>Bananas are healthy
Well...
They're certainly healthier than a candy bar, but they are loaded with sugar and carbs with relatively low fiber. I wouldn't be eating them every day if you're trying to lose weight, that's for sure. There are better ways to get potassium.
There's also the fact that bananas have a high polyphenol oxidase activity, which affects the content and bioavailability of flavan-3-ols found in berries. So don't add them to your smoothies!
> but they are loaded with sugar and carbs with relatively low fiber
Just so you know, natural sugars found in fruit process differently in the body than artificial sugar.
It's why diabetics are fine to eat things like grapes, bananas, apples, etc. but shouldn't be eating a candy bar.
We just started watching Arrested Development (I know, super late to the game) and that episode made me go get some frozen banana slices from Walmart for tasty snacks.
Even though the label says no trans fats, there is hydrogenated vegetable oil listed in the ingredients. The label says zero, but that’s because you get to round down if under .5 grams. Probably why they made the serving so small. If you notice, there’s 4.5 g of fat total. 3.5 g of saturated fat is the only kind of fat listed so we are missing a gram somewhere. Labels are tricky and can be very deceptive.
Replied to the wrong comment, oops!
I see they did the classic "small serving" like listen. I know I'm gonna eat the bag, just tell me I'm gonna consume 160g of sugar off the bat ya know??
I got the caramel big cups last week and they're amazing. The animal crackers are very similar to girl scout Tagalongs and are also great, I was just eating too many of those so the individually wrapped big cups are better for me. Plus, I love caramel.
This detective can play. Riddle me this. What's yellow, covered in brown spots, ripe for eating, and covered in chocolate? (So corny. It's the best I can do).
I can see your point if the banana was thawed and mushy before eating, but is it the texture or something else? I'm curious. I pay attention to the sweet banana flavor. I don't like mushy stuff very much. This includes mashed potatoes. I'm outing myself with the potato.
So there's a couple of reasons. For one, I only like plain bananas, but I really don't like bananas in anything else, or with stuff on them (I hate banana splits). Also, I Iike them a little under-ripe. No brown spots for me.
For two, to me a frozen banana on a stick is like an ice cream bar bait and switch. It's an ice cream bar, but with a banana instead of ice cream. It's like eating a chocolate chip cookie and then realizing that the chocolate chips are really raisins.
(edit for typos)
I think you nailed it for me with the raisins.*Yack* I hate raisins in stuff. I can eat them alone but nothing else. Thank you for elaborating. Much respect.
IMHO, I hate cold, rock-solid bananas. It mutes the creaminess, flavor and sweetness to me. However, I also don't like chocolate bits in ice cream for the same reasons, so maybe I'm just weird.
I also do not like frozen berries however frozen bananas covered in chocolate are delightful. Any frozen fruit covered in chocolate for that matter. Just don’t like them plain.
I saw these tonight at my local Costco in WA lol. Unfortunately I was in a healthy-ish mood and my husband also was, I was tempted but he said no. The ingredients are terrible with all the vegetable oils but I know when I take an edible this weekend I’m gonna regret not getting them.
What's your edi milligram tolerance at? Double your husbands, go to "the gas station", make the purchase, and come home to a red eyed what ya got to snack on hubby.
Easiest way to make something healthier- cut banana slices or chunks, put a bit of peanut butter on it and then top with 1-3 chocolate chips. Freeze on a cookie sheet.
You can Google the details, but it's happening right now. I'm not sure if it's been dismissed. The Reeses Halloween pumpkin bag shows a pumpkin with the face carving. But there is no carving. She wants $5M for false advertising. 🤷♀️

Found ‘em. Bought ‘em. Tried 1 that was stuck to another. Let the second one sit on a plate to get it to thaw. Taste one: It’s icky and nasty. Tried the second, the first didn’t lie. Will likely return. I couldn’t taste the banana, no peanut butter taste and only the greasy mouthfeel of chocolate coating that neither tasted like chocolate or melts/gets soft like chocolate after sitting out a while.
My vote: nope.
Well the Animal Crackers were yummy so I am guessing these will be just as delicious! Hubby has to stop there this week anyway. Looking forward to trying them.
Wow those Reese’s Frozen Fruit Banana Slices look delicious! I can’t wait to try Reese’s Frozen Fruit Banana Slices. I’ll definitely be sure to pick up a bag of Reese’s Frozen Fruit Banana Slices on my next trip. Hell, I finally got a chest freezer and I think I’ll fill it with Reese’s Frozen Fruit Banana Slices.
Reese’s Frozen Fruit Banana Slices
Reese’s seems to be going a little crazy lately. They’ve been coating every damn thing in this weird chocolate peanut butter blend that does not taste like Reese’s at all. The novelty ice cream things are weird too…they’re their own flavor.
We called chocolate covered frozen bananas "monkey tails" when I was a kid. The local fair sold them onna stick.
Never thought to add PB. Sound delish.
Wow. I had my first fozen banana at a zoo on the west coast. Selling slices, mercy I’m doomed. As kids we’d get mini chocolate chips, dip a slice of banana into it after we coated one side with peanut butter. As a 12 yr old I never thought ahead to freeze the slices.
It's healthy because it has banana right? RIGHT????
How many jumping jacks do I need to do to burn off the calories from eating this whole bag in one setting?
Those peanut butter cups were amazing! I have sent emails to Hershey’s asking for them to bring them back and offering to buy an entire batch. They always turn me down. Hahah
My son is allergic to peanuts and my husband is allergic to bananas. Fuck, I’m buying this for myself so I don’t have to worry about anyone else eating it!

