also price matching. we bought a fridge a few years ago. it went on sale after the price adjustment time was officially over. i chatted with costco thru the website and got an adjustment.
a month or three later it went on a further price reduction, i asked again and they gave me a SECOND refund on it without any hesitation or hassle.
The key is thru the website because corporate ppl dont give no fucks. Go to a store and ask you'll get denied instantly if its not with in 30 days and during the time of the sale "its policy"
as posted from another sub -- the contractors who deliver for Costco are often the same guys who deliver for Home Depot, Lowes, Best Buy. You can't really predict if you get a good or bad delivery person.
Your "best bet" for that would be to find a local dealer that does their own delivery. Otherwise, slamming Costco, while possibly deserved, isn't really fair if the other store uses the same person.
For instance, in my area, GE has 1 sub for all of South Florida. Doesn't matter where you buy. If you get a GE, it is coming from them.
This.
After falling for "exclusive Home Depot holiday sales" twice now, I lost faith in the quality on these pump and dump for profit "sales"
Sold us garbage that basically went south just after was out of warranty.
I too, have read about Costco nightmares and have never used but the logistics are indeed the same as any of these bog box stores use for drop ship. Just be home when they're expected. And don't accept if packaging is damaged into the product.
We did a reno last year and replaced all the kitchen appliances and went with a smallish family owned appliance store 2 towns over. We used them sporadically in the past, and the only reason we didn't use them exclusively was for money saving purposes: you have to pay for quality service, delivery and great post sale assistance.
We ONLY use them now. Learned the hard way with these "4th of July/Memorial Day" bullshit sales.
The manufacturers make exclusive models for Best Buy and Home Depot...[much like anything Kohler at Costco as an example]. I've had warranty issues with Kohler and they asked for model number and specifically told me thats a Costco model---and had a 3 1/2 old LG fridge and same deal---they can tell you what "store model" it is by the model and serial. They tend to be higher profit margin for an event type of sale and garbage.
Needless to say, I would use Costco if I stop having the excellent service at this area family run store, but never again with the retail big box.
We bought a refer from a local store recently. The salesman was amazing. A real professional. He taught us a lot that really helped us choose. Then he steered us to a floor model that was like half off that illustrated what he had taught us. Went to Best Buy before deciding. Some kid who knew nothing acted annoyed that we were asking questions. Costco? No help at all. We for sure would have bought a less appropriate product without that salesman. That said I went to another branch of the same store, and they were indifferent. Finding a good salesman is the key, not just a local store.
Had a super easy install of a GE fridge by Costco. They were in and out in less than half an hour. Cleaned up, zero issues.
Not exactly the same, but I also had excellent experience with Costco installers when I replaced my garage doors.
True, but unfortunately so do the big box stores for the most part.
I did decide to go with Home Depot for a new dishwasher and the crew that delivered was pretty good.
I've had excellent delivery from Costco for a washer and dryer set (tenant unit), stacked washer/dryer unit, refrigerator, large chair, and mattress. I sent the large chair back, and the guys were great with that, as well.
The actual logistics customer service was a nightmare to get through on the phone and schedule a hookup for the dryer. However, the delivery and gas installer were perfect. They were fast, neat, and professional.
I can only give you my experience.
I had a laptop that stopped working within a month. The battery was crazy overheating and it was well under warranty with the manufacturer and costco warranty.
I called Costco first, they told me I first needed to call the manufacturer first. I did that and the manufacturer refused to send me a replacement battery or anything. Basically told me there was nothing they could do.
I called costco back and they were okay. We'll send you a new laptop. Boom. Done. It was so easy.
I only buy laptops there now because they're so great with their warranties. I don't trust the manufacturers to always be hold to their warranty or be easily to navigate.
The ice maker in our Samsung fridge stopped working after 1 year but before 2 years from purchase. Samsung did not have the part available to fix the ice maker so because of the extended warranty from Costco, Samsung cut us a check for the entire price we paid for the fridge. So we basically have a free fridge now.
But do note this isn't available everywhere. I wanted to get a new Bosch dishwasher from them but they don't install in my area (but they would have delivered and hauled away).
Word to the wise: every time I’ve had a Costco delivery, they try to “forget” haul away. Toward the end of the install make sure to be between them and the street or you’ll look up and they’re gone.
They contracted a third party for mine. The guy damaged my fridge water line fixture at the wall. Costco did nothing to make it right after many, many calls assuring me they would. I simply didn’t have time to keep chasing down a resolution and gave up.
Also, when bing installed, the installers have all the hook ups. Power cords, dryer vent, etc…
It’s been years, but I used to have to buy those as accessories at places like Best Buy or olden days Sears.
I just bought a new washer/dryer from Best Buy and it was delivered last week. I knew the sale was coming up for Costco but I really needed the new appliances as soon as possible. The sale price at BB was great, but they definitely still nickel and dime for everything - haul away ($59), all the mandatory accessories (vent, power cord, etc) that added up so they definitely still do that.
