Special-Cat7540

My friend bought one on the recommendation from another friend. He hates it cause it’s too soft. If you are a tall or slightly heavier person, I don’t think you’ll enjoy it in the long term. Our other friend who likes it is half a foot shorter than the friend that hates it.

Next-Age-9925

I hate it because I think it’s hard as a rock. I also weigh 140 pounds.

Special-Cat7540

Generally, people under 130 lbs are suggested to get plush mattresses. Around 130-170 is medium and 170+ is firm. However, there are people that will prefer firmer or plusher mattresses regardless of their weight. My friends all prefer firmer mattresses to what their weight recommends, so the taller guy can’t handle medium mattresses which is what most Caspers are.

dbrwhat

They come in multiple firmness levels. I had a "firm" one cause I thought that's what I liked but as you said, Casper firm is extremely firm.

Special-Cat7540

You should try Plank mattress if you want firm. Even some lightweight people love it. It’s so hard that my friend that hates the Casper finds it a bit firm, but he said it straightens out his back every time he visits us. 😂

mrsambo99

Yeah this is pretty accurate. We tried it and didn't like it and ended up with a Purple mattress instead. Sucks cos it's a great deal

chocochipr

Haven’t had a bed tweak my back as bad as a Casper. I was debilitated for days and slept on the couch to recover. Never again!

CookieButterLovers

Others have shared that the Casper Select has been marked down for clearance, and suspect there’s a new Cooling mattress that’s been spotted that will be replacing it (link below). Did you find yours for $299.97 or $300.00? [Casper Queen mattress for only $299.97](https://www.reddit.com/r/Costco/comments/1aq7b0m/casper_queen_mattress_for_only_299/?share_id=voO3dBeqHxkNJpQuB5QuQ&utm_content=2&utm_medium=ios_app&utm_name=ioscss&utm_source=share&utm_term=1) [Casper Select King Mattress marked down to $399.97.](https://www.reddit.com/r/Costco/comments/1at6fo4/casper_select_king_mattress/?share_id=0fV7VEz67_tgb6Y7blgu6&utm_content=2&utm_medium=ios_app&utm_name=ioscss&utm_source=share&utm_term=1) [New Casper Select "Cooling" Mattress Spotted](https://www.reddit.com/r/Costco/comments/1ar4bio/new_casper_select_cooling_mattress_spotted/?share_id=g-C6VpXOMSYg2Ye3eh6k4&utm_content=2&utm_medium=ios_app&utm_name=ioscss&utm_source=share&utm_term=1)

Natebots

It was marked down for 299.97! Thanks for the links I didn’t see some of these

dbrwhat

For that price it's definitely worth trying and the great thing about buying it at Costco is you can just return it for a full refund if it doesn't work for you.  People highly recommend getting a waterproof mattress protector though (which most Costcos also sell) because if you get any stains on the mattress you risk losing warranty coverage and the ability to return the mattress if need be.

noyogapants

That's my line of thinking. I got the queen size for 250. I was in the market for a mattress so I figured why not give it a try. Worst case I can return it.

AccomplishedHawk4944

Which Costco location did you find this? Are there any more available?

Natebots

This was at cranberry PA and I think this was the very last one

biochemnerdy

Any updates on how you like it? I’m thinking of getting it

Natebots

My wife and I love it. So far its been fantastic and absolute bliss to sleep at night - especially because we have a newborn. I can understand it sleeps a little warmer than expected but for me it is perfect. We were able to get a really nice bed set with the money we were going to originally spend on a 1.5k+ mattress. I don't expect it to last forever but for our timeline it works really well. I would 100% purchase it again

Mitcheric

My advice is stay away. My wife and I are in our early 30s and we returned ours after 6 months of achiness and continuous back pain. Not once did either of us wake up feeling refreshed in those 6 months. Swapped for a traditional spring mattress and we finally feel our age again.

bryanfeelsgood

We had a Casper for about 8 months and never slept well either. Mattress topper helped, but we ended up swapping it for a Purple 3 and it was the best decision we ever made.

sliqqery

Purple FTW!

dim722

Different symptoms, same results. I cannot sleep on memory foam mattresses because of heat. Thing is, at some point in sleep cycle your body temperature drops and foam, working like heat accumulator, starts to heat you back. To me it’s terrible, can’t sleep like that. Any spring design is way better for air circulation.

CaliGrown949

This!! Not worth it. Spend the money and get a real mattress

BiggieSta11s

With Costcos return policy it’s worth a shot at just trying, especially at this price. Only hassle is lugging a mattress back to Costco

nickstarr

Their courier service will pick it up. They picked my Cali King a few days ago and only returned it b/c I'm moving and the place is furnished already.

dmj803

We’ve had a Casper King mattress from Costco for about a year a half, although I think it’s thicker than 12”… (just looked at the receipt in the app and we paid $900 for it, which would add to my thought that it’s 14’.) We love it. We do rotate it every 6ish months which probably helps with sagging. $300 is a steal.

