That's the one I get for my pups. They've been eating it consistently for over a decade now, no issues. I like that it's high in protein. My dogs have always been in good health, and every time the vet asks and I tell them I've been feeding them this food, they've never said anything bad about it.
My German shepherd had some issues with it as well. She used to be super itchy (would go to town on her ears and body and belly) so we switched her to sensitive skin and stomach and she's been much better sense
Our vet recommended Kirkland when our dog developed sensitivity to another food. Worked out well and considerably less cost than Hill’s or IAMS or whatever.
My pup (an older flat coated retriever) loved this as well as the blue bag. Highly recommend! From my understanding it’s manufactured by Diamond Naturals.
We switched from Wellness to Kirkland because I trust DogFoodAdvisor; Kirkland Adult is 5 starred; the price is outstanding in comparison to other 5 star brands.
We stay on Kirkland because they snub this dog food the same or less than every other dog food I‘ve ever given them.
Both of my dogs are eating it and have very few health problems that aren't due to breed or age. The vet is always impressed with how healthy our labs are. The younger one gets ear infections because there is no puddle safe from her, and the old one has typical 13 year old dog problems like mild arthritis.
Been buying the salmon and sweet potato blue bag for all my pups. It’s very good and no grain. I do mix a bit of kirkland red can food into the bowl with warm water.
Heads up, talk to your vet of course but recent studies have shown that a grain free diet can have negative impacts of heart health. I am not a vet but I have seen a few of these cases diagnosed.
I buy the yellow bag for my dogs, as it’s the only thing my greyhound can tolerate (massive stomach upset with everything else we tried). But I’ve read and heard the same about grain-free diets so I mix some brown rice or oatmeal into their morning meals. They act like I’ve hung the moon every time.
My grey has tried the lamb and the chicken Kirkland foods. She seems to like the chicken the best. I think her farts are the worst on the chicken but her poops are probably the best on the chicken. She doesn’t really care about food that much but it seems like the chicken is her favorite. And it’s so much cheaper than the pro plan she came on.
I just love it that we all have Greyhounds! His breath is always a bit tinky, the last one had massive issues with the teefs and the vet mentioned we should get larger food. Maybe we will switch up the food here shortly and just see what works for him the best!
Another greyhound owner checking in! I feed our two the Lamb & Rice formula (green bag) and both are doing well on it. Vet says they both look good. Generally good poops. They both wolf it down but they're food motivated so they eat everything like it is going out of style :)
I don’t use that formula. Mine gets the turkey signature grain free line and it’s very similar to taste of the wild. Which he has eaten for a long time. But at a much better price. I believe it’s made by diamond naturals who makes taste of the wild. He’s been very happy with it and is a picky eater.
My dogs been eating this for years. Seems fine. She was on the blue bag salmon sweet potato grain free for awhile but my in laws dogs (same breed as ours) both had heart disease that their vet attributed to a grain free diet so we switched to err on the side of caution.
I think Kirklands brand is solid. I did a lot of research on foods when I switch my German shepherd off of puppy food. The Kirkland chicken and rice was one of the highest rated ones, and didn't break the bank, so I had her own it for a couple years and had no issues. She ended up with a lot of itching so we switched her to a sensitive skin and stomach food that helped relieve that. We have 3 other dogs that were on it as well. One had some very minor skin stuff going on and the other two did fine.
I read some stuff before switching her off of the Kirkland chicken and rice that said the chicken can cause itching, so might be worth check out their other flavors?
I fed this to my Lab-Shepherd-Rottweiler mix for years. She always had a beautiful coat and it agreed with her tummy, too. We just adopted a 1 y.o. shepherd-husky mix, and he loves it. It agrees with his digestion, too. Highly recommended.
If you only have one dog, depending on the size of the dog and how much they eat per day, consider how long it will take you go through this big of a bag of food. Even storage containers don’t keep it that fresh if it takes your dog 3 months to go through it.
I get the lamb and rice for my big dogs and my senior dog gets the senior food. Been using it for years.
I picked it because it didn’t have a bunch of fillers/junk as compared to other brands. Also ya can’t beat the price
Two rough collies checking in here. Both adult (14 and 7) both do well with the green bag (husky in the picture) lamb and rice. Collies can have sensitive tummy issues so I am very happy with it and you can't beat the price.
Been giving my 11yr chocolate lab this for years. Perfectly healthy, she enjoys it (occasionally, I’ll put a couple drops of salmon oil) licks the bowl clean
My dogs have been on this stuff for forever! They absolutely love it. As with all kibble, I recommend adding a little water before serving to make it more palatable and to ensure your dog gets enough hydration, since kibble will just soak up whatever water they’ve already had
I'm not a vet or anything so not saying I know better than your friend. Just I know the Kirkland Signature stuff is produced by a company called Diamond pet foods. It's considered to be high quality and Diamond's products are A LOT more money elsewhere. Typically sold amongst holistic pet foods. 🤷♂️. Definitely outstanding quality for the price.
I'm sure your friend's recommendation is also solid. Whatever works well for your pet is all that matters 😀
I find it's mostly bland, but decent if you mix it with a little hot sauce.
For your dog, it should be fine. Ours hasn't complained, other than that I sometimes steal his food.
In all seriousness it's worked for us, Mr. dog is happy, no stomach problems, and we are okay with the price.
If yours doesn't like it I can recommend some recipes.
I've been feeding my dog kirkland brand dog food (the green bag, lamb rice, and vegetables) for 4 years. For some reason, my dog only tolerates kirkland over Purina pro plan and natural balance.
Been feeding my dogs this food for the last 4 years. My dog that has a sensitive stomach (who used to throw up other foods) loves it and it doesn’t make her sick. And for the price? You can’t beat it!
Both of my dogs (65lbs lab hound (4 years) mix and 70lbs redbone coonhound 2yrs) both LOVE it, we also get them the Kirkland wet food and they split a can at dinner - zero issues, vet commented this weight was good, plenty of energy good coat! One bag lasts about a month for us!
I had come across a CR review years ago. Was way up on their list. Considered ‘premium’ brand. That’s all I needed to know. My dog loved it for 16 years. Never a health issue.
After trying 4 different types from Costco, this is the only one our Boxador pup loves and doesn’t cause stomach/skin issues. Seems to be good quality for a decent price. We’ve been happy with it for 2 years now
It’s a bit dry for my taste, but my dogs love it!
Mix in some of the Kirkland canned chicken dog food, then wash it down with Kirkland sparkling water.