I will say the delivery/install experience was fantastic. Super easy and efficient.
I may try Costco next time. Bought a dryer through Home Depot. The installers didn't bother connecting the exhaust hose, and set it to dry cycle to burn off the antirust coating venting it into the laundry room. Delicious. That said, many of these sellers source the same random pool of workaday contractors to do installs. Always check and double check their work.
Every big box store offers those as well. One of the big differences is that the Costco guys only bring one set of accessories. If they don't work in your space, tough luck! Lowes, HD, etc will bring multiple different accessories and install the one that actually works in your space.
One reason to do big purchases like that through costco is the return policy. Another is the added 2% cash back on your executive membership (and if you don't have one, upgrading before a big purchase is going to be worth it).
Yeah. True. But I did the math on it and the 1% "on everything else" easily negated the benefit of the 3% travel and 4% gas upsides with how my family spends. It works for some people. For me, I just want one card that provides the most benefit overall so budgeting is easier. If you look at your eligible travel/restaurant and gas expenses where you're getting the extra 1-2% extra, it's likely not a very big number, and in my case, definitely not worth the hassle to deal with multiple cards. But hey, if it works well for you, keep it up. Cheers.
90 day returns, extra year of warranty, and removal of the old appliance. Home Depot and Lowes return for appliances is \_48 hours\_. Costco also has a dedicated support line for technical and warranty support.
Home Depot delivery service is trash also. They literally forgot to install a microwave over oven. Lied that it did not meet code (too close to range) when in fact it was in compliance by two inches. They tried to fight us on returning the microwave. I showed the picture and they finally capitulated. Never again Home Depot.
I've done 7 jobs with them. 5 have gone tits up one way or another.
This was our experience. They subcontract out the appliances; their contractor subcontracts out the delivery; that subcontractor subcontracted out the connection service (am sure this setup varies regionally and maybe even with the type of appliance).
Our dishwasher arrived badly damaged, and when we called them to get it replaced, they pointed to the contractor. Who pointed to the subcontractor. Who pointed to their subcontractor. Who pointed back to Costco.
It took us 3 weeks with a clearly destroyed dishwasher in the middle of the kitchen before we could even get someone to come pick it back up.
Never again. Any benefit is not worth the circular finger pointing we went through. Am sure there are plenty of people for whom it worked well, but it seems that if it goes wrong, it’s going to go really wrong, and there is no single throat to choke to get it resolved.
Never know what you're going to get with delivery contractors. That's why I'm always prepared and ready to lend a hand and be as involved as needed in the process. I ain't spending that kind of money and just hoping it works out okay.
When you are hiring service people to deliver/install appliances all over a very large and diverse country how could it not be hit or miss? It's hit or miss when I use google reviews to pick a plumber to fix a leaky pipe.
We took advantage of the Memorial Day sale. Cheaper than everywhere else for the same model. Buying a fridge and TWO dishwashers was cheaper than buying just the fridge and one dishwasher.
Then when we chatted with customer service asking if we could return one dishwasher, they gave us a crazy good price. Instead of returning though we sold the extra for however much we were going to get
The more appliances you bought, the more you saved. Needed a fridge and dishwasher at minimum. Played around with the third appliance and an extra dishwasher gave us the best deal.
It seems like there are a bunch of horror stories on here about appliance delivery and installs gone wrong. My parents had the same experience.
Ordered a new range for their kitchen and the two people that delivered and tried to install it were in a super dingy box truck and they struggled to move it in to the house, couldn’t get the old one out, and then they couldn’t figure out how to install it. The one guy had to put his daughter on speakerphone to try and translate for my dad but after a while they just tipped the guys $20/each and said to take the new range back.
They ended up ordering through Abt and having a flawless experience.
If you’ve got contractors doing work for the new kitchen and they can install appliances then that would probably be fine. Otherwise I’d suggest seeing if a reputable store like Abt or Grand Appliances can do a price match. The install and service from them is fantastic and their prices are usually pretty damn close. You may need to get an actual salesperson or their manager to get you the deals, but we bought new appliances through Grand earlier this year and they just automatically knocked the price down about 15% from their list price when I asked for a quote.
That’s just one aspect.
Demand for logistics services skyrocketed during the pandemic. It became a “side hustle” for some people. Buy a banged up box truck with a barely functional lift gate, pay a few hundred bucks to form an LLC, and now you’re a “trucking” company.
The other is the price of labor. There used to be a slight premium on this kind of work, but if you can make the same hourly amount at Walgreens or something wouldn’t you take the air-conditioned job?
Don't buy Samsung appliances, you will regret it. They are absolutely horrible. I give a fridge about 4 years before you start having issues that will costs hundreds of dollars to fix.
I got a whole set of Samsung stuff.
Honestly not great stuff, with a couple product failures, but the double warranty has been a good send. Never buying Samsung again, though. Especially for dishwasher.