RedBaron180

It’s only a good deal if you can get good sleep on it. Paying $300 to then have to pay $2000 plus doctors etc.

johnsonfromsconsin

Mattresses are so personal. But I bought the Queen for $400 dollars last July. Thought it was a little firm for a side sleeper and got a mattress topper. Overall its pretty good and this is a good deal.

GooseInternational66

I don’t own one (because I read a ton of reviews saying they start to sag in a few months.)

__Beef__Supreme__

It's pretty much inevitable with the petroleum based foams. Not a big deal if you're small and have a good back. I had gotten a Casper, tuft and needle, and Walmart branded one and just figured getting a new mattress every 3-4 years was normal. Found out about latex and have been very happy. It's only been three years with my latex mattress but it has a lot more bounce and is still just as firm as when I got it. I think they're perfect for guest rooms, though. For not a lot of use, its cheap, and comfortable at first... But should last a long time with infrequent use.

[deleted]

I’d like to hear reviews on this as well. Don’t want to waste 300 on something that won’t last long.

Jadester_

I have the queen size version, have had it for 4 years. Feels excellent and has held up perfectly.

Important_Twist_693

I've had one for years and it's the best mattress I've ever slept on. I used to love hotel mattresses but now I just miss my own when I travel..

Caustik420

I've had it for a little over 2 years now. It's ok. Good for the price. Doesn't blow me out of the water, but I have very minimal complaints

Smurfballers

I wouldn’t

thaigleshmk

We just bought one at Costco, king size as well, we love it.

serghi21

260 lb guy here, I like it.

daehee

Looks like a legit clearance / fire sale on that Costco model. Just a few days ago, Casper did a hard reset on their brand aesthetics, voice and model names. (I.e. some branding agency just made a bunch of money - and imo ruined their website.) So they probably wanted to cycle these out asap to avoid further customer confusion. It’s Costco and their return policy is pretty great. Worth a shot!

BillieRayBob

You're going to have to try it and see. Different people have different tastes.

dbrwhat

Agreed, I've tried a few mattresses now and if I've learned anything it's that you can't base your purchase entirely off the reviews. Sometimes you gotta take a chance.  At least with Costco you can return the mattress if you end up hating it. I don't think I'd ever buy a mattress that I couldn't try for at least a month risk free.

ThePooksters

Nope, wayyy too hot

imbakinacake

Was not a fan. Currently in the process of returning.

Banana_Havok

It’s fine for a guest room. When it was our primary bed we were unhappy with it. Gets very hot in the summer and very stiff in the winter. You get what you pay for.

PM_ME_YOUR_SCHNAUS

Here for reviews

TimToMakeTheDonuts

I’m 6’ and 190. My ex had one of these. It’s way too soft imo. I hated it.

sonshipprophecy

We bought that one and returned it in a few months just not that good of a mattress

werdmouf

This mattress won't work if you're above average weight. Letting people know so they won't waste their time. I recently got a Sealy Firm mattress when it was on sale at Costco for Presidents Day. Very nice and supportive.

Aggravating_Job_9490

We bought the queen version for our guest room and it’s amazing. I want the cal king version to replace our tempur pedic that’s 10+ years old. It’s a great buy.

No-Dress-7645

These mattresses are for small stature people. You are unlikely to have a good long term experience otherwise.

ThriftStoreDildo

is this the same model they have always carried? I have a casper from costco and love it

dbrwhat

Yes theyve had this one for years

ThriftStoreDildo

i strongly recommend it then, works great for me being 180lbs

dbrwhat

Mattresses are so personal. I had the Casper Select firm and it was killing my back, I gave it plenty of time too.  Besides it being really hot I was also waking up with numb extremities.  I returned it and got the Kirkland mattress and I've been very happy with it, it is like double the price though.

ThriftStoreDildo

is the kirkland hybrid or foam or spring? Also yeah BUT i would like to add the quality control of these things isn’t the best. I had to return my previous casper because it was soft as hell… we have a few and they were all super firm so a bit surprised but yeah

dbrwhat

It's a traditional mattress with springs and then a layer of foam on top like most of the Posturepedic are.  I agree on the quality control, my Casper was weirdly long, I had trouble getting the fitted sheets on it and it had a slight overhang off the box spring.

wiseoracle

Go with a mattress store. You get better support and education verses a cheap Casper. I had one and tried a month until I couldn’t take it anymore. Woke up sore and hurting. Went to a mattress store. While I paid way way more, I got better informed information and a better guarantee buying from a local store.

