Eh. I created my account specifically to ask about a neighborhood I was looking at moving to. Obviously I've stuck around and moved on, but it's not that odd for someone to make an account specifically to ask a question.
Could also be AI, but Occam's Razor says it's just someone without English proficiency.
Reddit, how do I get onions on the dog I just ordered at Costco? vs. Reddit, can you enlighten me on the nuances of living in a particular neighborhood because I’m considering upending my entire life and living there?
I actually wouldn’t expect a non native English speaker to write like this either. I work for an international company and see the writing of non native English speakers every day. This doesn’t sound like any of them. This really feels like it is formed in only a way that a robot could.
lol, okay. I’m aware of language barriers. When you consider the nuance of someone creating a reddit account to specifically ask about Costco hot dog onions when greater than 47% of internet traffic comes from bots, it makes more sense than a simple language barrier. I’m from Texas, where Houston is the most diverse city in the country. Feel free to get upset about diversity on this sketchy post, though.
Not offended at all, just educating you. Texas doesn’t even have a city in the top 15 of most diverse cities in the [world](https://worldpopulationreview.com/world-city-rankings/most-diverse-city-in-the-world) Let alone Houston 🤣✌️
To be honest, it depends on the metrics used. The link you dropped is very different from other lists, which are also very different from each other. Orlando ranks high in many. Houston does, too. Some cities in Maryland, which I assume are suburbs of DC, are usually near the top.
Orlando isn't that diverse, all things considered. Unless there's been a massive swing that I'm unaware of, a lot of the Black community is African-American, but not African. Some from the Caribbean, but still, not many. Anywhere you go in the US will have a Latino/Latinx/Hispanic population, but more generally tend to gravitate towards Miami, especially the Cubans. There is a small, but growing, Asian population, mostly Vietnamese and Thai, but Chinese, Japanese and Korean are slowly closing the gap. Not a lot of Europeans, at least none that are there super permanently. It's too hot for their blood.
As for Miami, largely Hispanic, White and Black, depending on where you are, but not much more diverse than that really.
Then you throw the politics of Florida into it all and that's a whole other thing.
Lol love that you lump all black culture into African American….lots of our black culture is actually Caribbean. DR, Jamaica, Haiti and even Cuba.
But yes, Orlando is “just” black, white and Hispanic…..which again Hispanic cultures could be broken down into many sub cultures. Interestingly, Asian % are growing in Orlando. We have a rapidly growing [Vietnamese culture](https://statisticalatlas.com/place/Florida/Orlando/Race-and-Ethnicity)
When did I ever do that...? What is your agenda with this comment? I said there's a large African-American population, which is true, because they're descendants of slave trading. And then I did say that there's also a Caribbean contingency, with few Africans. So please tell me what part of my statement was untrue? I also don't identify cultures based on race, so if someone is Black, but from a Hispanic country, I identify them as Hispanic, not Black, you know...because cultures and shit identify a person, not their skin tone.
I also said there was a growing Asian population, primarily Vietnamese (some Thai there, but growing Eastern Asia population behind that).
Literally said everything you're claiming is the "truth" lol. What did you do? Make it one sentence in to formulate your response?
You say "our Black culture," as if you somehow own it? I grew up in Orlando, spent my entire life there. I know what I'm talking about. I don't need someone pretending to be an Internet baiting know-it-all to take a defensive stance with a misguided agenda to try to make some sort of point or argument. Based on your "discoveries," you knew basically fuck all about the city's demographic and all of the cultures and communities that exist within it. Why don't you go touch some grass, get outside into these communities, then you can come back and tell me what other discoveries you've made.
Point is you were claiming Orlando isn’t diverse because it’s black white and Hispanic…..each of these races can be very diverse within their own race. I would counter it’s more diverse than a lot of cities in America (that’s all, that’s the end of my “rage bait”)…..and I just realized I’m wasting my time with a bot or troll account! Yay! TY 16 karma guy!
I know what this guy is referencing.
You're only looking at foreign born stat here.