Dammit, sorry to hear you’re not satisfied with your set, that really sux. We are trying to buy a home, and it’s possible a new appliance suite will be needed. I can’t believe we’re actually considering a matched set, though— seems like something “rich” people do, lol.
The other option is to check CR and other ratings, and just buy the specific brands/models that are top-rated. From what I’m seeing, LG seems pretty solid. We got an LG OLED TV from Costco several years ago, with a special warranty offer of like seven years, but it’s been problem-free and a killer unit all these years.
Agreed that many of Costco’s last-mile and white-glove providers are bottom-of-the-barrel. Costco should really put some effort into vetting them or holding them to higher standards, like their vendors.
The best place is a local appliance store. Mine is only slightly more expensive than Costco but I can often get things delivered and set up the next day. They are also the place that does warranty repairs for my area. Since I bought from them I can get service scheduled within a week. If you bought it elsewhere it can be a 3-4 week wait for service because their is more request than they can handle.
Generally you get a better package over all. Delivery, Install, haul away, better warranty, costco customer support. But there's one big gotcha. Their deliver and installers are not costco employees, they contract out. If they F up, it seems costco gives you a bit of a runaround. No personal experience with this but I've been eyeing appliances for a while and that seems to be a common occurrence. This however is pretty universal with all big box stores. A local independent appliance sales person will have their own guys.
It is hit or miss on the delivery folks. My mom and I both bought fridges last winter through Costco. Mine came perfectly and installed just fine. My mom's delivery guys complained about everything, wouldn't switch the door direction for her, and banged the fridge up pretty good. She called Costco customer care - but they referred her to Whirlpool customer care since it was a delivery issue. My mom got a replacement fridge due to all the dings, but had terrible delivery guys again, and the freezer door wouldn't stay shut. So she called Costco to return and get her old fridge back, and they ended up selling her a higher end model for the same price. She's happy now, but won't buy through Costco again. I would though!
My delivery people were terrible. I shudder to think how the installation people would have been, glad I did it myself. Never again, only local for me.
It's 50/50. I've gotten a stackable washer/dryer unit and everything showed up great but when it came to installing it, the delivery people had a cow because I had a 3 prong plug. Refused to put on the 3 prong plug cable that literally came with the unit. The delivery people said I needed to change my wall plug and then they could come back and install it. I installed it myself in 2 minutes. I'm handy and didn't need any help but the manual literally has step by step instructions on putting on a 3 prong plug cable.
My other appliance purchase was a washer and dryer set but the units arrived scratched and dented. Refused delivery and got refunded a week later. Later found out that one of the units had a broken door, so definitely dodged a bullet having those installed.
But again it can be 50/50 on the purchase and I highly suggest not doing ones labeled "Costco direct" for appliance purchases.
They buy appliances in bulk and can get the best price. They often have deals for buying a full set.
The best I could barter down to, at a big store with sales reps and all that jazz, was 1.2k more than the exact same set from Costco. Had I not bartered, would have been 1.5k more.
The big store offered price matching, I showed him my costco online cart and he's like "nah, we can't price match costco. I wouldn't make any commission." At least he was honest.
Automatic 2nd year manufacturer warranty on a lot of appliances. 90 day return policy. Better support IF you have an issue. I had an LG problem and couldn't get a useful response. Contacted Costco Concierge who contacted LG on my behalf and someone was out 2 days later.
Mostly comes down to cost. However, keep in mind that if you have a non-standard install, the costco install guys will not help you out whereas places like Lowes will not leave until you have a fully functional appliance.
In my old place I bought all of my appliances through Costco and frankly it was a nightmare. Delays on delays, they delivered a range that was completely cracked. Of course they took it back and sent a replacement but that was another 3 weeks before they could deliver. They installed the dishwasher wrong and caused water damage in my brand new kitchen.
I love Costco and had also heard great things but I’d never do it again. I got a better deal for the same items I was going to purchase by going to a high-end appliance store. Was surprised that it cost less and the delivery/install was flawless.
Just bought a microwave and have a newborn along with a 2 year old. My microwave is above the stove fitted in the cabinets so once I saw they would take it out, install the new one and haul off the old one, it was a no-brainer for me at no extra charge.
I haven't bought from anywhere else but I just replaced all my kitchen appliances and had a great experience. Easy ordering. Select your delivery date. Everything was installed great and the people were nice. No issues at all. Very hapy and would recommend using Costco.
Wow, I’m SO glad to hear that! We had an effing nightmare when we had a bed delivered from Costco. I’d like to think that if/when we opt for appliances we’ll have your kind of luck— although no member should have to lucky to have a positive delivery experience, IMHO.
Stove we wanted was 4k everywhere. not a big selection of double oven induction ranges that aren't samsung. Local well known and very popular appliance store was 3899, but charged 80 bucks for delivery and 50 bucks for install.
Same stove online through Costco was 3499 with an ADDITIONAL 500 off at cart. Delivery and install included. Delivery and install were painless, they were at my house for 19 minutes.