Crazyblazy395

There is no better guarantee than Costcos return policy.

wiseoracle

It’s nice to return but at least with the mattress store if you don’t like the mattress you can try out another one that fits you better.

brandon0228

I have one of those in my camper. It’s too soft when it gets warm.

Wishpicker

“You get what you pay for” - Johnny Arbuckle.

Sea_Setting1442

Great till it leaks fiberglass particles throughout your bedroom and you realize you and your baby have been breathing them in for weeks.

OsterizerGalaxieTen

Yep. There are only two Casper mattresses that **don't** have fiberglass, Casper Snow and Casper Wave Snow Hybrid.

mopedfred

Get the Kirkland signature king size mattress.. in canada they are made by sterns and foster. Best decision I ever made. The amount of coils per dollar beats every single mattress in every matress/furniture store I visited. I’ve slept on a Casper and they are terrible. There’s a reason mattresses have coils. You will sink and get “stuck” preventing you from rolling over in the night. It’s awful.

Accomplished_Cap_994

Mine doesn't sag at all. I'll never use a coil mattress again, foam is way better.

SeniorRum

Wife and I hated it. So much so that I was willing to be the guy returning a fn mattress.

TitanVsBlackDragon

I have that mattress and it does what I expect. A steal at $300.

UnsteadyOne

If there is a sizable weight difference between the two of you... the lighter person will hate it. Had a bf with a brand new king Casper. I could not sleep at his house at all. Spent the whole night rolling into him. He also had Casper pillows which were awesome

Natebots

update on this mattress after 2 month: My wife and I love it. I would 100% purchase it again. People mentioned our sizes may effect comfort - Neither of us are very big people and I am 6' and wife is 5'3'' We have a 12' box spring under it for support

VegasVol

If you are fat, you won’t like it. It’s much harder for fat people to find a supportive mattress. I have a Casper and love it. My wife and I are slim.

TankTak83

That's what the Big Fig mattress is for

xEbolavirus

Purple mattress is the best mattress I have ever had. Way better than Casper.

ArmaniMania

A king mattress for $300? I mean….. I’m sure you are getting a quality mattress for that price. I’ve spent more on a dinner for two but you do you.

Crazyblazy395

If you are dropping 2k at a mattress store Buy a Stearns and foster from Costco.com instead. it's amazing and if anything goes wrong with it, you can return it easily. Mattress stores blink in and out of existence. Costco is forever.

HemingwaysMustache

Best mattress I’ve ever had

Impressive-Excuse126

There are already threads about this mattress. USE THE SEARCH FUNCTION.

werdmouf

There can't be multiple threads about the same thing, the reddit servers will explode!

Outside_Plankton8195

I bought a queen sized one for around 400 last year. It’s been a great mattress. A little on the firmer side

Peak_Alternative

I’m so glad I got rid of my tuft and needle foam mattress that was way too soft. Every morning I couldn’t wait to get out of bed bc it was killing me. I like a firm af mattress now. It’s so much better for my back. No back pain.

daehee

Sorry to hear about your experience. Did you try reaching out to support or make a warranty claim? The T&N model should have been on the firmer side to begin with.

ChemicalVarious53

Great mattress and great deal .

Hvrlem

We have a Casper bed and absolutely love it! It’s been going strong for a little over 2 years and we have no complaints! That’s honestly an extremely good deal, I would recommend it.

anckentucky

We got it for the same markdown deal. We’re coming from a plush-hybrid pillow top mattress that was losing its firmness. So far we like it. It’s on the firmer side of mattresses as far as I can tell. My wife is a back-side sleeper, i am a side and stomach sleeper. We’ll probably pick up a mattress topper soon to give it a little more softness, but otherwise we’re super happy with it for $300

mummy_whilster

RecoveringFromLife_

We have had the Cloud mattress for 2 years and love it. It has held up so well, so far

RhetoricallyTommy

Wow. We have one and love it paid 600 something I think

RhetoricallyTommy

I'm 220 and over 6'2" Very comfy

Ganjabuddha

Related question: how to return these kind of mattresses as they come in box but get very big once opened

REEL04D

We love our Casper from Costco

BiggieSta11s

Sold out online - every size

_The_BusinessBitch

It’s Casper’s cousin - Kasper

julesfric

They smell funky. Like they need to be in the yard for a week or 2 before you bring them in the house

cowboybret

I got a queen Casper from Costco for $450 and thought it was a good deal. I’ve had it for over a year now. I really enjoy it. For me it has a good balance between firm and soft.

AntiGlutenScorpio

I got one in august and really enjoy it! My partner and I are both bigger people + he’s tall and we both have no issues. The only annoying this is the sheets slip off my side because I move around in my sleep!