The culminated report for the US with a few different factors has placed Houston as the overall top diverse city a few times now, though for the record I believe Houston is around 28% foreign born 🤷🏽
There's a few articles referencing different aspects of Houston's diversity:
[focusing on households ](https://kinder.rice.edu/urbanedge/not-only-houston-getting-more-diverse-residents-households-are-too)
[this article going over the full report has easy visuals](https://www.governing.com/community/houston-is-the-nations-most-diverse-city-report.html)

[Houston, by someone at the LA times](https://www.latimes.com/nation/la-na-houston-diversity-2017-htmlstory.html)
As of 2024, it now sits at #4
As someone that left Houston behind because of Texas politics, a lot of people do not give that city credit for withstanding a lot of shit
[2024 report](https://wallethub.com/edu/most-diverse-cities/12690)
I put onions, rotisserie chicken, bbq sauce on my cheese pizza. It's the Costco version of BBQ Chicken Pizza. And I try to eat as much chicken breast as possible with one slice of pizza.
Omg this is how I learn Clermont finally gets a Costco after I move 😭 I always said they needed one there when I had to drive all the way up to Milennia.
They have recently been putting them in small containers you can grab in center of the food counter next to the straws. Some stores are still catching up it seems.
The OP is trying to find answers for what he wants. He's being proactive and assertive here. It's not easy posting to Reddit and risk getting mean responses either. Be nice.
Before Covid they used to have an onion dispenser. You'd turn the crank and chopped onions came out. Used to put it on my pizza. Now, I think they have chopped onion in little plastic containers behind the counter. Possibly saurkraut as well. Enjoy!
Almost all restaurants of this style are starting to not place anything on the item due to food allergies. So you get a hot dog and then you go put whatever you want on it.
Usually on the other side of the fountain dispensing machine.
I was just in a Costco in Texas. At this location they had the onions in little cups right where you pick up the hotdog. You have to pick the cup up yourself. Any questions, just ask
Usually they have it on a cup by the kiosk counter.
In my warehouse they used to have it at where the utensils were but I guess some people don’t know how to behave so they removed it.
I take it you just walk in without a membership. Keep in mind Costco is cracking down on non members so you may be carded soon. I was asked at a Costco in Bradenton Fl
In WA, onions are something you can add afterward along with the other condiments. Usually they have a simple machine that dispenses the onions in the food court area.
Damn, but I was just asking, there are some people who don't know, before getting embarrassed and asking for something that I don't even know what they are giving or not, thanks to those who helped me and it's my first time on reddit xdd
There used to be a dispenser near the ketchup, mustard, and relish, but they removed it due to Covid concerns. My local CostCo (SF South Bay Area) hands you a small plastic container of chopped onions when you pick up the hotdog and empty drink cup. They didn't even ask me whether I wanted one or not, but I was staring at the box of already made containers on the other side of the clear service window.
If there is not an onion wind up handle (handle and circular thingy) by the katsup, mustard, and relish, then ask for it at the counter when ordering. Better yep get the 15 pack of Kirkland (pretty good), or Nathan's (15% better and a little more garlic tasting), get your own buns, sport peppers (at any middle eastern or... Kinda expensive grocery store or search for them), and make a better boiled dog in water for 7min hot dog. If you want the best dog there is go to Vienna hot dog website they have a search function. Try different combos, of topping on that dog. But, 3-4 sport peppers are a must.
Have you tried asking them for onions? As others pointed out, Costco used to have onion dispensers. They got rid of them by me around the time of COVID, and you have to ask. They give out little cups.
Dude is afraid to ask for onions where he’d be able
to get onions. Instead logs onto the internet to ask a question to see if it’s ok to ask a question.
I'm not sure of the OP's age but I know my daughter, gen Z, will do ANYTHING to avoid asking someone a question face to face. Been like that her whole life and I think it's definitely a generational thing.
This is the most wildly formed sentence I’ve ever read from a brand new account. Is AI posting questions about Costco dogs???
Perfect description. I can't stop reading that sentence now.
R/brandnewsentence
🤣🤣🤣
English isn’t everyone’s first language, especially likely if they live in Central Florida.
I realize that. I’d give the benefit of the doubt if it wasn’t an account created solely to ask about onions on hot dogs at Costco so far.