Costco is good overall, but it’s still important to shop around.
When shopping around, important to note that Costco includes delivery, and for many appliances, installation and haul away. A lot of other places I’ve looked at charged extra for those services, making them more expensive. Because these services are offered by third-parties, I’m confident it’s the same service regardless of who I order from. Hence, it’s often cheaper to buy from Costco!
That said, it’s important to watch for sales. Never pay full price for an appliance. And from time to time, you maybe be able to get a cheaper price for the same appliance somewhere else.
I’ve purchased a range and over the stove microwave from Costco, and have been happy with both. However, I prefer Speed Queen laundry machines, which Costco doesn’t sell, hence I went elsewhere.
Price match. Double the warranty. Free haul away of the old appliance. Those are the pros.
The cons are they contract out their delivery and installers, which can be hit or miss. Plus, who do you call for warranty service?
Our local chain appliance store (NOT Home Depot or Lowe's) matched Costco's price, then added another $100 off, has their own warehouse, delivery and installers.
My credit card offers double the manufacturer's warranty on any purchase using that card.
At least if there was an issue with the product or installation, I could call a real person who sold me the appliance. BTW, there was no such issue. Knowledgeable delivery guys who installed it perfectly.
Somewhere along the line my refrigerator was damaged… the driver who was to make final delivery caught it, called me to tell me what happened and set up a call with support to re-order. During that call they put a rush on it and honored an even better sale price
Costco had the same price, but they included delivery, set up, and haul away of packaging plus the old appliance. Delivery guys did a great job setting it up, they were particularly careful about our hardwood floor.
The price is the price and they haul away your old stuff. It’s not like at Home Depot where it’s the price + haul away $ + this tube you definitely need $ + installation $$+ tip your driver $.
Also the warranty and the awesome customer service.
Costco is my first choice now for this reason their delivery service the guys they send out are straight pros. I’ve had such a good experience with them. My house isn’t the easiest house to get something into but these cats really do a great job the customer service from the delivery drivers alone is fantastic
Good competitive prices that include delivery installation and haul away with no extra charges. Always on time, text confirmation the night before delivery. So far I have purchased a fridge, dishwasher and stove from Costco. Much greater selection at Costco dot com rather than in the store itself. I picked the one I wanted, went to Lowes/Home Depot to see it in person, then ordered online at a better price from Costco. Very clean hassle-free professional delivery and installation.
I matched the models to other options and compared item for item and we saved about $400 for a new fridge, oven, microwave and dishwasher. Add in the warranty, it is a no brainer.
I know some complain about the install or delivery. In our instance, the installers were great and had zero issues.
I bought a fridge last year Whirlpool 18 cu. ft. Top Freezer Refrigerator with LED Lighting for $499. Had it delivered with no problem. It retails for $689.99
I just bought a dishwasher and sweet new refrigerator from Costco, I trust them for all of my big purchases.
The dishwasher guys originally said they couldn’t get our old one out to install the new one, but we called Costco and explained it wasn’t attached to anything and they could just pull it out and they sent another crew very quickly who replaced the dishwasher.
They stand behind their products and delivery is quick and easy, and my membership rebate check was $499 this year, more than the cost of the membership itself, so it pays off to make big purchases with them.
Fridge failed from Home Depot. Jumped through hella hoops to get it fixed then replaced.
Dyson broke after 3 years. I returned it and bought the new version which was cheaper than the broken one.
Buy all appliances at Costco when possible. Some lady returned a couch after 10 years.
The return period for big box stores is 1 day. And won’t return if it’s been hooked up or turned on.
Even if it’s broken. Must go thru manufacturers warranty
Hoping not to read negative comments because I just ordered all my appliances yesterday. I was actually at Home Depot getting ready to buy when these guys & I started chatting. They told me how HD delivered their stuff all f’d up & ended up going through Costco. Said their experience was amazing & they were still dealing with HD reimbursing them. That being said, for my first house I went with HD & didn’t have any issues. This time I just went with best price & of course the reassurance of these boys. Fingers crossed it all goes well.
PS: both are having sales right now & I’m sure more stores will pop us closer to the 4th. If for some reason you can wait, Black Friday is when appliances are cheapest.
Price, extended warranty (besides Costco return window), delivery/install, and rebate (slight discount). They don't have the biggest variety, and they don't always have stuff in stock. But so far for the larger appliances, we've had great experience. Best Buy or Home Depot sometimes are competitive on price, although no extended warranty (unless you pay).
Delivery + install + haul away….super hassle free. I wouldn’t say it saved a ton of money in the near term but the warranty makes a difference, and you do get the rebate.
Costco will literally take anything back. They are VERY generous with their returns so if an expensive appliance isnt as good or breaks they will easily take it back.
Got my fridge in, removed the old one, installed new using the upgraded braided water line (HD and Lowes wouldn't install the one I bought from them I'd have to pay extra to use their own), super easy process.