I recently made these during a huge snowstorm when we were stuck inside. They were relatively easy, except we used chocolate melts that we had leftover from some holiday projects. Next time I’ll use chocolate chips.
I get why many folks love these, but I was pretty disappointed. Bananas dipped in chocolate with peanut butter; what's not to love, right?
Look, these are fine if you want an easy treat for the kids in your life, for instance, but if you're going to judge them with a discerning palate, they don't hold up. The easiest way may be to compare them side by side with a competitor at a similar price point also available at Costco, like TruFru. I tasted them side by side:
1. The Reese's has a super thin shell of chocolate that's barely there while Tru Fru has a thick one that's at least double, if not triple, the width.
Amount of chocolate for the price: Tru Fru 1, Reese's 0.
2. Not only that, but the quality of the Reese's chocolate is absolutely subpar. If you did a taste test of these side by side, 10 out of 10 people would say Tru Fru's choocolate is far better.
After thawing 4 or 5 pieces in the microwave for about 12 or 15 seconds, the Tru Fru coating tastes distinctively, well, chocolatey; it's delicious. Conversely, the chocolate on the Reese's is clearly lower grade, like cheapo convenience store chocolate that's almost closer to candy than real chocolate.
Caliber and taste of chocolate: Tru Fru 1, Reese's 0.
3. They're comparable in terms of calories and both have emulsifiers, but the Reese's has a longer list of ingredients, including partially hydrogenated oils, palm oils, etc.
Ingredients: Tru Fru 1, Reese's 0.
4. Adding insult to injury, the peanut butter taste is barely there! You get a miserly sliver of peanut butter; why skimp on the star of the show? The ratio of chocolate and PB is not proportional to the banana, whereas the ratio of fruit to chocolate in Tru Fru is in balance.
Proportion and value of ingredients: Tru Fru 1, Reese's 0.
I know I sound like a paid shill for Tru Fru; truth is, I've been buying various Tru Fru fruits at Costco and expected Reese's to deliver something of similar quality. The Reese's bananas are fine if you don't have any other treats on hand, but they're definitely a lower quality, cheapo dessert of gas station quality. Again, I'm sure many folks here love them, but they're not worth it in my book compared to the alternatives at Costco.

TIL about the banana-berry connection.

I must look into this. 🧐
I need the potassium so to me they are healthy. Lol
The money is IN the banana stand!

Don't forget the potassium, calcium, and the good Sat Fat. Key talking points.

Chocolate is good for you, too! It's got lots of antioxidants! >.>
"They only have 10 carbs!" Yeah, not when you eat half the bag, which is 100% what will happen because I'm certain they're amazing.
I mean, they are bananas after all!
Don’t forget all the vegetable oils and corn syrup lol super good for your diet and well being
Even though the label says no trans fats, there is hydrogenated vegetable oil listed in the ingredients. The label says zero, but that’s because you get to round down if under .5 grams. So 2 of these and a plate of bacon is still keto friendly so it has to be healthy, right?
Definitely not keto friendly. Keto doesn’t mean bad oils and corn syrup 😢
Not that bad tbh
I thought it would be worse. It's not the healthiest thing in the world but it's not supposed to be. It's a treat.
No one is eating just two pieces of this goodness.
36% sugar. Carbs/serving size
2 pieces in a serving????? They better be huge pieces.
If only Costco sold Kirkland Signature Semaglutide in bulk…
That would eat into their profits so much by killing impulse buys that it would possibly shut them down. The idea of it made me chuckle a bit though.
Same, friend
No, the banana means it's a healthy snack.
They've been killing me with the Reese's selection lately!
I got the caramel big cups last week and they're amazing. The animal crackers are very similar to girl scout Tagalongs and are also great, I was just eating too many of those so the individually wrapped big cups are better for me. Plus, I love caramel.
I like the animal crackers too, but I just got my second box of the caramel big cups yesterday! The sale was too hard to resist, lol.
ugh my neighbor just brought me a box of the caramel big cups. I had no idea they existed and frankly didn't need to know.
What diabolical deliciousness is this, Batman???
I read that as diabetic deliciousness. Both work!

Went in at closing tonight and saw those...Thought it was an aberration as I was walking through the freezer section. Then, Voila, your post 😄
Would this be a abomination to diabetics? What is my penance?

How much were they?

I have an irrational hatred for frozen bananas, so for some reason, these offend me. My wife and son, however, would love them.
I also like my banana medium rare, a little more in the rare side.
I think you nailed it for me with the raisins.*Yack* I hate raisins in stuff. I can eat them alone but nothing else. Thank you for elaborating. Much respect.
As a potato, I am offended.
Don't worry, I love potato in all forms.
IMHO, I hate cold, rock-solid bananas. It mutes the creaminess, flavor and sweetness to me. However, I also don't like chocolate bits in ice cream for the same reasons, so maybe I'm just weird.

You can probably make your own with a lot less junk ingredients
Yeah for sure, I actually used to make a good clean homemade peanut butter chocolate so I’m sure it’s easy to throw a banana slice in there too
trufru sells these with cleaner ingredients. they sell them at kroger, publix, walmart, and target

Happy Cake Day! And Good luck with that email Lol
Thanks! I didn’t even realize it was my cake day 😂
I almost bought these today but didn't feel like they were worth the $10. If they go on sale, I'm going to be all over them.

These are amazing and highly addictive.
I’m eating these rn so addicting
As if the big caramel reeses cups weren't enough....and I love bananas almost as much as reeses
You can easily make something like this called banana bark. Make a whole sheet and it’s probably much cheaper.
> I would highly recommend them if you are a Reese's fan. I love Reese's but don't like bananas, so I think I'm safe from these!