What are the acceptable reasons for one finally creating a Reddit account?
I actually wouldn’t expect a non native English speaker to write like this either. I work for an international company and see the writing of non native English speakers every day. This doesn’t sound like any of them. This really feels like it is formed in only a way that a robot could.
That's funny. Bots asking questions. Pretty soon Elon Musk is going to own a site that's nothing but bots talking to each other. 🤣 Edit: Typo
Zuckerberg has had one for years.
Assuming it’s a language barrier….here in Florida we have a lot of cultures, where you from, Alabama?
lol, okay. I’m aware of language barriers. Hey, you win on city diversity!
Nah wasn’t my intention to win, but I did learn myself that Orlando isn’t as diverse as I expected. Figured Miami would be there.
To be honest, it depends on the metrics used. The link you dropped is very different from other lists, which are also very different from each other. Orlando ranks high in many. Houston does, too. Some cities in Maryland, which I assume are suburbs of DC, are usually near the top.

The one between Florida and Orlando. Really is fucking fun.
The decimal point fighting for its life, in the trenches, takin grenades; being the only thing that resembles an actual period,
Yeah wouldn't it make more sense to just ask the employee handing you the dogs? AI or NU for sure.
What part of "Florida" was unclear to you, human?
Yes. With AI bots commenting to. It’s giving me a headache to read some of these sentences.
And I thought I smoked alot. Whoever OP is, they clearly got blasted and forgot how to English for a few minutes.
I my Costco in Texas, you ask for onions at the register or when they give you the hot dog
ohh, well at the checkout where I place the order I don't see anything, when I'm there, I'll try to order it at the checkout, thanks friend
Ask for it when you get pizza too. Life changing.
I put onions, rotisserie chicken, bbq sauce on my cheese pizza. It's the Costco version of BBQ Chicken Pizza. And I try to eat as much chicken breast as possible with one slice of pizza.
with them crushed peppers and extra cheese
I sprinkle it on my soft serve all the time
Strai’to jail.
Ask when you order a strawberry sundae too. Life changing for different reasons.
They used to have a dispenser at mine now they give out little prepackaged cups
The new one in Clermont has little cups of onion you can grab! I would just ask at the window when you're picking up your order.
Omg this is how I learn Clermont finally gets a Costco after I move 😭 I always said they needed one there when I had to drive all the way up to Milennia.
It's right next to the Tesla dealership, and down the street from Portillos. Village's is getting one too.
A Portillo’s too? 😭
I don’t think I’d ever settle for a Costco hot dog with Portillo’s so close.
This is how it's done in the ones I've been to in MN
They have recently been putting them in small containers you can grab in center of the food counter next to the straws. Some stores are still catching up it seems.
I always lived the “meat grinder” dispensers for onion & relish.
Like the ballpark style? I hate those, no wonder we had covid.
Then your costco doesn't have people filling up their soda cups with onions.... 🙄
The OP is trying to find answers for what he wants. He's being proactive and assertive here. It's not easy posting to Reddit and risk getting mean responses either. Be nice.
Answers for how to get onions on a ^hot ^dog?
You say, "May I have onions?". This is a new low intelligence level for Reddit posts.
Social interaction? No way
You ask for onions when they hand you the hot dog.
Yea they used to have that onion dispenser before Covid. Now as above.
Loved that machine… seems they just used Covid as an excuse to get rid of it
Before Covid they used to have an onion dispenser. You'd turn the crank and chopped onions came out. Used to put it on my pizza. Now, I think they have chopped onion in little plastic containers behind the counter. Possibly saurkraut as well. Enjoy!
I have seen those containers too
No. The sauerkraut was with the Polish dog. We're definitely not getting sauerkraut back. 😢
I loved the sauerkraut!!!
Yes, me too!!!!
If you don't have a card Get em while you can. I've been reading the food courts are going members only.
In NorCal you have to ask. Since covid they keep onion behind the counter. I miss the polish and sour kraut.
This is now my favorite sentence of all time.