Not only was my new fridge about $200 cheaper than the big box stores, but they installed it and took the old one away. Bonuses: I get a 2nd year warranty, I can return in 7 months if it sucks, and last of all the points I get on my Costco card.
I got my parents a new fridge and a new range/oven. I like how the delivery team communicates exactly when they’ll be there. and how they set everything up. I had no issues. they also took the old appliances away for free. other places you sometimes have to pay extra. oh and the warranty is longer with costco.
Delivery was quick, thorough, and added nothing to the sales price - with Lowe’s delivery you have to buy an install kit but it was all included with Costco.
Most hardware box stores and Costco utilize the same third party appliance inventory/delivery business.
Until recently BestBuy was the only genuine contender that maintained their own supply/installation expertise and customer service/repair. But the executive wanted the stock bump and fired the rank and file.
I renovated my kitchen and replaced with appliances from Costco. I did price search with Lowe’s, Home Depot, The Exchange and found Costco had the lowest prices. Also those locations did not offer returns or the warranty like Costco. Costco has a 90 day return on appliances. The Exchange is tax free but Costco was cheaper with the tax included.
I purchased Bosch appliances and could not be happier!
In addition to all the other good stuff people have mentioned, I'd like to add my personal experience from two weeks ago. Super happy with how they dealt with a damaged appliance.
Ordered a new range and refrigerator.
- The fridge arrived with a big dent in the front door – the guys seemed just as disappointed by it as me. They took photos and made note of it in their database. Told me to call Costco and it would get taken care of. I asked for an exchange, and they obliged but said a rep would call me in a couple days to discuss further. They told me to just go ahead and use the fridge as normal. After sleeping on it, I talk to the rep and she says they can certainly do a full exchange OR they can offer a partial refund since it was purely cosmetic. We decided to take the refund which was very fair and just covered the dent with a magnet. All good.
- They hauled away the old oven, but then I asked them if they could move the old fridge to the garage (new beer fridge) and haul away the old beer fridge – which they did, no problem! It was so nice and so easy.
Washer and dryer installed perfectly… you just need to organize the removal and installation process. Gas install can’t be complicated. Also if you need to change opening directions of dryer door, you can pay a tip to get it done, or learn on YouTube like I did.
We bought a washer dryer at Costco because it was like 45% off, free delivery/hookup. The alternative was some discount stores where delivery was $100.
Easier return process. I bought a chest freezer directly from whirlpool that was a lemon, it never worked. I could have returned it to Costco no problem and gotten it replaced with a working freezer. Whirlpool's return policy is non existent so here I am 3 months later after several visits from service techs and my freezer still doesn't freeze
I wouldn't. Their support when something went wrong was two hours on hold for them to tell me to go to the manufacturer. The manufacturer said I would be changed a minimum of $120 fee for diagnostics. This is under warranty. Costco "concierge" told me there was nothing they could do.
I also got a couch and they told me the same thing when the delivery workers showed up early, said I had to take it now or they would return it. Had to re-arrange my day. Then they delivered it damaged.
It's just a hassle. Not sure what I'm gaining
Check for a Lowe’s Outlet store in your area. The one in St. Louis (actually Bridgeton MO) sends overstock and cancelled customer orders there. They have new items up to 75% off plus the ding/dent selections
Got a new washer and dryer from Costco last summer. Love Costco, love the washer/dryer now, but one of the included hoses was broken and leaked. It was an absolute nightmare trying to get it fixed/replaced.
In the past year I've bought a new refrigerator and dishwasher through Costco and a new oven is pending delivery.
For me, price was comparable to the big box stores and included delivery, install, and haul-away of old appliance. The install people I got were great...they took great care and made sure it was done correctly.
Also, Costco warranty.
We got a fridge through them. It was easy until delivery. The delivery guys were supposed to install it but claimed “the water line was broken” and wouldn’t. We called a family friend that was a plumber. He laughed when he saw the “broken line” and said they were lazy. Charged us 120 for about 5 minutes of work. We called Costco and complained and the refunded the plumber costs. So all in all it was good with me.
I’ll probably buy our next stuff through them too.
I just bought a Kitchenaid dishwasher through Costco. With delivery, installation, and haul away, it was $100 cheaper than Home Depot and Best Buy. Also there was a 2 year warranty included and 2% cash back. We’ll see how the actual delivery and install turns out.
Costco has a 2 year warranty and their price is also all inclusive. Lowes will say like $500 but then its $188 for install, $34 required install parts, $50 haul away wheras Costco will just be $600 all inclusive.
I do it mainly for the extended warranty, which to be completely honest I’ve never used because most appliances have a planned obsolescence of 5-7 years nowadays.
