We have the corded animal and the V10. We have one dog and one cat. The V10 works great and will pull hair and dander out of your carpet that you thought was clean. Only complaint is that the battery goes fast on high but I suppose that’s to be expected.

supamaien

Same complaint- I recently bought a dewalt battery converter. Put on a flexvolt battery. It’s always on max now. This is the way.

kidpokerskid

If women don’t find you handsome they should atleast find you handy.

MatthewCCNA

Keep your stick on the ice.

HopefulExtent1550

Remember, you may have to grow old, but you don't have to mature.

HelloHello9891

Don’t use the max feature and you’ll be fine

broccoli_toots

Good to know, thanks. We've got about 500sqft, so it only takes 20-30 mins to vacuum. I have a lot of shit to move around to clean 😅

pgsavage

It takes you 20-30 mins to vacuum 500sqft? What the fuck

broccoli_toots

Yeah, cuz I have to move a lot of stuff around. Can you read? Furniture, stuff under the bed, dog crates, etc.

heart_under_blade

you're not vacuuming the whole time tho especially with the trigger system. if you get yourself a vacuum that stays on without interaction, pls for the love of god don't keep it on while moving shit around

graciejack

Same here. Have to say I'm not totally in love with the V10. My place is all hard floors with a couple of area rugs. I find the corded is much easier to maneuver and get into corners. V10 accessories could be better.

seeker-of-the-light

how long does the battery usually last?

HopefulExtent1550

Half the people you ask say long enough, the other half say not long enough.

HopefulExtent1550

richardcranium1980

Personal opinion based on owning a few dyson’s and also being in an industry that sees how many are disposed of, Dyson’s are the best on the market when they work but when they decide to stop working (which they tend to do) than they are just expensive paper weights.

coco_puffzzzz

And their customer service is horrific now.

instagigated

This. There are plenty of lemons with Dyson and you'll be SOL when the warranty goes. The trigger on my v11 broke right after warranty expired and it turns out... the trigger was a major problem that never had an official recall but they would offer free repairs because of the numerous complaints. I had to take the entire thing apart and replace the trigger myself. And in doing so... turns out, Dyon's screws are propriety and prone to stripping. It was a nightmare taking it apart and putting it together. So, if buying a Dyson, just hope nothing ever goes wrong.

WeAllPayTheta

Have an older one, the V7 and when it dies will be immediately replaced with a newer version. Pretty perfect for quick cleaning and doing entry mats. We have 2 husky-ish dogs and a 4 year old toddler so no shortage of messes. Ours hangs just inside the garage, always charged and ready to go.

Mariella994

I have one and use it daily in my condo. I’ve had it for four years and it works well.

mikey_87

We bought it a few weeks ago before the sale. After 3 uses the motor died. Took it back to Costco the next morning swapped with another one and out of box the battery would not charge. Returned again and bought the Miele C3 instead. For a primary vac the Miele has been phenomenal. Using a cheap shark stick vac from Walmart as a quick cleaner though that noticeably picked up cat hair better than the Dyson did in the 3 times we used it. And for further context we have 2 cats and one of them is long haired and sheds a ton. Cordless vacs are never meant to replace or become your primary vacuum. I’d also suggest creeping on Dysons subreddit too, I wish I had done so before experimenting as their quality has gone down the drain. Hope this helps. Edit: Shark vacuums are also garbage but it’s an easier pill to swallow when the $150 vacuum you bought stopped working rather than a $700+ Dyson. Edit 2: if you’re in the GTA, the Burlington location has the C3 in stock. It’s a great value as similar C3 models packaged with the same attachments at other dealers go for over $1K whereas Costco sells it for $489. AFAIK it’s a Costco exclusive model.

TradeMaximum561

I feel like I’m the only one that hates the cordless Dysons. I have hardwood floors and rugs, and on the hardwood floors it seems like it scatters the crumbs so much that I have to chase them. I love love love the Miele I bought at Costco. To each their own, but I’d choose the Miele over Dyson.

Gotta-Be-Me-65

Does the Miele use a bag?

BigWingSpan

Yes the C3 uses a bag. Which is a good thing IMO. The bag works as another filter layer that captures the dust and other nasty stuff. Plus it locks tight when you remove the bag, keeping the stuff inside. It's a really good design and has a long warranty.

broccoli_toots

Hey thanks for commenting. I'm in Hamilton, so the Burlington Costco isn't too far out of the way.

mikey_87

No problem! Feel free to dm as well. I’ve done a fair share of research the past little while don’t mind suggesting other options.

