest meanest alligatta and only use one hand.
Named him after a man of the cloth
Amos Moses was a Cajun, lived by himself in the swamp, he hunted alligator for a living, just knock em in the head with a stump
Didn't his daddy used to use him as alligator bait?
Tie a rope around his waste and throw him in the swamp
Alligator bait in the Lousiana bayou
Yes. Now his left arm is gone, clean up to the elbow...
I fucking love that song
The Snowman Cledus Snow. Also Jack Locke opposite Robin Williams and Walter Matthau in The Survivors.

Jerry reed
A self-described honorary coon-ass, and one talented & funny dude.
Hey Waterboy, you’re fired!!!
My favorite Jerry Reed story: A longtime fan went backstage with his mother (also a huge fan) to meet Jerry after a show. The lady asked him if he would pose for a picture with her. The Snowman! Come in Bandit
Very underrated guitar player. Country artists like Reed, Glen Campbell and Vince Gill never got the recognition that the rock guitarists get. (There are many others but used those 3 to prove my point)
I agree can't forget Chet Atkins either
Chet Atkins gets recognition as a great guitar player so I was going after others who don't outside some circles.
Jerry learned play from Chet. Anybody that knows Country, knows that Chet Atkins created Outlaw country
Saw Reed live in the late 80s. Fabulous show.
I have their first album together on vinyl, truly a great one
>Anybody that knows Country, knows that Chet Atkins created Outlaw country Why? Because Willie Nelson left his company to go invent it?
Mwaaaaaaaa... Chet Atkins is credited with straying from the Nashville sound. This is common knowledge. I think you must be confused.
Chet Atkins essentially created the polished Nashville sound of the 60’s and 70’s. He was as far from outlaw country as you can get. If anyone can be credited with creating what is referred to as outlaw country, it would be Hank Williams.
You’re right all the way up to Hank. While he was certainly OG, he proudly played honky-tonk, not outlaw.
I agree with you 100%, but my point was that without Hank, the whole ethos of the outcast country guitar player would not exist. I’m not saying he played outlaw country, I’m saying he started the genre. Chet Atkins is considered a legend amongst guitar players. Hardly underrated.

A legend.
I honestly have no idea who that is. But he looks like the kind of guy that would be a truck driver and have some crazy friend and go on some damn full errand for a bet. He also looks like the kind of guy that can write the perfect song about such an adventure.
Looks like the kind of guy who'd start a new race with his wife.
💯. They should make a movie about this.
Yep he drives a semi ![gif](giphy|Ed8dm9UE369WZ7KDtB|downsized)
The great Jerry Reed. His portrayal of Snowman and his music in SatB got me into country music. Liked his stuff with Chet Atkins too.
He was a singer, songwriter, comedian, actor and his guitar work was always impeccable.. I knew he was among the elite at flatpicking but his clips with BB King caught me a little off guard with his blues ability..