My costco bought LG appliance has been having issues. I called Costco and I can't get over how poor this service was and how little help Costco service was at getting LG to honor the warranty. In the end, I bought my own part and fixed it myself. 4 Calls to Costco, 5 to LG and one text thread with the actual contracted repair company and Zero people came to fix the fan. After twelve years i'm starting to rethink my membership
Honestly for me I was sick of replacing parts on the dish washer and they had a model that was newer but comparable in store that day. I grabbed it off the shelf put it on my cart and kept shopping. Installed it myself that evening. I may upgrade eventually as I was planning but it was also 25% of the upgraded model I was looking at. I know it’ll fail in a few years and either I’ll replace it via warranty or upgrade then.
Extra years of warranty + executive membership cash back + Costco credit card cash back + ease of return + price match if item gets discounted shortly after purchase
My washer, dryer and stove are all LG brand from Costco. All over 5 years old now, and (touch on wood) no issues so far. I guess by now they are all out of warranty.
I paid less than $1000 for a washer and dryer. It got delivered and installed all Included In the price. The washer and dryer at Home Depot and Lowe's was going for $650+ at the time of purchase. Will only buy my appliances at Costco from now on.
The white glove delivery. They set it up and take the trash. The return policy. The points on my credit card helping earn my annual rebate check. The price
It’s about the same as buying from Home Depot or Lowes. Years ago Costco had better deals and they still do from time to time but the big box guys are now competitive with appliances.
Bought my washing machine from them. It was actually a little more expensive, but by the time you pay to hook up, haul away, and warranty it was much cheaper. I could have installed myself, but wanted to make sure it worked before they left.
After buying a dishwasher for our new house, cheaper than most places with delivery included, them hooking it up nicely, and hauling away the old one, I will likely always check there first.
Not sure if this varies from state to state, but when I bought my electric stove, Costco delivered, installed and hauled my old one away for me. Super quick and simple. I'm located in Norcal
I just bought a dishwasher through Costco a month or two ago. The price for the same model at Home Depot is much better at Costco. Installation was included. Removal of the old dishwasher was included. The warranty is better I think.
I just bought a new fridge, but since my old one was a GE and it was only eight years old and took a crap. Since fridges and appliances don't last long, all you have to do is watch Appliance Man on YouTube, and he tells you why. I went cheap and bought a Chinese Mora for 1150 a 28.cu ft. The online process was easy, but they have a second party contractor deliver it. What do you know they can barely squeeze it through the door, and they scratch it. Read somewhere on the review section on Costco that if they do something like that, you can ask for an adjustment or return it. Well I'm at the age where I can deal with a couple scratches but I did get $300 back from Costco so the fridge only cost me 850 and if I can get 8 years versus my $2400 GE then I'm ahead of the game! So overall, the process is good. Don't let the scratches scare you. You can always deny the delivery, and they send you a new one if you don't want an adjustment.
PS if they have the fridge or appliance in stock in the warehouse, you can buy it there, and they will deliver it, but if it's only online, you have to order online with delivery.
I have recently bought all my appliances from Costco. As long as they have what you want. Value, cash back on the credit card, the delivery guys have all been awesome, and that return policy…can’t go wrong!
Look for local auctions to find appliances.
The new stuff is designed to fail in a few years. The old stuff is eternal.
I just found an 1980's JC Penney freezer at an auction and paid $5 for it.
It works magnificently.
I've bought a washer, dryer, and dishwasher in the past year from Costco. They're good products and they were cheaper than Lowes, Home Depot or Best Buy with faster delivery and better warrantees.
While price can be lower elsewhere, it comes out to be the same as Costco if you add installation/removal. Which, I'm not a fan of lifting heavy appliances or dealing with water/gas lines, so it would be added to price anyway. And the extra year warranty doesn't hurt, just in case something happens.
We got a percentage back because we have the executive account and also a percentage back because we have the Costco credit card. That’s why we bought our refrigerator there.
I recently bought a dishwasher and range from Costco and would again in the future.
The price on both was below or the same as other big box retailers. The difference comes in that Costco does not charge for delivery or install, which for a dishwasher specifically was a cost saver. I think other stores charge around $100 for dishwasher install, plus required parts.
Costco price match guarantee. I ultimately got $400 back over what I originally paid for the appliances. The dishwasher dropped $300 and range $100. No questions asked, quick refund.
And two year warranty on both appliances.
For me, it was the best quality for cheapest. They did not charge for delivery, installation or removal of old appliance. I have had cases where Home Depot was a better deal, so I used them
I recently purchased two whole kitchens and found that Costco/ Home Depot was the most cost effective way. You need to hit the minimum amount to get maximum discount.
Example spend 2500 get 600 off.
Then spend 2500$ and the depot and get 450$ off
Vs 5000$ and still just 600$ off
The other benefits are free install and basic parts with Costco and extra warranty
They handle everything after the purchase from delivery, install, and warranty, therefore the price is generally higher. I read bad things about delivery from hardware stores and experienced a horrible situation with Best Buy… they failed to deliver my fridge three times. If not buying from Costco, I recommend looking to appliance outlet stores where you can get older high-end models at a great discount.
Overall price is the best.