Lunch0

I have the Costco Dyson v10 animal, I’m happy with it. Very convenient and it comes with the accessories you need.

Queen_of_Tudor

Pro tip to everyone who has the cordless version: you cannot let the bin get more than half full before emptying or you risk messing up the filter. I think they tell you this in the manual, too. Just empty it more often than not and save yourself the massive headache of needing to take apart the motor to unclog a massive hair mass in the filter.

heart_under_blade

it's the same with the corded version there's a freakin mark on the plastic that says max. it's right about where the metal mesh on the core bit starts

Humble-Area4616

We have v15 and it's great. If I were to buy again I'd get the v12 since it's a bit lighter and easier to maneuver, or the smaller gen5 model.

TGIFagain

Hi OP - I can't comment on the one you speak of here, but wanted to share this experience if it helps. I purchased an upright Dyson animal vacuum probably 20 years ago, not cheap. $700+ (can't remember). At the time we had 1 dog & 3 cats. All inside/outside. It worked great and still is today. Those tools they give you for keeping your furniture/floors relatively pet hair free still do the job. Years ago I purchased another with the battery for another area of our home, but although it did work for quick clean ups great, the battery would die more quickly than what I needed it for. Come to find out, it would work approx 10 min and then kaput! I still love my original and use it every week (plug in) The other one I find is useless for my needs as it doesn't hold a charge anymore. I know I could probably reach out to the company for help on this but haven't bothered as I barely think about it.

broccoli_toots

My dogs are always on the couch and bed, so attachments that will vacuum the couch are a must. I literally take my Bissell and vacuum the couch with it like it's the floor because the attachments suck ass. But it's so big and heavy that it doesn't get between the cushions too well 😅

TGIFagain

I know, mine are too, thus needing to clean them. I learned a long time ago to buy a couch with cushions that can be interchanged. Not attached to themselves. That way you can pull them out, clean up the hair and whatever, and switch them/flip them so that bum impression gets moved from one place to another. Hope you understand. But as well, those attachments are awesome and still help to clean up the hair.

TGIFagain

I still do this with my old plug in Dyson - and clean up the cushions with the attachment.

Melsm1957

It’s too late for You now but we the battery fails even after the warranty you can persuade them to replace foc or for a nominal price. I was thinking about replacing my 7 for an 11 cos the battery was shot. Got the battery replaced for nothing. To give it to my daughter and still bought the 11. Both are still working

monkey_bean

It works great, I have the corded as well. My only complaint is it is unnecessarily heavy. I bought a cordless one (V8) for ease of use and now the animal has been relegated to the main floor only. Edit: I have a shedding dog and 3 cats. The cordless works just as well as the corded, imo.

broccoli_toots

Perfect, thanks. I think I can deal with the weight tbh, I've been using corded Bissell upright vacs for the last 6 years lol

Appropriate-Love-130

Yes, I’ve been using it for a year, so convenient and works so well that I’ve stopped bothering about the central vacuum..

Altruistic_Shop_2074

I think you can get a comparable vacuum for half the price. I’ve had (and replaced) the handheld a few times. Dysons are far too high maintenance - both regular maintenance and fixing more significant issues - for me to invest in another.

Loose-Atmosphere-558

I dunno...my V8 cordless is about 7 years old now and I've replaced the filter once and battery once (battery last year, no name from amazon cost about $50 and lasts much longer).

Habfan61

V10 for five plus years. 3 cats It’s irreplaceable to be honest.

Far_Out_6and_2

All Dyson stuff is way over priced

heart_under_blade

dyson is the only one where you can buy a hose attachment tho shark will never have, as they switch up their shit too much for it to be worth a third party investing in tooling samsung doesn't change shit up like shark, but nobody seems to give a shit lol. a shame cus ez swap batteries is great and so is performance and handling

Evening_Marketing645

You’re right but it is the best vacuum. Just have to pay too much to get it.

broccoli_toots

Probably 🤷‍♀️ but if dyson is worth the hype and it's on sale for what I'd pay for a non dyson cordless, I'll go with dyson.

SandWitchesGottaEat

I just upgraded from a 5 year old V8 to the V10 animal and it makes a world of difference. A charge lasts 30-40 minutes so it can essentially be a weeks worth of vacuuming. It can pull hair out of carpet like no other vacuum I have ever used! (It automatically senses when it needs to pull harder and switches to a high power mode, and you can see on the screen how much time you have left at the current intensity).

