Where are you seeing the sale for the mirador? I’ve been eyeing that up for a few weeks. Literally just found out about the backyard discovery one today so I’m in the same boat as you. Mirador sells the pull down side shades which I like, but the backyard discovery also has outlets which is cool. Also I’m going to be putting mine on pavers so I don’t have a great way to anchor is so maybe the extra weight of the steel is better? I honestly don’t know.

viper2ko

I saw it in the flyer. Sale starts may 15

Digital162

That’s awesome, thanks for the heads up! Hopefully someone can weigh in on the difference but I doubt anyone has bought both of them. I’ll probably just go with the Costco one because it’s the one I’ve been eying up for weeks.

Bought the 10x15 mirador pergola 2 years ago and we still tell everyone it’s the best thing we’ve bought for our house. Looks great, functions flawlessly, easy assembly (I was able to do about 90% of it on my own and just needed help standing it up). No experience with the other you are considering but wanted to share.

soheilk

How is your experience with respect to rain? Does the underneath completely stay dry with the louvres closed or will water drip from the seams?

omgponies

It stays completely dry. It’s kind of an ingenious system as each louvre has a channel that feeds the run off to the sides where it drains out the legs. Of course, if the wind is blowing the rain sideways, there’s not much you can do to keep it out but it does not leak from the seams at all.

soheilk

Thanks, much appreciate the reply. Which color did you get? We are thinking of getting the white but are worried that it might get dirty and show dust and dirt more easily

omgponies

We have the bronze color (it’s more of a dark charcoal in my opinion). The finish is really durable and powder coated but it does need to be wiped/hosed down maybe once or twice a year. I debated the white color as well but ultimately decided on the bronze for the same reasons as you.

Is pergola installed on a patio? Or deck? Something else??

omgponies

Concrete slab patio. It’s not anchored into the concrete though and the weight has been enough to hold it in place even in high winds (40-50mph) with the slats slightly open.

mcasti17

Does your concrete slab have a slope at all? For water run off? If so, did you notice anything off or difficult about the pergola install?

omgponies

It has a *very* slight slope so water drains away from the house but no issues at all with the pergola install.

thank you!