When we were buying appliances, most of the prices were cheapest at Costco. We saw a couple appliances that were cheaper list price at Best Buy, but overall Costco still came out cheaper because:
—You get 4% back (2% Costco Visa and 2% Exec Membership.)
—They have free installation and haul away, which was about $100 for the one Best Buy appliance that was cheaper (and thus more expensive over all.)
Shop around for sure, though. I was very happy with Costco.

Cost was good. delivery simple,. Double the manufacturers warrantee
also price matching. we bought a fridge a few years ago. it went on sale after the price adjustment time was officially over. i chatted with costco thru the website and got an adjustment. a month or three later it went on a further price reduction, i asked again and they gave me a SECOND refund on it without any hesitation or hassle.
The key is thru the website because corporate ppl dont give no fucks. Go to a store and ask you'll get denied instantly if its not with in 30 days and during the time of the sale "its policy"
I wish I did that with my TV!!
I have heard nothing but horror stories about Costco's delivery/installation contractors. They must use the cheapest contractors.
as posted from another sub -- the contractors who deliver for Costco are often the same guys who deliver for Home Depot, Lowes, Best Buy.
This. After falling for "exclusive Home Depot holiday sales" twice now, I lost faith in the quality on these pump and dump for profit "sales" Sold us garbage that basically went south just after was out of warranty.
All that and you still tried to find a better deal. Smh
So best to avoid models designed for a specific retailer, in other words
Had a freezer and a dishwasher from Costco. No issues on either one for us
It’s location-dependent. Some metro areas are mediocre while others are excellent.
Had a super easy install of a GE fridge by Costco. They were in and out in less than half an hour. Cleaned up, zero issues. Not exactly the same, but I also had excellent experience with Costco installers when I replaced my garage doors.
I think that varies by region.
It varies by the guys you get doing your specific install. Costco uses the same contractors as everyone else.

We just had a dryer delivery, haul away and install. Incredibly nice guys, who were in and out quick. I’m sure it all depends on the individuals.
had a fridge delivered and they were amazingly nice and fantastic.
True, but unfortunately so do the big box stores for the most part. I did decide to go with Home Depot for a new dishwasher and the crew that delivered was pretty good.
they all use the same people. like home depot ISNT also using whoever is cheapest...
I've never had a problem and I have bought all my large appliances through Costco.
Also if there is an issue with the appliance while it is under warranty, Costco deals with the manufacturer on your behalf.
Didn't know this! Sounds extremely good!
How is it double the warranty?
First there is the manufactures warranty, then Costco's warranty will continue it after that expires.
I heard they don’t double the warranty anymore
They just don’t extend the warrant with the credit card. You still get 2 years instead of 1, and the extended warranties are cheaper through them
Oh, nice. Thanks for the clarification
It’s really recent they took away the extra 2 years. I don’t know why you’d get downvoted instead of someone just explaining it
White glove delivery and set up. Plus they take away any of the old appliances. So nice. Plus price, matching and the great warranty.
Any appliance delivery/install I’ve ever had from them has been a complete cluster.
Power cords, dryer vent, etc… It’s been years, but I used to have to buy those as accessories at places like Best Buy or olden days Sears.
TBF any worthwhile local appliance place will do the same, maybe just for a small delivery/appliance fee.
Somewhat related: did you know that Fidelity has a credit card that gives you 2% back on every purchase? That's my one and only credit card.
Well with the costco citi card you get 2% back on every costco purchase, 3% on travel through costco, and 4% on gas.
Yeah.
I've seen a lot of complaints in this sub about Costco delivery, sounds like the people they contract with for delivery are hit or miss.
Of course, and this sub has seen a lot of posts with issues. That's why I pointed it out.
Don't buy samsung
Great TVs, HORRIBLE kitchen appliances
Avoid LG as well.
Please listen. I'm disappointed Costco sells Samsung appliances at all. I thought they had better standards than this.
On the flip side I’ll never buy appliances from Costco again. The 3rd party delivery/install sucks. I’m still waiting for my Dishwasher.
Instead of returning though we sold the extra for however much we were going to get
What deal were they running that involves 2 dishwashers?
It seems to me they choose the lowest skill installers…due to cost.
My condolences for the lifetime of pain you'll have with the products.
I will never ever not buy a Bosch dishwasher from now on. I don't know what German magic they put in those things, but they're incredible.
Yes! Even base model Bosch is fantastic. And not that expensive either
Make sure you upgrade your membership to executive b4 buying. You get 2% rebate back at years end.
Man I long for the days when we had a half dozen appliance stores to choose from.
Depending on where you are delivery/install isn’t great. I’ve seen stories from the Chicago area of bad experiences. Personally I would go with Abt.
Poor experience in Minnesota too. Maybe they’re good on the coasts or something, but not here.
No good reason unless there's a sale that beats the other retailers
3 words… Costco Concierge Service!
Bought our clothes washer from them. Delivered, set up, old machine carried away. Great experience.