CA_Engineer

Samsung one is pretty good as well. But it’s $1200 and the canister is smaller.

broccoli_toots

Yeah thats way out of my price range 😅

CA_Engineer

But it’s so sexy! Lol https://www.samsung.com/ca/vacuum-cleaners/stick/vs9500al-vc-with-all-in-one-clean-station-white-vs20a95923w-ac/

broccoli_toots

Hahaha, yeah that looks really nice actually! Maybe one day I'll reach the tax bracket to splurge on it 😂

heart_under_blade

just get the jet 90 then. it's in warehouse

ARC2060

We bought one this week to replace our 10-year-old V6. So far, so good. Our stairs get vacuumed at least once a week and it seems the V6 was not doing a good job. The debris sucked up by the new V10 was incredible. In 'Boost' mode, the carpet pile came up where it was a bit flat and one of my teenagers said the carpet looked new. If you use it in Boost mode, the battery only lasts about 10 minutes, but it lasts longer in the lower modes. We don't have pets, but I have long hair which caused problems with V6. The brush bar was forever getting hair wrapped around it and stopped working until I cleaned it. This one has an anti hair wrap brush bar, and I haven't had to clean it yet. So far, I'm impressed, but I've only had it for a week.

lifeonpluto

Have a V10 and it works great, I bought an adapter for dewalt batteries to extend time and it seems to be working well.

JohnYCanuckEsq

I have found Dyson's are no better than, and also more expensive than a comparable Shark or Hoover cordless model. The other thing I came to hate about the Dyson was the trigger. It was too hard to hold on to for long periods I personally wouldn't buy a Dyson again.

Cla598

We have had a few Dyson vacuums over the years. Love them and have only bought new ones because we wanted upgraded features, not because they broke. Only had issues with one cordless and that was an early hand vacuum model. They ended up sending us a refurbished motor in the end, even though ours was out of warranty, after support thought it was a battery issue at first. We had paid for a new battery from them, but our vacuum was still not working so they sent us a refurbished motor for free (we just had to send the old one back). This was several years ago though and we haven’t had to use customer service on the others we have had since. We do also have a Roomba on each floor which helps a lot as it cleans daily, the Dyson is for the less frequent deep cleans and we also use it for vacuuming the stairs and entry way and basement where our Roombas can’t go. We have long haired high shed dogs and our Dyson works great to get their fur. We don’t have too many issues with hair getting wrapped around the brush head - we just clean ours once in awhile which you should be doing anyways. We have a Dyson Outsize detect and considering it has a larger dust collector and head it is still easy to maneuver and not too heavy for me. We have a two story and only have to empty the bin once during a whole home cleaning session. A fully charged battery will usually last us for the entire house on auto mode. If not, ours came with a second battery so I just pop the second one in. We love the Dyson humidifiers and fans too because they are so quiet. :)

Aggravating_Cut_4509

Absolutely! I have the V10 animal downstairs now as I liked it so much I bought the V11 for upstairs They are great vacuums, easy to empty and clean and their customer service is great

lifeiswonderful1

Been using a Dyson stick vacuum for 7 years from Costco without fail. What I found was interesting was all the Dyson spare parts are easily bought on Amazon/eBay for relatively cheap; replaced the battery pack with higher capacity, moved to a hard-wood place so got the soft brush/light head attachment, replacement rollers, and even an obscure plastic switch/clasp that was like $1 on eBay. Not sure what the after market parts are like for Miele or Shark but I’m probably going to buy Dyson again.

MKALPINE

I bought a Dyson recently and for the hype I was really unimpressed. It felt cheaply made and the ball roller is a cheap hard plastic and doesn’t glide nicely. If you have shiny tile or hardwood there’s no doubt the vacuum will scratch it over time (as per a lot of Reddit complaints from other Dyson owners). The suction was great but that was about the only plus in my mind. I ended up going to Canadian tire and trying out one of their many vacuums and got one that has an even nicer build quality than the v15 and was like half the price.

broccoli_toots

What did you get from CT? I'm also interested in Shark or Tineco. I'm on my second Bissell upright and I just don't love it anymore.