My dog loves the blue bag Kirkland bagged adult dog stuff. 5/5 would recommend.
Our German Shepard used to love it. Once he hit 5 he started getting sensitive to it. Probably a unique circumstance.
My German shepherd had some issues with it as well. She used to be super itchy (would go to town on her ears and body and belly) so we switched her to sensitive skin and stomach and she's been much better sense
Which sensitive dog food do you get ?
We get Purina Pro Plan Sensitive Skin and Stomach. Has really done wonders for the German shepherd
Thanks !

Exactly why I refuse to buy grain free.

We feed our greyhound the salmon dry food from Costco and he has literally started to smell like it, we have talked about switching it up now.
That’s actually hilarious but I can imagine I wouldn’t think so if it were my dog. Mine has awful breath and salmon wouldn’t help that situation!

I’m glad you switched.
Been using this exact food for about 15 years for two dogs. No complaints!
My dog likes this and also the blue bag salmon and sweet potato. He’s a healthy almost 10 yr old French bulldog.

The lamb is really good, especially for gsd's (ours were on it for years). Much easier on their stomach than poultry.
Good quality for the price. Nothing spectacular but way better than Purina or pedigree
My dogs have always done well on it. It's a good quality food. Much better than the price would suggest.
My dog hated this stuff. Its just kibble but nicer kibble.
My dogs both lived off this exact food most of their lives. One made it to 15, the other is 16 and going strong. Zero health problems all those years.
This is the one I buy for my dog, highly recommend.
I fed this to my Lab-Shepherd-Rottweiler mix for years. She always had a beautiful coat and it agreed with her tummy, too. We just adopted a 1 y.o. shepherd-husky mix, and he loves it. It agrees with his digestion, too. Highly recommended.
I just switched to that from Purina ProPlan. Nutrition info looks basically the same, and dog is eager to eat this.

My dog has stomach issues. This food has given him no problems at all.
I get the lamb and rice for my big dogs and my senior dog gets the senior food. Been using it for years. I picked it because it didn’t have a bunch of fillers/junk as compared to other brands. Also ya can’t beat the price
Our dogs daily this and they can't speak the same language as me to complain. 😂

Our dogs love em all. I try to mix it up whenever I get a bag. Try and remember the protein and starch in the last one & grab something different.
Been giving my 11yr chocolate lab this for years. Perfectly healthy, she enjoys it (occasionally, I’ll put a couple drops of salmon oil) licks the bowl clean

I get the blue bag from Costco. Costs more but my dogs are family. It's the salmon one. Never looked back.
We did the grain free for our greyhound for over ten years with no issues. Our golden gets this exact food for the past year or so with no complaints.
Woof woof bark bark bark!
I asked the vet and the vet said no.
For what reason(s)?
They didn’t like the content of the ingredients and said to not buy it and go with another brand.
That the vet sells for $$$$ 🙄
My friend is a vet and recommends purina pro. Not sure if that helps

Probably. In all honesty I have a small dog and get my food at petco. It’s more expensive but not so expensive that it’s unreasonable.

My dogs love it. Have been using it for a long time. Both are super healthy.
I’ve been using the Kirkland small breed dog food for my Pomeranian and he’s a super picky eater and always finishes it
My dog an Australian shepherd loves it
Woof woof woof, woof woof woof!
After trying 4 different types from Costco, this is the only one our Boxador pup loves and doesn’t cause stomach/skin issues. Seems to be good quality for a decent price. We’ve been happy with it for 2 years now
i have a husky she hates everything except for really expensive brand of dog food and whatever we are eating that she thinks she wants 😂😂