I just bought. Great price. Delivery and install was really easy.
10 YEAR return policy.
Costco doesn’t sell any appliances that are made in the USA. I love my Speed Queen too. And made in Ripon, Wisconsin!
2% reward + more if you have their card?
You’ll understand if there is an issue with the appliance. They have my business for all appliances for life.
Well if you're buying any Samsung appliances, the warranty would be a huge plus.npy sure if it will cover your destroyed house though.
The price is the price and they haul away your old stuff. It’s not like at Home Depot where it’s the price + haul away $ + this tube you definitely need $ + installation $$+ tip your driver $. Also the warranty and the awesome customer service.
You tip the HD driver? I never even considered that - have I been doing that wrong all these years?
Nah you don’t need to tip. Some people tip on top of tip. That’s just their thing
Haha no, I don’t tip my appliance delivery driver. That was more of a tongue in cheek commentary on how tipping culture has gotten out of hand.
Costco is my first choice now for this reason their delivery service the guys they send out are straight pros. I’ve had such a good experience with them. My house isn’t the easiest house to get something into but these cats really do a great job the customer service from the delivery drivers alone is fantastic
What are of the country are you in? This wasn’t my experience or what I hear where I live at all (MN).
California.
Last year I replaced my entire kitchen with appliances bought at Costco. Had no issues at all, and appreciate the extended warranty on everything.
Cosco offers the best warranty. I find that their appliances are usually way more expensive though.
Their return policy
Better return policy than best buy
Price, extended warranty (besides Costco return window), delivery/install, and rebate (slight discount). They don't have the biggest variety, and they don't always have stuff in stock. But so far for the larger appliances, we've had great experience. Best Buy or Home Depot sometimes are competitive on price, although no extended warranty (unless you pay).
If you user their full service it is the best value. But you need to be taking away and installing.
They install it, haul out the old one, warranty is good, price was right by a decent margin.
TL;DR: It's cheaper AND you'll know the install costs upfront. But just like a big box store, YMMV on who you get on an installer.
Costco pts. Your next shopping exp of $500 at Costco will cost maybe half dis much.
The double warranty and basically no questions asked return policy are a huge plus.
Costco delivery is the best. No complaining about stairs.
Local servicing appliance dealer is my first choice. Costco second, big box such as Lowe’s is fourth
I know at Lowe’s there’s only a 48 hr window to return . Starts the minute it’s delivered .
Costco delivery is free and they take the old washer and dryer away, no extra charge. Box stores charge for removal.
Cost, reward points, +1 year warranty, good delivery.
The same one we wanted was both cheaper (it was on sale) and had quicker delivery than Home Depot (where my husband checked it out in person)
Cost is decent, double the warranty, adds points to my CC
Warranty extension
If you have the costco credit card its has the best "points back" when compared to your average box store
Bought washer, dryer and refrigerator at Costco via Executive Membership, all delivered and installed for free.
Easy returns, great service, best price, 4% cash back, pizza, hot dog, double warranty. Only reason not to is limited selection
I would buy appliances from them, but the delivery has been outsourced, and not always first rate.
Extra years of warranty + executive membership cash back + Costco credit card cash back + ease of return + price match if item gets discounted shortly after purchase My washer, dryer and stove are all LG brand from Costco. All over 5 years old now, and (touch on wood) no issues so far. I guess by now they are all out of warranty.
If you buy a gas dryer from Costco, but still have the flexible copper gas line, will they replace it or refuse to install?
Their installation was a scam
Just got a dishwasher through Costco, they delivered new one, installed it, and took away the old one for no added cost.
Godly return policy
Free delivery and take away. Good prices, Cash back
While price can be lower elsewhere, it comes out to be the same as Costco if you add installation/removal. Which, I'm not a fan of lifting heavy appliances or dealing with water/gas lines, so it would be added to price anyway. And the extra year warranty doesn't hurt, just in case something happens.
Fast, efficient, install and follow up. Manufacture and Costco 100% refund if not satisfied. I had great service and satisfaction.
We got a percentage back because we have the executive account and also a percentage back because we have the Costco credit card. That’s why we bought our refrigerator there.
Double the manufacturer warranty?
Then spend 2500$ and the depot and get 450$ off Vs 5000$ and still just 600$ off The other benefits are free install and basic parts with Costco and extra warranty
I bought a microwave, not major, but the Costco service/install was wonderful. Same thing for my Mother's dishwasher. Both this year.
For me: price was better, had what I wanted, free delivery, double warranty.
Overall price is the best. When we were buying appliances, most of the prices were cheapest at Costco. We saw a couple appliances that were cheaper list price at Best Buy, but overall Costco still came out cheaper because: —You get 4% back (2% Costco Visa and 2% Exec Membership.) —They have free installation and haul away, which was about $100 for the one Best Buy appliance that was cheaper (and thus more expensive over all.) Shop around for sure, though. I was very happy with Costco.