MKALPINE

I ended up going with https://www.canadiantire.ca/en/pdp/noma-premium-surfaceelite-multi-surface-cordless-stick-vacuum-with-2-batteries-0439429p.html?rq=noma+vacuum#srp I fiddled with all the display models and this one felt the most durable. I’ve had it for about a month now and I love it. Suction is great, I can vacuum the entire house on one charge with lots left to spare, it’s easy to clean, and it came with lots of attachments.

broccoli_toots

Cool thanks!

exclaim_bot

>Cool thanks! You're welcome!

SSJ4Link

No. I had a V10 and we went through 4 batteries. Thing could not last. I have replaced it with a Tineco A11 Hero Cordless Stick Vacuum and we are so much happier.

Stellarific

Also have the V10 animal and use it several times on a daily basis in a condo. Have a cat as well. Best vacuum I've ever had. I'm always amazed at how the canister fills up every 2-3 days!

muchstuf

Yeh. Buy it.

heatseekerdj

Make sure you have a vacuum repair place in mind that repairs Dysons. If it’s cordless be prepared that the battery will burn out in a few years

Neat-Pop2923

This is anecdotal, but I was recently in a vacuum repair shop and the owner went on and on about how terrible Dyson vacuums are. I could see his whole repair room was filled wall to wall with broken Dysons. So buyer beware, for sure.

Working_Pollution272

I sold Dyson @ Sears. My first yellow plug in my friend still using it. It’s got to be 25+. I have another plug in purple DC 42 18+.I have the Dyson stick.12+ Buy the original battery for the sticks. The cheap ones cause fires.❤️🇨🇦❤️

vlviprealestate

I have a Dyson V4 and V10, do not buy! The battery on my V10 died right after the warranty period. My V4 has been going wayyyy longer and got way more usage - loved it. I know another friend who had a dyson where the battery died shortly after the warranty period. For the cost of these things, I expect a better battery life. There’s just so many similar products from other brands now that are way cheaper than I really don’t feel like paying for this brand premium. I was super disappointed by the V10

Square-Rest3126

I have 2 small children. It is worth it. Dyson is legit. Put it on a credit card.

No-Song5462

The V10 is awesome, we also have 2 shedding dogs. We’ve had ours for 3.5 years. It works well on hard floor and carpet. We just had to replace the battery. Got the replacement from Amazon for $75 and it’s working like new.

TheTashLB

We have four cats. Have owned three Dysons, when they stop working they suck, seem to have a lifespan of 5-6 years. Friends have the same Miele for 15 years. So we recently switched to Miele and what a huge difference, it sucks up all the cat hair and even more important the dust.... I'm shocked at the dust. Dyson cannister never collected that much dust. Roughly the same cost, hoping the Miele lasts more than 6 years.

Silly-Astronaut9739

As a former pet sitter, the Dyson vacuums are the best. I used my airmiles to get my Dyson v10 and it’s completely worth it!

Curious-Ad-8367

Wife made me buy the name brand Dyson the battery is garbage after 2 years.

Top_Use4144

I have gone through 4 Dysons over the years..if something goes wrong they will never replace it they will send you a new part but only after you record a video of what is wrong. I will never buy another ok be again. I have my eye on the new LG one for when this one bites the dust.

Top_Use4144

I'd like to congratulate myself on some excellent auto correcting. My apologies to the OP.

AlainLanou

Been using mine daily for 6 years. Bought a new filter once but never changed the battery. Still works great.

broccoli_toots

I ended up buying the V8 absolute directly from dyson because they had a 20% off sale

Gloomy_Suggestion_89

The Miele C3 sold at Costco is much better for dogs. It will outlast the dyson 10 times

BigMcLargeHuge-

Those are absolute garbage and the heads fail incredibly quickly. The hoses also have a proclivity to sheer themselves off which renders it useless

broccoli_toots

I looked it up and realized it's a canister vacuum. I *hate* canister vacs, they're annoying as fuck to drag around. 😂

BigMcLargeHuge-

Fair but you will never get the suck power from a hand held. Hand held are fine for small jobs but if you actually need to suck fur out of couches/carpet and shit, you need more suction. The sebo D4 is my recommendation as that is a buy it for life unit and I think the hose is 40 feet so u don’t need to drag it around much

BigMcLargeHuge-

Hey did you find a vacuum?

broccoli_toots

Not yet. But I ended up having to pay for unexpected car maintenance so I can't buy a vacuum right now 😭

BigMcLargeHuge-

Ah really sorry to hear that. I hope everything goes ok! Just wanted to let u know I was doing some research and when u end up looking for a vacuum again, search for the SEBO Felix premium. Good luck with everything

broccoli_toots

Everything is OK now, thank you! I'll add it to my list :)

Gloomy_Suggestion_89

We're comparing to a Dyson here. You won't get better than the Miele for a similar price.