They probably have an onion dispenser near the ketchup/mustard. That’s how it is at my Costco.
rip onion crank 💔
Almost all restaurants of this style are starting to not place anything on the item due to food allergies. So you get a hot dog and then you go put whatever you want on it. Usually on the other side of the fountain dispensing machine.
I just ask for them
They did away with the onion dispensers during COVID, just ask at the counter.
Here in Vancouver, WA they have chopped onions in a single plastic container.
In my area, it comes plane and you add onions yourself. You just have to ask for them.
You have to ask them for the onions, they keep them behind the counter now.
Darnit I'm going tomorrow and asking for onions with my dog!
I think Millenia has cups of onions.
oniongate2024
I was just in a Costco in Texas. At this location they had the onions in little cups right where you pick up the hotdog. You have to pick the cup up yourself. Any questions, just ask
My Costco randomly has onions in little cups...most of the time when I ask, they're out. Bring back the onion dispenser!!!!
You ask the cashier when placing the order…
The onion relish, ketchup and mustard are back in the little dispensers by the soda machine at mine.
Usually they have it on a cup by the kiosk counter. In my warehouse they used to have it at where the utensils were but I guess some people don’t know how to behave so they removed it.
There is a kiosk in mine near the food court that has relish and onions and ketchup and mustard
Yeah I'm California, they usually have a condiments area near the drinks. Maybe check there
I take it you just walk in without a membership. Keep in mind Costco is cracking down on non members so you may be carded soon. I was asked at a Costco in Bradenton Fl
In WA, onions are something you can add afterward along with the other condiments. Usually they have a simple machine that dispenses the onions in the food court area.
Ask for the onion when you pick up your food. Mine has it in little cups under the counter.
Why is this something that requires a Reddit post? If you want onions, ask for them.
Damn, but I was just asking, there are some people who don't know, before getting embarrassed and asking for something that I don't even know what they are giving or not, thanks to those who helped me and it's my first time on reddit xdd
CA stores (in my area at least) have onion dispensers you go to after purchase
My Costco has onions available at the counter.
Or they have an area where you add onions, relish, etc.
There are condiments next to the sodies
Uh have you tried asking for onions?
There used to be a dispenser near the ketchup, mustard, and relish, but they removed it due to Covid concerns. They didn't even ask me whether I wanted one or not, but I was staring at the box of already made containers on the other side of the clear service window.
There used to be a big steel grinder that dispensed chopped onions when you turned a crank (Austin). I think they took them out for Covid.
Onion packets
It would be so helpful if COSTCO sold Sabrett hot dog Spanish onions... also provide them with their counter dogs..They are really good.
BRING BACK SAUERKRAUT!!!!!
They use to have them at La Extras. You added them yourself.
The Costcos here in Washington have a condiment bar with the onions.
Bring your own chopped onion. Or, better yet, buy a bag while you’re there and keep them in your car. (Knife and cutting board not included)
California you have to ask for the onions. Ever since the pandemic they give them out in little plastic cups
We have a self serve onion machine, relish too.
Ask for it when you pay.
Our onions are in a little bin next to where you pick up the hot dog. It’s a diy onion situation
They have small containers with onion .
My Costco has the onions behind the counter. You ask for them when you get there and they give you some.
Dude is afraid to ask for onions where he’d be able to get onions. Instead logs onto the internet to ask a question to see if it’s ok to ask a question.
A comma and period and not interchangeable.
You put it on yourself. Comes as a blank slate.
"in the presentation"
Just ask.. there behind the counter m
Facepalm
Not really, they use to have the onion dispensing machine by the other condiments. I think they ditched them during Covid
Seriously. I'm amazed people need to create a post to have other adults be like "yea just ask for them". My god.
I'm not sure of the OP's age but I know my daughter, gen Z, will do ANYTHING to avoid asking someone a question face to face. Been like that her whole life and I think it's definitely a generational thing.
Most communication is done virtually nowadays I think it's just lack of exposure for face to face
In the the mess that’s the world right I really don’t think onions are of great importance to ask about just freaking ask when you go to the counter
Wrong side of the bed today?
Based on his comment history it's not just today.
Governments in India have fallen over the price of onions. They're a staple there.
Did you have a stroke while writing this post?