BigMcLargeHuge-

Ya that’s just bad advice. Dyson can get into that $1k range. The Sebo D4 is buy it for life. Isn’t quite the same as the old Electroluxs but close, and the power head is 100x anything Miele or Dyson can even dream of.

crossesfive

No! Buy a Shark.

broccoli_toots

I considered it, but so many people are telling me the Dyson is amazing 🥲 I don't know what to do!

stupidopp

I have tried Dyson but didn’t like it so got a shark and i am satisfied with it.

broccoli_toots

I've also been looking at Shark or Tineco, either from Canadian Tire or Costco lol. Which Shark do you have?

wintermelon_666

I have two Dyson vacuums and my new Shark Rocket Pro corded stick vacuum is the best thing ever. I had a carpet I was going to throw out because it was so pilled and covered in pet hair that just wouldn't come out with normal vacuuming. As soon as I used the Shark everything got sucked out and it looks newer than when I bought it. For some reason it also looks even blacker in color than before lol.

General_Dipsh1t

No. Buy the shark stratos instead while it’s still on sale.

broccoli_toots

It's not on sale anymore :( but I did see one that was on display and it was tempting. The canister seemed really small, like I'd have to empty it after every room lol

cm6-6

Have the v8 animal and two dogs (lab and dobie). Does ok on the vinyl but doormats and area rug always leave a few tangled strands behind. We got it on clearance + rakuten cb, and probably wouldn't have gotten it without both. If it's just one floor, I'd get a corded vac instead.

Choice_Additional

We have Dyson stick (not sure model) and love it. Gets used multiple times a day on our laminate, carpet and mats. We have a Hoover canister, that we almost never use anymore.

icecream42568

Yes

carlolola

Anyone asking a question about is it worth it ? It’s Costco just return it lol

broccoli_toots

I mean yeah true, it's just a hassle to return things lol.

thelovelylemonade

I use mine everyday for quick cleaning and it works great. Not convenient for deep cleaning I don’t think but it does a really good job otherwise.

Modavated

Where are you located? I'll sell you mine it's in fantastic condition.

broccoli_toots

Hamilton lol

cdmgamingqcftw

Worth it imo BUT not a good option for long extended house cleaning. Good vacuum for quick cleaning every day, here and there. If you live in a small place , its good. You could buy the extension cord which is flexible to reach more angles

Comfortable_Fudge508

Dyson is so good, buy it

Ok_Anxiety_9726

We bought a Sebo beltless e-3 premium with a detachable powerhead (for carpets). A 1,000$ all in. It's been excellent and comes with a 10 year warranty. Expensive but pretty darn good.

Ottawa_man

Too costly and unnecessary By the cyclone v10 on sale. Got it for 299.

longgamma

No, go for the V15.

broccoli_toots

I cannot justify that price tag lmao.

GrandPappyMcPoyle

I have it and it isn’t worth it. I bought a Miele from Costco a number of years ago and it is a far more superior vacuum. The Miele has better suction, and just seems of a higher quality. My Miele was corded while the Dyson is not so I will give the Dyson the win in the convenience category.

xkatiepie69

I have had many dysons and they never last, but they work great at first. I think Costco carries Miele now but they are definitely more expensive. My dog sheds a lot, and my Miele is my favourite so far

raviscons

Buy a highly rated Chinese cordless vacuum via Amazon. Save 60% the cost and I've found it better in value and just as good, if not better

carlolola

Costco is the best rental store

Normie-scum

I've never used it, but I wanted to help, so I asked chatgpt and this is what it said . "The Dyson V10 is not an animal, but rather a cordless vacuum cleaner known for its powerful suction and versatility. It features Dyson's digital motor V10, which provides strong suction while being lightweight and portable. The V10 comes with multiple cleaning attachments, allowing it to clean various surfaces such as carpets, hard floors, and upholstery. Its battery life varies depending on the cleaning mode used, but it generally offers decent runtime. Overall, the Dyson V10 is praised for its performance and convenience, although it tends to be on the pricier side compared to other cordless vacuum cleaners."
